This walkthrough is meant as a general guide only. It
may not include every pickup or secret. This walkthrough is also written to try
to maximize the limited amount of ammo available. As such, enemies (mostly skeletons)
are intentionally avoided when possible and can reappear in different numbers
within the game than stated in this walkthrough. There may also be alternative
ways of approaching situations within the game.
The
level begins with Lara standing inside a huge hall. Turn left and climb the
stairs in the north/east corner. Climb the pole and at the top, turn right and
backflip into an alcove. Turn left and climb the ladder. Climb the pole and
backflip into a small room above. Climb the ladder in the south/west corner and
pull up into a small corridor. Drop into the room ahead and turn left. Shoot
the vase in the corner and pickup the small medipack.
Turn right, head around the hole in the middle of the floor and push the lever,
filling the lower area with water. Turn right and fall through the hole into
the water below. Reverse roll and swim to the alcove in the south/east corner.
Pull up, push the lever at the end of the corridor and return to the water.
Swim back to the north/east corner and pull out of the water. Climb the ladder
and the pole. Backflip into the room above and climb the ladder in the
south/west corner. Pull up into the corridor and drop into the room ahead. Turn
right and head around the hole in the floor and push the lever again, draining
the water out of the hall below. Return to the north wall and climb back into
the alcove. Climb down the ladder on the other side and back down the pole.
Climb down the ladder and slide back down the pole. Head back down the stairs
and enter the corridor in the south/west corner of the Great Hall.
Turn
left at the end of the corridor and dash past the skeleton
into a hole in the floor in the room at the end. Head down the ramp, turn left
and push the lever at the back of the room. Reverse roll and quickly exit the
room as beetles emerge from up ahead. Head west
down the long corridor and drop into the water by the fountain to avoid another
skeleton following you. Swim into the hole in
the north/east corner of the pool. Swim right, then right and pickup the Grenade Gun in the alcove on the left. Reverse roll,
swim right, then straight ahead and surface for air at the end. Turn around,
dive back into the water and swim west. Turn into the corridor on the right and
pickup the Shotgun ammo ahead. Swim further
down the corridor on the right and pickup Uzi ammo
at the end. Reverse roll, swim forward and follow the left wall all the way
around until you reach the open area and surface for air. Pull out of the water
and reverse roll to face a ladder on the north wall. Take a standing jump and
grab across the pool and climb the ladder to the top.
Secret #1: Climb down 4 steps and take a backflip and reverse roll to land in an
alcove on the opposite wall. Head through the alcove past the vegetation and
pickup the large
medipack
which is Secret #1. Exit the alcove and take a running jump and grab back to
the ladder and climb back up.
The
next shimmy is either a bug or an intentionally difficult move, the objective
of which is to get Lara to grab the edge before positioning her feet back onto
the ladder so you can continue to shimmy to the right. Start by shifting as far
to the right as possible, then shift left once. Begin to shift back to the
right and as Lara is in the middle of moving, let go and grab the edge.
Immediately shimmy to the right and hopefully Lara will not reposition her feet
back onto the ladder. If she does, continue to let go, grab and shimmy, inching
your way across until you can shimmy all the way to the end. If you try to let
go and grab too far to the right, Lara will bump against the wall and fall.
Once
you get Lara to shimmy all the way to the right and around the corner, pull up
into the alcove at the end. Turn around and take a running jump and grab to a
crevice on the other side. Shimmy left and pull up. Push the large wall switch,
reverse roll and walk to the edge. Angle right and take a standing jump and
curve right into the alcove on the right.
Before
entering the next area, turn left and climb into the north crawlspace. Stand
up, and take a running jump and grab (to change trajectory) over the lava pit.
Pickup the Music Scroll reverse roll, running
jump and grab over lava pit and exit the crawlspace.
Reverse
roll, turn left and head through the east entrance. Turn right and take a
running jump and grab the rope hanging from the middle of the atrium. Swing and
jump to the ledge on the other side and pickup the Shotgun
ammo. Turn to face east and take a running jump and grab to the next
ledge. Pull up and pickup the Uzi ammo. Take a
running jump to the third ledge and pickup the Pharos
Knot. Jump back and grab the edge of the ledge and drop down to a lower
block, noticing there two skeletons below. Turn
to face west, drop off the block and dash to the west side of the atrium.
Reverse roll, arm the Grenade Gun and shoot one grenade hopefully getting rid
of both baddies in one shot. [tip: Sometimes the skeletons seem to get stuck
in places. If so, then leave them be and save your ammo for later on.]
Pickup the Revolver ammo on the floor. Reverse
roll and head to the ladder in the north/east corner of the room. Climb the
ladder, pull up and head for the levers on the ledge ahead. Push only 2 levers,
the one in the middle and the one in the north/west corner. The lever on the
grate is a trap and will only summon a zombie with
no real purpose except to make you waste precious ammo. Head to the newly
opened door in the north/east corner and place the Pharos Knot in the
receptacle inside the alcove. Reverse roll and exit the alcove. Head back down
the ladder, to the south/west corner of the atrium and pickup the small medipack in the alcove. Reverse roll and head
through the door in the north wall and exit this area.
Head
straight to the north wall and turn left. Enter the next area, push the lever
and watch a cutscene of a door opening somewhere. Head forward and take a
running jump up to the ledge ahead. Jump to avoid the skeleton
and drop down onto the floor below. If you wait too long, a flame will appear
in the corridor ahead. If so, take a running jump over the flame as you exit
the alcove and turn left. Head towards the dark alcove in the left corner of
the south wall, activating a zombie and two more
skeletons and reverse roll. Jump into the water and when all baddies are
together, pull up, arm the Grenade Gun and dispatch them all hopefully with one
shot. Pickup the Shotgun left behind by the
zombie. Pickup the Shotgun ammo in the south/west
corner of the room and more Shotgun ammo in the
north/east corner. Return to the alcove in the north/east corner and take a
running jump over the flame. Shoot the vase and pickup the Revolver. Take a running jump back over the flame and
turn left just before the exit. Shoot the vase on the ledge with pistols. When
the skeleton has his back turned, pull up onto the ledge and pickup the Revolver ammo. Jump back down and exit the alcove.
Head east through the long corridor and turn right when your each the end. Head
to the east wall behind the large block and enter the newly opened doors.
Turn
left and head to the large pushable column in the middle of the room. Head
around the object, face south and push the column as far as it will go. Immediately
reverse roll and head to the newly opened door on the north wall, as a wraith is released. Take a running jump over the
slope, drop down and turn left. Head forward, turn right and right again. Drop
into the pool, swim east and the wraith should eventually extinguish itself on
the bird-type statue on the left side of the pool. Reverse roll, swim forward
and pull up out of the west side of the pool. Pickup the Shotgun ammo. Turn left and pickup the Uzi ammo in the south/west corner. Reverse roll, head
forward and push the large wall switch on the right side of the column, opening
an underwater door in the pool. Dive into the pool, swim east and down into the
hole below. Swim forward and surface into the small room above. Pickup the Shotgun ammo, push the lever which opens another door
in the atrium and drop back into the water. Swim left and pickup the Crossbow ammo on the right. Reverse roll, turn left
and swim back down the underwater corridor. Turn left at the end and swim back
up to the pool in the previous area. Pull out and head back through the exit in
the south corridor. Climb the block, head down the slope and back to the room
with the pushable column. Turn right and exit back into the atrium. Turn left
at the large block and head through the newly opened doors on the south wall.
Run
through the room and take a running jump over the lava pit, ignoring the skeletons for now. At the back of the room, reverse
roll and a zombie appears. Immediately arm the
Grenade Gun and shoot one grenade, hopefully taking all three baddies out at
once. Turn left and push the column to the wall. Reverse roll and push the
other column to the other wall. Pickup the Uzis
left behind by the zombie. Head to the west wall and pickup the Uzi ammo. Head back to the south wall and enter the
corridor on the right and pickup the large medipack
at the end. Turn around and enter the other corridor. Turn around at the end.
Jump and grab the edge and climb down the ladder on the inner wall. Turn
around, walk to the hole in the floor and drop in. Head east down the corridor
as wall torches light the way. After the third torch, the zombie ahead starts to approach. Shoot him with the
Grenade Gun and pickup the Grenade ammo he
leaves behind. Head back to the third torch, face north and climb into the
crawlspace above.
Crawl
to the left, stand up and head into the small room on the left. Head around the
hole in the floor and push the large wall button. Drop into the hole, head east
down the corridor to the end and climb into the opening in the north wall.
Enter
the corridor and turn right. Turn left down the second corridor and head to the
end. Reverse roll, arm the Grenade Gun and shoot the skeleton
that approaches from behind. Turn left, facing east and head down the
corridor. Turn left again and head to the blue corner ahead. This triggers the
opening of the doors to the large wall button. Reverse roll, head forward and
turn right. Head forward and turn left at the first corridor. Turn left into
the newly opened door. Turn right, head past the vase and push the large wall
button at the end of the south wall. This triggers the opening of the double
doors in the middle of the maze. Turn right, arm the Grenade Gun and shoot the skeleton that approaches. Head forward and turn right
at the first corridor. Head to the end of the corridor and turn right. Turn
left around the corner and left again. You should be facing west now. Go past
the closed door on the right and enter the next corridor on the right and head
to the end. This triggers the opening of another door. Reverse roll, exit the
corridor and turn left to face east. Enter the alcove on the left and pickup
the Laser sight. Reverse roll, arm the Grenade
Gun and shoot the skeleton that approaches.
Pickup the large medipack he leaves behind.
Exit the alcove, turn right and head down the corridor. Turn into the first
corridor on the right and shoot the vase on the left. Pickup the small medipack and get ready for a timed run. Enter
the alcove ahead and a cutscene shows the timed door opening. Hit the
"look" button to release the cutscene faster and reverse roll. Turn
right and exit the alcove. At the entrance, angle left and head through the
corridor ahead. At the end, angle right and head through the double doors. Turn
right and dash down the corridor. Turn left and quickly enter the door on the
right before it closes. Crawl through the crawlspace and turn right. Stand when
possible and enter the next area.
Turn
left and enter the alcove on the left. Drop down, reverse roll and pickup the Crossbow and Crossbow ammo in the alcove ahead. Face
south and head back out onto the beige floor which starts to rise. Reverse roll
and exit the alcove. Turn right and head to the opening in the east wall and
climb in. Ahead is another "elevator" but is inactive at the moment.
Turn around, arm the Revolver + Lasersight and shoot off the head of the skeleton lurking below. There is another skeleton in this area. If he has spawned already, then
shoot his head off too. If not, exit the alcove and take a run around the
perimeter of the area, avoiding the fire tiles in the centre, until he appears.
Once he does, climb back into the opening in the east wall and shoot his head
off too. Now that the baddies are out of the way, the area is safe to proceed
with the puzzle.
The
objective of this puzzle is to place the four pushable objects onto specific
tiles in the centre of the room, in a specific order. The order is specified by
colours which are shown on the north wall as being
"red/green/blue/yellow".
Drop
down into the puzzle area, turn left and head towards the middle of the south
wall. Go to the second pushable object from the right. Facing south, pull the
object once. Head to the back of the object and push it twice to the north so
that it lands on the black grated fire tile ahead. The object lights up
"red". Turn right to face east and head to the object on the right.
Facing north again, push the object three times. Head right, around to the
other side of the object and while facing west, push the piece once onto the
fire tile ahead. The object lights up "green". Turn left and go to
the next object on the left. Facing north again, push the object three times.
Head to the left of the object and while facing east, pull three times. Head to
the left side and while facing south, push the object once onto the fire tile
ahead. The object lights up "blue". Turn right and head to the final
object in the south/west area of the room. Facing south, pull the object three
times. Turn right and while facing east, push the object once onto the fire
tile ahead. The object lights up "yellow". Head back to the opening
in the east wall, walk onto the beige floor ahead as it rises up to the next
level. Climb out at the west wall and pickup the second Music Scroll on the pedestal in the south/west corner. Turn right
and climb down the ladder in the north/west corner of the room. Climb the block
and stairs ahead and drop back into the puzzle area. Exit via the newly opened
door in the north wall and climb the ladder at the end of the corridor. Head
through the corridor, enter the room with the glass floor and push the lever in
the middle. Watch a cutscene showing a gate opening back in the atrium. Return
to the corridor, take a running jump and grab (to change trajectory) over the
hole and turn left. Slide down the ramp at the end and turn left. Head forward
and turn right back into the atrium.
Secret #2: Head to the hole in the floor near the south wall. Reverse roll, slide
and grab the edge. Drop down and climb the crawlspace in the north/east corner
before the beetles
eat you
alive. Crawl through to the end and climb out into Secret #2. Pickup the flares and large medipack. Climb back into the
crawlspace and climb out. The beetles are gone and a column is now in place in
the middle of the room. Jump up and grab the edge of the block from the north
side and pull up. Take a standing jump back to the floor of the atrium.
Head
to the south/west corner and approach the newly opened entrance but do not
enter yet. There is a boulder above. Dash down the ramp and take a running jump
over the lava pit at the end. Reverse roll and take a running jump back over
the lava pit. Turn left into the alcove and take a standing jump over another
lava pit. Ignore the skeleton on the left for
the moment and head to the back of the room. Reverse roll and another skeleton spawns up ahead and a zombie appears on the left. Arm the Grenade Gun and shoot one
grenade, hopefully taking out all three baddies in one shot.
Secret #3: Head to the south/east corner of the room and take a standing jump and
grab (to change trajectory) into an alcove in the east wall near the bottom of
the lava pit which is Secret #3. Pickup the Shotgun ammo and turn around. Angle
to face north/west and take a standing jump and grab the upper edge of the lava
pit, pull up and head back to the west end of the room.
Climb
the pole and backflip onto the first floor. Pickup the Crossbow
ammo in the corner. Take a standing jump and grab back to the pole and
climb up. Backflip into one of the alcoves above and turn around. Walk around
the perimeter of the room and pickup the Shotgun ammo,
Uzi ammo and Grenade Gun ammo dispatching the two
skeletons with grenades or explosive crossbows along the way. Head to
the north/west corner and up the west ramp into the final area. Get rid of the zombie with grenade or explosive crossbow and blow
away the two skeletons in a similar fashion.
Place a music scroll on each of the pedestals ahead, slide down the ramp
through the newly opened door, head forward and the level ends.
