Tomb Raider and RMS Titanic

Walkthrough
by dmdibl (David Dibble)
This
TR4 level is an excellent recapturing of Lara's TR2 ship adventure, but this
time on the massive Titanic, so that this huge single level plays more like it
was three levels. As you will see enemies, texturing, and play are very much in
the style of TR2. As in TR2 there are three dragon secrets.
Quest
for Air
Angle
Lara slightly left at start, quickly swim NW into the small part of the cavern,
and into the opening left. Inside make a U-turn left, find the underwater lever
above and pull it. Reverse, swim into door, and halfway down this room on the
left is a rusty pillar and just beyond it shotgun shells to pick up. Continue to the end of
this room, find opening on right. In next room swim almost to end, to an
opening low on left, inside it, then a turn to right and swim up for air.
Now
Lara swims back out and in the middle of the E wall ahead is a horizontal
crack. Swim into this and pull the underwater lever at the end. Swim back,
slightly left, and swim straight up. Pull out on the dry deck to take a look
around. To N is a high door, remember it. To W are stairs. To S is a passageway
with a fenced walkway and in the middle, in the depression to the left of the
walkway (E side) is a box of flares.
Hard-to-spot
Underwater Lever
Go
W up stairs and dive into the water. Swim into room, angle left, and Lara
reaches an opening right. Stop. Ahead is an angled archway and another small
alcove beyond it. But here, on the pillar to Lara's right is an underwater
lever. It can be hard to see, just below the water surface overhead. Pull it,
and see a screenshot of two thugs.
Swim
back out, exit water. Go back down the stairs and to right (S) to meet the
thugs. At the intersection Lara will probably see them. Hop back on the fenced
walkway firing pistols to drop the thugs. Be sure to search the bodies for a small medipack
and the shotgun.
Push
Block Puzzle
Now
go back to the stairs and up them again. This time jump over the water and
continue, right, right, into a bluish crate area. Go ahead, slip and fall into
the open trapdoor in the floor. Pick up the large medipack and the shotgun shells.
Climb out into the hallway ahead. After a couple squares, once more fall into
the hole. Pull the wall lever in the dark interior. (Lara can fire pistols to
see, as flares are at a premium.) The wall lever opens a ceiling trapdoor that
is close to the doorway that the two thugs came out of.
Get
back out and proceed down hall, crawl, swim, and pull the wall lever at the end
of the small room. (Notice that this walkthrough mostly doesn't mention the
cute little rats.) The lever closes the trapdoor in the floor of that bluish
crate room. Return there. Stop at the closed trapdoor. In the bluish crate room
go right in the NW corner to find a push block. Move it to the now closed
trapdoor, and push it one square into the hallway. There is a hole in the
hallway that Lara needs to fill.
Return
to where Lara did battle with the thugs, that is over the fenced walkway to the
first intersection. There is nothing straight ahead. Go right (W) to another
intersection. Pause, and notice that straight ahead is a ladder. At the top is
a now open trapdoor (because of that wall lever in the dark pit). For now go
right (N) into the open doorway. It is dark inside, but all Lara does is go a
short distance in, then left to throw a wall lever. See a screenshot of a high
door opening, back where Lara first pulled out onto the deck.
So
retrace steps back to that high door (N). Climb inside and push the block
forward once, as far as it will go. It now plugs that hole in the hallway floor
back in the bluish crate room. So back up the stairs and around to the bluish
crate room, this time push the block here forward to the end of the hallway.
Rusty
Key
Climb
up on the block and pull up onto the walkway above. Straight ahead is another
block. Push it away to get the Uzi clips underneath it. Then jump over the
block. Between the two elevated walkways there is a platform (W end). Jump over
the railing onto this. Turn around E and climb the ladder on the pillar. Near
the top, about a square below the dark area, back flip into the opening to get
the Rusty
Key.
Get
back down. Side flip over the railing onto the N walkway (not the one with the
push block). Pick up shotgun ammo. Jump back to first walkway and get
down to the floor. Now return to the start area near the high door, then S
along fenced walkways, and at the intersection go right to that wall ladder
that Lara saw to the West. Climb ladder and run out into passageway.
Lara
can draw pistols and shoot the two baddies left. Flip around and start shooting
the two baddies that were on the right. This can be done without health loss.
The baton-wielding guy (white shirt) has Uzi clips. Once that is done Lara may notice that
in the S part of this passageway there is a long ladder (trapdoor closed at
top). That is for later. Also Lara may trigger a view of a key that is out in
the water. That is for much, much later. Lara can go S and left down the stairs
to shoot another thug, clearing this area. While here make of note of the water
pit. If Lara falls in she can't pull back out here, but must exit elsewhere in
a room. On the other side of the water pit is a door and a keyhole. Lara will
be back soon.
Return
past where Lara first entered this passageway, and go N, immediately around the
corner right. A wall switch opens the door. The Rusty Key opens the next door
onto a string of three fire emitters. So use the nearby switch to open the next
door and go inside to a long corridor to the right. Again it is possible to do
battle here with just pistols; proceed cautiously, hear music, and hop
backwards when the enemy appears. Flame thrower guys don't seem to leave any
ammo.
To
Engine Room Key
Go
down long corridor, then right and climb up right, drop down, and use wall
lever. Two of the fire emitters go out. Get back out, and stop inside the long
corridor. At this end, the second square has a push block on the right (E
side). Push it away. Loop around to where the push block came out. Push the
block N twice. Hop up on it and push the button to see the last fire emitter go
out. Get back to the long corridor but go S to jump into the water. When Lara
first swims down there are Uzi clips and a small medipack. To be on the safe side
Lara may want to refresh her air at this point, before swimming around S into
the small opening in far wall.
Inside
that opening, find underwater lever on left, to open door. Swim around and up.
Quickly find another underwater lever to open the trapdoor above. Swim up and
use the floor lever, get a camera shot of the door opening at the end of the
three extinguished fire emitters.
So
swim back out and return to the door with the–oops, two thugs. Shoot them, the
guy with the shotgun leaves Uzi clips. Get past the extinguished fire
emitters, to a small room with not much in it. Pull back the block to get the Engine Room Key
underneath.
First
Secret
Return
to the main passageway with the portholes. Go all the way S, left down stairs.
Lara needs to jump across the water pit on the right, to grab a pillar with a
slanted surface. Position her somewhat left of the far slanted pillar and make
the running jump/grab. Use the Engine Room Key. Pause at the top of the slope.
Lara
can jump to the side, then jump past the pillars to land on a ledge, and pick
up Secret #1,
the Silver Dragon.
Now slide down the slope.
Engine
Room
Reach
the Engine Room. Impressive, isn't it? There is lots to do here, but Lara will
be returning several times to accomplish everything in stages. Wander around,
and soon thugs are running toward Lara. Also there are baddies up on the
catwalks shooting at her, so maybe the first order of business is self-defense.
The shotgun is quickest here.
On
the ground floor there are two black shirts (one leaves Uzi clips), a white shirt, and a
shotgun guy. Those guys shooting from the catwalks are sure annoying. It is
possible to climb up on machinery in some spots, where Lara can target the
baddies without taking damage herself. But to get this over with quickly, Lara
may just want to climb the broken pillar in the middle of the room. From pillar
top, stand jump to the walkway and pull up. There are several guys up here and
they leave a small
medipack and a large medipack.
There
is an intersection in the middle of the engine room walkways, where Lara looks
N into a wide corridor. If Lara runs down that corridor she spots a couple of
overhead trapdoors. They are for later, but are important. Out in the engine
room, on this upper level, note that there are two adjacent rooms E which
require keys. To the north there is also a door with a keyhole, to the left of
that big corridor.
So,
to business. Go to the NE and jump up on the structure to find a small medipack.
From here if Lara looks straight south she can spot the flares (not on top of the first
structure nearby, but on the second in the distance). So jump down, go S, and
climb up to get a packet of twelve flares. From here, look W to spot the key on top
the next structure. Go get it. This is the Iron Key and it opens the door in the engine
room N.
Jump
down west, and go north along the wall. From the walkway platform against the
pillar, make a running jump north. Go up the stairs and use the Iron Key. Inside, pull the wall lever, get a shot
of a trapdoor opening in water.
This
can be obscure, but if Lara had jumped into the water pit, the one right before
using the key to the Engine Room, she would have found that trapdoor. The
trapdoor was shut, so for this walkthrough Lara didn't bother. (Lara is never
lazy, but she likes to do things with an economy of effort.) Nevertheless,
remember that the trapdoor opened in the water pit. Lara has now done
everything currently possible in the engine room.
Blue
Cavern Route
Get
back to the ground. Look around for four receptacles for the circuit breakers.
Find a depression in the floor that looks like two closed trapdoors with water
underneath, which is exactly what it is. Around this, at the four corners, are
places to put circuit breakers. Again, for later.
Go
out into the blue cave and look around. There is a great view of the side of
the ship. After sightseeing, head all the way S in the blue cave, into the
small side chamber. Look up to find a hole in its ceiling. Pull up into it,
Lara facing W. Before the end of this passage, face N and pull up. Continue to
big cavern, jump down twice, then on angle to ledge against wall. Now a running
jump E, with a slight curve right. Forward E, and a running jump NE. Climb up N
and do a stand jump/grab to the ship.
Two
Fuses
Go
W, but don't go inside the ship (middle entrance, on right). Instead continue
to other side of ship. Lara can't climb the corner pillars, but she can pull up
on an interior pillar and jump across to the tall pillar at the edge of the
ship. Jump around outside corner of the ship–Lara can stand on the pillar
there. Pull up, stand jump to grab the hole in the roof of the cavern. Go up to
find the Fuse.
Get
back down and onto the ship. Now go into the middle entrance. At the pit move
the push block forward a couple of squares and jump up to continue. Turn left.
After shooting two thugs pick up the shotgun ammo. At the intersection go straight to
shoot the gunman for his Uzi clips. Back at the intersection, go left and
around to a small cabin. Pick up the large medipack and press the button to open a
gate.
From
here go back and straight through the intersection, go up the stairs and
through the now open gate. Lara is now in area with a tremendous amount to do.
Pull out the shotgun. Go left. Nothing in the first room. In the next room
shoot the thug for his second Fuse. (Try
to back off, so that Lara doesn't waste shotgun shells on the small rats, which
just distract aim from the thug.)
First
Circuit Breaker
Return
to the open gate where Lara entered this area. Go left (N), right, left into a
small cabin with a pillar in the center. Behind the pillar is a wall button,
use it. This opens a gate to stairs that will take Lara back to the previous
area, to the water pit and the door to the engine room. Of course Lara isn't
quite ready to return.
Go
out of the cabin and left (E), then right (S) in the large corridor. Come to a
hole in the floor. Lara could drop in now, but you may want to just continue
on. Go to the end of the corridor. Admire the view. This is where Lara climbed
up the ship from the blue cave. Oh, yeah, there is Circuit Breaker #1 on Lara's right,
practically at her feet.
Opening
Way
Go
back and drop into that hole. Shoot any stray small rats, so they won't
distract aim. Lara can run around the corner into a bunch of thugs. After the
three are dead, get large medipack, small medipack, and shotgun ammo.
Also pick up the shotgun ammo in the corner. On the south side, find the small
room with a button. This opens a gate which is very close to the previously
opened gate, just a little farther down the large corridor overhead. To exit,
move the push block forward under the hole. Be sure to get the small medipack
that was underneath it. Climb out.
Run
N down the corridor. Bypass the first open gate right, as this takes Lara down
to the water pit and Engine Room door. Continue to second open gate on right,
which Lara just opened, and enter here. (Lara could now run straight ahead and
down some stairs, only to find a closed trapdoor.) Go inside the metallic
looking area left (N), and climb up. Go down the cabin corridor. There is
nothing left. [The game crashed at the end of that left corridor, so be sure to
save regularly.] Go straight for shotgun ammo, then come back and take
the E corridor.
Two
Engine Room Keys
Go
right, S, to press a button. This opens a trapdoor Lara will quickly find. Come
back straight to confront two pits. Lara stand jumps into the left passage. Go
along here just to find a glass door and a keyhole. This is for later, but
REMEMBER THIS AREA. At the pit make a jump forward, a standing jump and grab
will do. Run jump over the next pit. At the open trapdoor pull up to the right.
Crawl and continue until Lara falls through a hole in the floor. Pick up the Corrode Key.
That's it. This is what Lara came here for.
Exit
this section, jump the two pits, go right, left, and probably see a
black-shirted thug coming toward Lara. Get his Uzi clips. Down the corridor to the
metallic area, climb down, out the open gate–oops, more thugs. Lara was
supposed to have her shotgun out. Shoot the three thugs and get shotgun ammo
and small
medipack. In the large corridor, go south and left into the next
open gate. Go down the stairs and left and notice that everything finally looks
familiar. This leads to the passageway with the portholes. But for now Lara
finally gets to jump into the water pit in front of the Engine Room door.
Dive
in and swim down and down. At bottom, swim up and over a hump, and immediately
past it, there is a low slot on the left to swim into. Swim to the end. (There
was a closed trapdoor here, but Lara opened it from the Engine Room by using
the Iron Key and a wall lever.) Swim straight down. It may be hard to see but
there is a key in the center at the bottom of this shaft. Get "Old Key,"
swim up shaft and out, and make a right to get air.
(This
can be done in one go if you know the terrain, but probably better to go back
for air.) Now make the swim again, but go past the slot on left, and soon swim
upward, find an underwater lever on the high left wall. Pull it to open the
outer door in the room ahead. This is the only exit as Lara can't go back.
Continue onward.
Swim
upward and pull out into the room. Note that there is a push block here. It can
be moved to the side underneath the overhead trapdoor, but the trapdoor is
currently closed. Now or later to move the block. Exit the open door.
Also
now or later to deal with the thugs. No sense procrastinating. Lara can go
north and around the corner, as when she used the Rusty Key, and run into three
thugs. After some work with the shotgun get a large medipack.
Return
to Engine Room
Go
S down the porthole corridor, and make a left to return to the water pit. Lara
has two keys so it is time to get back to the Engine Room. [Note: There is an
alternate route to Engine Room here. Lara could run back up the stairs
to the blue corridor. Go left, past the hole in the floor, and at the overlook
jump down to the deck of the ship. Go to the SW corner, at a spot aligned with
the pillars at the edge of the ship. With Lara facing N, hang over the walkway
below, drop and roll. Lara is now where she wants to be, on the catwalks of the
Engine Room.] Do the running jump and grab to the slanted pillar over the
water pit. Go through doorway, slide down slope, and continue to Engine Room.
Lara needs to get back on the upper catwalks. So run to the broken pillar in
the middle of the room. Lara starts taking damage as she climbs, as thugs were
waiting to shoot at her. Use a medipack if necessary, but get to the upper
level and take out the next batch of thugs. These guys are determined. I'm not
sure if there were four or five. When the gunpowder cloud dissipates, find two
boxes of shotgun
ammo.
Lara
has the two keys for the adjacent rooms on the E wall of the catwalks. Start
with the room on the left. The Corrode Key opens it. Take out two more bad
guys, get shotgun
ammo. Use the wall lever, and see a screenshot of the room where
Lara just was. Unfortunately, you see the push block and a pillar, but don't
really see that the ceiling trapdoor has fallen open. (If you don't recognize
this room, and want a second look, Lara can pull the wall lever back up, thus
closing the trapdoor and causing endless grief. Leave the wall lever down when
Lara is finished here.) Listen to the nice music.
Now
do the room to the right on the catwalks, and this opens with the "Old Key."
No excitement here, just go around to the back and find the button to open two
ceiling trapdoors. Hopefully, you remember those. Go straight out from here to
the middle of the room and jump over to the right. Go N into the wide corridor.
Pull up where the trapdoors just opened.
Fire
Pillar Run
There
are three fire pillars ahead. Approach the pit and shoot the gunman waiting to
ambush Lara at the bottom of it. If Lara fell in, get back up. Go to the end of
the west-side walkway, and climb into the opening there. At the end of this,
pick up the Uzis.
Ah, ha! Now those Uzi clips are useful. Come back out, get down into the pit,
and go into the SE passage. Climb up and find the timed wall lever on the left.
Save the game for the timed run.
Pull
the lever while holding the Look Key down to cancel the screenshot of the door
at the end of the fire pillars opening. Roll, run, and jump down the dark
passage. Try to sprint out and around to the corner in the far left (SW). Save
the game while pulling up. There are two ways to proceed. 1) The normal way is
to run around and jump to hang from the side of the first pillar, then shimmy
to the corner near the next pillar, and pull up. Make a stand jump/grab etc. 2)
Lara's way. Lara can run down the west-side walkway near to its end, then veer
right and jump over the railing to land on the corner of the pillar near the
next pillar. I preferred this, as it avoids having Lara hang from the first
pillar, or waste time doing a shimmy and pull up on the first pillar. It may
take a few attempts to get the accurate placement on the corner of the first
pillar, but once Lara succeeds the timed run is practically assured. Lara lands
and turns left at once to stand jump/grab to the next pillar. Shimmy around to
the corner near the third pillar. Pull up, then stand jump/grab to the third
pillar. Pull up, turn, and jump through the doorway, holding Ctrl.
Make
it through the timed doorway. Go forward, pull up a couple of times, and see
the button on the right wall. This turns off the fires on top the pillars. This
may seem belated, but Lara may want to use this route again. (When Lara
returned here later, not only were the fires out, but the door was open, so
there was no need to repeat the timed run to use this shortcut.) Climb up left,
jump up twice. At the top try out the new Uzis on the gunman. Pick up Uzi clips
he drops. Pull the wall lever in the NE corner. A camera shot shows a door
opening at the end of the porthole passageway, and a circuit breaker revealed.
Second
Circuit Breaker
A
trapdoor opens a square away from the NE wall lever, and Lara sees a long
ladder down. This is familiar, it goes down to the porthole passageway. Drop
down fast, as there is a gunman waiting at the bottom of the ladder. Again use
Uzis, and pick up the small medipack he drops.
Note
how convenient Lara's position is. In the Engine Room, Lara opened two
different trapdoors. By doing the timed run first, Lara has ended up in the
porthole passageway, right beside the open door that leads to the next open
ceiling trapdoor. There is a lot of such efficient choreography throughout this
level although, of course, if players miss the hints they will fail to
appreciate it.
But
remember the circuit breaker. Lara goes N to the end of the passageway where
the door opened. Crawl in to get Circuit Breaker #2. Crawl out. (If Lara hadn't
already shot the three thugs concealed around the corner, they would have been
waiting for her when she was tired out from the timed run.) Go back S almost to
that long ladder. Before reaching it go up the steps into the open doorway
left.
Open
Gateway Upward
If
Lara hasn't already moved the push block to the N, do so now, putting it under
the open trapdoor. Climb up facing W, and push the button W. See a couple of
thugs coming out an open gate. Lara can turn east and see through the crack
close to the point where the thugs are coming out. You may have already noticed
this crack when Lara was on the other side of it. If Lara waits one goon may
even try to get through that crack, and Lara can shoot him.
Drop
back down through trapdoor to ground. Go out the doorway and left, left, to go
past the water pit to the end of this area, then right up the stairs. At the
open gate go right (N), all the way to the end of this wide corridor. Lara
should meet more goons that she can shoot while running towards them. They
yield 2x shotgun
ammo. At the north end, go up the stairs.
Don't
go into the water. Make a running jump to the platform N. Now a running
jump/grab to S, and repeat. Lara can just hang and shimmy to right, and pull
up. Straight ahead pick up 2x Uzi clips and a small medipack. Crawl in N and
climb up. Shoot things. Jump in the doorway S and press a button. Hear a
sinister laugh.
Lara
deals with gunman. The door N opened when Lara pressed the button, so jump up
there. Lara needs to place one fuse to right, but she also needs to place a
second fuse through the opened door.
When both fuses are placed the second door opens. Use the floor lever. In
response there is a rumble and crash as the ceiling outside caves in. Go to the
rubble, and jump to the highest point. Face E and pull up. Pull the nearby
block out of its corner and find shotgun ammo where it rested.
Go
W and climb up, go down the corridor straight ahead to kill a couple of goons.
See the gold keyhole here. Go to the end of the W right-side corridor, and pick
up the Golden
Key and bring it back. Open the glass door, and crawl through the
corridor to push a button. Another trapdoor falls open, at the top of the area
where the ceiling collapsed. Return there–boy, that furniture gets in the way–and
shoot a gunman. He drops shotgun ammo. I never even realized the first
time I played this, but there is also a flamethrower guy down on the ground
floor. Lara ignored him the first time, so she ignored him this time, too.
Titanic:
Third Circuit Breaker
Lara
can jump from the push block to the central structure, then pull up through the
open trapdoor. Lara trots through passage and comes out on a magnificent view
of the side of the ship. This looks even grander than it did from down below.
Pause a while to take it all in. Go forward, turn around, and drop to hang from
the edge, hopefully over the crack below. Drop to grab that crack. Pull up and
run along the ledge. Where it narrows, drop to hang again, and shimmy left
until Lara can pull up. Climb the ladder, and back flip at the top. Run through
the passage, and hang drop to the deck of the Titanic.
Take
a moment to appreciate it. There is Circuit Breaker #3 in the NE corner, so get it. A
camera shot shows a key in water. You may have noticed coming here that there
is water straight down...a long way down. So position Lara at the edge of the
Titanic and take a running jump out to land in the water. DON'T jump from the
square aligned with an overturned chaise longue. Instead jump from a square that
is on either side of it. Jump and hold down the Ctrl key to get extra distance
if you really want Lara to be safe.
Second
Secret, and use a Key
Swim
to the southernmost part of the pool to pick up the Ornate Key. Now Lara is ready to
leave, so turn and–wait a moment. Maybe it would be a
good idea to explore this area N. Get to the north end and start climbing. Lara
enters a great overhanging cavern here. In the NE corner there is Secret #2,
the Nephrite
(Jade) Dragon.
Return
to the pool and continue, climb over the one-way rock barrier. Shoot a couple
of thugs to get a small medipack and Uzi clips. Now what to do with the
Ornate Key? Do you remember the glass door and the keyhole, where I told you to
remember this place? That is up in the cabin area where there were two pits in
a corridor, near where Lara found the Corrode Key. Lara needs to get back there
from the Engine Room area.
There
are two ways back. Your choice. 1) Take the blue cavern route up (I suspect
this is shorter), get into the middle of the ship at the highest level, go
through where Lara shot two thugs, go left at the intersection, up the stairs,
and into the ship. Lara will need to go right to come out into the wide
corridor, then left (N) to the first open gate on the right. Inside Lara will
find the metallic area. 2) Lara can climb up to the middle level of the engine
room. She can go north to the extinguished fire pillars. The fires are now out,
so she can easily jump over the pillars and into the now open doorway–no timed
run. Climb up and drop down the long ladder to the porthole passageway. From
here go S, left, past the water pit to the end, then go right up the stairs.
This time Lara comes out in the wide corridor and goes right, and makes a first
right into the open gate to find the metallic area.
At
metallic area kill the two gunmen waiting for Lara. Climb up N as Lara did
before, and take the N corridor. Make a right and left and stop before the
first pit. Make a stand jump into the side passage left. Here is the glass door
and the keyhole; use the Ornate Key to gain access. Go up the stairs and right.
Lara goes down what seems a dead-end passage, but just before the end she can
pull up to the right. She needs to stand on the highest point of the sloped
floor.
Luxury
Quarters
Now
this begins to look like something. Shoot some rats. Take either of the
corridors S. Lara comes out into an area that is over a big pool, which isn't
obvious unless she takes a ramp in the corner downward. For now take a ramp
upward to the highest level. Find a greenish push block in the back right
corner. Get the Ornate
Key from underneath it. In the other back corner there is a small medipack.
Return
down one level. In the SE corner are three push blocks. Pull, then push the
first block N, then pull it to the West. Now take the block that is blocking
the S corridor, and pull it back twice. Pull back the easternmost block once,
temporarily. Behind this block is a switch, so use it. Then push this same
block back where it originated. Lara turns and goes S into this corridor. Look
around for the gunman to shoot. Go to the SW corner, and go S down the corridor
to drop down into the room below.
Sneaky
Push Blocks
Now
here is a pretty puzzle. This is the sort of room that can be a puzzle if
players aren't using a walkthrough. (Hint for challenge.)
There
are three push blocks in this room that are obvious. After a lot of puzzlement,
Lara notices that there is a high switch in the S. Here is how to do it. Pull
out the SE block. Push it S, and pull it W so that it is underneath that high
switch. Now pull out the push block that is a different texture than the other
two. Move it so that it is between the first block and the central structure,
the two blocks aligned on the central axis.
Get
on the block that is underneath the high switch. Pull the 'hidden' block out of
the wall once. Jump up on top this block and use the switch, get a camera shot
of a door opening.
(Thanks
to the author for pointing out that there is a large medipack
behind the block that Lara just pulled from the wall. To get it, Lara needs to
use all three push blocks in this room and align them along the south wall.
Then push the upper block to the side, to access the alcove behind it–although
at this point of the game Lara may not be short of medipacks, and may be in a
hurry to move on.)
Now
to get out of this room, repeat the procedure at the other end of the room.
Drop down. Go to the NE block and pull it West so that it is underneath the
exit trapdoor (yes, Lara can pull W despite the angled block behind her). Get
the push block that is different from the other two, and once again put it
between a block (the exit block) and the central structure, aligned on the
central axis. Get on the block beneath the exit trapdoor. Pull the 'hidden'
block out of the wall once. Jump up on top this block, and pull up to exit.
Run
down the corridor firing Uzis, get the shotgun ammo from the fallen gunman. Go E and
into the S corridor there, to find the door opened by the high switch. There is
a button on the W wall. Press it, and wait for the next thug to arrive, shoot
him with Uzis, and collect the shotgun ammo. Go out right and keep going N. Lara
doesn't need to jump over the three green push blocks, instead she makes a
quick turn left there to go down the ramp. Jump down to the ledge below. There
are three corridors on this lower level, around the big pool.
Third
Secret, Last Circuit Breaker
Go
to the end of the SW corridor to find Uzi clips. Make a circuit around the ledges to
reach the SE corridor. There doesn't seem to be anything here, but go to the end.
Pull up into the crawlspace and drop down on the other side. Get Secret #3,
the Gold Dragon.
This is the last secret of the level, the three dragons just as in TR2.
Get
out, and now go to the NW corridor. Find the open door on the left. Inside is
another glass door, and a keyhole for the second Ornate Key. Use it, and
retrieve Circuit
Breaker #4, the final one. Lara's task is complete. Now to exit.
While you are thinking about this, Lara has probably already jumped into the
deep pool. Swim all the way down and W. Swim up toward the trapdoor, pull the
underwater lever to open it, and get out of the water. Trot upstairs to find
that Lara is back at the metallic area.
End
to Engine Room and Ocean
Go
outside into the wide corridor. This is weird, no goons about. [Note: At this point Lara can take the
previously mentioned alternate route back to the Engine Room: in the corridor
go all the way S to the overlook, jump down, go to SW corner of the deck, hang,
drop, and roll to the catwalk below. Then hang and drop from the side to slide
down to the ground.] Go S and turn left into the first open gate. Go down
the stairs and make a left to get back to familiar territory. Once more jump
the water pit to the slanted pillar, go through Engine Room door, and slide
down slope.
In
the northern ground-floor portion of the engine room, find the receptacles for
the four circuit breakers. Once they are placed the two floor trapdoors,
situated in the middle of the receptacles, fall open. Lara needs to dive into
the water and make a long swim. Dive down and take the obvious route. No
sightseeing here, just swim fast forward. Swim straight up. Swim north into the
center of the room. Remember that key the camera shot showed in the middle of
this room? Pick up the Rust Key now.
Keep
swimming straight ahead, into a hole in the middle of the floor ahead. Swim
down, through opening, and quickly up again to get air just as Lara has
exhausted her supply. Use the Rust Key (not "Rusty" Key as before).
Once more for a fast swim. Swim straight down, right on the horizontal, then
straight up. Angle to the left, straight south. Swim across the ocean bed with
shark in pursuit, until Lara crosses a section of dark sea floor. Try to spot
an anchor shaft lying on the seabed. The "Heart of the Ocean" jewel is
lying to the right of it, maybe five meters to the side of the anchor. When
Lara picks up the artifact the level ends with a statistics screen, just as in
TR2.
Quite
an adventure. I had a lot of fun playing this exceptional and worthy level, and
hope it receives the attention that it deserves.
