TOMB RAIDER -- PERU LEVELS
by Loren Golden

In the attached zipped files, you will find all the files (except
the tomb4.exe program file) necessary to play six new Custom Tomb
Raider levels, all set in Peru. I recommend you create a new folder
labeled "Peru Levels" (or something distinguishing like that), as well
as two subfolders labeled "audio" and "data". All *.wav files in the
misc.zip file need to be placed in the sound\samples folder (I recommend
that you make backups of the files to be replaced first, though).
All the wad and tom files need to be placed in the graphics\wads folder,
then converted into the Peru Levels\data folder. All the *.mp3 files
need to be placed into the Peru Levels\audio folder and converted to
*.wav format with the conversion tool from TR Level Manager. The
uslogo.pak file needs to be placed in the Peru Levels\data folder, and
the load.bmp, script.dat, and us.dat files need to be placed in the
Peru Levels folder. (The tomb4.exe from the Level Editor needs to be
copied into the Peru Levels folder also.)

When converting the *.mp3 files to *.wav, it may be necessary to convert
the 102.mp3, 104.mp3, 107.mp3, 108.mp3, 110.mp3, and 111.mp3 files
individually, as I had problems with my computer crashing when I tried
converting them corporately with all the other *.mp3 files.

When built, there will be a total of seven *.tr4 files in the Peru Levels
folder -- four regular levels, two secret bonus levels, and a title
flyby level. The first secret bonus level is accessed only if you collect
all fifteen secrets from the first three levels before you collect the
fifth Emerald Key in the third level. The second secret bonus level is
accessed only if you collect all five secrets from the fourth regular
level. There are three secrets in each of the secret bonus levels
for a total of 26 secrets in the game.

All of these levels (except the Title Flyby level) are huge. Most of
them have an outdoor setting, and in these levels where you can see the
sky, it will be necessary to kill all the baddies you trigger, as in
most of these, if you have more than four baddies active at one time,
the game will crash to the desktop.

The Title Flyby level can be played as a standalone level (if you so wish).
Simply add the following lines to your script.txt file and compile:

[Level]
Name=		Title Load Screen
Horizon=	ENABLED
Layer1=		80,96,128,7
LoadCamera=	45965,3521,69929,45330,4013,71016,30
Level=		DATA\CAVES,104

I will be writing a walkthrough that will eventually be posted. Until
then, I will be happy to assist e-mail requests for help. My e-mail
address is lgolden1@kc.rr.com Please include the phrase "Tomb Raider
Custom Levels" in the subject line, otherwise you risk being
misidentified as spam and blocked from sending e-mail to my computer.

Happy Raiding!

The Story

One day, when she had finished her exercises on the assault course,
Lara was reading through some old papers she had taken from
Jacqueline Natla's office. She was sorting through them when she
found an old Sanskrit document that spoke of three Ankhs of Power.
It seems that in addition to the tripartite pendant, the Scion,
the three Atlantean rulers each possessed an Ankh of Power, which,
when brought together in the central Atlantean Temple with the
focusing device, would allow an individual to travel anywhere in
history. After the destruction of the continent, each of the three
rulers took their Ankhs with them, lest someone bring them back to
the Atlantean Temple. However, even together, the Ankhs of Power
were useless without the focusing device, which was apparently
destroyed when Atlantis slipped beneath the waves. Turning the page,
Lara's blood went cold when she read that Natla Technologies was
planning to build a new focusing device.
Suddenly the door creaked, and Lara leaped up instantly, drawing her
pistols and aiming them at the door.
"Please take it easy, Miss Croft," Winston said. "It is only I."
And he slowly shuffled across the library toward her as she collected
the papers she had dropped to the floor in haste. "I've brought the
evening paper and your afternoon tea." He poured her a cup as she
scanned the paper for anything of interest.
And she found a matter of great interest, for on the front page of
the Business Section, the paper quoted Jacqueline Natla saying that
Natla Technologies was on the verge of a monumental scientific
breakthrough that would make the computer revolution look like Stone
Age technology by comparison.
"Will there be anything else, Miss Croft?" Winston asked.
"Yes, Winston," she replied, lowering the paper into her lap and
looking sharply at her butler. "Pack your cold weather gear. We're
going back to Peru."
