The Copacahuana Idol

  Story and Important Notes

Lara got a request by her peruvian shaman friend, to bring the Copacahuana Idol back to the secret shaman association of her friend. Itīs in the hands of very old and dark Incan priest warrior caste in a very remote valley in the Andes at lake Mamacota. The idol has very potent powers for water magic. In former times it had been use for positive purposes to bring fertileness to a wide region in the area of the Incans. But now the priest warriors have developed more the darker side of the magic and force water to do strange things for there purposes of power only. And her friend told her also, that the only way to get out of this valley once there, is to get the Idol! Lara takes on this difficult challenge and makes her way to the remote valley to get the Idol and bring it back to her friend, so that it can be restored to itīs positive powers again!

 

Very important remarks:
1. You`ll get a torch in the game and you`ll have to use it several times! So donīt leave it somewhere, where you canīt get it back!
2. Block push puzzle in water block room: Donīt hold action pressed, while pushing under water! Otherwise the blocks become a bit buggy!


WALKTHROUGH

  Water Column Slopes

The level begins with Lara sliding down a waterfall slope into the depths of the remote valley at Lake Mamacota. About midway, curve left to land on a flat spot and pickup the flares.

( Secret #1 )

Facing the bottom of the slope, step to the top right corner of the triangle and take a running jump right to land on the flat tile on the opposite side. Jump into the alcove in the wall when the water rises inside of it. Quickly swim down past the spikes before the water drops. Continue to swim through the tunnel and past spikes before the water drops until you reach the top. Take a running jump over the pit when the water drops to land on the flat triangle tile outside. Face east, step back as far as possible and take a running jump with a sharp curve right up to the next flat spot on the slope. Take another running jump across the slope to the trigger tile on the opposite side. The pickup the Uzi Clips and small medipack which is Secret #1.

Slide to the bottom of the slope, arm weapons and shoot the bat. Crawl through to the entrance to the second slope, lower into the area but keep hold of the edge and shift left as far as possible. Let go, twist and curve right to avoid the first deadly water column. Curve left and slide through the middle between the next two columns. Curve right and slide into the water column ahead, swim right and pull the underwater lever. Immediately reverse roll, swim forward to avoid the boulder. Swim through the wall and drop into the pool below. Swim right, pull up and pickup the flares. Do not enter the water alcove, it is a trap. Pull up into the cavern and watch a flyby of the area.

  Main Cavern Area and Water Column Room

Head forward and two wraiths attack. Pull the wall switch on the left and watch a block lowering in the room. Head north/east, then south and take a running jump over the hot rocks into the alcove. Swim through the water, head around and let the wraiths extinguish themselves on the skulls. Swim back through the water and back out to the cavern.

 

Jump into the central water column and swim west to land in another water column making sure to keep clear of the middle space (it is a death fall if you land there). Angle south/west and swim into the adjacent column. Angle north/west and swim into the next adjacent column. Face west, swim down and into the water alcove in the west wall. Pull the underwater lever which switches off the electricity. Return to the water column, face north/east and enter the colunm next to the jumpswitch. Face north, dive out of the column and grab the jumpswitch. Watch a cutscene of the middle area where spikes have lowered making it safe to fall into.

 

Swim through the east exit, swim up and back to the first water column. Return to the column next to the jumpswitch. Face north, dive out of the column but this time, land in the alcove below. Jump over the hole and pickup the Crowbar. Drop back into the water, swim through the east exit, swim up and back to the first water column. Face south/east, dive and take a running swim into the column in the corner. Pickup the Uzi ammo and fall back down into the pool. Swim through the east exit again, swim up and back to the first water column. Face south/west, dive and take a running swim into the column in the corner with the blade. Swim down, timed to avoid the blade and pickup the large medipack. Drop back into the lower pool. Swim into the middle, fall to the bottom of the tunnel back in the cavern.

 

Climb out of the tunnel and head to the north/east corner of the cavern. Face west, backflip to the slope behind and grab the ladder above. Climb up the ladder, through the spike trap, down the next ladder, down to the bottom and pickup the Uzi ammo and Uzis. Climb back up the ladder, through the spike trap and down the next ladder, back into the cavern area. Arm Uzis, jump back into the central water column and swim through the west entrance. Turn left, swim out of the column and into the pool. Head to the middle water cube, face north, dive and swim through the water cube, arm Uzis and shoot the gong as you fall into the tunnel at the bottom. Watch a cutscene of the door opening in the tunnel. Head down the tunnel and watch a cutscene of the Incan Pyramid ahead.

  Incan Pyramid

Take a running jump, grab the bridge and pull up. Head into the Pyramid, turn right and drop to the lower level. Head to the north/east corner, drop into the hole and pry off the Inca Magic Stone with the crowbar. Watch a cutscene of a closed door and wall receptacle back in the water column area. Climb out of the hole, climb the ladder to the first level and head back to the bridge to the entrance. Face the entrance door, take two jumps back and a running jump with grab (to change trajectory) to land back in the tunnel. Exit the tunnel, back into the cavern.

 

Jump into the central water column and through the west entrance to the first water column. Head to the water column in the south wall, swim down and jump into the south alcove. Climb the block, place the Inca Magic Stone in the wall receptacle on the left and head through the newly opened door.

   Boulder Cave

Head right to the corridor with the rolling ball. When the ball is about half way down the first slope rolling towards you, take a running jump over it. Jump up and shoot the vase on the fire block, reverse and jump back over the rolling ball as it rolls towards you. Head right to the opposite corridor with another rolling ball. When the ball is about half way down the first slope rolling towards you, take a running jump over it. Jump up and grab the jumpswitch at the end and reverse roll. Take another running jump over the boulder at it's lowest point in the corridor as it rolls towards you and run to the top. Head through the break in the fence on the left to the south wall and through to the other corridor. Turn left, head up the ramp past the two trigger tiles, reverse roll and head back down the corridor. Reverse roll, head back up the ramp, reverse roll onto the trigger tile and run back down the corridor again into the newly formed water column. Swim up, pull the underwater lever (timed to avoid the boulder on the way down), and run forward up the rest of the ramp. Climb down the ladder on the right and pickup the Metal Key. Climb back up, head down the ramp, jump over the boulder and head through the break in the fence on the right. Drop into the water, swim to the south/east corner and pickup the small medipack . Exit the water and back out to the corridors. Exit via the water column room and drop through the middle hole back into the tunnel in the main cavern.

   Main Cavern

Climb out of the tunnel and head north/west to the west wall of the orange structure. Face east and from the rightmost corner of the structure, take a standing jump and grab the edge. Pull up, make a banana jump east and pickup the flares. Make a banana jump back to the west ledge (or drop and redo the standing jump from the west wall). Face north/west and take a standing jump to the ledge on the left. Angle north/east, take another standing jump to the ledge ahead and pickup the large medipack. Drop to the ground, head to the south/west corner of the cave and crawl into the crawlspace. Pickup the 2 x Uzi Ammo and exit. Head to the north wall and use the Metal Key in the lock beside the entrance, lowering the deadly spikes. Head to the entrance, shoot the 2 Inca Warriors emerging from the orange structure, then swim into the water corridor.

  Water Shifting Room

Swim left, through the corridor and into the very cool Water Shifting Room. When the water level drops, run to the south alcove and pickup a torch. Angle to face north/west and when the water level drops, dash into the west alcove before the door shuts. Light the torch, angle north/east and when the door opens, run, curve left a bit and dash for the corner alcove.

( Secret #2 )

Angle south/east and when the water drops, dash to the alcove in the east wall. Light the flame holder, angle north/east and when the water drops, run as close as possible to the closed door in the north wall. When the water rises, Lara should drop the torch so that it floats into the alcove when the door opens. When the water drops, pickup the torch, light it again, then light the flame holder in the opposite alcove. Head to the door as close as possible and when the water rises, Lara should drop the torch so that it lands outside the door. When the water drops, pickup the torch and run to the alcove in the north/west corner. Facing south/west, from the left most side of the door, run to the alcove in the west wall. Now the gate behind is open, drop the torch and pickup the Crossbow ammo and Crossbow which is Secret #2. Pickup and light the torch again, angle north/east and when the door opens, run, curve left a bit and dash for the corner alcove.

Drop the torch and head back into the main room. Facing the south wall, wait for the water to rise, then swim up above the jumpswitch. When the water drops, slide on the slope above the switch, grab the edge, let go and grab the jumpswitch. Swim down so as not to lose life when the water drops again. Arm Uzis, face the wall with the vase and swim up to the slope above the vase. When the water drops, arm Uzis again and shoot the vase as you slide down, with some loss of life. Swim back to the alcove where the vase was, reverse roll wait for the water to rise again. Swim up and to the right through the newly opened door. Pull the underwater switch, reverse roll, swim out, up and to the right through the opening in the ceiling.

  Water Slopes Room

Swim to the north/west corner and pickup the Crossbow ammo. Swim to the south/west corner and pull up into the alcove. Head through the room and walk under the jumpswitch. Get as close as possible to the wall under the jumpswitch, then angle slightly to the left and sidestep until Lara is at the wall but not swimming. Jump up and grab the jumpswitch and watch the cutscene of a door opening back in the water slopes area. Swim to the north/east corner and back into the water shifting room. Swim down to the north/west corner, through the corridor and pickup the torch where you left it. Head to the end of the corridor, face the south wall, get as close as possible then jump up with torch in hand. Lara will be catapulted up and drop the torch onto the lowered block above. Climb out, pull the wall switch, raising the block. Arm weapons and kill the 2 bats in the slopes area then head back to the raised block and pickup the torch. Head out to the slopes room angle to face south/east and take a standing jump to the block ahead. Angle to face south/east and jump off the slope to the ledge with the closed door. Angle to face south/west and take a running jump to the small slope against the wall, then jump off that with a curve left into the alcove. Light the torch and face out to the water slopes. Angle to face north/east, take a running jump to the slope ahead, then jump to the ledge with the closed door. Facing west, take a standing jump from the back of the wall to the slope ahead. Slide a bit, then jump to the next slope, jump off to the next slope, slide a bit and jump with a curve right to the block. Take a standing jump to the ledge and light the wall torch in the alcove. Back out in the water slopes area, take two jumps back from the edge and then a running jump to the slope ahead. Slide a bit, then jump off to the next slope, slide and jump into the alcove in the west wall. Head into the room, light the wall torch and exit back to the water slopes area where the door is now open in the east wall. Drop the torch and swim to the east alcove.

( Secret #3 )

Face east, take a jump and a step back, then take a running jump to the slope ahead. Slide then jump with a curve to the right to the next slope, then slide and jump back and forth between the next two slopes, making your way eastward. If you're not facing north, then twist to face north and when you're at the east most sides of the two slopes, facing north, make a curve left to the small triangular slope. Curve right to land on the next slope and a jump off that slope into the west alcove. Light the wall torch, climb the block on the right and pickup the 2 Revolver ammo which is Secret #3.

Head through the north water corridor and pickup the Heavy Silver Key . Reverse, swim through the hole, then west and up back into the water slopes room. Climb into the south alcove, use the Heavy Silver Key and head through the gate. Jump to the left, where there are two trigger tiles, the first one activates the blade below and the next one stops it. Jump between the two trigger tiles until you get the blade to stop as far away as possible from the item below, then exit south to the water column room. Swim to the lower middle water block and drop back into the cavern area. Head through the north door, back into the water shifting room which is now filled completely with water. Swim to the top, back into the water slopes room. Head into the south alcove, climb down the ladder, face one of the ladders and pickup the Golden Plate . Immediately jump back, then forward and grab the ladder before the trap door falls out from underneath. Shift to the left, make sure your health bar is full, then drop to the ground. As you exit, shoot the 2 Inca Warriors following you. Head south up the slope and use the Golden Plate on the east block, opening the trap door just above. Climb the block, turn around and use the ladder up into the next area.

  Multiple Boulder Corridors

Pull up into the corridor and move into the small alcove. The next time the boulder comes, run close behind the boulder and jump into the small alcove at the end of the boulder slope. Let the boulder roll back and then jump back to the slope and run into safety.

( Secret #4 )

To get the secret at the end of the slope you have to do a banana jump around the boulder (If you jump to the alcove mentioned above, a fire makes the secret inaccessible!) So run a bit behind the boulder on the right side and then do a curved jump around the boulder, when itīs rolling back. Best done on the second, ascending half of the slope! Pickup the Uzi ammo which is Secret #4.

The next corridor is a bit hard to describe but when you see that there is only one boulder rolling towards you, run along the righthand side and wait at the medipack for a few seconds. Angle left and when the last boulder on the left passes by, run to the left side and up the slope to the end.

( Secret #5 )

Run ahead of the boulder, avoid the flames and pickup the Shotgun ammo which is Secret #5.

If you didn't go for the secret, run behind the boulder, dash past the flames and curve right into the alcove. Let the boulder pass, head right, jump over the flames to the next corridor. Head down, climb up on the right and into the next area.

  Cog Wheel and Spikes Room

Run straight ahead to the end of the room, turn right and jump over the slope into a safe alcove. Wait a few seconds, pull the lever and a boulder will drop, hopefully getting rid of the Skeleton and 2 Raptors for you. Climb back out, head forward to 3 wooden trigger tiles. The first one resets the other 2 triggers. Step onto the second trigger, activating one of the spikes on the left. Step onto the third trigger so that the spikes are going up at opposite times as far apart as possible. Then with Lara's back to the slopes, angle to face south/east, backflip, slide a bit and grab the jumpswitch. Immediately reverse roll when you land, and run right to avoid the spikes.

( Secret #6 )

Pull the cog wheel 5 times, turn left, run, jump and do a running dive with roll through the gate. Drop into the water slope, reverse, then backflip to the other side. Pickup the Revolver ammo which is Secret #6. Pull the cog wheel 5 times, reverse roll and dash through the corridor. Sprint and hold action pressed, grab the edge of the pit on the other side and exit.

Head to the north wall and through the corridor to the next area. Note: You also see a wall switch for a timed run to a secret here. But itīisnīt possible yet. See later for secret 7!

  Underwater Push Block Room

The order to work on placing the pushblocks is "blue" first, "green" second and "orange" third.

Blue Push Block
1. Push the 1st block forward 2 spaces and remember that it was sitting on the orange tile.
2. Turn left and pull the next block back 3 space and remember that it was sitting on the blue tile.
3. Enter the water column on the left, swim through to the end and exit east.
4. Head to the space to the right of the red water block, angle south/east and walk exactly between the red and blue blocks to the other side.
5. Push the blue block south into the water column, then east.
6. Swim through the water corridor and exit south.
7. Push the block south onto the blue tile and watch a cutscene of the closed door on the other side of the maze.

Green Push Block
1. Head through the corridor and push the green block south once and remember it was sitting on the green tile.
2. Swim through the corridor and exit east.
3. Head back through the space between the red and blue blocks and pull the green block back 3 tiles.
4. Head back through the space between the red and blue blocks (or swim and exit south if easier), 5. Head through the corridor and push the green block north once.
6. Head back through the corridor, pull the green block back twice and push west once.
7. Head through the space between the red and blue blocks (or swim and exit east) and push the green block east once.
8. Head through the corridor, through the space between the red and blue blocks and push the block north once. 9. Then pull/push/pull/push the green block to the green tile and watch a cutscene of the closed door.

Orange Push Block
1. Pull the orange block south (back) once, swim into the water column on the left, exit south.
2. Head through the corridor, pull the block twice and push once north.
3. Push west, swim through and exit south.
4. Head through the corridor, push north, swim and exit east.
5. Push west, swim, exit south and pull block twice.
6. Swim, exit south, push block west once and watch a cutscene of the door finally opening.

Head through the door, jump over the pit, through the moving spikes and jump over the next into the corridor beyond. Head through the corridor, past the swinging blades to the end. Head through the water on the left and pull the underwater switch. Watch a cutscene of the gate opening in the previous room. Swim left and the water current will push you back out. Head past the swinging blade and enter the water on the right. Swim down the hole and up through the top back into the previous slopes area. Swim to the west entrance and enter through the newly opened gate into the next area.

( Secret #7 )

You may have ask yourself already, how to manage to do the timed run, which starts at the wall lever in the Cog Wheel Cave. It`s now becoming possible. But you have still to clear the way in the Push Block Room. Push/Pull the cages to areas, where there are no obstacles in the run. Then start the run, which leads through the Push Block Room, all the corridors filled with traps to the slopes pool and finally to the lowered block at the entrance to the next area, the Incan Village. You have 70 s. To save time in the Push Block Room you have to move through, where the edges of the red and another water block touch each other and you should dive through the slopes pool. Pickup the Revolver ammo which is Secret #7.

  Incan Village

Head right, avoid the water and watch a cutscene of the area ahead. Drop the torch where you can find it again. You have two levels here in the village. In each corner room of the ground level you`ll solve a task to open the door in the corner room above in the upper level. And each of the four corner room pairs have a certain trap in it. So you can connect each symbol, which is above the upper room entrance with a certain trap. And in each of the four corner rooms of the upper level you`ll do tasks to switch off a burner behind the waterfall in the village. And there you`ll find a trap puzzle, where you can use your knowledge of the symbol-trap connection!

( Secret #8 )

Stay in front off the water wheel and press and hold action. The water wheel will take Lara to the JS above it. By pulling it the spikes in a pit in the room on the ground level in the east wall retract. Go there and open the door with the crowbar and shoot the 2 small dinosaurs and 1 Raptor in the east wall. Move the skeleton on the left and pickup the Uzi ammo . Pickup the Crossbow in the pit, which is Secret #8.

Pull the lever (opening the gate in the room above) and sideflip to avoid the boulder. Exit and turn right, head up the ramp, turn right at the top and enter the last room. Pickup the Shotgun and shoot the Incan Warrior. Pickup the Shotgun ammo he leaves behind. Pull the switch on the opposite wall and exit.

Head down the ramp and to the room in the south/west corner. Avoid the blades, pickup the Shotgun ammo and head into the alcove. From the middle of the tile facing the crawlspace with the vase, arm the Shotgun, jump and shoot the vase (using the "look + up" keys helps) opening the gate in the room above. Exit, head up the ramp to the room above (south/west corner). Pickup the Uzi ammo on the pedestal, avoiding the blades. Head to the right side of the hole in the floor and face the crack in the corner of the north wall. Arm Uzis and jump back into the hole while shooting to get the vase in the crack in the wall.

Exit and head to the lower north/west corner of the village and enter the room below. There is a pushable pillar on the left and textured floor tiles which have hidden spikes. Facing east, push the pillar on the left once. Facing south, pull the pillar back twice. Facing east, push the pillar forward once. Facing north, pull the pillar back once. Facing south, push forward once and the gate in the room above opens. Head to the room above, but do not enter as spikes guard the entrance. Angle right and jump over the spiked tile. Pull out the block and pickup the Crossbow ammo . Push the block onto the wooden trigger tile and watch a cutscene of the flames behind the waterfall. Shoot the Incan Warrior if he appears and exit watching to avoid the spikes on the way out.

Head to the north/east corner, head to the right side of the fire and pull the wall switch, opening the door in the room above. Head to the room above, shoot the vase on the right, extinguishing the flames in the room below. Head to the hole in the floor and grab the jumpswitch on the wall. Watch a cutscene of the flames extinguishing in the room behind the waterfall and exit.

Head north to the waterfall and enter the room behind. The room is laden with differently marked tiles which are deadly in different ways. Facing west, step onto the first tile on the left, then jump back to avoid the spikes. Facing west, step onto the next tile, then jump back to avoid the spikes. Facing west, step onto the next tile, then jump back to avoid the boulder. Facing east, head back out to the unmarked floor area and facing west, head to the last tile on the right. Facing west, step onto the first tile, then jump back to avoid the boulder. Angle to face south/west, jump onto the next tile, then jump back to avoid the boulder. Move onto the south/west tile, then jump to the north/west tile and back to avoid the blades. Move onto the north/west tile, face south/west and run over the next tile, releasing the boulder and continue to the alcove in the wall. Face north/east and make your way back the way you came to the safe, unmarked floor area on the other side. Head through the opened gate and pickup the first of two Statuettes from the pedestal. Watch a cutscene of a gate opening access to the next area and exit the rooms back to the village. Before exiting the village, head to the middle of the east wall, use the crowbar and shoot the 2 small dinosaurs and 1 Raptor in the east wall. Move the skeleton on the left and pickup the Uzi ammo . Before exiting the village, head to the middle of the west wall, use the crowbar, pickup and light the Torch and exit. Head south into the next area.

   At Mamacota Lake

Watch a cutscene of the area, drop the torch and shoot the 3 small dinosaurs on the right. Pickup the torch and head to the south/east corner of the lake. Jump up to the flat triangle on the small hill on the left. Face north and with a running jump and curve left, jump to the triangle ledge ahead. Light the wall torch, permanently raising the trap door ahead. Stand on the wooden trigger tile, drop the torch and take a running jump and grab to the middle structure. Run right and take another running jump and grab to the north ledge ahead. Run and reverse roll off the wooden trigger tile and run back to the middle structure. Run and jump forward from the middle structure to the far south ledge. Run onto the wooden trigger tile and back to the middle structure. Run to the right back to the east ledge and pickup the torch. Reverse roll and run to the middle structure, drop the torch and take a running jump and grab to the north ledge. Reverse roll off the wooden trigger tile and run/jump back to the middle structure. Pickup the torch and run/jump to the south ledge. Light the wall torch, step onto the wooden trigger tile and run back with torch to the middle structure.

Drop the torch, run right to the east ledge, reverse roll onto the trigger tile and run and jump back to the middle structure. Run right and jump/grab the north ledge. Run left, reverse roll onto the trigger tile then run onto the second trigger tile and back to the middle structure. Run and jump/grab the west ledge and reverse roll onto the trigger tile. Run/jump/grab back to the middle structure and back to the east ledge. Reverse roll onto the trigger tile and run/jump/grab back to the middle structure. Pickup the torch, run/jump to the north ledge and light the wall torch.

Drop to the ground, swim to the south/east corner and into the underwater tunnel, careful to avoid the blades. Pickup the second of two Statuettes from the pedestal and exit. Swim out of the water at the south/east corner of the lake. Jump up to the flat triangle on the small hill on the left. Face north and with a running jump and curve left, jump to the triangle ledge ahead. Step onto the trigger tile, then run/jump and grab the middle structure. Curve right, then run/jump and grab to the north ledge. Head left and jump to the small ledge to the west. Face east with a slight angle north and take a standing jump and grab the first pole. Let go and grab the second pole and with a sharp curve right, let go and grab the third pole. Swing to the next poles until you reach the ledge on the far east wall. Turn around, angle to face north/west and take a running jump and grab the pole then jump to the ledge ahead. Place the first Statuette, extinguishing the flames, then place the second Statuette. Watch a cutscene of the lake opening up access to the Incan Pyramid below and a trap door opening behind. Drop through the trap door, pickup the first Wheel and exit. Take a running jump north/west to the ledge in the village and drop to the lower level. Head to the south tunnel, past the water wheel and through the east doorway back to the water slopes room.

   Main Cavern and Incan Pyramid

Swim and climb into the south doorway, through to the water columns room and back down into the main cavern. Jump into the large water column and pickup the second Wheel . Swim back through the water column room and back down into the main cavern. Head through the tunnel, back to the Incan Pyramid.

Drop into the water, head to the south/east side of the pyramid and pickup the Uzi ammo . Climb into the pyramid and shoot the 2 Incan Warriors and 2 skeletons and climb the ladder to the upper level.

( Secret #9 )

Head to the south bridge and into the alcove at the end of the bridge. Climb up through the hole in the ceiling and into the water column ahead. Swim through the corridor as the door opens in front. Pull the underwater lever and pickup the Flares . Face east, dive then arm Uzis, twist and shoot the vase in the upper crawlspace. Pull the underwater lever and swim left to the boulder. Reverse roll and let the boulder push Lara back outside. Pickup the Crossbow ammo which is Secret #9.

Swim up through the hole in the ceiling, careful to avoid the darts. Pull the underwater lever in the second alcove and swim up to the surface back inside the village. Head back to the unflooded lake in the valley to the south wall, and pull the wall switch in the south tunnel. Exit and head into the tunnel in the north wall, pickup the Revolver ammo and exit. Drop through the unflooded lake to the top of the pyramid. Pickup the small medipack on the way down, head over the west bridge, climb into the alcove in the west wall. Pickup the third Wheel and exit back to the Pyramid. Place the three wheels in the wheel mechanism on the wall and pickup the Copacahuana Idol mask. Swim through the hole in the ceiling and take jumps between the slopes to the ledge on the side. Make your way up the slopes to the very left side of the water door. From here you can shoot the gong by manual aiming with the shotgun. The water vanishes and you can continue your way up, where the level ends with a short flyby with Lara on the flat spot in the river.
