After sliding down in front of an underpass, pick up the flares and walk to the edge of a pit. Stand left, jump SW onto a slope, slide and jump to the next slope, slide and jump near the bottom to grab the vines in the E wall. Climb up to a ledge and turn right. Jump the gap to a castle courtyard and shoot the baddy for his LIBRARY KEY. Find the keyhole in the SW corner, hop first into the window on your right for a small medipack, and then use the key to lift the nearby gate.

 

Enter the sun-splashed library and hop up onto the nearby lower shelves to find a book switch on one side (cut scene of a closed gate upstairs) and a wall switch on the other side that we'll use later. Go around to the SW corner and find a pushblock. Pull it once E and twice N (yes, I know the compass is haywire) to access a second book switch (no cut scene this time). Move the pushblock four times S to access a third book switch. Now go to the lower shelves on the S side of the library to find a fourth book switch on one side and a wall switch on the other. Go ahead and pull down this wall switch, opening a gate between the lower shelves.

 

Go there, pick up the flares and continue down the ramp to an underground cavern. The other wall switch on the N side, the one you haven't used yet, opens the way upstairs. Go down the winding stairs and you'll come to a crossing. Both forks appear to end at the same pushblock. Turn around, light a flare and go back upstairs a bit until you see a NE crawl space. Enter, drop down the other side, find a small medipack at the top of the steps and go down to the pushblock. Pull it once, go back up through the crawl space and go down to the passage opened up by pulling the block.

 

Push the block N as far as it will go and reverse roll. Go back upstairs and through the crawl space, drop down and climb up onto the pushblock. Jump up to activate the jump switch in the S wall to lift a gate and go back through the crawl space. Go down the stairs to the revealed passage, go through the E opening where you see an underground lake below, and grab the uzi ammo on the ledge to your left. Return to the pushblock and pull it three times so that it blocks the passage once again. Reverse roll, go up the steps and around to the other side of the pushblock. Push it E as far as it will go, get up on it and take a running jump over the underground lake.

 

Grab the opening where the gate lifted and pull up into the passage for flares. As you run forward into a cave the gate shuts behind you. Pick up the large medipack next to the skeleton, go through the W opening to another cave with a closed gate and a skeleton lying near the SHOTGUN and shotgun ammo. Go back the way you came, continue E toward another skeleton for uzi ammo and into the cave ahead for the FLOWER. When you pick it up, three raptors attack, and they're surprisingly hard to kill.

 

Go back through the W passage to the cave where you acquired the shotgun, deal with a fourth raptor and find that the gate there is now open. Back flip onto the slope and jump off to grab the E ladder. Climb to an upper cave, greet a raptor and look for the nearby shotgun ammo and uzi ammo. Walk backwards up the W ramp to trigger a boulder and run back down and to one side. Go back up and around the corner to a slope. Slide down to a familiar stairway and go back up to the library.

 

Return to the pushblock you used earlier and push it N against the lattice wall and into the NW alcove. Get up on it and activate the jump switch on the side of the bookshelf. It must do something, so hop down and move the pushblock laboriously across the library and near the NE corner so you can use it to access the high opening that leads to an outdoor area. Run toward the E wall for SECRET #1 and roam the area for the UZIS, a large medipack, uzi ammo and shotgun ammo. Return to the library and move the pushblock several times W so that you can access the upper ledges via a break in the railing.

 

Go S to the crossing and loop around left to find uzi ammo. Return to the crossing and look right for another book switch. You hear the sound of a gate lifting, but first check a S branch for flares. Go through the opened W gate and down the steps through the passage to another outdoor area. Get the shotgun ammo at the other end at the NW corner and look W to see another FLOWER. Jump there, pick it up and hop down to find flares between a couple of graves. Jump up to the SE corner for a small medipack and jump up NE to get back to the library.

 

Go straight across E and down the steps, place the Flowers in the snake head receptacles to lift the gate, go on through and down the steps to an opening leading to another gravesite. Pick up the flares, then go to the SE corner to find a large medipack hidden in the weeds, and uzi ammo in the NE corner. Go around the corner into the dark tunnel to trigger a conversation with a swarthy character who wants to negotiate a deal to open the gate he's guarding. When camera control is restored you could shoot the guy now and take the SKULL KEY he dropped, but the builder's intent is that you not do that, so don't.

 

Pick up a TORCH and return to the library, get down to the ground floor and find the passage leading down to the underground cavern you visited earlier. Light the torch and return to the library. On the N side, hop up onto the lower book shelf and pull down that wall switch you haven't yet used. A direct path to the S side is created, so go there and pull that switch back up. Take the long way around to the N side, retrieve your torch and go up the steps to the snake-head gate. Go on through, return to the tunnel where you picked up the torch and carefully light the nearby pile of sticks to trigger some additional conversation with the bargaining dude.

 

The gate he was guarding opens during the conversation. Don't go through now, but take your torch back toward the library, but this time go through the passage between the stairs to the lower section. Loop around left through the E opening and follow to an outdoor terrace. Light the two face carvings (stand to one side rather than in front of them) to open the W lattice door. Again, don't go through immediately because there's something else to light first. Turn around, hop over the short wall and slide down into a lower area. Walk into the pentagonal S opening and beware of the spiked pit in the darkness ahead. Around to your right is a wall sconce you can light. You're now through with your torch, so you can toss it aside.

 

For a secret, go to the SW corner, turn around and slide backwards to grab the pit's edge, release and drop down to a safe area without spikes. Take a step back for SECRET #2 and pick up the GRENADE GUN, a large medipack and desert eagle ammo. Use the vines to climb back out of the pit, hop forward and turn left just past the opening. Walk up the hill as far as you can, turn around, back flip onto the slope and jump off with a right curve to get back up to the terrace.

 

Go through the opened W door and shoot two crocodiles swimming around in the pool. Jump into the water to find the CROWBAR under the bridge and desert eagle ammo at the NE corner. Pull out onto the bridge for uzi ammo, grab the small medipack near the SW corner and go to the NE corner where the ground is a bit higher. Pull up onto the wall (up arrow and action keys only) and jump over NE for SECRET #3. Pick up the DESERT EAGLE, desert eagle ammo and a small medipack, hop back to the wall and drop down into the pool area.

 

Exit through the opened E gate, turn left and return to the library. Use the pushblock or the stairs to get to the upper section. The only lattice door that reacts to your crowbar is the one at the end of the NW walkway, so open it and step out onto a ledge overlooking the pool room. You can see an opening across the way with a red gem you need to acquire. But first there's some prep work to be done here. Either jump SE from the broken bridge to the niche, or to be absolutely safe you can hang from the broken bridge and shimmy right to pull up in front of the next lattice door. This one does react to your crowbar (from the other side, clever), so open it and jump back to the broken bridge.

 

Take a running jump NW to grab the sloped wall, shimmy left and around the corner until you can pull up in front of the plinth bearing the CRIMSON CRYSTAL. Drop down, exit the pool area, return to the library and loop around right through the passage and the opening at the snake-head receptacles to get back to that mean-looking dude who opened the gate for you earlier. Give the campfire a wide berth, squeeze past the dude and go through the passage to another outdoor area where the motorbike is waiting. 

 

Run past the motorbike to find flares near the end of the walkway to your left, go back a bit and find the high W jump switch. Activate it to raise blocks behind you, climb them and jump to the W ledge. Open two more crowbar doors and pick up the uzi ammo at the end of the ledge. Looking back, opening these last three crowbar doors doesn't seem to have accomplished anything productive. Drop to the ground, run W past the walkway and turn left. Hop up the hill and engage the guard and dog so you won't have to deal with them later (or, you can simply run them over with the motorbike). Return to the motorbike, mount it and drive W and N up the hill. Loop around and drive S with speed over the gap to land on the facing slope. Drive down into the next area, clockwise through a valley to a crossing and dismount.

 

Go W to a lake, jump in and find an underwater passage N. Pick up the uzi ammo at the entrance and follow until you can surface and pull out after grabbing the desert eagle ammo. Go through the short passage and slide down to a large cavernous area while a gate slams shut behind you. The skeletons scattered about don't bode well for your continued health. Explore the floor for a spare SHOTGUN, desert eagle ammo, a large medipack, a small medipack and 2 x shotgun ammo, all within convenient reach of a skeleton. There are two alcoves, one SE and the other NW, with wall buttons that Lara pulls down as if they were switches, to lift the E gate leading to a plinth with a second CRIMSON CRYSTAL.

 

When you pick it up a T-Rex arrives, but you can dispatch it with a single desert eagle round to the belly. Run across to the W side of the cavern where a ladder has become accessible. Climb to an upper passage, get into the crawl space and follow around past an opening for a small medipack. Return to the opening, drop down into a small cave and jump into the nearby water. Swim along the passage until you can pull out near the spot where you parked the motorbike. Pull out onto the SW corner ledge and jump the rock ledges to the other side of the lake. Mount the motorbike, drive it NE and clockwise around the shorter outbuilding past a closed gate. Drive to your right up the hill just past the outbuilding and loop around to a precarious ledge where you can see a furled drawbridge.

 

Dismount, run along the ledge to find uzi ammo and a small medipack near the far end, safety drop from the E edge to land near the closed gate you drove by, and open it with the button/wall switch. A dog comes charging out, followed by a guard who drops the BRIDGE KEY. You needn't explore this area, as you've done so already, so run clockwise around the outer perimeter of this building to find that you don't need the motorbike to get up to that ledge with the furled bridge.

 

Run past the motorbike until you reach a raised area on the ledge. Look to your right to find a crack in the E wall, beyond which is a target (1 of 5). Stand in front of the target, draw your pistols and stoop while firing at the target (which shattered on my second shot). Turn around and find a crawl space in the W wall. Follow the ledge around, either right or left, and pull into the crawl space. Drop down the other side into a library that looks as if it hasn't been cleaned for a while, shoot a guard and pick up shotgun ammo around the corner. Get on the lower shelf and pull the pushblock away from the support beam. Go around it to the other side and push it to the end of the shelf and over the edge. Use it to activate the N book switch to open a gate.

 

Hop down, go down the stairs and pull down the wall switch to open the gate to the main library. Go upstairs and through the crawl space, follow the ledge to the furled bridge and turn right there to find the opened W gate. Enter a small control and use the Bridge Key to unfurl that bridge so you can drive the motorbike across to the main castle. Do so, dismount and place the two Crimson Crystals to lift the large gate. Go up on foot to find desert eagle ammo at the base of the ramp near the stairs, then go around past the portals into the SW room where there's another ramp. Stand at the base of the ramp facing S to see another one of those targets (2 of 5) beyond an opening in the wall. Shoot it with your pistols while jumping up and down.

 

Return to the room with the first ramp and jump from its highest corner to the upper walkway. Jump NW from the walkway to the slope, slide and grab and shimmy left around two corners, pull up onto a ledge to find a small medipack and look E to see a target (3 of 5) in the distance. Stand left and shatter it with a single pistol shot without jumping or stooping. Safety drop from either side, return to the short ramp and jump back to the upper walkway. This time go straight S, jump the gap and continue S a short distance. Turn right, hop to an opening in the wall and see another target (4 of 5) E in the distance. Stand right and again fire your pistols without jumping or stooping.

 

Jump SE to the next ledge for uzi ammo, jump back W to the wooden walkway and turn left. Walk past the closed gate on your right and look for a jump switch in the moss-covered W wall. Jump to activate it, and the adjacent gate opens. Turn right and use the nearby sarcophagus to pull back up to the wooden walkway. Turn left and follow the walkway until you approach the S wall. Look down to see a diamond-shaped opening in the wall. Run off with grab to land inside the opening and slide down right onto a flat surface for a large medipack. Slide down the rest of the way into a dark cave and run forward into the N opening. Safety drop from the other end and vault up to face a target (5 of 5) at close quarters. Shoot it for a cut scene showing a container blowing up so as to make its contents available.

 

Run N past the ladder to find uzi ammo at the end of the passage. Return to the ladder and climb up to a higher passage. Hop up NE to trigger a boulder and jump back out of its way. Continue up the ramp and hear a gate opening upon your approach. Pull up W as the gate closes behind you and go to the SW room with the long ramp. Use the sarcophagus once again to pull up to the walkway and turn left. Drop down S into the next room and vault up onto the sarcophagus for the OCEANIC MASK. You hear the W gate opening when you pick it up, but ignore that for the moment and go into the E room and left to find another sarcophagus and a moss-covered block, either of which you can use to get back up onto the wooden walkway.

 

Follow the walkway all the way back N, safety drop from the NW end into the room with the short ramp and go down the stairs to the waiting motorbike. Mount it and drive up the stairs. Follow the cobblestone floor past the W gate you opened, continue up the stairs to the wooden walkway and follow its twists and turns until you reach a dead end. Drive off left onto the floor and continue W down the stairs, emerge outdoors facing the setting sun, turn right at the monument and drive up the hill onto a paved street to end the level.
