OK, this is my first level, so be gentle in your criticism. :)

There are three secrets in this level. I am not sure how easy to find they are
anymore, since I have looked at and played this thing about a million times --
hopefully it will be a little more challenging for you than it is for me at this
point. :)

There are also a lot of pickups in this level ('cause I like pickups!). Be
warned, though -- the next two levels of the Giza Trilogy will have far fewer
goodies to pick up -- so use them sparingly in this level!

If you nned hints, or have constructive comments for me about how to make the next
two levels better, feel free to email me at

batjen@hotmail.com

or leave a post in the Tombraiders.com Forum -- I look there often for tips and
such (if you haven't visited tombaraider.com yet, I *HIGHLY* encourage you to do so.
It's got some great stuff there, including tons of help in the Forum).

Please check back at my Web site:

For the next two levels. This one took about a month to build, but the next two
might go a little faster now that I know my way around the editor. :) The next
two levels will, of course, be the other two pyramids at Giza:

Khafre's Pyramid
Khufu's Pyramid (the Great Pyramid)

Use a program like WinZip to unzip the files. Look in the folder you just unzipped, and
you should see the following files. Here's what to do with them:

tut1.TOM file: Copy this into your c:/program files/core design/trle/graphics/wads folder.
BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL tut1.TOM FILE IF YOU WANT TO RESTORE THE
ORIGINAL WHEN YOU'RE DONE PLAYING THIS LEVEL!

SCRIPT.DAT file: This goes into your root folder: c:/program files/core design/trle folder.
BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL SCRIPT.DAT FILE IF YOU WANT TO RESTORE THE
ORIGINAL WHEN YOU'RE DONE PLAYING THIS LEVEL!

ENGLISH.DAT file: This also goes into your root folder: c:/program files/core design/trle
folder. BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL ENGLISH.DAT FILE IF YOU WANT TO
RESTORE THE ORIGINAL WHEN YOU'RE DONE PLAYING THIS LEVEL!

*CONVERTING THE .TOM FILE**********************************************************************

You will need to convert the tut1.TOM file to a tut1.tr4 file to play the level.
(BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL tut1.tr4 FILE BEFORE YOU CONVERT THIS FILE IF
YOU WANT TO RESTORE THE ORIGINAL WHEN YOU'RE DONE PLAYING THIS LEVEL!) To do this:

1. Open up the Level Converter that came with the Tomb Raider Level Editor program.

2. Under the "Edit Script" heading down at the bottom, click on the "Add" button.

3. Choose "tut1.TOM" from the list the pops up by double clicking on it. The file path to
tut1.TOM should now appear in the "Batch" window.

4. Click on the "Build All" button in the bottom left hand corner. Sit back and relax
while the Level Converter builds the level.

5. When the ***Build All Complete*** line appears in the Output window, close the Level
Converter.

6. Run tomb4.exe to play the game, and select the level called "Menkaure's Pyramid" from
the menu.

Enjoy!

*STORYLINE**************************************************************************************
************************************************************************************************
************************************************************************************************

The Great Pyramids at Giza have held a fascination with mankind for thousands of years;
literally millions have speculated on their origins, and theories of the pyramids' origins
range from having been built by an ancient civilization that predates our known history by
tens of thousands of years (The peoples of Atlantis?) to having been built by an
extraterrestrial alien culture. Along with speculations about their origins have come, of
course, speculations about their function and technology. What is the significance of the
Sphinx? What is the significance, if any, of the placement of the pyramids in relation to
one another, and in relation to both the heavens and the earth's terrain? How is it possible
that a civilization that thrived thousands of years B.C. possessed the knowledge and the
technology to conceive and construct such massive structures, on such a grand scale, that
have withstood thousands upon thousands of years of harsh desert elemental assaults?

Our heroine Lara, of course, is not immune to having a go at speculating about the Great
Pyramids herself. When not busy with other pursuits, Lara has spent years making a study
of the great pyramids, researching every paper, book, and monograph available on the subject,
and of course visiting the pyramids herself. After exhuastive research, Lara is no closer to
unlocking the secrets of the Great Pyramids than the millions whom have speculated before
her....

After having survived the near-fatal earthquake that buried her under tons of rubble, Lara
takes some time off of exploring to enjoy the company of her close friends, and recondition
her body back to form in her Wimbledon mansion. As she begins to recover, she turns her
attention to the puzzling tablets that she had unearthed from the rubble back in Egypt.
Making no headway with them, she calls upon her close friend, Jean Yves, to help her understand
their meaning. Together, they research the text, poring over the tablets for weeks on end...
until one evening they make a startling discovery; within the texts lies the code to unlocking
an ancient, as yet undiscovered set of underground passages and chambers that interconnect the
Great Pyramids of Giza! The tablets also describe the relationship between these ancient
underground chambers and the Great Pyramids, as well as a detailed textual map of gaining
access to the as yet inaccessible "secret room" blocked off at the top of Khufu's Pyramid!

Wildly excited about her newly found discovery, Lara obtains permission from the Egyptian
government to do a detailed exploration of Giza. Now fully recovered, Lara puts down in Egypt,
and begins the task of translating the ancient tablets to the terrain of Giza. When she arrives,
however, she discovers that, much to her chagrin, Von Croy has arrived before her, bringing
dozens of his evil henchmen with him; it seems that Lara's quest to unlock the secrets of the
Great Pyramids will no longer be as straighforward as it once seemed....
