FOLKLORIST DIARY II – THE CURSED MEMORIES (DEMO)

Lara slides into a cave... get the flares and shells from the dead body in front of you and look up. You should see a ledge above the blocked doorway and a small passage in a corner opposite the dead body. Find a flat spot past the slope, just behind the dead body, and go up to an alcove, then hop onto the ledge and run jump to the opening in the other end. Crawl in and claim SECRET #1 (ammo, a small medipack, and a healing crystal). Crawl through the doorway on the ground floor.

 

Retrieve the flares plus a SCROLL from the skeleton. It states "Follow the cats... and reach the destiny." Move the cargo crate towards the entrance and use it to reach an opening high up on the wall. Pull up and slide down into the next area. If you look around, you'll see a few cat statues perched atop some tall columns. Hmm...

 

From your starting position, follow the building ahead of you to the opposite end, you'll run past a barred door and, near the back wall, turn around to spot a lever. Jump to the sarcophagus in the middle of the pool to collect a rocket, then swim through an underwater passage to find a small medipack. That crystal on the opposite side of the barrier is our next goal, so climb out of this pool and drop into the next, swim through the open door and SECRET #2 is yours: ammo, a small medipack, and the aforementioned healing crystal. Get back out.

 

Now, let's find a way up to those cats, shall we? Pull up into the crack on the right side of the waterfall and do a running jump towards the cat statue. Jump to the ledge above the double doors and shimmy past the slope. Grab the crevice on the wall and keep shimmying until you reach the ladder, from which you can backflip to the catwalks above the sarcophagus. Behind the block with the ankh motif you'll find the next cat, so take a running jump to the nearby crevice and pull up when possible. Jump towards the cracked pillar and find a lever behind the cat statue just behind it. The left torch lights up.

 

Drop down to the ground floor and now explore the caves opposite the barred door. Find a ladder just to the right of another set of double doors and climb up, backflipping at the top to find the lever which opens them up. Head down into the next area as you get locked in. Get the flares and ammo from the skeleton, then drop through the hole, carefully dodging the spikes below. Get the shells from the unlucky fellow and crawl through the dark corner, but be wary that a snake is ready to bite you just around the corner.

 

Pull the lever as two entities watch you through the fence and crawl back. Use the slanted stones on the left hand side to jump towards the block in the middle of the sandy slopes and pull back up through the hole to the open door just above. Enter and dispatch the entity, then go through the side path where they came from (with the burning fire) for some grenades from their previous victim. Back in the central room, step on the gilded plate in the center to open the central door.

 

Kill another entity (mind the spiked pit!) and explore the opposite niche for some goodies laying around a skeleton. Go back and through the doorway with the depressed floor, but don't blindly rush in! As you cross the threshold, Lara will spot a SHOTGUN. Pull the lever near the fence to open the last door in the room with the gilded floor plate. Another entity and their pet snake await inside but, more importantly, so does a CROWBAR.

 

Luckily Lara has been followed, so two mercenaries reopen the double doors at the top. Dispatch them, and go use that crowbar to break the wooden barred door right across from you. An entity follows you, after dealing with it grab the ammo surrounding the stack of crates in the side room and pull the lever in the windowsill to finally light up that second torch and open the entrance doors...

 

Which obviously will close behind you. You arrive at a deep pit, turn around and grab the ledge to get into a crawlspace right underneath, climb down the ladder at the end to another crack, this time shimmy across to the right and pull up when you can. Jump towards the ledge across from you, and then onto the one with the dead soldier and ammo. Another running jump gets you into the opening into the wall.

 

Shoot the two entities running around, get the large medipack from the dead soldier and jump uphill towards the columns surrounding the entrance. You'll find some ammo by the column, which in turn will reveal SECRET #3 for you: a healing crystal. Run through the doorway between the pillars and Lara will soon spot the UZIS. Now would be a good time to save your game.

 

Notice the several dead skeletons past the gate. To avoid becoming one yourself, sprint straight across and dive through the closing door to slide into a room with a mirror. Lara will notice a button on the reflection, so quickly go press it on the real world side and rush into the open trapdoors to crouch and wait until you're clear of the spiked walls. You still need the mirror world to open the next door, so find the highlighted eyes of horus on the tiled floor and step on the proper tiles — left on the first row, middle on the third one, and right on the last one —, to open the door and rush in.

 

Kill the two entities in the chamber with shallow water and find the broken pillar to reach a  ledge running around the perimeter above. The camera changes to reveal a large medipack right behind you, so jump back to get it, pull over the pillars and go towards the alcove behind the waterfall, just above the entrance, to find a small medipack and a lever. One torch lights up below.

 

Go back to the central structure and climb the pillars again, this time jump across to the opposite side and towards the ladder on your right. Crawl backwards to another ladder and immediately backflip to twist and grab the next pillar. Now do a series of running jumps over the flame traps around the perimeter of the room until you get to that hanging pillar with the ladder on the left side, at the top is an alcove with the second lever. Carefully work your way down to the shallow water chamber and through the gate.

 

As you run in you'll hear an entity reveal themselves as they push a boulder towards you. Plenty of space to dodge it. Find a small medipack and ammo, plus another snake, behind the ladder before climbing up. Backflip at the top to grab the column behind you, then monkey swing across to the opposite end. Get some ammo before pulling the lever to open the door right above you. Head inside, find a large medipack on the floor and pull up onto an alcove on the opposite wall, from where you can jump across broken columns to reach the doorway at the top.

 

Run towards the flares in the darkness and... wait, was that...?

 

Drop into the next area, kill the two entities and grab the goodies around the dead body. Climb the blocks to jump into the broken column in the center and the camera shifts to show you a translucent wall. Run jump inside and get that shiny RED JEWEL. As you do, a skeleton pharaoh will reveal itself, and they're not alone: a multiarmed entity is stomping towards you. Put that shotgun to use and quickly dispatch the latter so you can focus on long shots with the pistols against the pharaoh, always doing your best to avoid the flames. If needed, crouch in the nearby shallow water pits to douse yourself off.

 

Get the second RED JEWEL left behind and use them on the pillars near the decorated wall you came through. A pushblock falls down nearby, but no need to push it at all, just use it as a stepping stone to reach the catwalks above and go claim the pharaoh's RED JEWEL. The receptacle for it is within sight, so open that door and slide into the darkness to finish the level.
