Under High Surveillance

WALKTHROUGH by Lizard Queen

  Underground Cistern

The level begins with Lara underwater! Quickly swim through the broken gate and surface at the end of the corridor. Push the button in the north/east corner and enter the newly opened door. When the flames subside and only mist appears, drop down and slide, jump and grab the monkey swing above. Swing forward and drop to the flat block ahead. Wait for the flames to subside, take a standing jump over the hot tile, slide, jump and grab the monkey swing. Swing forward to the last slope and when the flames subside, drop down, slide and jump to the block ahead. Turn left down the watery corridor and enter the crawlspace at the end between the two sewer pipes. Climb the ladder at the end and push the button at the top, opening a gate in the previous corridor. Climb back down the ladder, exit via the crawlspace. Climb into the second alcove in the north wall and head through the corridor. Shoot the grate, climb the block and enter the washroom. Turn left and jump up and grab the jumpswitch on the wall. Pickup the Uzi ammo and exit. Drop back into the watery corridor, head west and climb into the next alcove. Head down the corridor, turn left and climb into an area guarded by three SAS guards. Arm weapons, take cover and shoot the guards on the walkway above. Climb the ladder and pickup the large medipack, flares and Pass card (called Canopic Jar 2 in my game)around the perimeter. Enter the north door and turn right. Push the wall button, turn left and enter the 2nd "prison cell" in the east wall. Push the floor lever and head back out. Turn right, around to the west wall and enter the 2nd cell. Push the floor lever, pickup the flares and exit. Head to the north wall and climb down the ladder on the south side of the column. Enter the "cell" in the south/west corner, push the floor lever and pickup the Revolver. [tip: Save the Revolver ammo as much as possible. Needed for target shooting items necessary to proceed on in the game.] Use the Pass card in the wall slot and climb back up the ladder. Climb to about two tiles from the top, backflip, reverse roll and grab the edge of the opposite ledge and pull up. Enter the north/east cell, head down the corridor and climb down the ladder.

 

  High Security Corridors

Drop to the slope and grab the edge. Backflip to the cage behind and take a running jump to the next cage. Sidestep to the rightmost side of the cage and take a running jump to the slope ahead. Slide as far as possible without falling off and jump to the next slope. Immediately jump off and land on the flat cage ahead. Take a running jump and grab the crevice in the wall, shimmy right and pull up into the entrance at the end. Head through the corridor, pickup the large medipack on the right and crawl through the crawlspace. Pass through the red bars, triggering a cutscene of the area beyond. Continue to crawl forward and climb down the ladder at the end. Shoot the grating and pass through the red bars and pickup the Revolver ammo in the north/west corner. Head through the door, arm weapons and shoot the guard dog and SAS guard in the hallway. Pickup the Uzis left behind by the guard. Push the button in the south/east corner of the hallway and enter the room. Move the large steel shelf, pickup the Revolver ammo and exit the room. Press the button next to the second door, arm weapons and shoot the SAS guard. Pickup the large medipack left behind by the guard and exit. Turn right and shoot the guard dog and SAS guard in the hallway. Head east down the corridor, turn left and head through the gate at the end (it opens as you approach). Follow the left wall, push the button beside the steel door and arm weapons. Shoot the SAS guard, enter the room and shoot the computer in the south/west corner. Pickup the Key (called Canopic Jar 1 in my game) and Uzi ammo in the north/east corner of the room. Pull out the steel shelf, pickup the Uzi ammo and exit the room. Follow the right wall and exit via the south gate. Head back down the corridor, turn left at the wall, use the Key in the lock on the east wall and enter the elevator.

 

  Suspended Walkway

Push the button in the elevator, jump up and grab the jump switch at the top. Head through the newly opened door and shoot the crawlspace grate in the wall. Crawl through the red bars until you reach an opening at the end. Stay in the crawl position, keep to the right side of the suspended walkway and crawl forward. Turn left, keep to the middle and crawl forward. Continue left, keeping to the middle and pickup the Lasersight at the end. Turn around, crawl back around the walkway, keeping to the middle at first, then to the lefthand side at the end. Crawl back through the ductwork, through the red bars and turn left. Push the block forward as far as possible and take a standing jump to the block in the corner. Combine the Revolver with lasersight and shoot the ball seen through the crawlspace. Climb down the ladder in the hole in the floor and crawl through the crawlspace at the bottom. Climb the ladder and shoot the two SAS guards at the top. Use the Revolver + lasersight and shoot the canister at the back of the sentry gun, blowing it up. Pickup the Pass card (called Sun Goddess in my game) left behind by one of the guards. Pull the steel shelf onto the white "X" and return to the hole in the floor. Face east, jump back and grab the edge and shimmy to the righthand side. Drop to the ground, quickly crouch and crawl forward. Climb up the ladder at the end, head back through the corridor and enter the crawlspace with the red bars. Crawl back over the suspended walkway and shoot the two SAS guards below. Head to the north/east corner of the walkway, face south and safety drop down to ground level. Shoot the canister at the back of the sentry gun, run to the middle of the room and climb the ladder. Backflip, reverse roll, grab the edge of the walkway and pull up. Head to the north/west corner of the walkway, safety drop and shoot the canister at the back of the sentry gun. Pickup the Revolver ammo left behind by one of the guards and use the Pass Card in the slot beside the door in the south/east corner. Head through the gate (opens as you approach it) and slide down the slope, into a new area.

 

  Underwater Rooms

Swim forward, through the corridor at the bottom of the pool and surface. Pull up, arm weapons and shoot the two SAS guards. Walk to the slope with the monkey swing above and turn around (face south). Slide back, backflip, jump off the slope behind and grab the monkey swing above. Swing to face north and swing to the other side. Push the floor lever, opening a gate in the previous area and use the newly created bridge to return to the water hole in the floor. Swim back down, swim through the newly opened gate in the south/east corner of the pool and surface. Face south, pull up and run towards the column ahead as two sentry guns shoot at you from the left and right. Just before reaching the column, sideflip left into a hole in the floor. Crawl through the crawlspace and pull up behind into the area behind the sentry guns. Head north to the edge of the platform to the north/east corner. Use the Revolver + lasersight to shoot the canisters at the back of the two sentry guns. Drop down onto the safe tile between the two flaming grates, angle to face north/east and take a standing jump to the slope ahead. Face north and take a standing jump in between the two flaming tiles. Jump up and grab the jumpswitch, lowering the water level in the previous pool. Drop back into the water hole, swim through and surface. Climb out onto the grated walkway and head to the slope in the north/east corner. Jump onto the small slope, backflip to the slope behind and jump and grab the ladder ahead. Shift right and backflip to the ledge behind. Take a running jump to the next ledge and a running jump and grab to the next. Shift to the right, pull up and push the floor lever, opening a door in a previous room. Drop into the water, swim down through the hole in the floor and surface in the previous room. Enter the newly opened door in the south wall.

 

  High Security Control Room

Head through the corridor and turn right. Head up the slope, jump over the spiked gap and backflip back over the gap to avoid the first boulder. Continue up the slope, jump over the second spiked gap, backflip back over the gap to avoid the second boulder. Arm weapons and shoot the two SAS guards in the room at the top. Pickup the two Uzi ammo left behind by the guards, shoot the crate in the south/east corner and pickup the small medipack. Push/pull the block onto the flaming tile, lowering the beige column revealing a jumpswitch on the opposite column. Jump up and grab the jumpswitch, opening the steel door at the top of the stairs. Do not climb the stairs into the next room just yet. Instead, shoot the four SAS guards with pistols from the safety of the current room. Enter the new room, pickup the Pass Card (called Sun Disk in my game) left behind by one of the guards. Shoot the computer in the south/west corner and pickup the Computer Chip (called Sun Talisman in my game). Use the Computer Chip in the computer terminal on the west wall. Use the Pass Card in the slot beside the door in the north wall and shoot the SAS guard from the safety of the current room. Enter the room and make note of the map behind the blue glass depicting a pattern of tiles. Arm pistols and Lara takes aim at two SAS guards behind the back wall. Take them out if you like, but not absolutely necessary. Exit the room, head to the opened gate in the west wall and climb down the ladder.

 

  Triggered Floor Tile Room

Consult the map (see screenshot) and take standing jumps to the marked tiles, starting from the bottom. If you have negotiated the platform correctly, all four flames should be extinguished in the next room. If any are still on, return to the beginning, step on the reset tile in the south/east corner and try again. Pickup the Golden Vaerus (looks like some sort of alien pod) and climb back up the ladder. Enter the newly opened gate in the west wall and this interesting and enjoyable level ends.
