This walkthrough is meant as a general guide only. It
may not include every pickup or secret. There may also be alternative ways of
approaching situations within the game.
The level begins with Lara standing
in an outdoor courtyard surrounded by four temples. Immediately draw weapons
and shoot the two scorpions that approach. Head north to the first of 4 religious buildings.
Enter the building and notice in the
center of the room there are five blue mats. Lara must pray at each spot in
order to proceed. Crawl over each mat and the door in the south/east corner
opens. Push the lever and a gate outside opens. If you feel the need to shoot
something before you leave, push the lever in the middle of the building and
the door in the other corner opens. Reverse roll, head to the corner and shoot
the vase. Immediately reverse roll again and shoot the ninja
who is consequentially shooting at you. Exit the building, turn left, climb the
block in the corner (or use the stairs) and go through the newly opened gate.
Follow the corridor down to a room
with spike traps. The only way to get to the center block is to go straight
forward. When the first set of spikes receeds, move forward. When
the second set receeds move forward again and pickup the Hand of Orion.
Turn around and traverse the spikes in the same manner. Reverse roll, angle
left and when the spikes are down, move over the trap and pickup the small medipack
on the end. Angle right and run through the stationary spikes and pickup the large medipack on the end. Exit the room back to the
outdoor courtyard and head south to the next religious building.
Enter the building and climb the
stairs on the right. Take a standing jump and grab the climbable block ahead.
Pull up, turn left and take a running jump to the suspended grate. Take another
running jump to the next grate and a standing jump and grab the ledge ahead.
Pull up and push the lever on the right. A small pool fills with water down
below. Go back to face the suspended grate and take a run off the edge to land
on the grate. Safety drop down to the floor. Drop into
the water and pull out. Run around the pool making sure to step on all four of
the light tiles. This act triggers several events. First, all
the torches on the altar light up, the gate at the climbable block opens and a
door outside raises.
Secret #1: Head to the altar,
climb up and drop down. Light a flare, locate the crawlspace below and crawl
into a small hidden library which is Secret #1. Turn left and follow the
corridor around to pickup flares, Shotgun ammo, a large
medipack and a Cartouche piece on the bookshelf. Exit
the small library.
Exit the building, turn left and go
through the newly raised door. Drop into the shallow water and pickup the Ba Cartouche. Climb the stairs on the west wall. At
the top, turn right and follow the ledge around until you reach the wall
receptacle. Place the Ba Cartouche, turn left and enter the newly opened door
on the right. Pickup the Shotgun on the pedestal and the two sets of Shotgun
ammo in the middle of the floor. Facing the two vases, shoot only the one on
the right and pickup the Hand of Orion. Reverse roll, enter the room on the
other side and pickup the flares in the corner on the right. Exit the room,
safety drop from the ledge, head back outside and west to the next religious
building.
Enter the building,
ignore the Eye Piece on the pedestal as it
serves no purpose other than to make two ninjas
appear. Otherwise, shoot the vase in the corner, then the scorpion and pull the block out twice. Enter the alcove, go up the stairs and into a room with a Lara clone
in the center. Turn left and pull the jump switch high
up on the left and the tiles around the Lara clone catch on fire. Turn around
and face the fire tiles. There is a safe spot in between the tiles. Take one
step in between the tiles and the gate on the left opens. Turn around back to
the entrance and climb the first step. Face the fire tiles and angle left to
face the opened gate. Take a running jump off the step and land into the alcove
without catching on fire. Drop into the water pool ahead and pickup the Hand of Orion. Pull out and pickup the small medipack on the ledge. Exit the room via the
two tiles that are now extinguished, head back outside and east to the 4th
religious building.
Enter the building and enter both alcoves
at the back of the room. Turn around and as you make your way towards the exit,
the water turns to firewater. But it is just an illusion. Drop into the
firewater and pickup the 4th Hand of Orion.
Exit the building and turn left.
Main Outdoor Courtyard
(revisited)
Head through the corner area and
place all four Hands of Orion into the wall receptacles. Go to the south/west
corner through the newly opened gates and push the lever at the end. A cutscene
shows an underwater gate opening in the courtyard pool. Reverse roll and exit
to the outside pool. Drop into the water and swim through the newly opened
gate. Follow the corridor around until you reach an area with several pathways
from which to choose. Turn right, entering the first pathway and pickup a large medipack. Reverse roll, turn left and head back
to the beginning to get some air for the next jaunt. Re-enter the water alcove
and follow the corridor around until you reach the same area with several
pathways. This time swim through the second pathway on the right, through to
where the corridor turns into a small crawlspace. After passing through the
crawlspace, turn right and swim through, ignoring the shotgun on the right for
now, until you reach a spot with two choices. Turn left, follow the corridor
until the end and surface for air. Before pulling out of the water, turn around
and swim back through the crawlspace and pickup the Shotgun.
Return to the end of the corridor and pull up.
Run ahead and fall through a hole
down into a lava room with darts. Crawl forward to avoid the darts and stand up
when you reach the slope.
Secret #2 (Mini SideQuest): Sidestep as far to the
right as possible. Slide down the first ramp and jump to avoid a spike pit in
the middle. Slide the second ramp and jump to avoid another spike pit. After
jumping the pit, to the right is a dark hidden alcove. Jump again and while in
the air, turn right to land into the alcove which turns out to be yet another
slope. Jump and reverse roll to avoid another spike pit, slide and grab the
edge of the slope to Secret #2. Let go and grab the ledge below and crawl into
a small room. Pickup flares, Uzis, Uzi ammo,
Shotgun ammo and a large medipack. Exit the
small room via the dark corridor.
Turn left and with
weapons armed, shoot two scorpions that approach from within. Proceed through
the cave and shoot another scorpion emerging from the lava in the next room. At the edge of the
lava, angle right and when the camera view changes, take a standing jump to the
block in the lava. Turn left and take a running jump and grab the block ahead.
Angle left and take a standing jump and grab (to
change trajectory) into the alcove. Drop into the water and swim to the end of
the long tunnel. Pull up, arm weapons and take out the scorpion that approaches.
Follow the corridor and turn around when you reach the hole in the floor.
Sidestep to the right and safety drop down back into the lava room with darts.
Sidestep as far to the right as
possible, slide down the ramp and jump to avoid the first spike pit. Slide the
second ramp and jump to avoid another spike pit. Slide and after passing the
dark alcove, jump and while in the air turn right to avoid another spike pit
and land onto another slope. Slide and when you are near the end, jump and
while in the air, angle to the right and grab the rope ahead. A boulder drops
behind but no matter. Swing, jump and grab the block at the other end of the
chasm and pull up. Pickup the small medipack
and reverse roll. Angle right and do a standing jump to the alcove on the
right. Arm weapons and shoot scorpion. Crawl
into the crawlspace ahead and climb the ladder to the top. Shimmy as far to the
right as possible, let go and grab again. Shimmy to the right before Lara can
place her feet back on the ladder, pull up into the crawlspace and crawl to the
end. Turn around and lower into the next room without letting go of the edge.
Shimmy to the left and slide. When you are almost at the end of the slope, do a
backflip to the slope behind. Slide as far as possible (without falling off, of
course) jump and at the last second, grab the edge of the slope ahead. Pull up
and slide to land on a semi-flat area. Turn right and take a running jump and
grab the rope. Swing and jump to the ledge and pull the lever. Take a running
jump and grab back to the rope. Turn right, swing, jump and grab the pole. Turn
around and do a backflip into the next area.
Pickup
the Shotgun. Turn
right and pickup Shotgun ammo. Turn around and
head to the dark corner with the sarcophagus. Light a flare and pickup Shotgun ammo. Reverse roll and turn left to pickup
the flares near the gate. Face south and head
straight for the wall. Pickup the Shotgun
ammo turn right and look up. There is a very well hidden switch
up above. Take two jumps backwards and do a running jump and grab the switch. Two skeletons spawn. Reverse roll and turn left into
the alcove and pickup the Hand of Sirius. Watch the cutscene as, unbeknownst to you two
more skeletons spawn. Jump out of the corner and exit the alcove.
Turn left and exit the room through the doorway in the south/east corner. The
skeletons will not follow. Arm weapons and shoot the scorpion
in the corridor and enter the next area.
Climb the block on the left, turn
right and walk to the edge. Angle slightly right and take a running jump and
grab to the ledge. Pull up, turn right and walk to the edge. Notice a
crawlspace on the left that is inaccessible at the moment. We will come back to
it later on. Arm weapons, take a running jump to the ledge and shoot the scorpion. Face north and walk to the end of the ledge.
Angle right and take a running jump to the ledge in the dark corner. Reverse
roll and take a running jump and grab the ledge ahead. Pull up, arm weapons and
shoot the scorpion on the left. Face east, angle
to the right and take a standing jump to the ledge ahead. Take another standing
jump into the alcove and turn left to face the ledge with the vase. From the
edge, take a standing jump and grab the ledge, pull up and turn left. Shooting
the vase will only spawn another skeleton so
just walk around it. At the end of the ledge, angle left and
take a standing jump and grab (to change trajectory) into the alcove.
Pull up into the small room, arm weapons and take out the two scorpions. Push the lever, filling the cavern with
water. Reverse roll and drop into the water. Swim to the right and down a bit,
back to the crawlspace seen earlier which is on the right (south wall). Swim
into the alcove and pickup the second Cartouche Piece
on the left. Swim right and pickup the flares.
Swim out of the alcove and up through the cavern to surface into the next area.
Face west and head to the exit. Pull
up into the room and go straight. Turn left and push the lever. Reverse roll,
turn left and make a hairpin into another alcove. Pickup the small medipack and push the lever. Watch a cutscene.
Immediately arm weapons and shoot the three scorpions.
Turn left and follow the corridor. Ignore the Eye
Piece on the pedestal as it serves no purpose other than to summon
spikes and darts. Turn right, follow the corridor and head up the staircase to
the next area.
Walk to the black slope and
immediately jump back as a spiked boulder rolls down the ramp. Go back onto the
ramp and take a running jump to the slope on the left. Immediately do a
sideflip to the next slope on the right. Immediately sideflip back to the
previous slope to avoid yet another spiked boulder. Now take a running jump
back to the slope on the right. Angle left and take a
running jump to the slope ahead. Again, do a sideflip to the next slope on the
right and sideflip back to the previous slope. Take a
running jump and grab (to change trajectory) into the alcove. Climb the stairs
as the gate opens and exit the corridor back into the room where you placed the
4 Hands of Orion.
Secret #3: Exit this room and go
back outside to the outdoor courtyard. Turn left and head past the Christian
Church to the corner on the left and go through the door. Go around the pool
and into a corridor in the south/west corner. Enter the corridor on the right
and head up the stairs. Combine the two Cartouche pieces and place into the
wall receptacle. Turn right and enter the room on the left which is Secret #3. Pickup the large medipack, flares and
Revolver. Exit and head back to the 4 Hands of Orion
room.
Enter the door in the south/east
corner, climb the stairs and place the Hand of Sirius in the receptacle. Jump
and grab the rope above. Swing and jump into the area above. Notice the author
credits on the back wall and exit the room to end the level.
