THE HIDDEN PYRAMID

Level by Pablo David

Walkthrough by Nanaki (Wolf 7)

Note: This level has some bugs that might happen, as far as I have observed, regardless of how you play the level. I have encountered two bugs that I am gonna note in red here.

These bugs are game breaking and you will need to start the game from the beginning or reload a save, although I found the first solution the most effective.

Also this level is very confusing so I will try to do my best to explain this to you.

SM= Small Medipack
BM= Big Medipack

Calm before the insanity

You start the game inexplicably falling from nowhere to a valley, reminiscent to the last part of the old tutorial level of TRLE, look around, there is nothing to do here around, you can explore if you want. Take a breath of fresh air, we are about to enter hell.

Go N and jump over those out-of-place tiles, raise up and go into that turquoise tunnel till the end of it, where you will find a little hole, nothing is in there and the tile down there is no harm. Just jump forward and you will find yourself in ...

Gigantic room hell

This huge room serves a very tiny purpose at least it is the only room with an inhabitant, a mummy, go NW and use that floor lever to turn off the first column of fire tiles SW, go there, grab the SM and pull the statue to the pharaoh face tile to trigger a bad, and quite useless, flyby showing that the first column, facing the S side of it, has now the a ladder available for you to continue this “fantastical adventure”.

Go on the ladder and when you are ready backflip and grab the pillar, raise up and obtain a BM, go to the edge and take a standing jump to the pillar down there, lastly take jump on the last pillar and you will get to the next AMAZING room.

The Dark slide

Slide in the room to the probably best camera in the entire game, light a flare and discover some 3xFlare on the floor, in the NE part you can also obtain a BM in case you really had an hard time surviving that mummy in the other room. Now go N where the yet another pushable statue lays, ignore the door to your left, and pull it out twice (or pull it in twice, however you feel) and you will get to the first of 2 same more or less enigmas. As you will be doing some amazing back tracking I will call this room Enigma 1, so when I am talking about Enigma 1 you know what I am referring to, okay?

Let us move on, inside of this room there are four other pushable statues, and you need to push them in once, all of them to open the set of four door N, you though this was boring? Wait until the end.

Run to the very end of the newly open area, ignore the puzzle hole, we will come back later to that, now that you are to the very end jump and grab to the ceiling, you heard well :3 this game has unmarked monkeybars.

Climb till the end of the room where the crawlspace is, let yourself go and grab back in the crawlspace, crawl in and you will get to

The boredom raises

Now you will find yourself in Enigma 2, ignore the big door in front of you on the W, and instead focus you on the 3 pushable statues, the enigma now got more “exciting”.

Let us start from the first one on the E, push it in once to an UNMARKED TILE, turn 90 degrees to the left and push that wonderful second statue once to an UNMARKED TILE. Exit on the left and then focus on the third pushable on the last hole in the E side, push it once to an UNMARKED TILE.

Now exit from the hole and face N to the newly opened area, do you suddenly get stopped as you try to enter?

Bug n°1: For no absolute reason the you will be blocked and be unable to enter inside of the newly open tunnel, does this happen to you? Well, either you try to reload another savegame and try this again, either you restart the game.

The tedious small backtrack

You will find yourself in a new room, and say hi to the sudden rolling-ball falling for no absolute reason, that is why I will call this room Rolling-Ball.

There is a passage to your left, remember it for later, and two closed door to the same side, now face right (E) and you will find a totally normal wall, well it is not normal, it is CLIMBABLE! Climb it to the top and then walk E to the end of the room, notice a cartouche puzzle hole, remember this. Go S and you will enter to another room, to your immediate right (W) there is an useless part of room I do not recommend you checking, it is a loss of time, go instead the other way (E) and notice one of the few marked ladders, use them and then backflip on the structure above, go to the highest tile and then jump and grab to the monkeybars, proceed S till the end of the room and then let go, you will find yourself in a Big Medipack heaven, pick the 3xBM as one of them triggers a door in Rolling-Ball.

Come back there to find the door to the right open with a single cartouche in there named Secret, odd name, Lara must be doing something esoteric apparently.

Remember the puzzle hole for cartouche on the other side of the room? You need to put that there!

More cartouches and more backtracking

After having opened the door you will find yourself in a small room with another pushable statue on the right (SW), push it or pull it, to get to another room.

On the NE part of the room you can feast your eyes on an enemy that for some reason decided he was not going to participate this madness, on the S, in that dark are, you will find yet another Secret cartouche. Run SE to find the rightful receptacle, put that in and you will have opened the door that before was closed in Rolling-Ball.

Backtrack there, and get to the first of the worst rooms in the game.

You see that ladder? No you cannot because it is not marked AT ALL. Go SE and grab the wall on your left and raise up to the upper part of the room and get the Star puzzle, not rightfully named at all Load.

Make your way down safely and exit the ginormous room and turn right where the corridor I told you to not look into yet is, now look into it and you will find a star receptacle, use the LOAD star in it and then open a new door inside of Enigma 2, on the SW corner. Enter and unveil the secrets of it ... another LOAD Star, and this instead goes into Enigma 1, so you know what this means?

Backtracking ...

Turn 180 degrees if you are facing the wall and go inside the small corridor on the E, where it ends with a slope and a crawlspace, how do you go back you may ask? On the last tile before the slope, on the left, there is an invisible ladder, raise up and turn towards the crawlspace. When you get there let go and immediately grab and then raise in, I still wonder what blocked Core from making a ladder to crawlspace animation (and fans had to). You will find yourself inside of the Enigma 1 room, where the star receptacle lays.

You have now opened a door in the Dark Slide, exit from Enigma 1 and turn immediately right (W). Go all the way down the hallway and you will be treated with.

The oddest room of this game in my opinion

As the title states, we are now in an outside are, notice on the NE corner a closed door and notice also the other closed door NW.

W lays a slide and next to it another cartouche, grab in and then face the wall next to the slide, it is climbable :3 and you need that to continue.

Climb up and go above the slide to trigger a Secret #1? A loud sound scares the crap out of you and then you trigger a Secret #1? Alright I will take it for normal, turn to the NE door and discover it open, a camera also oddly comes to help you. You know all the others door that were distant 100 meters were in plain sight compared to this, suuuure.

Get inside that little area and put the cartouche inside of the receptacle, you will have opened the NW door, but please take a moment to look at the majesty of that not working ninja on the SE side of the room. Pure art ... he stays so still and he look at the horizon with determination that he will fight to his death against Lara. Apparently today though it is his day off.

Okay, I am getting seriously sick of this gigantic rooms

Enter the NW door and you will find yourself to yet another gigantic room, Notice on the W side there are three “different” walls, there is the first on the left with a door, the one on the right with a marked ladder and one in the middle, it appears there is something above it, but how will you get it? :3

Go in the space between the left and the center different walls and face S, that wall is climbable and it is unmarked. Okay so excuse me if I go out of topic but is this the developer idea of making the game harder? This is not funny at all!

Go up the ladder and get to the top, backflip, rotate and then grab, raise up and oooh! Hello there Cartouche!
Go down safely, and now concentrate yourself to that ladder on the NW corner, go up that and when you are ready backflip and grab the pillar, raise up to the higher pillar and using, you guessed it, that beautiful unmarked ladder.

After you are up, take a running jump towards the next pillar, and then take a standing jump to the receptacle tile, use the cartouche and now go down to safely, an opened door on the SW corner awaits ...

Yet another star, cool. So now Go N and enter the opening without any door blocking the entrance, light a flare if you need and spot the star receptacle.

Yet another outside area with palm trees and a ninja refusing to work

You enter a new room, immediately spot the useless Ninja doing his business and a cartouche receptacle on NE, while on SW you will find the Cartouche you are looking for, man! This is so hard to find! I think I need a walkthrough for this (parts like this do not, but the bugs and unmarked crap do).

Use the Cartouche and then go to the newly open door SE, run quickly through there, you want to spend the less time you can on this game.

A leafed area

You find yourself in the greenest room of the game, you see that door on E? I was able to achieve the end and to get all the secrets, without going in.

On N there are 3 columns, the one on the right is the only one to actually be climbable, what side? Facing N.

Go up there and jump on the other pillars till the latter one where you will find a key, go down safely and then use the star in the SE receptacle of this room to open a door on the S. Go in and the adventure continues.

The last rooms

I am slowly descending into insanity, I mean, you find yourself in a small corridor with a door at the end and a paper-thin wall on the right that opens up to the last outside area, run next to the jeep to trigger a ninja.

Bug n°2: Assure that the ninja leaves yet another cartouche, but you need to assure he does! Do not save during his save animation or you might mess this up. If the ninja does not leave anything, reloading the savegame and trying to kill him again might work out.

Gathered the cartouche, use the receptacle on the NE corner and open the door S, do not worry, this is the last time you are ever gonna enter inside of some ginormous room for this game, hold on!!

Pick up in the first tile of the new room some flares, woah, this room is dark OnO

In the SW part of the room there is a star receptacle, remember this if you want to do the 2nd route to end this level, which I do not recommend at all.

Check instead NW where you will find a piece of cartouche, then look at that massive pillar in front of the opening, turn around and face S, then go up the pillar using that very clear invisible ladder. Reach the top, run jump right (E), lastly run jump twice S, and gather the second part of the cartouche, combine it to get a full one, go down to the main floor safely and go NE next to the open door from which you enter, the wall to your right is climbable, climb to the top and use the cartouche, now make your way back to the small corridor with paper-thin walls.

Route 1: I am NOPE-ing myself out of here

Go left (S) and get the heck out of this game, delete it, review it the way it is deserved, escape from the madness and the incredible headache I just feel I have gotten ...

The End

Route 2: Getting a star to a star receptacle and do something?

Go to the Leafed room (N) and immediately turn towards the newly open door I spoke about before (E), gather yet another star. Remember the star receptacle? In the darkroom with those massive pillars?

Let us go back there and use the star there to get ... something? Quite frankly checking over the map on Fexinspect a tool very used by Doggett, for instance, this is supposed to trigger the end door that still is already open on its own so ... it is useless, so go back to that famous little hallway and now go left (S) and end the level.

Why have I chosen this level to start is beyond me ...

The End
