Level 1 - Introduction
(La spiaggia)
After landing on the beach, dive into the water, go
swim SE and to the beach S, just left of that big palm tree get the Uzi ammo
and head W, just left around the plant is some Shotgun ammo, W again and
find a small medipack near another fat palm tree. In that little canyon
W are Flares and some Uzi ammo to be found between the plants. Go
out to the beach, turn left and left again into the second canyon (just before
the small pool), go into that small opening in the back and follow through till
you reach an enormous canyon. Climb backwards down the edge and go right along
the ladder. Down to a crack and get into the crawlspace, drop out on the other
end and grab up to get onto the monkey climb. Go over to the other side and
follow the passage into a cave. From the block in the middle of the pool you
can jump and grab a crack SW, go right and pull up at a push block. Push it in
to get to the 2x Shotgun ammo, Arrows and a small medipack.
Leave the way you came, get back through the
crawlspace, get onto the ladder and go about 7 steps down, line up above those
spikes below and save before you do a backflip off the ladder. The spikes
retract as you land and you’ll find Secret #1,
the Chiave del cancello, a Medipack and Grenades. Run NE
over the ledge and curve right to grab on to the ladder, go all the way up to
the ledge above.
Now hang from the edge and shimmy left, drop to grab a
crack below and traverse to the left to get to the ledge. From there a jump and
grab to the next ledge N. Go up to the grassy ledge N and look NE before you go
onto that bridge. See that grassy rock there? Jump there to grab the edge of it
and traverse around the corner, go down the ladder to get Secret #2, a Medipack, Arrows and Uzi
ammo. Climb back up and shimmy back to the bridge and cross the bridge to
the closed gate W.
Turn left and follow the path to the end, turn around
and drop to a lower ledge, follow the ledges around the W side and climb the
ladder to get to the SW corner. Head along the path to the E and find the
ladder on the back of the rock to climb up to a monkey climb. Follow into that
cave W and throw the lever to open that gate you saw. Now go back out and the
easiest way is to runjump down to the ledge NE, climb back up along the rocks
to that gate and go N, as there is a closed door we need a key for in that
passage.
Chiave del Campo (The Camp
Key)
Go N a bit and drop/hang from the E side of the ledge,
drop to a rock ledge below and from there a runjump over the grassy slopes to
the path along the river. A bit to the N you can climb up left to a low alcove,
climb into the crack S and get the Chiave del Campo. Climb back out,
head N and climb up left (W), up the ladders and traverse to the left where you
can drop onto a ledge, slide S and jump back to where that gate is. Go in and
shoot the Guard. Open the door in the end and enter.
The Camp
Lots of Guards and dogs here, could well
be I forgot to mention a few.
Head NW and shoot the dogs, go into the shack to your
left and shoot the Guard. In those boxes are a a small and a large
Medipack. Climb down the hole in the floor and turn the valve in the
room below to see a trapdoor. Climb back up and head out to that shack standing
N, shoot more boxes to get Arrows, Uzi ammo and Shotgun ammo.
Climb down the hole in the floor and turn the valve in the room below to see
that trapdoor again. Climb back up and head between the 2 shacks standing W,
climb the crates and go up the N side shack, jump over to the far NW shack (if
you go over the ground, you’ll find a mine trap). Go into the shack and find
some Flares. Go out and straight W to that wooden structure. Turn right
and go (N) into the alley next to it, open the door there with a Key you got at
the Spike Secret and get Secret #3, Flares, Uzi ammo and a small
medipack.
Go back around the building and just enter the door N
and sprint straight through (you're taking fire from above and behind you) to a
small door in the last room, kick it in and open the trapdoor in the floor. Go
down and operate the last valve N, wade to the S if you want some more Uzi
ammo and then get back up the ladder. Go back S and take a right in the
second room, go up the stairs and fight the resistance. Head into the room N
and find a hole up in the ceiling. Climb up and get Uzi ammo, Shotgun
ammo and Sticks of Dynamite. Back down the hole and S to the hallway
at the top of the stairs where the opened trapdoor is, climb up to the room
above and get the Chiave del Guerrilgiero.
Go down and into the passage S, have a look in the
room to the left. There is a closed ceiling hatch you can come back for later.
For now go back down the stairs and out of the house, to the S along the rocks
to the right and just around the corner in the end is the door you can open
with the Key. Watch the health, as you are under fire. Run back to the wooden
house and go up to that small room where the ceiling hatch is now open. Climb
up and go into the next door to get Secret #4,
a small medipack, a Medipack and the Shotgun. Go back
down, out of the house and to that door you opened before.
A level change is coming up so maybe only take a small
medipack if you need it. Follow the tunnel and place the Sticks of Dynamite
where the timer is and then step past the timer so the level will change.
Level 2 - Entrance to the Temple
Climb the ladder to see a huge temple
complex surrounding a square, take a few steps forward and turn S, go straight
S and pick up the Uzi ammo. Turn around and head straight N passing the
ladder and find the Shotgun ammo just beyond that fat palm tree.
Now go stand at the NE tip of the
structure facing NE and you'll see a tiny palm tree, about 3 squares away, go
there and shoot it. You'll drop into a chamber with Secret
#5, Grenades and 2X Shotgun ammo.
Climb back out and head W to the N side of the Temple and go up the ramp, head
S and look for the entrance to the Temple W. Go in and enter the Main Hall.
Go S into the passage and keep to the left,
jump the fiery pit and turn around to jump and grab the ladder wall. Go up and
from the top a backflip, then an immediate jump with grab and climb up onto the
ledge. Crawl to get the Shotgun ammo and proceed through the low tunnel.
Get past the hole by traversing to your left along the wooden panel and jump
past that large opening in the middle of the Main Hall, the passage N is for
later, for now hop back and climb down the hole until Lara is hanging by her
fingertips. Drop/grab past the gap to
grab the lower ladder wall, climb up to the ledge and jump over to the N side
balcony. Go left and left again, passing a closed gate in the W wall.
Pushblocks
Just down the sloped floor and opposite
the pillar is a push block in the W wall (light a flare if that will help),
pull it out and aside. Go in and find the block to the left, push it all the
way in and turn left (E). Pull the block there once into the passage. Turn
around and climb up N into the opening in the ceiling, follow through and drop
into a lower passage with a lever. Pull it to open a gate down in the Temple.
Turn right and push the block W twice so you can exit to the right and find a
nice spot to drop down to the ground floor of the Main Hall.
Lava Room
Go into the open gate in the W passage and
head left (closed gate to the right). Hop over the sloped block and slide jump
3 times over spikes to get to a flat ledge. Jump and grab to the pillar in the
middle and then jump to grab the crawlspace S. Drop out at the other end, slide
backwards grabbing the edge and the ladder. Climb down and to the right into an
opening with Secret #6, a Medipack and Shotgun ammo. Jump and grab back to the
ladder and go left around the corner, backflip/roll and grab the ladder behind
you, climb right around the corner, backflip/roll and grab the ladder behind
you. Pull up on top of the pillar and jump to the one N, up into the opening in
the N wall and throw the lever there to open a door back in the lava room. Jump
out to the pillar below and hop to the one SW, then into the open door W. (Unlike v1, the spikes never materialized on these pillars).
Follow through, crawling through the low
part and come to a place with a water-filled pit. You'll alert a harpy as you get near the pit. Dive into the pit and follow to the
slicer-dicer, save and swim through (after grabbing the nearby Uzi ammo),
straight ahead N and up to climb out in a large cave.
The Large Cave, the Chiave
d'argento, the 1st Occio del Ciaguaro
Pick up some Flares left of the
water hole and go W from there, around that big pillar onto a path along the W
wall and find a small medipack and another Shotgun. Drop from the
side and head down N, go left around that pit to the NE corner of the cave and
get the Medipack and Crossbow Arrows there, turn S there and drop
into the ramp going down along the E wall. Shoot two bats, then follow all the
way down till you go through a colourful passage leading to a temple area. A
flyby takes over. After the flyby you can go straight up the ramp (as you do,
you'll likely awaken a Demigod who starts firing at you from behind to a
pedestal with the Chiave d'argento (Golden Key) and the 1st Occio del
Ciaguaro. Go E down the ramp ahead and to the far SE corner of the area to
climb over the rocks and find a shallow pool with a small medipack.
Going back you might encounter a second Demigod. In the cave to the S of the
pyramid and left behind the plant SE is a crawlspace with Uzi Ammo, all
done... The exit is straight W from the structure, so head back up to the large
cave.
The Deep Pit, the 1st Carica
Drop down into the deep pit from the NW
corner, landing on the path below and follow down, shoot some scorpions at the
bottom and climb up on the other side of the low part, do not drop on the block
there (Spikes), but climb down the ladder next to it and follow the obvious
route. Drop down into the hole just beyond the totem pole. Down in the passage is some Shotgun ammo,
better crawl to it slowly and pick it up after all the blades are activated.
Follow into the next room and get a small medipack in the corner left of
the alcove with the Carica. Head all the way back up to the large cave
and go back S because the rest of the cave can only be accesed after you've
found a crowbar.
So swim back through the tunnels, the slicer-dicer and pick up the Uzi ammo on
the floor unless you got it earlier.
Swim up in the pit and climb back out. Climb up the ledge N and pick up
a small medipack, go out NE and through the opened gate to arrive back
at the Main Hall of the Temple.
Up the Pole
Go back into the S passage and do the same
as before (refer to the second paragraph of this Level 2 segment) to get to the
balcony level of the Main Hall, jump to the N and go to the W side to the gate
for which you now have the Key. Climb up W and follow through to a pole, climb
all the way up and backflip to one of the floors there. The dead end passage N
has a Medipack, so maybe get that first and then go into the W side
passage where a gate will open up on approach.
Lara and the Hammergod
When you go down in the next room, the
gate closes, get onto a higher block as fast as you can (safe from the
hammergod) and look for an open gate S, run in to the lever on the S wall and
wait till you see the hammergod, then throw the lever to lock the hammergod in
and quickly get out into the nearest opening W (the fixed camera angle is
obviously intended to make this as difficult as possible). Climb up right at
the end of the passage, then left and drop back down into the Puzzle room. Now
you have some time to look around, but he will be set free again. (The gate
seemed to remain closed much longer in v2 than in v1, which made things
considerably easier.) Repeat the same as before to lock him in again.
4 Puzzle pieces have to be moved onto
their respective tiles. The compass direction is given on top of each piece,
i.e., N S W E. Just remember that N is away from the hammergod pen to avoid
becoming disoriented (not to mention being distracted).
After placing them all, a gate opens in
the N end of the room, go in and throw the lever to activate some beams opening
doors in their turn.
The Two Sacrificial Daggers
Quickly run back to the SE corner of the
room and from a ledge you can grab back up to the re-opened entrance gate. Jump
to grab the pole and go down, past a circular blade and backflip off in that
room, collect Shotgun ammo, Uzi ammo and a small medipack.
Go down one more floor and collect a large and small medipack.
One more floor down, just do a backwards safety drop when the blade is on the
other side. Get the Shotgun ammo next to the pole and proceed through
the passage and find the Torch on a ledge to the right, near the closed gate.
Take it back a bit and ignite it on one of the wall torches near the plants,
stand real close on the ledge next to it (or just use the third wall torch a
little further back). Go down to the gate and light the 4 wall torches, two on
ground level and two on the ledges near the statues. Leave the torch behind,
enter the gate and go down to the two open doors to get the Sacrificial
Daggers.
Return the way you came, up the pole
passing 3 Blades and backflip into the gray stone passage (the top of Lara's
head should be level with the opening). Follow back and climb down to that open
gate in the Main Hall. You CAN just jump to the central structure from the N
side and standjump/grab to the upper ladders from one of the corners. Note from moderator: I don't know what this means, as it didn't
work for me. Or you might want to
go to the ground floor and repeat the actions in the S passage to get back up
to the upper N floor. Near the closed gate there are the receptacles for the Daggers
and the gate will open up. Pass through and slide down the sloped passage to
get to the next level.
Unfinished business: 2 crowbar operated
gates in the Large Cave.
Level 3 - Intermediate 1
The Lasersight
Follow through and get the Lasersight
and a Medipack from the pedestal after shooting the Native, run through
and get to a large cave with some kind of Temple structure, shooting another
Native along the way. Look SE and SW of where you came in and get the 2
packs of Flares.
In this area there are many pickups
scattered about, many ways you can proceed, here's how I got through.
The 2nd Carica. Warning
of a presumably unintended shortcut I found:
With this item you can end the level by using it (and the 1st Carica, or
gold nugget) in the receptacles near the gate far NE in this cave and miss out
on half of the level. The artifacts
intended for these receptacles are two tablets that you won't find until much
later. The gold nuggets are not used until the very end, but for some reason
they also fit in the these tablet receptacles.
Go down the stone steps and N onto the red
rocks, look for a ladder down at the W side, climb down and jump W, then SW and
W again, go NW to the ledge for 2x Shotgun ammo. Make your way back to
the ladder (there's nothing to do in the structure N) and up to the red rock
and head back to the SW corner of the stone steps, look for an opening in the W
wall. Jump in there and go right, to the third opening to the right. Slide down
backwards and grab the edge, backflip to the roof of the structure. Jump from
the NE corner to grab the red rock and shimmy left to where you can pull up.
Then jump to the structure N and from the NE corner of it to the corner of a
small structure down NE. Hang from that corner facing N and traverse right
around the corner, drop and go for the 2nd Carica on the N ledge.
Gathering Goodies
From the SE corner you can jump to a ledge
SE (the cave E leads to receptacles we need something for first). Go into the
structure SW and from here (going S) you could get back up to the top of the
structures. For now go W into the next structure and get a small medipack.
Jump out to the ledge in front of the next structure W and head N, jump the
ledges to a rock you can see in the NE corner of this section, in the
crawlspace is some Shotgun ammo. Jump back and go into that last
structure at the W wall, runjump with a left curve onto the brown ledge in the
S side of this structure and get the Uzi ammo. Turn N and standjump/grab
up into the hole in the ceiling to get onto the roof. Jump to the roof E,
grabbing it just over that entrance below. Then to the red rocks S and walk all
the way up to the S tip, jump to the structure W, drop down inside through the
hole and from there jump S, then E to the ladder and go up.
The Revolver
Go to the SE corner of the stone steps and
jump over to the E ledges. As soon as you head N, you can climb up higher on a
rock E. Follow the path over this high level with some jumps here and there and
go into the far SE corner to get some Flares. Return a bit, shooting a
couple of scorpions, and walk right around the rock pillar. Climb up to the
monkey climb and grab up. Follow to the next pack of Flares and get back
on the monkey climb to get to a room in the NW corner of the place. Drop and
shoot the 2 Natives. One drops the Revolver and on the pedestal are Arrows
and Revolver ammo.
Get back on the monkey climb and return to
the ledge where you got the last Flares (shorter route, although you could
choose to go back as you came here). Hop to the tiny ledge sticking out SW and
jump down to the roof of the structure S, over to the red rock S and from the S
end to the structure E, down through the hole there and to the ledge S in the
lava. Jump E to the ladder, go up and straight down the ladder on the E side of
the red rock. Jump E, SE and from that ledge you can take out the Native S,
jump to that ledge and jump onto the slanted rock SE, slide and jump onto
another slanted rock, one more slide/jump and you found Secret #7, a Medipack and Shotgun
ammo. Slide down W and jump over the slanted rock ahead to a flat ledge.
To the S you can see a Lion's head, you
have to shoot the Ruby in its mouth, you CAN just do it with pistols, jumping
up....(saves Revolver ammo). A block lowers and now you can proceed jumping the
ledges to a ladder, go up and follow through, climbing up a wall ahead. Hang
from the end of the passage and drop, immediately jump and land on a ledge
under a monkey climb. Stand at the
highest tip and grab up. Follow to the wall ladder, release and grab, then
shift left to the last one. Backflip to a ledge and follow jumping to a pillar
with ladders on the E wall, runjump to a triangular ledge just to the right of
it and grab up. Go climb left around and up the last ladder, climb off left
(it's dark up there, but it's safe to drop) and walk up to the rope, jump and
grab it to swing to the next, from there turn slightly left and swing to get to
the NW ledge. Jump up to the flat NW corner (save first) and crawl into the
crawlspace to operate the switch there. Go back out and carefully jump back to
the flat ledge S, grab up to the monkey climb and go over to the raised blocks,
shimmy around to the second one and head E to where you can go down a pit SE
after shooting two bats.
Climb down and crawl backwards out of the
opening N, drop and climb up E. A Native will come, but if you're quick enough
you can drop down to a ledge N and get the small medipack before he
does. Shoot him and go up S to a ladder where the level will change.
Unfinished business: 2 receptacles in the
far NE corner of the Lava cave.
Level 4 - Cut 01
The Crowbar
Climb the ladder and follow the passage to
a large cave with a huge Leopard statue, a Native attacks and when you are
quick enough, he will not get a chance to take the Flares to the left of
the entrance. A bit further on to the left are more Flares. A flyby will
show a kind of path along the rock wall, leading to the Crowbar. Go N from
where you are and you'll run straight into a higher rock ledge with some Shotgun
ammo on top (near the rear end of the Leopard statue). Look back SE from
there to spot a gate and go up there, run S passing the gate and jump to the
flat ledge behind the rock formation SW, climb up S, turn and jump up NW, climb
up N and follow the ledges with some jumping to the far N side where the
ladders are. Jump and grab the ladder, you have to go down a bit before you can
go left around the corner. Up to climb off left onto the ledge. Jump to the W
and look for the 2 slanted rocks on the N wall, standjump NW to the first one,
slide and jump to the second one, slide and jump to the passage W and drop into
the hole just before you reach a ladder (and note the closed-off area just to
your left), climb down and from the ledge below take a jump and grab SW to the
monkey climb. Go W and then right to the next ladder, up nearly all the way and
backflip into the passage there.
Turn around and run with a right curve (or
side flip) into the hole with the sloped floor so you slide back and can grab
the edge, shimmy all the way left, drop onto the breaktile and quickly turn to
your left and jump/grab W to a crawlspace. Follow through, continuing W, and
save at the next opening in front of the suspended breaktile. Stand on the very
edge, hop onto the first ledge, sideflip left and standjump forward to grab the
third, hang left and save there. Pull up and run with a right curve to jump to
a double ledge around the corner. Turn left and jump straight off the S end of
the ledge to grab the rocks ahead. Traverse left around the corner and pull up
on the flat part (as you approach the pool that you can see down below), follow
in and grab the monkey climb.
When you see a ladderblock ahead and to
your left, get directly opposite it, turn towards it and drop onto the sloped
rock below, jump and grab the ladderblock, go up to the top. Jump up NW and go
into the passage there for Secret #8, Revolver ammo and the Uzis. Drop down N of the Uzis and
get back on the monkey climb. This time follow all the way to the end and drop
into the passage. Go S and finally left into the cave where the Crowbar is.
Go back to where the monkey climb is and look down for a pool, standjump down
into the pool and climb out to go N, the next pool has some Arrows,
shoot the Native showing up. Head N along the W wall and go up to the crowbar
lever next to the closed gate. Use the crowbar to open it, go in and slide down
to arrive back in the second level.
Level 2 - Entrance to the
Temple, part 2
The 2nd Occio del Ciaguaro
Head NW, shoot a bat and then go W into
the side cave, open the gate up at the top by using the crowbar on the lever
and go in till you reach a spike pit. Stand left, turn facing N and sideflip
onto the slanted rock, jump with a left curve to land safely on a ledge. Jump
and grab up to the crack S. Shimmy left to an alcove and pull up to runjump to
a ledge NE. Turn S and go up the ladder to the top, backflip and jump/grab the
ladder above, climb up into the crack and down the side, shimmy right to the
corner and drop onto the path there. Walk slowly to the W activating a Knife
trap and then jump and grab the ladder wall, traverse to the right and get into
the opening just over those spikes. Follow through to the top of the cave where
the crowbar gate is.
Shimmy E along the edge of the rocks and
pull up just around the corner, get up to a crawlspace NE and save before you
go in. (A lone beetle follows you in,
as opposed to a horde of them in v1.)
Better turn around near the purple light and just crawl backwards onto
the break ledge till you see it move, immediately crawl forward till the hole
is open. Then crawl backwards into the hole and shimmy left, pull up into the S
end and get the small medipack there. Go back and left again to go E, follow
through, shoot the 2 bats in the next room, then 2 Natives, and take a left.
Follow the passage up to a huge Temple complex overlooking a river.
Go W over the terrace and left into the
first opening, run down the ramp and the level changes.
Level 4 - Cut 01, Part 2
Jump and grab the ladder on the wall,
shift left and go down into the shaft, drop onto the block below. (Certain
parts of these rooms will black out as you move about, it's probable the room
is too close to the bottom right hand corner of the Room Editor.) Head into the W passage and look up in the
end. There's a brass ball you have to shoot to open a gate further on. (If
you're out of Revolver ammo--there's no ammo near here--aim the revolver and
hit the #1 key, then shoot.) Go to the
now open gate in the S passage and enter the huge room beyond.
Shoot the Natives after the flyby and go
to the S wall, just to the right of the middle, hop up to the opening and get
the 2 x Revolver ammo (now that you no longer need it). Jump up
and shoot the brass ball (just above you) with pistols, to lower a nearby
block. Go out a few steps and jump W onto the higher ledge where the block
lowered, face N and runjump to grab the crack in the wall ahead, shimmy right
around till you can pull up and runjump to grab the corner of the entrance roof
NE. Jump from the E side to the blocks SE where you'll find a switch to pull.
Carefully jump down onto the blocks below and get back onto that ledge in the
SW corner. This time face E and runjump/grab up to the wall (you lowered this
one). Hop onto an even higher block E and jump into the dark NE corner. Face SW
and spot the ladder, you CAN jump and grab the ladder directly without using
the break ledge below. If not, jump on the ledge and quickly get onto that
ladder.
Careful, don't just pull up on the top,
but time the burner and quickly pull up on the block. duck and crawl under the
burner as it is also a reach-in switch. As soon as the burner stops, stand and
use the switch (a block appears in the N side of the room). Immediately duck
and go to the E side of the block so you can do a runjump to the W and grab the
ledge under the swinging axe.
Run past it along the wall and jump to the
SW corner block. Jump to grab the crawlspace N and follow through, jump the
blocks along the N wall to the NE corner and then get up onto the high central
ledge with the bridge.
Shoot the Native while you go onto the
bridge, then climb the ledge on the W side. Runjump SE to the ledge above the
swinging blade and enter the passage there. Follow down the stairs and climb
several stories up to a Cog wheel and a Native, shoot the native and turn the
wheel about five times to open the timed door. Jump over the wheel and run
through to a bridge that is too short to allow you to jump to the gate on the
other side, just drop/hang from the W side, drop and grab the crack, shimmy
left around and drop to the ledge below. Again hang from the side and shimmy
around, drop down and go into the passage and follow to a Boulder pit. If you
want a small medipack, shimmy to the second alcove on the entrance side
and get it. Otherwise use the monkey climb to get across the pit and climb the
block.
Jump the block to the high passage and
follow through to the gate you saw from the short bridge. Pick up the torch to
the right of the gate and go through the passage W. Jump around the pool to a
NW passage with a burning wall torch and ignite yours (there's a spare one
there, too). Get back to the gate and light the 2 wall torches to open the
gate. Step in to take the 2nd Occio del Ciaguaro. A cut scene shows a block lowering.
(Better forget about this part, but as it
is there I'll describe it and suggest you heed this warning to stay away...Turn
around and go back out of this room, in that room with the Boulders another
block has lowered. Let's investigate that. So climb back in the passage E and
follow to the ledge in the top of the Boulder Pit. Looking down N you can see
the opening in the wall. First jump down to a ledge W (using grab so you won't
bump your head) to get the Medipack. Jump/grab back up to the top ledge.
Jump the E blocks (using grab again on that first one) back to the N side, take
an angled jump into the opening, grab the monkey climb and use it to get into
that N passage. Follow and slide down in the end, to the left is a lever on the
wall and to the right a room with a block on the ledge below, the block should
cover the button behind it, but it is transparent. Use the lever to lower the
timed block, reverse roll and run down the passage and jump out to your
right. Use the button to lower the high
block in the middle of the hall, run to the other side (NE) and into the timed
gate there. (If you didn't get to the gate in time and
you didn't save, you're stuck because you can neither go back nor forward.) Use the lever to open the big gate and go through to get to the Lake
area. When running W along the stream to the lake you'll be followed by a
Native and a Fire wraith, both trying to kill you while the flyby lasts. Try
some deeper water to get rid of the wraith, but don't go too deep as the
current is too strong. And you're stuck anyway,
as you cannot proceed without some ledges over that lake... Note from
Moderator: I used the flycheat to enter the structure on the other side of the
lake, and all I found there was an inconsequential ammo pickup and a portal to
a finish trigger. I can only assume that this area is part of an unfinished
portion of the level.)
Proceed this way instead:
The door ahead opens and also a block is
lowered near the Leopard statue. So slide down and end up in a pool near the
lava cave after the level changes.
Level 3 - Intermediate 2
Climb out straight on the grey floor and
shoot that Native before he can get to the Uzi ammo SW on this floor.
Dive back in, swim W, climb out S and pick up a small medipack
from the ledge there. Go E, climb out and jump out to the roof of the structure
SE. Then runjump/grab to the roof E and from there to the red rocks S, to the structure
SW and drop through the hole. A Native has probably appeared by now, so shoot
him. Follow the ledges on Lava level into the tunnels S where you shot the
Lions head and follow that whole route described earlier: ledges, ropes, etc.,
etc. When you approach the ladder at the end, the level changes.
Level 4 - Cut 01, part 3
Climb the ladder to get back to the cave
leading to the Leopard statue. Take the
same route as before: Go N and to that gate in the E wall. Jump to the flat
ledge behind the rock formation SW of the gate, climb up S, turn and jump up
NW, climb up N and follow the ledges with some jumping to the far N side where
the ladders are. Jump and grab the ladder, you have to go down a bit before you
can go left around the corner. Go up to
climb off left onto the ledge. Jump to the W and look for the 2 slanted rocks
on the N wall, jump over them to the passage W and now keep a lookout to the
left, as a block has lowered there (near the ladder) to reveal another monkey
climb. Follow the climb to get to the ladder on the pillar, go left around and
up to the top. Jump and grab the rocks W and shimmy right to where you can pull
up. Turn around, hop back and grab, and drop down one level through the
opening.
Grab the monkey climb there and follow all
the way to the end so you are against that break ledge below. Save and
drop/grab that ledge, hang on the right hand side and pull up, run with a bit
of a left curve and jump to the next ledge, then a running jump to grab the
ladder ahead. Climb up and up the next ladder, and runjump/grab W, then a run
and jump/grab S to that break ledge so you hang on it. (Save first, face W and
take a curved running jump to the left.) Save again there on the right hand
side and pull up, run left a bit to jump and grab the first rope. Line up for
the next rope and use it to get into the structure S. Walk through and climb up
left to another monkey climb. Follow till you can drop onto the head of the
Leopard statue.
Drop down S to get to the eyes level and
place the 2 eyes. Circular rays shoot out of the eyes and also the mouth opened
(although you can't see that). Go down
to the end of the nose and climb down as far as you can, then drop/grab and get
inside. Go get the 2 Stone Tablets. A cut scene shows a gate opening in
the cave. Climb back out and find the deeper part of the pool below so you can
get down fast (a running jump S should do the trick). To the SW of this pool a
gate has opened up, go there, climb in and follow the passages up, where it
seems like a dead end just beyond the crawl space, there's a hole up in the
ceiling. Secret
#9 is
yours. Visit both sides, shoot the Natives and collect Uzis and a Shotgun
from one side, Grenades and a Medipack from the other. Then
return to the hole and take the N end, walk out onto the ledge for a small
medipack and get a nice view of the Leopard statue.
Go back inside and follow the passages
back down to ground level. That gate E opened up, but I have no idea what for,
as it will only bring you back to areas already explored.
So for placing the Tablets, head to the N
side gate (near the tail), open it with your crowbar and go in to follow back
to the Lava cave with a level change.
Level 3 - Intermediate 3
Go left through the W side upper caves and
stop at the third opening E (you did this before). Slide down backwards and
grab the edge, backflip to the structure, jump to the red rock NE and go to the
structure NE against the E wall, get down to the lava level and go out N. Jump
the ledges into the E end of the cave there, shoot a Native and get to those
receptacles in the NE corner and place the Tablets to open the door W. Follow
in and arrive in another Lava cave while the door closes behind you.
Go E along the wall and find the monkey
climb. First grab up to the top of it to get the Grenades and then drop
down, standjump and grab forward onto the monkey climb and follow to the
ladder, go right around the corner and up a bit on the right hand side to
backflip to the ledge behind. Turn N and hop onto the ledge left of the pillar,
then to the one N and jump to grab the next ladder N, go around two corners to
a ledge with another monkey climb, follow to the ledge and jump NW. Then N and
walk up to the N wall, turn E with your left shoulder against the wall and grab
up to the ledge above. Jump to grab the rocks S and shimmy right around the
corner and all the way to the end, pull up to backflip into an alcove. Hop back, grab the edge and shimmy left
along the crack to the next alcove. Jump E and get some Uzi ammo left
before you go to the E end. Save there and runjump as far as possible into the
opening below E and immediately jump again before you hit the spikes. You will
find Secret #10
when you slide into the hole, Uzis and
Uzi ammo.
Pull up on the E side, slide down and jump
ahead to the ledge. Follow that passage up a ladder and to a Large room where
you're treated to a panoramic flyby. On the SE pillar of the central structure
is a wooden wheel, turn it and watch another nice flyby as 4 coloured Spheres
descend. A hole in the floor has appeared just next to Lara. Climb down and use
another wooden wheel to lift a dam and flood the Lava cave. Go back up and jump
to the S side, go over to the S side Sphere, jump to the ledge SW and then into
the passage SW, the lava is still there, but you can dive in as there's water
on top of it (a bit strange). Now you could go and get that 2nd Carica
from the structure NE if you didn't have it already.
Now it gets confusing...
There are at least two ways to end the
level.
#1: (As perhaps intended)
Swim W then S through the cave and climb
out at the stone stairs, go up to the SW corner and jump into the upper W caves
again. Go N and left at the end to open the gates with the 2 golden nuggets
(Carica) you have. Follow through to where the level changes near the ladder,
climb the ladder and go through to a gate you can open with a button left.
Floating wooden ledges are shown in a lake. Go slide straight down to the stone
ledge below and use the grass slopes (run onto the sloped wall) to slide safely
down to the ground. The lake itself has deadly current, so don't fall in. You
could now go over to the E side and from there runjump to the first ledge and
go to the W side of the lake, but you can also go W a bit and stand as close as
you can to the higher wooden ledge, runjump and grab it to jump to the W
entrance. Follow in and go right at the pool, up the steps and look back E when
on top. There is some Shotgun ammo on a ledge to the left, jump there
and take it. Jump back and enter W, before you reach the ladders the level ends
(at least it did for me).
#2:
Swim to that wooden flood door W and into
the tomb left of it, when you look into the W wall, you can see a tunnel the
lava came from before, this time you can go in. Swim through and up for air,
then into the coloured tunnel and left at the gate, use the underwater ceiling
lever and go back for air. Go in again and this time turn right at the gate,
use the underwater ceiling lever and go back. You could swim through the gate
now, as air is close by. Just go up and climb out. Follow into a cave and shoot
the Native. Look in the SW corner and use the Cog wheel there (about 6 times),
roll and run for the door on the other side of the canyon, maybe just jump to
the bridge and runjumps will get you through (if the door is already too low to
pass through, run against it and hit "roll").
Slide down the next ramp and the level
ends.
An unexplored route:
Swim W then S through the cave and go into
the tunnel under the stone stairs S where the Lion's head is. You've been
there, follow through passing those ropes, go right around the corner there and
swim down into the tunnel E in the SE corner. Go to where you can climb out
again and the level changes at the ladder. Go up and you're back at the Leopard
statue. There is still a hole in the ground somewhere at the far SW end, but
that seems to be a way back from somewhere else and I have no idea what for... Note
from Moderator: I went down there, and the hole leads to a deep pit with burn
tiles down at the bottom.You come here from the other direction, as described
in the next section below.
Through the gate NW you'll get back to the
large cave and there is still an area unexplored...
Large Cave
Head W and to the right passing the purple
pool. Head into the passage ahead and go over the block to reach a bridge. Open
the gate with the crowbar lever and step inside. Up the ladder and end up at a
monkey climb. Follow around to a passage N (just before the end of the monkey
climb), look out and down to spot a switch on the ledge a bit down the ladder.
In the passage behind you is a shaft with a ladder at the end of a crawlspace,
go have a look first for the route as this part is timed. Go down the ladder,
shift right into the passage and find the nearby closed the gate. Go back up
and just run out with a grab to land on the ledge. Save and pull the lever,
turn left, hop back and runjump to grab up into the passage, around the corner
and back up onto the ladder, drop/grab down to the opening and quickly get in
to get through the gate...
Careful, there's a nasty deadly room
ahead, run out to the left, slide and jump over the slanted block and just
slide down, then jump from the second slope to grab the ladder, go right around
the corner. Go up a bit and backflip to a ledge where the level changes. Go up
the ladder and shoot the Native. Look for the hole in the ceiling and climb up
to the Leopard statue...
So the meaning of this last route is
beyond me...
