----- THE HALLS OF RECORDS -----

The game

The story is based on the actual search of the Atlantean Halls of Records in history.
They reflect my interests in pyramid research, archeology, Atlantis and related literature and movies.
It was fun to incorporate some hints to the theories/ books of authors like Bauval, Hancock
ect. and the theories about the Great Pyramid.

I focused on the atmospherical side of the gameplay and story, so, the 8 levels
are certainly more on the mystic and darker classic adventure-, research and 'realistic
archeological' side, less of a action packed ego shooter..

( eg, I have not used a single 'underwater switch' because these were not invented 4500 BC or earlier ;-)

.

Storyline

The famous " sleeping prophet" Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) from Virginia retold
the history of the legendary continent Atlantis in his so called life readings.

After Cayce, the Atlanteans were said to use sacred crystals as power source
for machines and vehicles. Their central power crystal was the mighty Tuaoi stone
which could harness the power from the sun.

Lara is looking for the legendary Halls of Records in three different locations that
hold the story of Atlantis written on stone tablets.
When Atlantis last island Poseidia sank in 9000 BC, the fleeing Atlanteans
rescued these tablets in three different locations: Egypt, Guatemala and the Bahamas.

First station, Giza, egypt

Khufus pyramid

Lara is looking for Khufus secret book in the Great Pyramid.
Khufus real burial chamber may still be there undiscovered, too.

Giza plateau
The secret entrance to the egytian hall of records is said to lie beneath
the paws of the Great Sphinx.

Second station, Piedas Negras, Guatemala

Lara searches the fabled Mayan Valley of the shadows that is said to
lead to the ancient temple of the Atlantean priest Iltar.

Third Station, Bimini

Lara is looking for the lost temple of the Atlantean priest Hept-Supht
and also the mystic Tuaoi Stone .

*IMPORTANT GAMEPLAY TIPS:

recommended moves ( I used it regularly)
- ledgejump to climb up high walls
- spacecrawl to move forward fastly in narrow spaces

(There are three minor graphic/ animation glitches that appeared in the final stage
of work with Metasequoia for two ingame situations in two levels and I did't fix
in the end. These wouldn't change anything major of the actual gameplay and this is
my first level set, so what the heck..;-)
In any case, I added a complete Walkthrough .

Anyway, at this particular ingame stations I recommend doing a quicksave:
- giza 1, usage of some moveable blocks
- giza 2, usage of monkey swing in caves
TIP: swing more on the left side, otherwise Lara gets stuck and cant go further.)

----- INSTALLATION AND HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS-----
No installation required.
Just unzip the downloaded folder and doubleclick the tomb4.exe to start the game.

I designed and ran the game on a MacBook Pro with added full HD monitor (1920x1080, ratio 16:10)

Recommend hardware
IntelCore2Duo and later
2 ( better4) GB of RAM

The game uses a HD resolution of 1920x1080 (ratio 16:10), also the load.bmp has the same size.

If you play in other resolutions you also can use another load.bmp version with resolution
1280x1024 (ratio 4:3), it is in the LOAD folder.
If you use that version I recommend copying it into the main folder.

-----NEW MOVES-----
You can see all of Lara's new moves in her 'Notes PDA' which is accessible from the first level.
All incoming ingame PDA updates will be visible with a popup animation.

- Pole Jump:

When Lara is HANGING on a rope she can do this jump.
Then, hit JUMP to make her jump straight forward from the rope, TOWARDS the next rope.

- Ledge Jump:
When Lara is HANGING on a ledge or ladder, she can do this jump.
Then, hit JUMP to make Lara STRAIGHT UPWARDS.
( Keep holding ACTION and hit JUMP again, that way she can climp up
 long distances quite fast.)

- Ledge jump backwards :
When lara is HANGING on a ledge or ladder, she can do this jump.
Then, hit ARROW DOWN to make her turn and jump backwards.

- Crawlspace roll 1:
When Lara is SITTING DUCKED in front of a ledge, she can do this roll.
Then, hit CTRL and DOWN to make her roll straight out of a crawlspace.

-Crawlspace roll 2:
When Lara is SITTING DUCKED, she can do this role:
Then, hit ROLL to make her roll straight forward in a crawlspace.

I recommend using this move as often as possible because she will have
to handle great distances at crowded spaces at some times.
