The
Last Fortress

Here's another unauthorized walkthrough written by Akci and submitted by
OBig. Many thanks to them both for their contributions to our growing
collection.
Level One:
It begins with something unusual, jump into the room to the right, stand
in front of the stones on the lower floorlevel and keep shooting the
electricity. That banishes the fire-spirit to the bottom of the next big hall,
find the jump-up lever, which opens the flap door at the start.
Slide down backwards,
grab the ledge, shimmy to the left, get up and do a backflip with turning
around, and press the right arrow too, to land on the block at the right. Shoot
the bat; there will be another one downstairs. To get down, find a way to the
other end of the hall. Go for the stairs and get back, let the boulder come
out, now you can move along. Come back for the small medi later, when you
killed the fire-spirit.
Now it's a curious
dilemma, the fire-spirit is hanging about, so you should jump into the water,
but a crocodile is waiting for you there. Well, while take care one, watch out
for the other. There is nothing more to do here. Go around into the corridor,
open the door, get some ammo, then use the handle in the crawling space. It
opens the blue door in the corridor you came from. Climb up the ladder, get the
flares, and while jumping from the slope shoot the white vase up there. The
lower one too, and the double door opens.
Use the jump-up lever
between the balconies now, though it matters later. Go for the crawling space,
right from the entrance. Because of the machine guns, move close to the wall,
and the longer way around the yard, in order to take less injuries.
On the right side of
the corridor there is the door you just opened, but you can't go far in that
way yet. Go for the door next to the pool, which shows on the load screen.
Monkey swing into the
big hall, where you can climb down one floor with the ladder, but for the one
under that, you need to use the CTRL with the safety drop to get down with
minimal injury. (hold CTRL, hop back, release it while Lara supposed to grab
the ledge, then push it again)
Monkey swing to the
middle, and jump toward the handle, which opens the door downstairs. Behind it,
there is another handle, lifts up a platform in the room with the pool. Climb
up the lader. The handle at the top opens two doors, the way to go back up. But
don't go that way. Climb to the very right side of the ladder above the door.
When you step onto this square, before the door, the wall opens behind the
handle on floor level. It will be a nice long climb. At the top the wall is
climbable too. Get the blue crystal, you'll need it on level two.
Back to the pool,
where you can go up now. Look around for the jump-up lever, watch out the
fires. The blue door opened, you could have seen the handle inside, if you
looked around here from the water. This opens the door at the top of the ladder
in the corridor, opens from the way, leads back to the yard. But before go
there, let's see the other side of the pool. I couldn't open the door leads
there, and I think it can't be opened. From the handle you can jump over the
fence with dive and roll. (+SHIFT)
Get the shells, and
jump out from there the same way.
Climb up the ladder to
find a jump-up lever, with it you open a flap door on the other side of the
yard. You arrive into a room with the lionhead gargoyles. You can open two
doors here, but just one of them leads somewhere at the moment.
A smaller kind of a
maze, but it's alright, soon you will be familiar with it.
Drag the dead soldier
off the grate anyways.
Find the way to the
room with another dead soldier, and uzi clips, with the handle you stop the
currents in the pool, middle of the gargoyle room.
In the water, in the
direction of the gargoyles you can find a handle, the other way leads you out
of there through some crawl spaces.
Now the door in the
dead soldier's room is opened, go in, another handle. This opens the door to
the upper lever of the gargoyle room. To get there open the ceiling flap door
in the opposite corner from the dead soldier. Shoot the attacker, get the
lasersight, use the handle. The door it opens leads to a high hall, you can't
do much here yet, kill the knights at least.
Go back into the water
in the gargoyle room, you can jump from the upper floor. Swim where the handle
was. In this room a door is opened. You reach the top of the same room where
the knights were. On the way up at the top of the ladder release CTRL for just
a sec, in order to let Lara put her legs down, this way she can get up into the
crawling space.
Jump onto the ladder
in the middle of the hall and climb up. Get the shotgun shells and uzi clips.
The handle opens a door behind the one next to the gargoyles. On the way you
can see another door opened, but you will go there much later. Go to the door
next the gargoyles, in this room there is a timed task to be performed. If you
couldn't find the handle upstairs, you wasn't fast enough. When you have it, go
the latest door of the gargoyle room. At the right side of the stage you can
climb up, get around, running jump from above the searchlight, with holding
left in the air, to reach the opening over the slope.
Upstairs you can jump
over the white fences as usual, over the grates with dive and roll. In the
middle, above the entrance drop onto the lever. Now you have one more rope. Go
up again and use it to reach the handle over stage. You have to go through all
ropes, because the first one is a bit longer, you can jump onto only that from
the balcony.
When pushing the
handle, a cut-scene shows a door opening, it's at the top of the hall, where
you killed the knights.
Use your new toy, with
the lasersight, shoot the swinging blue things, the one at up to the right
opens the door downstairs. Shooting the other two I couldn't find up for any
good. Do a safety drop, turn around, climb up the opening for a handle, which
opens two doors, you're about to going in. Then go for the opened door. Find
the handle, push it, and go back to the dead soldier. On the way, now that you
have own a colt, you can shoot thoose annoying machine guns on top of the yard.
You arrive into a room
with many fires, spiced up with two soldiers. On the right side there is a
jump-up lever, opens the way, which goes for level two.
But first look around
above the entrance, on both sides with turning while jump. At one side you can
find some shotgun shells, on the other a handle. It opens a flap door in the
ceiling, in the corridor leads from the yard to the gargoyle room. Go there,
climb up, find the secret shotgun.
Move to the second
level.
Level Two:
Use the blue crystal
to open the door, then ride up. Get the small medi from the center of the room.
Climb up the ladder to find the nitro. Where jump over water you can go down on
the early side, grab the ledge, and crawl in. The handle inside opens a blue
door, you'll reach soon. Get down the water, aviod the crocodile, climb out the
shore, now you can kill him. Up there, there are some white breakable walls, by
the bike. To get up, you have to ride around the room. There will be another on
the way, and a breakable floor too, just ride to the middle of the room.
But first, climb up
the opening over the first one. Get the large medi. Now there are three doors
in the corridor. Two blues next to each other, and a third in front, which
closes as you go for. Never mind, it's a trick. The first blue you will open
soon, the second is already opened, that was the one you opened in the crawling
space above the water. Turn right at the closing door, and right again, you get
into an explosive room. The blocks by the wall have lighter parts, close to the
wall, thoose are safe to step. If you look left, you can see an opening across
the room, jump over there, get the uzi clips. Inside the opening there is a
handle. Unfortunately I couldn't find out what is it for, I finished the level
just the same way whether I used it or not.

Now, at the entrance
of the explosive room, climb up the block, where you can go up the upper ledge
from. I'm not sure if it was by will from the maker, but it's a bit
complicated.
If you try it as usual
- so stand on the back right corner of the block facing the entrance, turn
right a bit and standing jump with CTRL - Lara won't grab the ledge. Instead
turn right more, aiming the far side of the target square, then do a standing
jump, and hold left while in the air. And CTRL too of course. Go for the handle
behind the trick door. You opened the first blue door outside. Go back to the
ledge, but don't get down just yet. Look down, inside the fence there is a
small medi. Get down from above it, and pick it up, it is a secret. Jump the
fence with dive and roll.
Go for the opened
door, where lays the uzi, also a secret.
After you have breaked
the floor with the bike, get down from it and pick up the uzi clips.
Now there is a bug in
the level.
If you leave the bike
here (you won't need it any longer) and move along on foot, then in the next
room the fires won't light up, and also out of the five machine guns (three in
the next room, two in the next after) only one shows up. If you go with the
bike a bit farer in the tunnel, through that lighting piece of ceiling in about
the middle, and leave the bike there, then all the machine guns will be at
their places, only the fires won't light up. All this would make your job
easier, and of course it's up to you, but I think it wouldn't be fair, plus you
would miss a nice cut-scene too. So just get back onto the bike and ride to the
end of the tunnel.
Attract the soldiers
attention by shooting on them one with lasersight, then as they approach, you
can switch to any weapon. It would cost too much taking care of the machine
guns from down here. It is possible though.
Run down on the left
side, jump over the fire, and turn left next to that small pool, on it's closer
side to the entrance. You are at safe for the moment, take a deep breathe.
Sidejump over the slope above the pool, that opens the timed door in front, go
for it. There is no fire on the middle block, so aim your jump there, and keep
jumping toward the door. It's realy not as hard as it seems.
Climb up the ladder,
shoot the soldier, go to the ledge. The machine guns will shoot at you, but let
them be. Use lasersight and shoot the red fuel tank next the chopper, then hop back.
(Keep in mind that, while the look held down, you can switch to any weapon to
use with lasersight.)
Use some medi, because
it's going to be a long fall. In the place the chopper was, one of the columns
is climbable. Get up, and jump over for the small medi.
Two ways leads out of
here, one goes back the corridor you came from, the other goes to the top of
the previous room. Now you can take care of thoose machine guns too.
The blue door next the
bike is opened now. It leads to a hall with a pool.
If you haven't gave the nitro to the bike yet, now it's the time.
Move along to the corridor. As it turns left, there is an opening up at
the left. But
a block raises, which can be lowered with the handle, in the corner of the
pool. If you arrive here by foot, that block won't raise. And if you were at
the handle before, and used it, - of course it didn't do a thing, at the time -
and then you come here with the bike, it also raises. In that case just go to
the handle, and come back, the block won't be there.
When you go up, a door
opens, you can see it through an opening at the right. Behind it, there is a
swinging blue thingie. Shoot at it, but hurry, because that door is timed. When
you succeed, the door in front opens. Hop back down, and come up again in order
to open the timed door again. This time you are free to run for it. Inside
there is a Breast Plate, then the other door lets you out. Get the small medi
from the blue room, then go back to the pool. At the left, the blue door
opened, use the handle, you could saw it on level one. Now as the water
lowered, you can get colt ammo from the corner, and uzi clips from the deep.
The handle you pushed,
opened the door behind where the machine gun was, so get up there, through the
fires, timed door, and ladder. When you climbed up the ladder, jump to the
other side, then behind the door use the handle, it opens the door in the end
of the dark tunnel. Don't leave the small medi here.
Go for the door, kill
crocodile. Go up the blocks at the left, then climb around to get the uzi
clips.
Go to the gate, kill
demigod. Use his crystal to open the final gate.
