THE ENCHANTED PALACE (Demo)

After a bright and colorful flyby through an area of Lara's mansion, turn around and pick up 2 x shotgun ammo and flares while the friendly cat rubs up against your legs.  Near the NW corner is a small medipack, and between the rainbow panels is a pushblock you can pull into the room. Go around it into the revealed alcove (strange animation if you happen to hit a corner on your way inside) for the KEY that shows up as "load" in your inventory.

 

Note the rearing horse in the SW corner and go toward the left (NE) passage. Push the gold star button (more of the same strange animation, which I won't mention again) and go into the passage for a large medipack. There's another pushblock in the S wall, lighter than the other panels. Pull it out and push it aside to reveal a short passage for SECRET #1. Grab the small medipack and exit to the entrance foyer.

 

Go upstairs and go around left to find another pushblock in the NW corner. Push it to reveal a passage with a rainbow panel that doesn't respond to your action key. Go back around, pause for the SHOTGUN just past the landing and push the SE button to open the door leading to the attic. Use the key at the top of the stairs to open the door and trigger a brief flyby through the next room, accompanied by a Tchaikovsky theme. Enter and try to ignore the relatively harmless spider that nibbles at your heels. If you draw a weapon you'll just target the cat that wanders in, instead of the spider.

 

Approach the E aquarium where a Lara mermaid is swimming beyond the glass panel and a cut scene kicks in, activating the corner heart plinths. Shoot the panel in the middle of the N wall to expose a keyhole for later. Go back downstairs to the bedroom level and return to the NW corner. That rainbow panel has moved aside, allowing you to step forward for another KEY. Return to the aquarium room and use the key to open the rainbow panel. Push the button for a brief flyby through the dining room.

 

Your way out is again blocked, so shoot the panel and go down to the bedroom level, where you meet your first enemies in a trio of wolves. The poor horse is really spooked by them. When all are dead, continue all the way downstairs and enter the dining room SE where the doors have opened. When you enter the action music changes to ethereal music and a flyby pans the room. Run forward and hop into the SE window to find a button that opens a panel in the E wall.

 

Crawl underneath the tapestry to a fixed camera and activate the jump switch in the middle of the E wall. Exit the dining room and go back upstairs to the bedroom level. The S door on the left is now open, so go inside the ornate music room, pick up a small medipack to your right, a large medipack on the carpet ahead and a RED BOOK ("load" again) next to the short chair. Return downstairs to the dining room (yes, I know) and loop around left to place the book in a vacant spot in the shelf. Bells start ringing, so exit to the entrance hall and shoot another wolf on the stairs so the horse will calm down.

 

Go upstairs to the bedroom level and loop around right to find that the S door on the right is now open. But before you can enter a flyby kicks in to focus on the doors that remain closed, and the level abruptly ends.
