THE SHOTGUN

 

Let the current takes you to a huge lake cave. Get out of the water to your left, shoot a panther and perhaps a crocodile could be triggered in the lake too; you know what to do. For extra pickups, from this ledge next to the water, face NW and take a running jump with a right curve to grab the edge of a niche behind the W waterfall, pull up and pick up the shotgun shells; for another pickup, turn around and take a running jump (no grab) to the SE block next to the ledge you came from and pick up the magnum clips; run off the edge to ground floor. Now turn right and jump into the lake (perhaps another croc is triggered), swim to the nearby opposite side (N), get out of the water and go to the slope behind the palm tree (N); Lara will look to its top. From the left of the slope behind the palm tree take a running jump over it with a slightly right curve, landing onto another slope, slide a bit, jump over the hole with spikes and jump to land onto a flatter block (another hole with spikes in front of you); turn right and climb the taller block to get the SHOTGUN at its top; get down to the lake banks.

 

FIRST SECRET

 

For a secret: Jump into the water and swim to the NE corner, shoot another croc, swim under either N waterfalls and find holes in the ceiling to get out of the water, shoot a panther and get your price: SECRET #1: 2 X shotgun shells. Go back to the main lake. For another extra pickup swim straight ahead to the rocky structure in the middle of the lake in front of you (S), get out of the water in the lower ledge to your right and take standing jumps counterclockwise over the slopes to get shotgun shells and a small medipack. Jump into the water and climb the SW lake bank with the dead panther.

 

PATH TO ANOTHER AREA

 

Jump to the top of the nearby sandy mound and take a running jump E to the rocky pillar in the middle of the lake (try to grab the lower left side), pull up and take another running jump E to grab the edge of the opening in front of you (this time from the right side of the pillar), pull up and go around the corner to your right to get automatic pistols ammo; now jump into the water hole, locate the small medipack near the grate and continue swimming to a big pool room where a crocodile awaits.

 

SECOND SECRET

 

Quickly climb the S ledge to avoid the croc and shoot Larson to force him to escape, shoot the croc in the lake and for an extra pickup go S and W behind the pillars to get a large medipack. For a secret: go back to the lake and jump into the water, swim through the E passage and pull an UW lever at the end (it’s timed); quickly swim back to the main lake and climb again the S ledge, go right to the SE passage, up the steps, run off the edge to the right to land onto the slope, slide and jump with a left curve timing the swinging blade to land onto the timed trapdoor; quickly roll and take a running jump to the dark opening SE timing the blade again to get the SECRET #2: the MAGNUMS.

 

THE GOLDEN KEY

 

Now jump into the water and repeat the process again to reach the ledge with the timed trapdoor. This time go N and shoot the panther in the corridor, continue to the very W end where you’ll find a Sapphire Key (no name in the inventory) on the floor, hidden between the vegetation. No more to do here so go back to the lake, jump into the water and swim back to the first lake area the way you came through the opening in the NW corner. In the first lake area, jump into the water, swim and climb the SW lower ledge, turn right, run up the sandy ramp and use the key to open the golden door. You are now back in the previous pool room, but on the high ledges now.

 

GOING UP

 

Turn left and run up the wooden bridges to the ledge with the cat statue, now turn right, jump onto the small ledge with the greenery (beware of the low ceiling) and take a long running jump to the ledge with the grate above the entrance; continue clockwise, pick up the shotgun shells and the small medipack on the ledge with the plants, take a running jump to grab the edge of the next ledge, pull up, drop/grab the crack, shimmy right, drop/grab the crack below and when you can pull up use the slope in the corner to jump back and forth, grab the upper ledge, cross the bridge and save your game in front of the timed switch. Pull it, turn right and time a running jump to the next ledge trying to avoid the swinging blades (tricky), quickly pull up jump to the raised trapdoor (no grab) and run and jump to the safe ledge before the trapdoor opens. Continue clockwise if you want to pick up shotgun shells on the ledge with columns, go back and run past the pillars to a sandy area. When you hear the ominous music, draw a weapon and shoot a cat mummy; continue up the stairs, shoot a couple of panthers and find yourself in a huge outside area with a big lake.

 

OPENING A DOOR

 

Go right from the entrance and around the corner you can find shotgun shells; if you jump into the lake you can find more shotgun shells under the big central structure (attracting a croc too). If you swim E to the corner of the island you’ll find an UW opening partially covered with vines (right side), swim through and eventually you’ll find an UW lever, pull it to open a door somewhere (for later); swim back out to the lake and climb to the S side of the central island. Pick up the small medipack on the golden block (a panther should appear) and from here go a bit E and from the tile with the palm tree take a running jump over the slope to the flatter tile in the central structure, drop through the hole to get magnums ammo; a cat mummy is waiting outside when you go out.

 

THIRD SECRET

 

If you are interested on the next secret, from the golden block run E to the SE corner of the island with the palm tree and the tall pillar with the cat statue at its top. Next to the palm tree there is a slope; situate Lara in the very right side of it, take a standing jump and immediately (there’s another slope on the other side) jump again with a slightly right curve to land onto the higher slope to your right and quickly jump again to land onto the top of the pillar with the cat statue (a second panther should appear at this moment); a camera will show you the uzis floating in midair, so from the top of this pillar take a long running jump E to grab the invisible ledge where the guns are and get the SECRET #3: the UZIS. For an extra pickup, you can jump E to the area with the palm trees and get a small medipack in a recess.

 

FIRST SCARAB

 

Now it’s time to locate the door you opened with the UW lever (see the paragraph “opening a door”); go back to the entrance of this huge area and facing S in the right side look for shotgun shells, continue S and E to find the open door. Drop down and advance to find a room with several raised tiles; don’t try to walk over the sand or even jump onto any tile or you’ll see what happens… Instead, look to the ceiling and jump only onto the tiles with the sign above (the same sign behind the artifact at the other side of the room) to cross to the other side (the last one is in the very SE corner; note that the remaining ones don’t have the symbol above them) and pick up the first Scarab; the room collapses, but you can go back to the entrance the way you came, shoot Larson again and continue back to the outside area.

 

FOURTH SECRET

 

Time to look for a second scarab, so swim to the central island and go to the W side to find a wooden bridge. Cross it and to get the next secret, from the end of the bridge take a running jump N-NW with a right curve around the corner of the building to land onto a flatter part of the rocks, then another running jump N over the green wide slope and a last standing jump to the higher tile with the palm tree; finally drop into the next passage to get the SECRET #4: a large medipack, 2 X magnums ammo and uzi clips. Jump into the lake and for an extra pickup look for a nearby opening (W) with a small medipack under the corner of the building; back to the island and cross the bridge again.

 

THE SECOND SCARAB

 

Advance through the corridors until you reach a big room where two cat mummies await, shoot them and go through the SE opening, up the steps and to a high ledge overlooking the room. If you want an extra pickup, jump to the top of the pillars to your left to reach the high SE ledge with the magnums ammo and jump back to the first pillar. Continue jumping to the top of the next pillars to cross to the N side where the ledge with the switch is (note the keyhole in the W ledge); if you want the large medipack you spot on a ledge in the E wall, don’t touch the switch, but take a running jump to the SE pillar and to the ledge where the item is; go back to the ledge with the switch the same way as you did before. This time pull the switch to raise some pillars and lower another ones, jump to the top of those pillars until you reach the high ledge in the E wall with the Sapphire Key. Use the pillars again to go back to the ledge with the switch and pull it up to restore the initial positions; now jump from pillar to pillar to the ledge in the W wall and use the key to open the door below, safety drop to the floor, enter and get the second Scarab; go out, shoot Larson again and go back outside to the lake area.

 

FIFTH SECRET

 

This time go to the N side of the central island to find the receptacles for the scarabs; from here, if you go E a bit you’ll find a block with a large medipack and shotgun shells. Anyway use the scarabs to open the big trapdoors and safety drop through the big hole (facing S run off the edge). Slide backwards and grab the edge at the end of the slope; to get the next secret shimmy to the very left side, pull up and let Lara lands onto the N side of the slope below, slide and jump with a right curve to grab the edge of the small slope in the opposite rocky wall, drop/grab the crack below, shimmy right and drop on a sandy passage which will lead you to the SECRET #5: 2 X uzi clips and a large medipack. Go back and when you drop onto the ledge where the music is triggered, there’s a hole in a corner you can use to safety drop onto successive ledges to get to ground floor without damage (easy).

 

SPHINX CAVE

 

Explore the bottom of this cave to find a small medipack and magnums ammo in the N side and 2 X shotgun shells in the S side (this time inside rocky niches), triggering a panther and two cat mummies in both cases. Now from the left arm of the sphinx (facing W) take a running jump N to grab the edge of the rocky ledge with sandy top; pull up and for an extra pickup, see the slope in front of you and use it to jump back and forth grabbing the edge of the ledge above, get the shotgun shells and drop back down to the sandy ledge. From here take a running jump NE to grab the edge of the next block, pull up, grab the crack and shimmy left, pull up and take a running jump S to the back of the sphinx, shoot a cat mummy and note the UW lever in the wall (for later).

 

GOING UP TO THE TOP

 

Continue taking a running jump to the S rocky ledge, another running jump W to the next one, drop/grab the edge, shimmy left and pull up into a niche, from here take a standing jump N-NW to the next higher rock and up to the ledge above. The next door opens automatically, shoot the panther and go inside the small room to get uzi clips on the window sill. Go outside and climb the block to your left, wen you climb the next opening you’ll slide a long ramp so jump in last moment to grab the edge of the next ledge, pull up and take a running jump to the next flatter ledge, turn around and climb several blocks to find an upper sandy area.

 

THE SAPPHIRE KEY

 

Advance N and drop through the hole to land onto the head of the sphinx where a cat mummy awaits. In the E side of the head there are flatter parts so you can jump to the small cave E and get the Sapphire Key. Make your way to safety drop to the bottom of the big cave (easy) and go W in front of the big double gates, jump to the ledges in the N side and climb the niche with the golden door to use the key. Continue climbing blocks to find the room where you began this adventure a long time ago; climb the ledge in front of you and go to the niche with the wall switch, pull it to open the big double doors and flood the cave with the sphinx. To get an extra pickup take a running jump to the E ledge, turn left and run to the obstruction, drop/grab the edge and shimmy left until you can pull up; now take a standing jump to the next small ledge and a running jump SW to the ledge with the blue floor to get a large medipack. No much more to do here so jump into the water and swim E now that the big double gates are open, to the partially flooded room with the big sphinx.

 

SIXTH SECRET

 

To get the next secret swim to the NE corner of this room and when you find the palm tree turn right and swim a bit N, look up to the ceiling, look for an air hole and surface there to get the SECRET #6: shotgun shells and uzi clips. Jump into the water hole and return to the sphinx cave.

 

BACK TO THE BIG LAKE OUTSIDE AREA

 

Do you remember the UW lever you saw time ago when you were going up to the top of this cave when it was dry? (Read the last lines of the paragraph “sphinx cave”). Swim to the back side of the sphinx (E side) and locate that UW lever, pull it to open the double doors down below between the arms of the sphinx; swim there and follow the only possible path until you find an UW lever to open a golden door; continue (a croc is released) and in the watery shaft swim up and up until you can surface. Climb a couple of blocks and you’ll find yourself on a small area in a corner of the big outside area with the big lake and the central island. Shoot the panther and go S and E to get magnums ammo and a small medipack; roll and go E to the ledges of the blue building. When you find the pillar near the corner of the building, drop/grab the edge and shimmy right to the other side, pull up but don’t go through the wide opening yet, run E and around the corner to pull a switch lowering bridges so you don’t need to take the long way back here if you fall into the lake.

 

SEVENTH SECRET

 

For the last secret: from the tile where the switch is, take a hard running jump N-NW to the ledge where the cat statue is (no grab); drop into the trench to your left to get the SECRET #7: shotgun shells and magnums ammo. Now go back to the front of the blue building, to the big opening you avoided before.

 

THE ANKH

 

Drop down into one of the water holes and look for two UW levers to pull, one of them near the SE corner and the other one near the SW corner to open a door above (N wall). Get out of the water and shoot 4 cat mummies; go N to the open door and in the next room fight with Larson (this time he’ll die) and pick up the Ankh. An UW door opens in the previous room, so go back there, jump into the water and locate the opening near the NE corner; swim through to finish the level.
