ESCAPE THE TOMB

After Lara finishes sliding down into this tomb, make an U-turn to the right to throw a lever and open the gate right in front of the slope, but, before going through, check the opposite alcove for flares. Run upstairs and kill a ninja at the top, who kindly leaves a small medipack behind. Stick to the left wall to find the next lever, which opens a door in the opposite end of this room and also lets two scorpions out.

 

In the next area we come across the Eye of Horus door, so let's start our fetch quest through the only possible hallway. The next gate opens upon approach, and on the adjacent tiles to the stairway leading down to the pool you can find a small medipack and flares. Jump into the water and swim through the tunnel to the next pool, get the uzi clips in the corner and pull yourself out.

 

Get the shotgun shells near the statues on the North end and then climb the wall ladder on the opposite side. After climbing past the colored tiles, backflip to a ledge and get the SHOTGUN on the far end, then return about halfway through this ledge and line up to the rope dangling over the pool. Use it to swing to the upper level, then monkey swing across to get the first EYE PIECE from the plinth. A door opens in the previous pool room, so dive into the water and swim back there.

 

Behind the tall door is a ramp and a, you guessed it, boulder trap. But fear not, when you hear the danger cue just stand still and you'll see the boulder fall down into a hole right in front of you (stay clear of the edge nevertheless). Jump over the boulder pit and dodge the two mummies as you leap past a spike pit and dart traps to get THE HAND OF ORION. Retrace your steps back to the room with the eye door and use it to enter the opposite wing of this tomb.

 

Slide down the pole to find three scorpions eagerly expecting you, then head through the doorway to find a rotating statue blowing flames. If you look into the deadly pit below, you'll see the second eye piece, so let's get to it. Climb the ladder to your left to an alcove up top, then monkey swing across to the crack in the wall. You need to shimmy all the way to the left, but being careful —and quick —not to be set ablaze by the statue.

 

On the opposite end, hoist yourself up and assess your next jump. You need to jump off the slope to reach the edge of the opposite side. Pull up and time your strides past the flames (alternatively, if you're feeling impatient, you can crawl under them) and throw the lever in the end. This floods the pit around the rotating statue with water, so you can swim down and retrieve the second EYE PIECE safely. Combine both of them and climb up the pole to open the huge circular door.

 

Proceed through the zigzagging tunnel until you stumble upon a ninja. Shoot him down and dive into the pool to get some shotgun shells, then swim through the underwater passage to find a lever in an air pocket at the end. Swim back and go through the door to the final area. From this vantage point, you can see two cartouche receptacles on both sides of the room. Our next goal is set.

 

Dive into water and get the UZIS near the North wall, then turn around and swim straight through the wide opening South. Two ninjas will shoot you while you're pulling out of water, so mind your health. Once you're in the clear, climb up the blocks in the NE corner and monkey swing to an opening high in the wall. Slide down into a room with coffins and statues.

 

Find a statue in an alcove to the South that you can push, then climb the ladder that was immediately behind it. Near the top, with Lara's hands at about where the colored tiles begin, backflip and grab the edge of a small alcove behind a boulder. Press Action to push it down. This opens a gate in the North end of the room, from where a ninja rushes out to shoot you. Inside this small chamber is another lever, throw it and you'll hear the steps of another approaching ninja.

 

On the opposite corner of this room, the gate at the top of the small stairs is now open. Follow around the grille to a crawlspace in the end. In the next area, you'll spot the first cartouche on a burning plinth; climb up the nearby blocks and shoot the vase to disable the trap and get your hands on the first BA CARTOUCHE. You are immediately transported elsewhere, save your game.

 

You are now atop some high walls in the room with the coffins and statues. If you light up a flare it might be easier to notice that the nearby ceiling is low, except for a small area between your current position and another lever. Do a running jump there, being careful not to hit the ceiling (if you happen to fall down, you need to reload). Throw the lever and immediately back away from it as a boulder will land on it in a few seconds.

 

Get down to ground floor, get the shotgun shells from the gap between the two walls, then run around the wall behind the lever to find that a statue has shifted its position, revealing a wall ladder behind it. At the top, mind the gaps as you run up the ramp, dispatch a ninja, and throw one last lever. Safety drop through one of the gaps near the lever to find the open gates leading to the second BA CARTOUCHE.

 

We have what we came for. Swim back to the previous area, get the small medipack and pull up off the water onto the ledge by the wall. Climb the ladder above the block to get to the catwalk, then roll around, do a running jump to land past the statue, and place the first cartouche. From this alcove, do a running jump with grab to reach the short bridge jutting out from the exit door and another one to reach the opposite alcove, where you can place the second cartouche. With the door open, head upwards and the adventure comes to an end.
