After the opening flyby that takes you past Lara's stalled vehicle to the village entrance, turn right and find a jump switch on the third column. Activate it to open a trap door somewhere and continue S to a chicken coop on your left. Side jump over the fence and open the front door of the coop. Stick your hand in the small house in the back corner to startle an egg-laying hen and withdraw the HOUSE KEY.

 

Exit, side flip over the fence and find the S ladder near the closed barn doors. Climb up to the loft, where you'll find a wall switch that opens the barn doors down below. Get back down, enter the barn and disturb some irritable cows. You need a crowbar to open the W gate, so pull up onto the E window ledge, jump SW to grab the loft and pull up. Turn around, look up and you can see part of a STAR in the N wall. Go to the middle of the loft, where you'll have a clearer shot, and jump up and down while firing your pistols until the star shatters. When you're successful a screen prompt will confirm that there's one down, four to go.

 

Pull the feed bin from the corner to reveal the BAG OF WHEAT and get back down. Return N to where you began the level and turn right at the bridge. Proceed W into the heart of the village and use the House Key to open the N building. Enter, turn left, walk past the guy lost in deep thought and press the wall button to open an outdoor gate. Exit, go through the W archway and see the opened gate straight ahead. Go up the steps, climb the W ladder to the roof of this building and shimmy left until you can drop down to a lower roof section.

 

Run E along the roof and shoot the window in the adjacent building. Hop inside someone's bedroom and search the footlocker next to the bed for the STABLE KEY. Go around to the other side of the bed and spot something on the floor. Stoop down to pick up the HIDDEN MESSAGE and read about Lara's verboten snowball launcher. Exit the bedroom, safety drop to the ground and head E through the archway. Just before you reach the bridge, turn left and use the Stable Key to open the double doors.

 

The horses inside seem to be as irritable as the cows in the barn, so ignore them and climb the ladder near the trap door you opened earlier. Pull up into the loft and note the W wall switch behind you. But first, look up N to see another STAR (2 of 5). This one is not easy to target and hit, but standing to one side underneath the beam it's on and shooting at an angle seems to work best. Push over the barrel next to one of the E columns (face S) to reveal a HOLLY for SECRET #1.

 

The HINT in the NW corner describes a scepter broken into two pieces that's hidden somewhere. Pull down the wall down and watch the flyby as gates are opened and we get a glimpse of an apparent prowler. Before leaving here, hop up onto the dirt mound in the dark SW corner for a small medipack disguised as a chocolate bar. Exit the stables, loop around right and hop over the short S fence guarded by a small snowman. Proceed into the next area where the prowler pretends to be working on a defective wall switch and dismisses Lara's query with a curt reply.

 

Turn left (W) at the well and go up to the covered porch to find the WOOD STICK next to the closed door.  Continue W past the covered porch to the local chapel that draws Lara's attention. Open the door, no key required, and go inside to learn from the Padre that the scepter mentioned in the earlier hint has been stolen, presumably as a stunt by some ragamuffins. This has destroyed the villagers' Christmas spirit, so Lara promises to find and return it. Hop over the altar railing and pull down the N wall switch to open a gate right outside, then exit the chapel.

 

Go through the opened N gate into the cemetery and find a trio of SNOWBALLS in the NW corner (ammo for a weapon you'll acquire later). Find three identical stone crosses mounted on bases and push each one to the other end of its burial plot. A concrete slab moves aside next to the chapel wall, creating an opening that you can drop into to find a crawl space that leads to the CROWBAR. Pull out of the desecrated grave, exit the cemetery, loop around right and turn right (N) at the covered porch. Continue past the opened gates to the next square, turn left and go E through the archway and beyond to the bridge where you began the level.

 

Turn left there and return to the barn with the irritable cows. Use the crowbar to open the W gate and pull the chain inside to lower the platform you're standing on. Exit S to face a frozen pool and note the flower designs etched in the ice. Hop from the opening onto the first such design in the NW corner, then use stand jumps to land on the remaining flower tiles to open the gate on the S side. Move the SW ice block (without stepping back down onto the frozen pool, or the gate will shut again) down the S passage onto the dark trigger tile at the end. A block underneath will rise a short distance, carrying the ice block with it.

 

Hop back and pull down the wall switch. The ice block will shatter, revealing the BLADE. Exit N to the elevator platform and pull the chain again to make the platform rise. Exit the barn, turn right and go through the alley and loop around right in front of the well into the partially fenced area for another batch of SNOWBALLS. Head NW toward the wall switch that the prowler was working on earlier and pull it down to open a door to this building around the corner to your left. Enter the building and hop onto the table for the CARROTS. Stand in front of the table next to the fireplace and take the big medipack from the drawer.

 

Exit this building, turn right and hop over the short fence, and go NE toward the bridge. Turn left into the stable, go to the stall in the back left corner and place the Carrots in the manger to attract the attention of a hungry horse. Hop into the stall and pick up the WELL HANDLE that the horse was hiding from you. Exit the stable and loop around right through the alley and stand against the well facing E. Affix the Well Handle and draw up the pail. Go around to your right and grab the FULL BUCKET facing N. Run N between the two buildings and enter the building on your right. Stand in front of (and not in) the fireplace and empty your Full Bucket to douse the flames.

 

Vault up into the fireplace and jump straight up to open the ceiling trap door. Turn around, jump straight up to grab the ladder and climb up to the roof. Loop around the chimney to find the TAVERN KEY. Return to the ladder hole and take a running jump SW onto an adjacent roof. Go around the chimney and jump NW down onto an ice ledge. Shoot the shuttered window nearby and jump there for a HOLLY and SECRET #2. Hop back to the ice ledge, pick up a TORCH (that doesn't appear in your inventory) and toss it down to where you can easily find it. Safety drop after it and stand in front of the W door next to the wood pile. Use your crowbar to break the lock and kick the door open.

 

Enter the woodshed, climb up onto the ledge and pick up the SMALL LOGS. Exit, find your torch, pick it up and go N, left through the E alley and right into the N building where a fire is burning in the corner pot stove. The guy in here is still lost in thought, so exit this building and go back left through the W alley and right past the woodshed and stacked logs into the next area. Turn left and locate the large snowball partially buried next to the wall. Melt it with your torch and watch it disappear into the snow, leaving behind the SNOWBALL LAUNCHER.

 

Retrieve your torch and go back past the woodshed, turn left through the E alley and loop around right to find a keyhole. Use the Tavern Key to open the door and go inside to search the cabinet against the wall for an EMPTY BOTTLE. Open the trap door in the corner and drop down with your torch to a lower passage. Follow to a basement storage area and loop around right into a side room lined with wine caskets. Leave the torch here and go back to the grated floor. Locate the casket with a lid that's different from the others and shoot it to fill the trench with a vintage red wine. Pull up the N end of the grated floor (facing N), hop down and fill your Empty Bottle. Lara says "no," apparently reluctant to give up even this small amount of wine.

 

The stacked tables near the NE corner are movable, so pull and push them to the opposite SE corner into a space between the wine caskets. Hop up onto the stacked tables and kick a hole in the E wall. Enter the crawl space and continue to a wall switch that lowers a block in the wall back where you left your torch. You're still lacking something essential, however. Return to the trap door and pull out into the building where you acquired the Empty Bottle. Exit this building and run straight forward and a bit left toward a dead tree. Step on the thin ice covering the triangular puddle in the corner and watch it crumble under your weight. Fill the Empty Bucket you've been carrying around and return to the wine cellar.

 

Loop around right to where you left the torch, locate the lowered block and enter an elements room. Empty the Full Bucket into the scales on the left, the Wine Bottle into the middle scales, and place the Bag of Wheat into the scales on the right. That wine is potent stuff, so grab your torch and light it for a cut scene of the wine casket to your left. Go there and pick up the LASERSIGHT. Combine it with the Snowball Launcher for later action and leave this place with your torch in hand.

 

Hop out of the trench, exit this building and once outdoors look up N to see a STAR (3 of 5) on the roof in front of the chimney. Save your game, as you have only nine available snowballs (and will acquire no more), and use the combined Launcher and Lasersight to shatter it, experimenting with different standing positions if necessary. For me, standing directly in front of the window with the pot stove, lined up with the chimney and with the grass to my left, worked on the first attempt.

 

Carry your torch with you S through the alley and SW to the chapel. Leave the torch outside, enter the chapel and look up to see the STAR (4 of 5) high up in the rafters. Don't try to shoot it from the entrance but go to the golden receptacle stand in front of the altar, turn around and aim at the highest tip of the star to shatter it with a single snowball. Exit the chapel, look up at the roof of the E building ahead and find the final STAR (5 of 5). Stand near the grass next to the dead tree, aim at the highest tip as before and you should be able to shatter it with no difficulty. A screen shot shows a door opening in front of you, so retrieve your torch and go up the E steps into the opened doorway.

 

Look to your left and see the lady knitting away while sitting next to the cold fireplace. Place the Small Logs you've been carrying in the fireplace and light them with the torch. The sweet lady shows her appreciation for the sudden warmth by adding KEY PIECE 1 to your inventory. Duck underneath the stairs for flares and search the nearby chest for a big medipack. You can now leave the torch behind, as it is no longer needed.

 

Run down the steps and loop around left to the covered porch, turn right and go N past the opened gates to the next courtyard, turn left and go E through the alley and past the stable to the bridge where you began the level. Turn right and go toward the dead tree near the NE corner. Just beyond it you can see something sticking out of the snow. Combine the Wood Stick and the Blade, stand there facing the dead tree and start digging with the SHOVEL. The GOLD STAR appears magically at your feet.

 

Go back the way you came, in a generally SW direction back to the chapel. Look up, draw your Snowball Launcher and shoot the bell directly beneath the cross. Padre comes out to find out what's going on, and he leaves you KEY PIECE 2. Turn around, go up the E steps into the small building where the sweet lady is still knitting away, hop up into the SE window and shoot the glass. Hop down into an enclosed courtyard and pull down the W wall switch to open the exit gate. Go to the E building and pull the bag away from the keyhole. Combine the two key pieces and use the GRANARY KEY to open the door.

 

Go inside, push the granary wheel two times (begin facing E) so that the pole is pointed in the opposite direction. Open the floor trap door near the NE corner and hop up into the corner alcove. Turn around and jump up to grab the floor above and pull up into the loft. Stand facing S at the fence, note the on-screen admonition and take a running jump against the fence so that you land on the narrow beam. Stand jump to the next beam and hop to the raised platform in front of the floor lever. Push it to lift a gate down below and drop down to the floor.

 

Pull the feed bin out of the E alcove and move it onto the grate next to the opened trap door. Note the grain spilling onto the floor from a hole in the bin. Hop down through the opening and wait while the rest of the grain falls through the grate. Pick up the GOLD STICK that fell down with the grain, pull back up through the hole and exit the granary. Return to the chapel, combine the Gold Stick and the Gold Star and place the STAR SCEPTRE in the receptacle in front of the altar. Enjoy the concluding flyby that shows life returning to the village in time for Christmas.
