The old Ruins:
After the starting flyby jump into the water and enter a new area. Kill two
warthogs. Jump on the small brown pillar and running jump to the next one. Jump/grab
the crack in the wall and shimmy to the left. Crawl in and follow the path,
monkey swing across and jump across the ledges around the perimeter towards the
debris pile. Notice the boulder.
Secret 1: Shoot the boulder and it rolls down and opens a hole in the
water. Swim in and pick up a small medipack. There is
an opening in the ceiling and up there you find the golden skull.
Repeat the trip around the ledges and jump to the pile. Safety drop into the hole and emerge in a dark passageway. Pick
up some ammo on the right. Walk on and reach the big spike trap. Carefully make
your way through, picking up flares in between. Choose the path to the right
first. Go behind the tree, meet some pesky bats and enter the crawlspace. At
the end drop and grab again and shimmy around to enter the next room. Push the
pressure tile and see a short cutscene of a block
lowering behind a stone lion. Run up the path and turn round quickly to avoid
the boulder. Then up again and find yourself back at
the spike trap. Again turn right and then left, pass another tree and reach the
area with the fire breathing lions.
The fire-breathing lions puzzle:
Above you see a balcony and a lever. First find the lion you saw in the cutscene (4th on the right). Go behind it and press the
pressure tile. Obviously you should avoid getting burned around here. Next go
to the first lion on the right. Notice the floor and push the block into the
wall on the left and find another pressure tile to press. Another cutscene shows the next block lowering. Back out and go
behind the third lion on the left. Next pressure tile to
press and then out and onward to the last lion on the left. On the right
you can see the second golden skull through a crack but you will get there much
later. So, go back and hit the next pressure tile. No rumbling this time. So,
pull the block twice on the different tile. That triggers the
rumbling and now push the block forward as far as you can. You will find
yet another pressure tile, which you should press. This lowers three blocks
behind lions. Go behind the second lion on the right and push the switch. This
makes the spikes at the last lion on the right disappear. So go there and push
this switch. Rumbling again, so back to the pushable block which you can now move a little further
along to reach the next switch to press. This activates a fire wraith
which you can escape by going out to the start of the room then right and left
and dive into the water hole. Then you can go back and push the block even
further and thus reach a crawlspace. At the end of it you can climb up, make
your way across and down on the other side to reach a button. The flyby shows
you that the trapdoor to the balcony opens. So go there (path behind the first
lion on the right) and pull the lever up there, which finally opens the door at
the end of the hall with all the lions.
Sarcophagus room I:
Go through the newly opened door and shoot the vases and search the sarcophagus
to get a gem and some ammo. Then pick up the revolver near a skeleton. A flyby
shows you where you need to go and also the two lionheads
you will have to deal with. So, make your way back to the spike trap near the
start. And take the other way this time (left). Up the stairs and left to the
tree. Maneuvre your way carefully past the debris (watchout
for the deep pit). You reach the hallway that the flyby has shown you. Right
at the entrance you need to make a jump that is a little tricky to a crawlspace
on the left. Follow the path and get to the pole and climb up.
The Pool I:
At the top you reach a pool room with a closed bridge and one of the lion heads
behind an iron door. First open the floor trapdoor at the handle and activate a
lever below. This is a timed sequence: Immediate backflip
to get out. Forward jump and run to the pole and jump past it onto the
trapdoor. Turn left and jump into the opening before the trapdoor collapses. Press
the button there to open the door/bridge and go back to the pool room. Kill a
crocodile and jump into the water. Collect a small medipack
and ammo in the water. Find a dark tunnel and follow it to find a skeleton and
a lasersight to pick up nearby. When you do,
crocodiles will approach you, so avoid them on your way out. Swim into the
crawlspace on the left and climb out where the initial lever was. With the lasersight, now make your way back to the Sarcophagus room.
Sarcophagus Room II:
Combine revolver and lasersight and shot the gem in
the lion's mouth. An opening in the wall on the left appears. Get in and up and
jump across with the rope and pull the lever once the bats have disappeared. This
opens a trapdoor below, so get in there to find an artifact protected by fires.
Find the clues on the floor and push the block in. Follow the path and get to a
domed room with a small water basin. Pull out the stone in the water and behind
find a room with a pressure tile to activate. You hear a flooding noise, so
make your way back and dive in and now you can pick up the snake talisman
safely.
Secret 2:
Swim back to where you pushed the block in and over it into the opening on the
left. At the end you reach the room you had seen before through the crack and
can pick up the shotgun and the second golden skull.
Swim back out and to the left and reach a ladder. Climb up and pull a
jump switch to open the door behind you and the iron door in front of the
second lion head (cut scene). So make your way there via the debris pile, the
crawlspace with the tricky jump, the pole and in the Pool room shoot the gem
and the door after the wooden bridge opens. Follow that path until you reach a
gap. You can't jump all the way across, so aim a little to the left and grab
the crack. Shimmy to the left and pull into the crawlspace. You will reach a
room where you can place a gem. This opens a hole in the floor. Jump in and
reach a big dark hall.
The Hall:
Go the right and find a lava room. Shoot vases and collect ammo. There is a
switch above on of the vases, which you need to pull to open a door in the main
hall. Go through this door and up. Monkeyswing to the left side.
First Hand:
You reach a chain but it is protected by spikes. Jump down and beetles will
emerge into the room. Go quickly to the trapdoor in the floor and open it. Drop
down and jump to the crack in the wall on the right. Shimmy to the hand and
pick it up. Jump down, climb up the pillar and get out of the room leaving the
beetles behind. Now you can pull the chain, which opens the door to the upper
hall room. Monkeyswing straight across and you are
welcomed by a horseman on a horse which you can kill if you please. In one
corner you can get further up.
Second Hand:
Above, there are two doors. Go to the second one first and open it. You will
find a few empty vases and a crawlspace. Enter it and push a block out of the
wall. Then go through the other door. Notice the different floor tiles in the
centre of the room. Find the block you pushed into this room and move it to one
of the tiles. Then you can pull out a block on the opposite side and move it to
the other tile. This opens the door at the end of the room. Pick up the hand
and a small medipack there and endure another swarm
of bats. Also a door opens in the lava room.
The canopic jar:
Go back to the room with the horseman. In another corner a trapdoor in the
floor has opened, so get down there and pick up the canopic
jar. Drop through the nearby hole into water and make your way to the lava room
with the jump switch. Run through the now open door. You will need to spot a
blue ball that you have to shoot (it is on one of the windows above, but
difficult to see). This raises a block and you can get up. Pull the chain and
the lava in the other room is turned into water. The cutscene
also shows you a torch and another chain. Go to this room across the hall.
Third Hand:
Pull the chain. This opens the second of the three doors in the central room. Slide
down there and pick up the third hand. Make your way back via the block and
extinguish the fir wraith in one of the pools above.
The torch:
Go back to the water room and pick up the torch. You can light it on one of the
fires in the lava room across. Throw the torch on the wooden floor in the
central hall and drop down once it falls through. Pick up the second snake
talisman down there. Leave the room and make your way back to the monkeyswing again and go straight across this time to leave
the area.
The waterfall:
Back near the start of the level you can now go to the big rolling door and
place the canopic jar on the balcony across to open
it. A cutscene shows a temple with pillars and its
entrance. Outside you are welcomed by two warthogs. Go back to the rolling
doors and find the high crawlspace between them. Press the button, endure the
bats and go back out. A block has risen in the pool area. So make your way back
there (debris, tricky jump, crawlspace, pole). Swim to
the other side of the pool and use the new block to get out. Explore to find
floor tiles hinting to a movable block. Pull it once. Then jump into the wild
river and it pulls you away. You reach a great and find a hole in the floor to
swim through. At the end you reach a room with a small medipack,
ammo and flares. Above and through a crawlspace you get back to the debris
pile. So make your way up the pole another time and climb out on the other side
of the pool and now push the block. There is also a new opening where the block
initially was. Find a button there and press it to open another rolling door
near the big spike trap at the start. Make your way there.
The path of Light:
Run through the open door and watch a cutscene. Avoid
the boulder. Move on and enter a known room but this time on higher level. Use
the rope to get a medipack on the right and to swing
up to the crawlspace above where you entered the room. Pull in and pull the
lever behind to raise a block. Go back to the room with the hole in the ceiling
and use the block to pull up. Enter a hallway with spike tiles. Step forward
and let the bats have their fun. Then go diagonally left and in front of the
third window back to the middle, one square forward and jump to the exit.
The Pool II:
Jump to the ceiling and monkeyswing to the right. Pick
up the medipack on the balcony. On the left is a jumpswitch on the wall which you only need to pull if you
do NOT have the two golden skull secrets (it opens the second wooden
bridge/door). As you do have
the skulls, continue the monkeyswing.
Secret 3:
The monkeyswing leasds you
to a crawlspace and this leads to an open door (if you do have the skulls). Continue
with another monkeyswing to the secret (Stone of Maat).
Then monkeyswing back to the ladder and climb
up. Push a block into the wall on the right and use the pressure tile to
activate the water outside. Jump into the water and dive through. You reach a
room where you can place two hands. This triggers a boulder a little further
along which opens a hole in the floor. Dive through and you can place the third
hand, which opens the door to the temple with pillars. Dive back all the way,
down the ladder and find the balcony with the pillars.
The
Enter the temple and slide down to the rolling door. Push the button to open it
and place the two snake talismans. Watch the bouler.
Now you need to spot the well hidden lion's head (kind of in the middle of the
tree) and shoot the gem. You hear a trapdoor open. Jump into the water and dive
through the tree roots to reach a room with some ammo. Climb out and through
the ceiling trapdoor to get to the switch you saw in the previous cutscene. Obviously a timed sequence, so pull the wheel 5
times and sprint across to where you placed the snake talismans and through the
closing door. Slide down backwards and grab the edge. Drop, jump across the
lava pit and drop screaming into water. Step out and......
