Set the gamma level to 10 or you cannot see anything in the dark. Or at least
to 6 to keep the atmosphere. Parts of this game are very dark. The default
setting of 3 was too dark for me. Or maybe it just my old video card getting

Level 0:
Home

You cannot save in this level. [End note]
You start in the bedroom. Go across the room and
press the left pushbutton to open the door. Press the right pushbutton to hear
music. Exit the room onto the balcony. Press the pushbutton and the door opens
to your left. The room seems to be an empty bedroom. Exit and notice the closed
door in the corner. You get a flash of a cut scene that shows a room somewhere.
Go down the balcony and enter the washroom. Press the pushbutton to open the
next door. It is an empty toilet. Continue and go up the small ramp. You can
see the garden house and a stealth bomber flies overhead. Go to the bookcase
and a second stealth bomber flies overhead. Go down the ramp and press the
pushbutton to open the next door. This room just has a piano and a few
artifacts.
Go down the steps and see a T-rex head mounted on
the wall. To the left is the doorway to the dining room. Press the left
pushbutton. The door opens but the room is empty and there is another closed
door. Press the right pushbutton. The door opens but the room is just a toilet.
Exit the room and Winston appears with the tea tray. Go straight across the
corridor to a kitchen. Go to the right and see the doorway to the cellar. Ahead
is the dining room again which has nothing useful.
Go down the steps into the cellar. Go to the right
and press a pushbutton. The door opens to your left. Enter the room and go to
the right corner to pick up flares. Press the
pushbutton on the wall. The light turns on in the room and a rat attacks your feet. Exit and cross the corridor
into a room with many sinks. Press the pushbutton on the wall to turn on the
lights. Exit out the other doorway from this room. You can see a closed door
and a key lock. Turn to the right and press the pushbutton to open the door.
Enter the room and press the pushbutton. The light turns on in the room. Pull
down the hard-to-see wall switch on the wall to the left of the doorway. You
get a cut scene of a door opening on the balcony. Exit and go to the left.
Press the pushbutton to turn on the lights in that room. Go up the steps and go
through the kitchen to the steps to the balcony.
Go up the steps onto the balcony. Go to the open
door and enter. Climb the ladder and shimmy to the right. You are in the attic.
There are boxes beside a rafter. Move one box to the other rafter and pull up
onto the top. Pull back a box from the wall and go behind it to pick up the racetrack key. Safety drop to the floor. Pull the
other two boxes back and pick up the pistols
from beneath the box at the ladder entrance. You may have to shoot two rats. Climb down the ladder and exit the open
door.
Return to the cellar and shoot that rat for revenge. Use the key in the key lock to open
the door beside you. Exit the door into the garden. Retreat up the steps and
wait as a friendly mercenary shoots six dogs. It
is best to holster your guns so that you do not shoot the mercenary by mistake.
The dogs do not go up the steps. Exit out the door into the garden area. Enter
the garden house at the other end of the garden. Pull back the boxes at the
back wall. Pull down a hard-to-see wall switch that was hiding behind the
boxes. You get a cut scene of a door opening back in the house. Enter the right
tunnel and push the box as far as possible. Enter the room and press a
pushbutton. You hear a gate open. Exit the house and go left to find the open
gate. Enter the follow the path to the end. Pull down the wall switch on the
hedge. You hear a door open. Exit and you can see an opening into the attic of
the garden house. You can get up there to shoot two
rats.
Go to the front of the garden house and enter the
open door. Go down the steps and shoot two rats.
The are flares on the floor in a corner. Move
the boxes aside and pick up the racetrack key
under the inside corner box. Exit this room and return to the main house. Go up
the steps and through the kitchen. Enter the door to the left of the T-rex
head. If the door is closed, press the pushbutton again twice. Enter the next
open door. Use the key in the key lock to open the next door. You exit into the
outdoors. Run down the steps and the level ends. There are no statistics.
Level 1:
Hills
You start in a canyon between rock walls. Go
forward around a large rock wall and go left. Hop over the rocks into an open
area. You can see a closed door in the far right corner. Go left and go behind
a small rock wall to see a key lock. Continue beside the wall and enter an
opening in the rock wall. You enter another open area with a pond. Dive into
the water and swim into the big underwater cave. Swim straight to the back
wall. Look to the right and see a closed gate. Swim to the left and loop around
to the left and swim straight into an underwater tunnel. Pull down an
underwater lever near the tunnel entrance. You get a cut scene of the closed
door opening in the starting area. Swim up and surface into a cave for air.
Pull up onto the ledge and get secret #1. Walk
around the ledges and pick up shotgun shells.
Get into the water and follow the underwater tunnel. Pick up shotgun shells and a small
medipack. Swim back for air. Swim towards the closed gate that you saw.
Swim onto the floor at the bottom and pick up Uzi ammo.
You may swim around and see more closed gates. Swim back into the first cave
and surface in the pond.
Exit this area and return to the starting area. Go
to the back wall and enter the open gate. Slide down a slope and a green poisonous lizard attacks. You also get a flash
of a cut scene that is too quick to see what it shows. Pick up Uzi ammo and a key (K1).
Stand jump over the slope to exit the room. Run back to the water pond with the
lizard behind you. Get into the water. When the lizard enters the water it
dies. Use a medipack to cure any poison. Return to the key lock. Use the key
and get a cut scene of an underwater door opening. Return to the pond again.
Swim forward into the cave entrance. Then look to
the upper right to see the open door from the cut scene. Swim inside and go to the
left. Pull down an underwater lever on the wall. Exit the room and swim to the
right. At the back wall, swim to the right. Loop around to the left onto an
underwater tunnel. Continue to swim through an open underwater gate. Surface
for air and pull up into the most right ledge of the three openings. Go
straight and through a crawl space. You stand up in a room with a fenced
section. Go left and follow the wall and enter a dark
room. Pull out the middle of three moveable wire-mesh cages while rats bite you. Hop
onto the cage and pull up into the corridor above. You are behind the fenced
section.
Go forward and crawl, through a crawl space. Stand
up and run to the right as Lara looks at castle. Enter a cave and run to the
right to the end of the cave. Pull up onto a column in the right corner of the
cave. Face the back wall and pull up onto a ledge of the room above. This trip
is difficult because a lizard and vultures attack you. Run towards a medipack
in the distance. Ignore it and go to the right. Continue and go to the right
through a large doorway into a room with steps. Pull back the moveable cage
from the left at the base of the steps. Pick up the pistols
and shoot the two vultures. Pull back the
moveable cage from the right at the base of the steps. Pick up a small medipack.
Retrace the path and pick up the small medipack you ignored earlier. Return to the
entrance hole and pick up Uzi ammo near the
wall. Save the game. Shoot the green poisonous lizard
and drop back into the cave. Pick up a key (K1)
from the dead lizard. If you cannot get the key, reload and run outside the
cave to the front of the castle and shoot the lizard in that area. Then the key
should not be stuck in a rock wall. Return through the crawl space back to the
rats and the moveable cages. Shoot two rats and
pull out the other moveable cages from the wall. Get into the alcove behind the
cages. You get secret #2 and pick up Desert Eagle clips. Return to the front of the castle
and the cave again to pull up into the castle again.
Return to the room with the moveable cages. Before
you enter the room you can see a key lock on the far wall. Enter the room and
go into the far right corner alcove with fake windows and pick up flares. The other alcoves are empty. You can go up
the steps onto the battlements of the castle. Go near the edge and the camera
view changes. I found nothing there. Exit the room and go to the key lock in
the corridor. Use the key in the key lock and the gate opens beside you.
Enter the room and see a closed door in the wall in
front of you. Go left and go left under the archway to pick up Uzi ammo from the corner floor. You also hear a door
open. Return to the room and enter the open door. You get secret #3 and pick up shotgun
shells. Exit this room and continue to follow the corridor to a large
room. There are many pillars and a large cross on the wall. There is an opening
under the cross and another in the left wall behind the pillars. Go left and
through that opening. Move the cage from the corner of the room to under a high
opening in the entrance wall. Pull up onto the ledges above the large room. Run
around the ledges to the far corner. Run and jump onto the ledge below the
cross. You get secret #4 and pick up Uzi's and Uzi ammo.
Safety drop to the floor.
Enter the opening under the cross. Follow the
corridor and pick up grenades on an alcove
floor. Look over the railing and see a deep pit and a zip line across it.
Continue to follow the corridor to a small room. Pull back a moveable cage and
pick up a shotgun. Push the cage next to high
column. Pull up onto the column and pick up flares.
Turn around and run and jump to grab a ledge. Pull up into another corridor. Go
around the column and find the zip line. Use the zip line and land in the
opening in the side of the castle.
Follow the corridor and pick up a small medipack. Stand on the right side of the slope.
Slide down backwards and land on a flat section for secret
#5. Pick up a rocket and slide to the
bottom of the slope. Save the game before you drop into the next area. Safety
drop to the floor. You are in a large room with lava. Shoot three creatures. Be careful of the fireballs that they
throw at you. The creatures explode when they die. Stand at the entrance wall
where you drop into the room. Follow the corridors to the far right corner of
the room and get secret #6 and pick up Uzi ammo. You must have seen a pushbutton on the
wall. Press that pushbutton #1 and turn around to see a spike roller fall into
the lava. Go to the opposite side of the lava floor. Press pushbutton #2 on the
wall and a second spike roller falls into the lava.
Go back to pushbutton #1. Go to the left side of
the pushbutton. Grab the wall and climb down a ladder to drop into the area
below. Press pushbutton #3 on the wall. Go beside the columns for Uzi ammo. Jump over the fence and dive into the
water. Search the bottom for MP5 clips and Uzi ammo. Pull up at the back ledge. Pull up onto a
block and stand jump to grab the higher block in the corner. Pull up into
another room. Pull up to the corner column. Run and jump the columns around the
room. Pull up into a higher room. Go straight to the back wall and pick up a large medipack from the floor. You can drop through a
hole in the floor to land by pushbutton #1 in the lava room. I followed the
columns to get back to the lowest room with the water again.
Pull up onto a block and run and jump into the
other fenced section. Go forward to pick up a large
medipack. Side jump between the fences and follow the corridor. Enter a
small alcove for Uzi ammo and continue to the
end. Go to the left corner and pick up Uzi ammo
off the floor. Pull up onto a block in the right corner. Pick up a small medipack and press pushbutton #4. Drop onto the
floor. Get onto the middle ledge and stand jump up the slope to get to the back
wall. Jump onto a slope and slide down. Jump forward to grab the wall ladder
and climb to the top.
Go to the left to the tunnel where the spike
rollers were located. Follow the tunnel to a small room. Shoot two green poisonous lizards. Pick up a small medipack from the floor. To the left is a small
room with a closed door. Go right and crawl through the crawl space. You see
platforms in a flooded room. Dive into the water and swim to the nearby right
corner to pull down an underwater lever on the wall. Swim to the opposite
corner of the room and pull up onto a platform. Jump the platforms to get back
to the crawl space. Crawl through and go straight into the far room. Enter the
now open door. Slide down the slope and the level stops. You get the statistics
screen. Hit ENTER and the level changes.
Level 2:
Castle
You bounce down some slopes and land in a water
trench. You have lost everything, except pistols, from the previous level. Hop
onto the ledge by the water and go to the middle. Run and jump to the sloped
wall on either side. Slide down and grab the edge. Slide down and grab another
edge. Shimmy until you are between two trap doors on the floor below. Drop onto
the floor and the trap doors open. Stay there as two rolling balls fall into
the holes. One hole has a wall ladder. Climb down to the bottom. Go through a
crawl space. Stand up in a room for secret #1 and
shoot three rats. Search the floor of the room
for grenades and a small
medipack in the corners near the windows. Pull up onto the ledge to pick
up two rockets, rocket launcher, and a health crystal. Notice the water room on the other
side of the windows. Go back through the crawl space and climb the wall ladder
to the top.
Jump over the two holes and follow the trench. Stand
jump up a slope. Continue and enter a small room. Ignore the steps and get into
the crawl space in the lower right wall. Crawl through into a room. Stand up
and get secret #2. Pick up shotgun shells and a health
crystal. Exit the room and go up the steps. Climb the wall ladder and
pull up into a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a ledge with pillars. Turn left and
pick up flares. Run to the end and pick up a shotgun shells. Save the game. Slide down the slope
and jump to grab the ledge with the water trench. Get into the water and swim
down the trench and through an underwater crawl space.
You emerge into a pool with steep sides. There is
one side only where you can stand. Swim down the hole in the center of the
floor. Swim to the ledge with the Shiva statues and pick up harpoons. Swim behind the columns at the same level
and pick up shotgun shells. You can surface
anywhere for air. On the bottom floor there are harpoons
at the skeleton. There are also harpoons in the
opposite corner. However, piranha fish swim in
the bottom section only so be careful. Swim above the ledges and you are safe.
Swim onto the ledges opposite the Shiva statues.
Search the floor and pick up grenades, large medipack,
and harpoons. You can see a closed door in one
corner. Swim to the middle structure and stand on a slope near a closed gate.
Start near the inside corner and run and jump onto a block to pick up the harpoon gun. Look down and see a gem at the bottom of
a hole. Save the game before you dive into the hole. You can get stuck if you
swim through a wall. Dive in and pick up pink gem #1
(P1). Swim out and stand near the gate to shoot two
crocodiles. There are also slopes on the other side of the structure
where you can stand. Swim up the square pipe again to the pool with the steep
sides.
Walk onto the only slope where you can stand. Stand
jump to grab a climbable wall. Shimmy to the left and drop onto an alcove. Turn
around and hop into a tunnel. Go up the steps onto a ledge with pillars. Turn
left and pick up a gate key. Run to the end and
pick up a small medipack. Return back to the
alcove entrance. Grab the ceiling and monkey swing over the water to the room
on the far side. You see a key lock and a closed gate. There is a long room to
the left side.
Use the key in the key lock and the gate opens.
Enter the gate and climb down the ladder. There is a closed door and an opening
to the water pool. You can shoot or ignore the monkey. Run and jump to grab the
bridge over the water. Pull up and go left and pick up Uzi
ammo. Run and jump back to the ledge with the green slopes. Pull down
two wall switches. You get a cut scene of a gate. The gate opens with the
second wall switch. Run and jump back to the bridge. Go left for harpoons. Run and jump back to grab the ledge where
you see the spikes. Walk, not run, through the spikes and you get no damage.
Walk to the back wall and get secret #3. Pick
up Desert Eagle clips, Uzi ammo, and a health crystal. Run and jump back to the bridge. Go
right and jump back to the ledge with the monkey. Climb the ladder to the top.
Enter the long room and shoot two rats. Look in the window alcoves for flares and pink gem #2.
Go down some ledges to shoot a tiger. Pick up Uzi ammo and enter the open gate. Get onto the ledge
and place the two gems in the two receptacles. Each placement shows a door at
the base of a ladder. The door opens with the second gem placement. Return to
the room and climb the ledges. Go back to the ladder and climb down. Enter the
open door. Follow the corridor and stand jump over the knife blade. Drop into a
room and shoot two tigers. Drop through the hole
in the floor.
You land on a bridge over water. Notice an
underwater lever on the wall. There is a closed gate in one high corner. Dive
into the water. You can see an underwater tunnel leading to a closed door.
There is a hole in the middle of the floor to a second underwater tunnel. There
is also a strange black object in the water. That is a turtle that you can
ride. First dive into the hole in the middle of the floor. Swim the twisting
underwater tunnel and pick up shotgun shells
near a closed door. There is a long tunnel to the left. That is where you need
to go. Return to the room and get on the turtle.
Use CTRL to mount the turtle.
Use ALT to drive the turtle forward. There is no
reverse.
Use UP and DOWN ARROWS to go up and down.
Use LEFT and RIGHT ARROWS to steer left and right.
Use END to get off the turtle.
Get on the turtle and drive into the hole in the
floor. You need the turtle for speed. Follow the twisting tunnel and go left
when the tunnel branches. I parked the turtle at the start of the long tunnel.
I got off the turtle and swam back for air. This may seem a bad idea. However,
the turtle is so difficult to maneuver in the twisting tunnel that I used half
the air to get to that point. I got air and swam back to get onto the turtle at
the long tunnel entrance. Drive down a long tunnel and get off the turtle. Pull
down an underwater lever and get a cut scene of an underwater door opening. Get
on the turtle and drive back to the room to surface for air. Again I left the
turtle at the long tunnel entrance and swam through the twisting tunnel without
it. You may also need to use a medipack as well if you are unlucky and get
stuck in the twisting turns in the tunnel.
You can use the turtle again but I found it easier
to leave it. It gets stuck in the corners. Swim into the underwater tunnel
again. Swim into the open door and into a long underwater tunnel. Follow the
tunnel and see some slopes on the floor. After the slope from the ceiling you
can surface for air. Shoot two crocodiles with
the harpoon gun that actually works. Get air from the air hole and continue in
the underwater tunnel. When you reach a T-junction, swim to the right and
upwards to surface for air. Swim down and pick up Uzi
ammo. Ignore the underwater lever in a lower alcove for now and swim
around the area. Pick up harpoons near a closed
gate. Now swim down into that alcove and pull down an underwater lever. Evade
the crocodile and swim into the open gate. Swim
upwards and surface for air.
Pull up into the room and pick up MP5 clips and flares
from the floor. Press the pushbutton on the wall. Enter either open gate and
shoot two tigers. Enter the gates again and pick
up a key (K4) in an alcove. Press the
pushbutton on the wall behind it. You get a cut scene of an underwater gate
opening in the water with the piranha fish. Turn around and see the first
moveable block of a block puzzle.
That is moveable block #1. Push it forward twice
and enter the tunnel. To the left is moveable block #2. To the right is
moveable block #3.
Go to the left and go to push moveable block #2
once. Pick up Uzi ammo in the corner.
Go to the right tunnel and push moveable block #4
at the end once. This reveals moveable block #5 to the right side.
Return to the entrance and go to the right and now
push moveable block #3 once. Turn to the right and pick up the gate key from the floor.
Follow the new tunnel to find moveable block #6.
Pick up flares from the corner.
Push moveable block #6 once. Pick up the Desert Eagle from the corner floor.
Push moveable block #6 once again from the side and
into a hidden alcove. This reveals moveable block #5 beside it.
Push moveable block #5 once.
Pull out moveable block #6 and push it against
moveable block #5.
Get into the alcove behind moveable block #6 and
use the gate key in the key lock. You get a cut scene of an underwater door
opening. Exit this tunnel maze and return to the water hole. Use the key in the
key lock on the wall. You get a cut scene of a gate opening in the structure
near where you found the first gem.
Get into the water and swim back. You can get air
near the gray plates. These are slopes when seen from the other direction.
There are also shotgun shells on the floor
under the air hole. Swim back into the water pool with the bridges. The room
should now be flooded. Swim to the bottom and into the underwater tunnel below
the bridge. Swim trough the two open doors and loop around to the right. Pull
down the underwater lever and get a cut scene of a door opening. There is also
a side branch tunnel with a strong water current. Swim back to the room with
the bridges. You have a choice of routes:
Route #1: Get on the turtle and drive into that
underwater side branch tunnel. Drive against the water current in the tunnel.
Yoy drive through the open door and into the room with the structure. Get off
the turtle and swim to the structure. This route is used if the room did not
flood.
Route #2: Pull down the underwater lever on the
wall. This opens a gate in the corner. Pull up onto the ledge and get trough
the crawl space in the corner. You enter a room with slopes and deadly floor
tiles. Run and jump across the floor and pull up onto a safe column. Jump to
grab the black wall and climb down to the bottom. Pick up shotgun shells and a small
medipack. Climb the wall until you can see the column behind you. Back
flip onto the column. Turn to the right and run and jump to grab a crawl space.
Pull up and crawl to the end. You are back at the room with the water and the
structure with the now open gate. Drop into the water and notice the open door
beside you. Do not enter it or the water current carries you back to the room
with the bridges. Swim to the structure.
Get into the open gate and pull up into a crawl
space. Drop on the other side and go to a ledge over the water. Pull up to a
higher ledge. Turn around and run and jump to a ledge to the left. Jump onto
another ledge in the middle of the structure above the open gate. Pull up into
a higher opening. Turn around and stand jump to grab a slope. Pull up and back
flip onto the top of the structure. On one column is a pushbutton. Press the
pushbutton to open the gate in the wall.
Enter the gate and the gate closes behind you.
Follow the tunnel and stand jump over a knife blade. Continue and go up many
steps to the top. Turn around and jump to grab a ledge. Pull up into an outside
area. Hop back off the ledge and jump up and down to shoot three dogs in safety. Enter the outside area. It is on
the castle battlements. There is a section to your left behind you for later.
First go forward and see a corridor with closed
gate and two receptacles. Go there and push a moveable block into the wall
twice. Enter the room and shoot two rats. Pick
up shotgun shells behind the block. Push the
moveable block again and pick up pink gem #1 (P1)
from beneath it. Exit this corridor and go towards the Shiva statues. Follow
the ramp behind them onto a higher section. Look over the battlements and see a
river. If you dive in now, you are dead. Go to the end and pick up Uzi ammo. Look over the edge and see a green crystal.
You can stand on the sloped buttresses in that area. Hop onto that buttress for
secret #4 and get the health
crystal. Get back onto the battlements.
Stand near the middle and face the closed gates.
Safety drop into the river. Fight the water current and swim into a lower crawl
space in the castle wall. Follow the underwater tunnel and pull up into a room.
Shoot two rats and walk, not run, through the
spikes on the floor. Go to the end and climb a ladder. Pull up into a crawl
space and stand up on the other end. Pull up onto the battlements above the
Shiva statues with a ramp. Just follow the path to the other end. Pick up the grenade launcher for secret
#5. Return to where you entered and safety drop to the ramp behind the
Shiva statues. Go down the ramps and go into the area at the far end near where
you entered.
Approach the gates and the three gates open. Enter
any gate and quickly retreat to shoot six tigers.
Enter the gates again and shoot two rats. Pick
up shotgun shells from the top of a box. You
can see a moveable block. Pull it into the room and place it underneath a high
ladder. Hop onto the box and grab the ladder. Climb up onto the higher ledge.
Follow the floor around to the left and find a water pool. Ignore or shoot the
monkey. Pick up pink gem #2 from the water
pool. Go to the opposite corner to the ledge and pick up Uzi ammo.
Safety drop to the ground. Go to the closed gates
and place the two gems and the gates open. Enter the gates and the level stops.
You get the statistics screen. Hit ENTER and watch the ending credits and the
final statistics screen.
