===Thames Wharf Remake===

This custom level was made with the following applications:

-Tomb Raider Next Generation (TRNG) 1.2.2.7 by Paolone.
-Meta2TR v8.
-WADMerger 1.98 Beta 3 by Michiel, patched by Paolone.
-StrPix 3.9.5 Rev 14 by Turbo Pascal, enhanced by sapper.
-TRLE Sound Editor Ver 1.1 by sapper.
-FexInspect 1.1 Revision 0 by Turbo Pascal.
-TR Wad Reorganizer v1.0
-Metasequoia Ver4.5.4

I was able to learn how to use these applications in a relatively short time, thanks to the Web forum:
 http://www.tombraiderforums.com
In this forum I found useful tutorials and I got useful advice from contributors such as Titak, AkyV, Boobandie, Krystian,
sapper, Joey79100, and others. I was also able to find the beta-testers Zreen001 and laracroft1997, whom I thank for helping
me fix some problems in the level.

==Playing the level==
To play the level simply unzip the downloaded folder and double click tomb4.exe. The game should start immediately as no
installation is required.

==The design of the level==
This custom level is inspired by the level Thames Wharf from Tomb Raider III. The level looks different from the original
level, but the general plan of the level is similar to the original. The level consists of three parts. In the first
part Lara moves on the roofs of some buildings, and she can go inside some of them. In the second part Lara is in a
subterranean area that has some large water basins. In the third part Lara comes up again to the roofs of some buildings.
Like in the original level, the third part is visible (and partly accessible) from the first part. In this level it is
always possible to move between the first and third parts in either direction.

When moving from one part to the next one the game screen will freeze briefly as the game loads.

==Difficulty==
The player can choose between two modes, hard and easy. The easy mode differs from the hard mode by the following:

-Lara starts with more ammo and medipacks.
-More ammo and medipacks can be picked up in some locations.
-Some enemies will drop more ammo and medipacks when they are dead.
-Some enemies will not appear.
-The Save Game Crystals will add 500 HP to Lara's health (like the small medipacks), whereas in the hard mode
 they will add 200 HP (Lara's total health is 1000 HP).

==Saving the game==
Like in Tomb Raider III, you use Save Game Crystals in order to save your game. When you obtain a crystal you also
get a health boost. There are 15 save game crystals in the first part of the level (4 in secret areas), 4 in the
second part, and 6 in the third part (3 in secret areas).

==Skipping flyby cameras==
You can skip some flyby cameras by pressing the LOOK button.

==Lara==
Lara in this level looks identical to the one from the London levels of Tomb Raider III. However, Lara here has some
moves from Tomb Raider IV & V. There are also some custom moves that do not exist in any original Tomb Raider game.

The custom moves are:

-Ladder to ceiling climb
Lara can directly move from a climbable wall to a climbable ceiling. Just press the UP button for this move.
-Pole to ceiling climb
Lara can directly move from a climbable pole to a climbable ceiling by press the UP button.
-Crawl space moves
Lara can get out of a crawling space that is above the ground level while she is facing the exit of that crawling space.
You only press the UP button for this move. However, you need to be careful. If the exit of the crawling space is so high,
Lara can get hurt or die when she reaches the ground. To avoid an unwanted fall from a high crawling space you should
keep the WALK button pressed while Lara is crawling if you cannot see what is in front of her. Lara will not exit a
crawling space if the WALK button is pressed.

Lara can enter crawling spaces that are two-click high from ground. For this move you press first the ACTION button, and
after Lara hangs on the entrance of the crawling space you press the CRAWL button. This is similar to how Lara enters
crawling spaces that are higher than three clicks.

Lara can enter a crawling space directly from a climbable wall by pressing the CRAWL button.

While floating on water surface, Lara can enter a crawling space that is above the water level by pressing the ACTION button.

==The weapons==
Practically all the weapons of Tomb Raider III are found in this level. The weapons are generally identical to the
originals. The only big difference is that the MP5 and Grenade Launcher are combined in a single weapon called "Machine
Gun with Grenade Launcher." Lara picks up this weapon from dead villains. The Rocket Launcher is identical to the one from
Tomb Raider III, but in this game you have to manually load rockets into the launcher through the inventory screen. When
you have the Rocket Launcher and a Rocket you press LOAD in the inventory in order to load the rocket into the launcher.
When the launcher is loaded it is ready for use. After use, you have to load another rocket the same way.

In this level there is no infinite ammo. Every weapon, including the pistols, has limited ammo. The level (in either the
hard mode or easy mode) has more than enough ammo to kill all the enemies. If you are careful with your ammo and do not
waste it, you should not run out of ammo.

A technical limitation of this level is that the Machine Gun will not affect shatterable objects, so please do not waste
your MG ammo on that. If you run out of pistol ammo, you will automatically get 2 pistol shots after 8 seconds. Those
will help you break shatterable objects in case you do not have any ammo other than MG ammo.

Following is a list of the weapons with their power:

-Pistols
Each shot removes 8 HP. Lara normally shoots with two pistols, so each time she shoots you lose 2 shots and the
enemy loses 16 HP if the two shots hit it. Each pickup of pistol ammo contains 80 shots. Lara starts the level
with 320 pistol shots in the hard mode and 960 in the easy mode.

-Uzis
The power and the number of shots in each pickup is the same as the pistols. The weapon itself contains 8 shots
when you pick it up. This weapon is found in a secret area in the level. You get it from a villain after killing him.

-Shotgun
The power of this weapon is random and depends especially on the distance of the enemy. To be effective, you should
use it from a close distance to the enemy. Each ammo pickup contains 8 shots. In the hard mode there is only one shotgun
ammo pickup in the whole level.

-Machine Gun with Grenade Launcher
Each MG shot removes 13 HP, and each ammo pickup contains 80 shots. The weapon itself contains 6 MG shots when you pick
it up. This weapon is so heavy so Lara cannot use it effectively when she is running. It is better used when Lara is
stationary.

As for the grenades, each grenade removes 512 HP. Since the HP of human villains is typically 1024, it is possible
to kill most human villains with two grenades.

In the level there are two flash grenades that can be picked up in a secret area.

-Desert Eagle
You pick up the Desert Eagle from villains in the second part of the level (the subterranean part). When you pick up
the weapon you will find one shot in it. Each ammo pickup contains 16 shots. A single shot removes 128 HP.

-Harpoon Gun
Can be picked up with 16 harpoons in the second part of the level. Each harpoon removes 171 HP.

-Rocket Launcher
Can be picked in a secret area in the first part of the level. There are two rockets in the level, both in secret areas.
Each rocket removes 1024 HP.

==The enemies==
All the enemies from the original Thames Wharf level are included in this level, plus several others. Some of the enemies
look similar to each other, but they have different weapons and animations. For example, the London Goon of the original
Thames Wharf level can in this level carry two different weapons: either a sniper gun or a machine gun with rocket launcher.
Some of the Goons that carry the second weapon carry grenades, others do not.

Most of the human enemies use the same weapons as Lara's, and their weapons can be picked up when they are dead.

When Lara aims her weapon at an enemy, the enemy health bar will appear on the screen below Lara's health bar.

Following is a list of the enemies in the level:

-Crow
Looks identical to the one from the original level, but it is more intelligent and more deadly. It can push Lara
off rooftops. Its total HP is 40.

-Bat
A silly creature that you will see in the second part of the level. It has 8 HP.

-Rat
It is like the rat from the original level, but I tried to smooth it out a bit. It is faster than the original rat
and perhaps more dangerous. The HP is 40.

-Dog
A deadly enemy. You should always climb away from it and not face it directly. There are two shapes of dogs in the level,
black-colored dogs and white-colored dogs (the second shape is found in a secret area). The black-colored dogs do not
appear in the easy mode. The HP of the dog is 256.

-London Goon
The most common human enemy in the level. When it carries a sniper gun it is identical to the London Goon from the original
level, but in this level it is much deadlier. Do not stay close to a Goon carrying a sniper gun. You should climb away and
maneuver when you are fighting it.

The Goon that carries a machine gun without grenades is not very dangerous, but the one with grenades can set Lara on fire
with his grenades. Usually you can easily know when this creature is going to shoot grenades, because he does a particular
animation with a distinctive sound when he is loading the grenades into the launcher.

The HP of the London goon is 1024.

-London Guard
The human enemy that you will face in the subterranean part of the level. He can carry a pistol or a Desert Eagle.
You pick up the Desert Eagle from him. His HP is 1024.

-Villain that looks like Lara
In the first part of the level you will run into a woman that looks like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider IV. She is a deadly
creature as she uses a shotgun against you. If you maneuver right, you can kill it with minimum damage and pickup the
shotgun. Alternatively you can just escape. The HP of this creature is 1000.

-Villain in the storage area
In the bottom of the storage building you will face a man with a pistol. After you defeat him and pick up his pistol ammo,
he will rise again and he will try to hit you with a big knife. His HP is 1280.

-Villain with uzis
In a secret area in the first part of the level there is a unique villain that uses uzis. You get the uzis from him
after killing him. His HP is 1792.

-Car with wires
In the second part of the level you will find a puzzle involving a deadly yellow car with electric wires, just like
the one from the original level. However, this one moves faster.

==Keys and items==
Following is a list of keys and pickable items in the level:

-Crowbar
You pick it up in the 8th floor (top floor) of the storage building in the first part of the level, and you
use it to crack open the elctric box nearby.

-Flue Room Key
You get it from the Goon that looks through a window in the 6th floor of the storage building in the first part of
the level. You use it to open a door in the ground floor of that building.

-Fence Key
You find it inside the room that has shelves in the storage building. It opens the fence door in the alley.

-Door Key
You find it with a Goon in the 7th floor of the storage building (which is a secret area). You use it to open
a door in the 6th floor.

-Security Card
Found with two guards in the second part of the level. It opens any closed door in that part of the level.

-Desk
In the second part of the level, you find it with a guard carrying a Desert Eagle. You use it on a computer
in order to stop the alarm and open the cases that cover the switches.

-Cathedral Key
Found in a secret area in the third part of the level. It has no use.

-Eye of Isis
Found in a secret area in the third part of the level. It has no use.

-Tomb Raider III CD
Found in a secret area in the third part of the level. It has no use.

==Secrets==
There are 7 secrets in the level. If you cannot find them yourself, you can look in the file secrets.txt.
