This walkthrough is meant as a general guide only. It
may not include every pickup or secret. There may also be alternative ways of
approaching situations within the game.
The level begins with Lara dropping
into a reddish cavern. Turn right, enter the corridor on the right and climb
the block into a sandy dune area. Head past the gate on the right, turn left
and take a standing jump up the slope. Head down the next
slope and arm weapons. Turn left and shoot the warthog.
Turn left and take a standing jump over the gap. Turn around, light a flare and
take a standing jump and grab the ladder. Climb down and crawl through the
crawlspace on the left. Stand up and pickup the Gate
key and flares in the north/east corner of the room. Return to the
crawlspace, climb the ladder, pull up at the top and slide down the slope. Turn
right, head forward and turn right at the end. Take two standing jumps over the
sandy slopes, arm weapons and shoot the rather defenseless warthog from the safety of the slope. Use the Gate key
on the door and enter.
Walk down the slope and stop at the
bottom. Turn right and drop down to the watery floor. Follow the corridor right
and pickup the Shotgun and Shotgun ammo on the
block. Reverse roll and take a standing jump and grab the ledge across the
water. Do not pull up, but shimmy left as far as possible, then pull up (you
should be facing south now). Turn around, jump back and grab the edge of the
walkway. Shimmy left as far as possible, pull up and pickup the Shotgun ammo. Arm weapons and shoot the crocodile in the water below. Angle north/west, take a standing jump to the column and pickup the Shotgun ammo. Face west, jump back and safety drop
down to the block below. Pickup more Shotgun ammo
and drop into the water. Follow the corridor, swim
under the walkway and pickup the Gate key on
the left. Swim back under the walkway and return to the small ledge in the
north/east? corner. Take a standing jump and grab to
the edge of the south ledge and pull up. Arm the shotgun and shoot the skeleton off the walkway. Head north on the walkway,
past the middle tile and turn right. Take a standing jump and grab to the block
and pickup the Token. Arm the shotgun and
pickoff the two skeletons from the safety of the
block. Take a standing jump north, use the Gate Key on the gate and enter.
Follow the left wall, avoiding the middle floor tile as there are spikes
within. Arm weapons, shoot the wooden gate and turn left. Head forward, follow
the corridor right around and use the Token in the wall receptacle on the left.
Head through the newly opened gate, pickup the small
medipack and Crowbar and exit. Follow the corridor around and head east.
Secret #1 (Mini Side Quest): When the corridor gets
dark, light a flare and pull up into an alcove on the left. Turn left and
pickup the flares in the north/west corner. Reverse roll, follow the right wall and enter
the corridor on the right (west) into Secret #1. Head to the north/east corner,
pickup the Gem and an earthquake happens. Head to the middle of the west wall and take
a standing jump and grab the ladder. Climb down and pickup the large medipack on the left. Climb back
up the ladder, backflip to the ledge and exit. Exit the room, timed to avoid
the steam which is now health depleting and take a standing jump north/east.
Climb the block, take a standing jump east over the hole and turn right. Crawl
through the small space, trying to avoid the steam along the way. When through,
turn right to avoid more steam and head up the slope in the south/east corner.
Crawl through the space, turn left, drop back into the darkened corridor and
turn left.
Head east down the corridor and turn right at the end. Follow the
corridor around into a red brick textured room with a wall flame. Turn right
and use the Crowbar to pry off the Golden Star.
Climb the block (east) and pickup the Shotgun ammo.
Turn right and drop to the floor.
Secret #2: Turn left staying close to the left wall,
jump up and grab the crawlspace on the left and climb up into Secret #2. Pickup the Trident, Shotgun ammo and
flares and exit.
Arm the shotgun and shoot the skeleton
into the pit hidden in the darkness ahead. Head down the slope, use the Golden
Star in the wall receptacle and head through the newly opened gate. Enter the
corridor and another earthquake occurs, blocking the way back. Head forward, keep to the right of the skeleton
and it will not awaken. Light a flare and turn right, into a dark corridor.
Follow the right wall around and pickup the Shotgun
ammo and flares. Reverse roll, head forward and pickup the Torch if you wish, although it seems to serve no
purpose other than to illuminate the way. Reverse roll and exit the corridor.
Follow the right wall, light the torch on the wall flame and turn left. Take a
standing jump over the sign that says "Danger! Beach
Closed" and backflip to the ledge behind. Drop the torch (if you
still have it) and pickup the Shotgun ammo and flares.
Pickup the torch again (it helps illuminate the dark beach), take a running
jump back to the slope and a standing jump over the slope to the top.
Angle left and throw
the torch to help light the area. Arm weapons, head forward and shoot the crocodile in the water and the warthog on land. Head north, along the beach where the water meets
the sand and stop when you see an immobile skeleton
in the water. Turn left (west) and head forward until you reach the sand hill.
Turn right, drop into the pit and pickup the Ornate
Handle. Head east back to where the water meets the sand and turn right.
Head south to the end, turn left into the water and shoot the crocodile. Dive in and pickup the Uzis in an underwater alcove. Exit the water and head
forward until you reach the sand hill. Turn right, then left into an alcove and
pickup the Revolver. Exit, follow the left wall
and jump into a small hole on the left. Pickup the Revolver
ammo and climb back out. Follow the left wall of the beach and pickup
the Hathor Effigy. Continue along the left wall
just past the entrance, turn left and head up the slope. Pickup the Shotgun ammo and head further up the slope. Pickup
the Shotgun ammo and flares and turn right.
Head north along the top of the slope until you reach an alcove on the left
with a small stand. Combine the Hathor Effigy and Ornate Handle to make the
Portal Guardian and place on the stand. Watch a cutscene of a gate opening and two warthogs emerging. Turn right (north) and drop
into a corridor at the end of the sand dune. Shoot the warthog
in the alcove (and any others that return) and enter the newly opened gate.
Take a running jump over the gap and use the shotgun to shoot the skeleton into the gap. (If you need more ammo, drop
into the gap and pickup the Shotgun ammo.) From
a few steps back from the gate while crouching and/or standing, shoot the lock
off the gate. Pistols, shotgun, revolver or uzis will do the trick. Head
through the gate and "The End" on the wall signifies the level has
finished.
[Note: If you used a savegame editor to obtain the crossbow with
exploding arrows or grenade gun, DO NOT shoot the skeleton unless you are
directly in front of the gate with the lock. The lock disappears if you shoot
from around the corner and the gate will not open.]
