LM, SM - large and small medipacks

RJ - runjump

UW - underwater

Level 1: GULCH

Slide down and follow the path into a cave. Take some Flares on the right. The cave leads to a large gulch. You’ll emerge on the high rocky ledge above the stream. First go to the left toward three ruined buildings. Turn left at the corner and RJ from the highest rock to land on the right-most broken arch of the ruin (West). RJ to the broken arch on the left, then again on the third broken arch, and pick up an SM. Drop to the broken floor below and walk toward the diagonal corner SE. Carefully run off from the diagonal corner to land on the block below. Then go to the middle of this broken floor and find a RUSTY KEY on the broken block.

Jump into water from here. If you want, you can search the bottom of the river now, to pick up some goodies. If you swim to the E, you’ll find some Hand Cannon Ammo under the natural rocks on the right and Automatic Pistols clip at the E end of the river. From there, face W and swim toward the ruins. Note a cave entrance on Lara’s left. A bit further, also on the left, there are some low rocks where you can climb out of water. Follow the rocky path to the W, toward the left-most ruin. RJ to grab the edge of the ruin, climb up and then drop through the opening on the blocks below, to pick up an LM. Finally, jump into water and swim to the N end of the river. On Lara’s left is a building with the roof, and on Lara’s right is a low rock where she can climb out of water.

Jump up to grab the rocky ledge above, and go uphill. Jump onto the rocks ahead, where you jumped onto the ruins earlier. Again, RJ to land on the arch of the ruins in the middle, as you did the first time. Drop to the lower floor. Save your game here. Turn N, toward the building with the roof and a window. Walk to the edge of the lowest floor, then hop back three times. You have to sprint jump to land on the broken floor of the building with the roof. Press Forward + Sprint, and then press Jump to perform the sprint jump.

Once you’ve landed on the floor of the building with the roof, note three different floor tiles here. Remember the position of these three tiles. Climb onto the block in the far end, and jump to grab the broken floor above Lara. Pull up into the room where you’ll find a keyhole for the Rusty Key, and a wall switch. The wall switch raises a block in the water outside, in case you need to go back to the ruins in the middle (to pick up the Rusty Key). Shoot to break two vases, so that they don't stand in your way. When you use the Rusty Key in the keyhole, one gate will open to Lara’s left, and you’ll be able to use the pushable pillar. Remember those three tiles on the lower floor? They show you where the pushable pillar must be pushed. One tile indicates the location of the trapdoor in the corner, and the other two indicate the location where you have to place the pushable pillar. So, push it into the SE corner, until you hear a click. Then push the same pillar onto the tile near the broken floor, where the other floor tile is. You’ll hear a click again, and the trapdoor in the corner will open. Climb through the open trapdoor and pull onto the roof. There you’ll find the SULTAN’S SIGIL.

NOTE: In the room with the pushable pillar, there’s also another gate that doesn’t open when you use the Rusty Key. Through the mesh of the gate, you can see some ammunition on the floor. You cannot open this gate and you cannot pick up this ammo. The level-builder placed it on purpose, as some kind of a joke, because classic TR games always had a medipack that could not be attained.

Drop from the roof into the water, and again climb onto the low rocks nearby. Follow the rocky path all the way back toward the entrance (East). Keep going to the other end of the rocky ledge, toward the rocky bridge in the E end of the gulch. You’ll see a passage in the mountain cliff on Lara’s left. Follow that passage to the city walls, where you can use the Sultan’s Sigil. A trapdoor nearby will open. Drop into the tunnel below and follow the passage to the next level.

Level 2: MAUSOLEUM GARDENS

Follow the cave passage to the end and jump into the opening on the left. Open the blue door and enter the gardens. Directly ahead you’ll see a large dry fountain and empty pool. We have to flood the pool in order to finish the level. First go into the NW corner of this garden with the fountain, and open the door. In a small room you’ll find Hand Cannon Ammo on the pedestal. Also, the carpet in this room can be dragged, so stand near its edge and press Action. Lara will pull the carpet and you’ll see number 2 written on the floor beneath the carpet. It’s a hint, it tells you that you need to use 2 liters of water on the scales nearby. Go back to the garden with the dry fountain and take the passage on the left (N).

Pick up the HAND CANNON from the pedestal in the gazebo. In the SE corner there’s another door you can open. In the small room, look up and locate a ceiling trapdoor. Jump up to grab it and open it. Climb up into the room above, and find BEKIR’S KEY. Go back to the garden with the gazebo and go to the right. In the NE corner you’ll find a door where you can use the Bekir’s key in the receptacle. Open the blue door in the passage and enter a small garden with wooden stairs. Open another door on the wooden platform, kill a snake and find an SM in the corner. Then sprint through the door and across the wooden platform, jump and grab the open window ahead. Drop through the open floor in the back room, find a SMALL JAR behind the bush, and be quick about it. Some beetles will appear in the grass, and Lara will lose her health if you’re not quick. Sprint/run back to the small garden with wooden stairs, and then back to the garden with the gazebo. Then go back to the garden with the dry fountain.

This time take the other passage (S) and enter a large courtyard. Go left and find a passage with stairs in the SE corner. Go up the stairs and enter the large balcony above the courtyard. Kill a snake here. Then jump across the red sofa and find Shotgun ammo behind it. Finally, enter the passage S, go left, and use the monkey swing to get to the balcony on the other side. Find a floor trapdoor which you can open and drop into the room with incense burners. A thick white fog reduces the visibility significantly here. You must destroy all hanging incense burners to clear the fog. The first incense burner is right there where you dropped into the room. Shoot to break it, then go left, turn left at the corner, and again, turn left to enter into a small room with another incense burner and a floor lever. Shoot to break this burner and use the lever to raise a block nearby. Go back into the larger room and go across the room, steering a bit to the right. There’s the third incense burner here, and the block you raised with the lever. Break the incense burner and use the raised block to get to the upper floor.

In the small rooms to the left and to the right you’ll find the last two incense burners. Shoot to break them both, and the fog will clear after a few seconds. Now you can look up and locate a red tile in the domed ceiling. Go back to the lower floor and find a pushable statue with a huge yellow crystal. Push/pull this statue to be exactly below the red tile in the ceiling. When it’s placed correctly, the trapdoor nearby will open. In the pit you’ll find LARGE JAR. Pick it up and go back to the small room where you dropped from above (where you destroyed the first incense burner). A door is now open here. Go through, and note an empty pool in the small backyard. There’s a secret in this pool, but you must first flood it. On the other side of the empty pool you’ll find a double door Lara can push open. Push open the second door and you’ll get back to the large courtyard. Directly ahead is an opening with water. Drop into the water and swim into the opening and through the tunnel all the way to the end, where you can surface and climb out of water.

In the shallow water you can fill your Jars with water. We need 2 liters of water, so, fill the Large Jar (you must go into Inventory, select the Large Jar and then Use, while Lara is standing in the shallow water). Then combine the Large Jar with the Small Jar, and you’ll have the Small Jar containing 3 liters of water, and the Large Jar containing 2 liters of water. Enter a small courtyard with a large wheel. Use the wall switch to open the large door near the wheel. In the room you’ll see Scales. Approach the left-hand side of the Scales, open Lara’s Inventory, select Large Jar with 2 liters of water, and Use it on the scales. NOTE: If you accidentally pour a different amount of water into the scales, Lara will be killed by spikes. Once you poured the correct amount of water (2 liters), the wheel outside the room will start turning, and the empty pool in the garden with the fountain will be flooded. Go back to the garden with the fountain (pick up Hand Cannon from the gazebo, if you haven’t already).

First go back into the large courtyard (S). Directly ahead is the double door you opened earlier. Go through that passage into the small backyard with a pool. The pool is now flooded. Jump into water and swim through a narrow passage to find SECRET #1: two boxes of Shotgun Shells. Go back to the large courtyard and then to the garden with the fountain.

Jump into the flooded pool beneath the fountain and swim through the tunnel into a passage where you can climb out of water. Use the wall switch here to open a door back in the garden with the gazebo. Swim back to the garden with the fountain, then go into the passage N, to the garden with the gazebo. Then go through the open door on the left into another area.

As you enter a large room with carpets and windows, a Boss Guardian will attack. There’s no need to conserve the Hand Cannon ammo, so use it in the fight against the boss. When you killed the boss, approach the large decorated door near the entrance and it will open for you. Find LASER SIGHT in the pool and proceed to the large courtyard with waterfall. In the pool at the entrance you’ll find another HAND CANNON (in case you didn’t pick up the one from the gazebo). There’s a wall lever to the left of this pool. Use it to raise a block nearby and open a timed door. As soon as you flip the switch, roll and run/jump toward the raised block. Jump onto it, then into the window. Don’t waste any time, but jump from one hanging plant to another, and from the last hanging plant, RJ to grab the vines on the other side of the room. Quickly climb up and into the opening, before the door closes. On the pedestal, you’ll find the first EVERLASTING GAZE. Get back to the large courtyard with the waterfall.

Flip the wall switch near the pool again, to raise the block. Again, climb into the window above the raising block. This time, there’s no need to hurry. In the window, turn to face the courtyard. In the Inventory, combine the Hand Cannon with the Laser sight and shoot the symbol with the crescent moon and the star high above the closed door. Drop into the courtyard and use the floor lever to the left of the waterfall. Enter the last courtyard with a huge yellow crystal. Behind the crystal you’ll find the second EVERLASTING GAZE on the pedestal. Once you have both Everlasting Gazes, you can go back to the room where you killed the boss. Two doors have opened there in the meantime. Enter the room with a huge painting of a Turkish nobleman. An inscription will appear on the screen, saying: “May this tomb keep my secrets. The betrayal of my people and faith. Earning riches and fame through lies. May the lives I saved redeem me. May Allah forgive my sins. And may my gaze keep these secrets.” To the left of the painting, in the corner behind a golden vase, you’ll find Hand Cannon ammo (crouch to pick it up). Then locate a statue of a lion above, and shoot to break the gem in the lion’s mouth. A trapdoor will open in the opposite corner.

Drop into the room with a sarcophagus. In the back room, you’ll see a light beam, a floor lever and a pushable mirror. Use the lever to lower one block. Then push/pull the mirror onto the lowered block. Use the lever again to raise that block, go to the mirror and push it onto the white block. Use the lever again, then push the mirror onto the second raised block. Again, use the lever to lower that block, and push the mirror onto the tile with the light beam. The sarcophagus will move aside, so drop through the opening in the floor to get back to the first level.

Back to Level 1: GULCH

Follow the cave tunnel to a waterfall. RJ to the ledge on the other side and find some flares there. Then drop into the small pool beneath the waterfall. Climb out of water and follow the cave tunnel back to the gulch. Jump into water, swim to the left and climb on the low rocks nearby. Follow the rocky ledge toward the ruined building. RJ with grab to climb onto the ruins (drop to the lower floor to get the LM if you haven’t already, then make your way back onto the ruin). Enter the cave on the left. Kill two soldiers who patrol inside the cave, and pick up Hand Cannon ammo and Automatic pistol clips they dropped.

Climb onto the low block, then RJ to grab the tall pillar ahead. RJ diagonally to grab the other pillar which is slightly to the left. Climb up, then jump to grab the ledge on Lara’s left. Pull up and use the wall switch to open the door below. Drop to the floor and go through the door you’ve just opened. Proceed carefully in the large cave with rocky ledges. As you enter the cave, go left, turn around and jump up to grab the ledge above. RJ from the other side of this ledge to land on the rocky ledge in the corner. Finally, RJ to land on a large rocky ledge with a passage. Place two Everlasting Gazes in the Eye receptacles to open the passage at the bottom of the cave. Make your way back to where you entered the cave. Drop onto a small rock below, then slide toward the huge opening in the floor and proceed to the next level.

Level 3: SUNKEN CITY

Follow the passage and go through some broken rooms, killing a few bats along the way. Lara will enter a huge cave with the ruins of the Sunken City. Watch the flyby and then walk forward, toward the cave. Keep close to the right-hand wall, and jump onto the natural rocks ahead, toward the roof above the columns. Jump to the roof above the columns, and find an SM on the other side. Make your way back toward the entrance and jump back onto the large rocky ledge where you entered the cave. There is a ruin with broken roof North. You have to sprint jump to land on the corner of that ruin. This sprint jump is tricky, so be careful and save your game before you try it. Drop onto the floor of the ruin and find SECRET #2: SHOTGUN. Jump from the floor onto the lowest broken wall of the ruin, follow it around counter-clockwise, and sprint jump to land on a small rocky ledge below the entrance. Kill a bat here, then drop to the rocky ledge below (walk to the edge and turn around, so that the cave is behind Lara’s back. Take one walking step forward, then hop back, and press Action, and Lara will land on the ledge below). From here, safely drop onto the roof below.

Go N to the narrow roof and onto the roof of the next building. Near the chimney, drop to hang from the roof and climb down the wooden ladder. Drop to grab the edge of the window and climb into the house. Kill a bat, then grab the bars in the ceiling on Lara’s left, and monkey swing into the next building. Kill another bat, then kill a knight in the next room. Use the wall lever to drop a trapdoor nearby. Before you leave, shoot to break a wooden chest in the corner to find the KEY TO THE PAST. Monkey swing back to the previous building, and climb through the open trapdoor in the ceiling into the room above (it could take a several tries until you manage to grab the edge of this opening). Push the double door open and you’ll be back at the large cave with the city. Jump onto the roof ahead and on the left, then drop from it near the lion statue. Carefully make your way downhill to a rock with a skeleton and Hand Cannon ammo. Make your way back to the wall with columns and open the door with the Key to the past. Inside the room you’ll see three receptacles. To the left and right there are two vases you can shoot. Inside you’ll find an SM and Shotgun Shells (crouch to pick up these goodies). Go back out into the cave.

Go right (to the East) to the other side of the cave. In the SE corner, between the supporting pillars, you’ll find Automatic Pistol clips. Then go N, toward a raised balcony with falconets. Sprint jump and press Action to grab the edge of the balcony, and climb up. Use the floor lever here to open a door nearby. Jump back onto the cave floor, then make your way back and up to the other lion statue (left-hand, when facing the wall with the pillars). Go between the lion statue and the building on the left, and turn left around the corner (SE corner of the cave). The door you’ve opened is right here. Climb into this room and find a pushable table in the corner. Pull that table once or twice, to reveal the Greek letters on the floor. It is the combination of the switches you’ll need later. Remember this combination. Then climb up onto the roof of this building and drop through the hole in the roof of the adjacent building. Kill a knight here, and push a large yellow vase aside. You’ll find an SM beneath it. Also, there’s another Greek letter combination on the floor of this room. Remember it as well.

Safety drop through the opening in the floor, kill a bat and find some Flares on the rocky floor. Look above and locate a small opening in the wall. Climb into this opening and follow it to a small storage, where you’ll find SECRET #3: Automatic Pistol clips and Flares. Drop into the room below, kill a knight and note the third Greek letter combination. Make sure to use the floor lever here, to open a trapdoor somewhere in the cave. Go into the room where you found the flares earlier and locate a climbable wall on the opposite side. Use it to go back up onto the roofs near the balcony with the falconets. Go to the other side of the cave (right-hand side when facing the wall with columns), and climb the ladder near the lion statue to reach the lower roof. Drop into the opening on the left, between two roofs. Kill one bat and find some Automatic Pistol clips near the skeleton. The trapdoor you’ve opened with that lever is in the corner. Climb through it into the room with five wall switches.

With these five switches you actually open three levels. The combinations for opening these three levels are those Greek letters you saw earlier. You can complete these three levels in any sequence you want. This walkthrough describes the most economic sequence, where we first visit the Archives, then the Dungeons, and then the Upper District. As you already know, we must find three items to use in that room behind the wall with columns. You’ll find one such item in each of these three levels. Also, when we finish each of these three levels, we’ll get back to the Sunken City (this level). NOTE: There’s a double door in the corner you can push open. It leads back to the main cave, and it’s a shortcut, so open it from this side to reduce backtracking later.

Level 4: ARCHIVES

Use levers #1 and #5 (from left to right) to open the topmost door and proceed to the level ARCHIVES.

Wade through the water and push open the double door. As you enter the large octagonal hall, note the broken pillar on the left. You’ll use it to reach the walkway above. There’s a skeleton you must avoid/outrun along the way. This octagonal room has three levels. For now, climb onto the broken pillar, and jump up to grab the walkway above. You cannot open the double door on Lara’s left from this side. Go to the center of the walkway and then go right. RJ to land into the Library.

LIBRARY: As you enter, take the left-hand passage between the book shelves. One knight will attack, so kill it. Then face the entrance to the library and look up. Locate a lion statue above the entrance and shoot the gem in lion’s mouth, to move aside the statue of Atlas on the other side of the library. To get there, follow the left-hand passage between the book shelves, starting from the entrance. Turn left at the corner, then turn right at the next corner, and go all the way to the end. Turn right between the shelves and drop into the room below the Atlas statue. You’ll find SECRET #4 here: Shotgun Shells and Automatic pistol ammo. Jump out of this room on the left and go left, all the way to the end of the passage between the book shelves. Turn right at the end and note a trapdoor above the ramp. Save your game here. Sprint beneath the trapdoor, to drop a boulder. The boulder will roll down the ramp and into the tunnel below. Follow it down the passage. The boulder will open a door for you, and you’ll be able to take COG #1 from the pedestal. Make your way back to the library and to the entrance, and kill another knight along the way. At the entrance to the library, RJ back onto the walkway in the octagonal room.

GREEK FIRE: Jump onto the broken pillar in the middle of the walkway, then RJ onto the rocky block ahead. From there, jump up to grab the high L-shaped walkway. You can visit the side room here if you want. You’ll notice that you need a Torch to burn the floor in this room. For now, RJ diagonally from the corner of the L-shaped walkway to grab the ladder on the broken pillar in the middle of the octagonal room. You’ll enter the room with huge vases with Greek fire. Enter the next room with huge vases and find Automatic pistol ammo behind the vase in the far left corner. Enter the third room with Greek fire and approach the pedestal. Save your game before you pick up COG #2 from the pedestal. As soon as you pick it up, the Greek fire will ignite and explode. You’ll have to get to safety before the huge vases explode. So, pick up the Cog, jump backwards with Roll and start sprinting/running up the stairs. Then turn left, and in the second room, turn right and sprint toward the ladder/entrance. Once the vases have exploded, climb back up into the room with Greek fire, and go to the last room with the pedestal. In this room you’ll now find SECRET #5: AUTOMATIC PISTOLS. Make your way back to the ladder, climb down and drop onto the walkway of the octagonal room.

CROWBAR: Now we must rotate the walkway to reach other side areas of this room. Drop to the floor, avoiding the skeleton. There are two double doors on the left and right, which Lara can push open. Push open the door E and enter the room with the statue of Athens. Behind the statue there’s an opening through which you can drop. A lever below the statue will rotate the statue and the walkway. Use it once and go back to the octagonal room. Go back there, jump onto the broken pillar and then up to grab the walkway. Pull up and go right toward the broken pillar in the center. Jump onto it, then RJ onto the rocky block. From this block, jump up to grab the balcony above. There are two passages here, leading to the upper level of the Library. Make your way across the book shelves to the balcony in the far right corner. On one pedestal you’ll find Shotgun Shells, and on the other you’ll find the SWORD (Crowbar). Make your way back to the balcony where you entered. Drop on the walkway below, and then on the floor.

TO THE DUNGEONS: This time, push open the double door W and use the second lever between the statue of Athens, to rotate the octagonal room. Go back to the octagonal room, run to the other side (E) and use the first lever again to rotate the walkway. Now, everything’s set up precisely as you need. Jump onto the broken pillar and jump up to grab the walkway. Use the broken pillar and the rock to climb up to the balcony as you did earlier. This time, sprint jump into the opening on the right. This passage leads to the Dungeons, and that level will load. NOTE: Make sure to take the Crowbar before you go to the Dungeons, to avoid backtracking.

Short visit to Level 5: DUNGEONS (from the Archives)

At the bottom of the wide ladder, take out the Hand Cannon with Laser sight, and shoot the padlock at the top of the ladder, to open the trapdoor. Now you can climb the ladder to the upper level. Go around the pillar and enter the large room with cages. Take the passage directly ahead (S) and turn left through the open gate. As soon as you enter the room with the pools of water, a fire wraith will start chasing Lara, so quickly jump into water to kill it. Find an UW lever in the water to open a trapdoor in the pool, and follow that passage to the room with moving logs, where you can climb out of water. Wait for the first log to move aside, jump from the shallow water onto that ledge and drop into the pit behind. Use Look button to see the second log. When it moves to the left, jump out of the pit diagonally to the right and run to the right, toward the wall switch. Use it to open the gate ahead, then face the moving log. When it moves away, run toward it, steer to the right and drop into the next pit. Use the Look button to see the third log. When it moves aside, jump out of the pit and run through the open door. You’ll get back to the room with the pools, where you entered. Just to the left of the open gate, there’s a HOOK on the wall, behind the broken pillar. Use the crowbar (Sword) to pry it off.

Back to the room with the cages, go right (E) and kill a giant scorpion. Behind the empty cage on the left you’ll find an LM. Enter the passage E and then turn right and enter a small cell with an empty cage. There’s a white sarcophagus here, so open it and find Automatic Pistol clip inside. Return to the passage, go right and enter the room with gallows. In the corner to the right of the gallows there’s another passage that leads to torturing chambers. In one chamber, in the sarcophagus, you’ll find a POLE, and in the other chamber, also in the sarcophagus, you’ll find an SM. Go back to the gallows, combine the HOOK with the POLE to get a SICKLE, and use the Sickle at the gallows to obtain a STRANGE KEY. Return to the main hall with the cages.

Go to the W side of the room and kill another giant scorpion that appears. Enter the passage W carefully. Save your game. RJ to grab the first block with the swinging chain and pull up on the left-hand side of the block. When the chain swings to the right, RJ diagonally to the right to land on the second block. When this swinging chain swings to the left, RJ diagonally to the left to land on the third block. From here, jump left or right to land on the ledge with a raised cage (you can also use standing jumps with Action, if you want, whichever is easier for you). To the right of the raised cage there’s a keyhole. Use the Strange key here to lower the cage. Pick up COG #3 and make your way back across the blocks with swinging chains into the main room.

Once you’ve taken the Cog, you can get back to the Archives, BUT make sure to take the Torch first, and to ignite it before you get back to the Archives. There are several torches in the main room with cages, at the bottom of large thick round pillars. Take one Torch, and ignite it in the passage S. Then go into the passage N, drop the torch through the opening in the floor, climb down the ladder, pick up the Torch and follow the passage back to the Archives.

Back to Level 4: ARCHIVES (from the Dungeons)

With the ignited Torch in Lara’s hand, sprint jump to land onto the balcony. Save your game and sprint jump into the opening in the wall on the opposite side of the balcony. Before you drop the torch to ignite the wooden floor, go into the corner, to the fireplace, and ignite the logs in the fireplace to raise a block on Lara’s right. Then go to the planks on the floor and THROW the torch onto the planks. Wait for the floor to burn and disappear. Then climb onto the raised block near the fireplace and jump to grab the balcony ahead. Find SECRET #6: Flares and SM. Then drop down, and then through the floor you’ve just destroyed. In the room below, kill a knight and take COG #4 from the pedestal. Push open the double door here and enter the octagonal room again. Drop to the floor and enter the passage S.

Place four cogs in the back of the room, avoiding the skeleton that harasses you along the way. Run out into the octagonal room, jump onto the broken pillar and climb up to the walkway above. This time, go S, push open the double door and save your game. Jump onto the pillar ahead avoiding the blades, then onto the pillar on the left and quickly into the left-hand passage. Jump onto the raising platform, then to grab the stairs. Follow the passage to an open door, but before you enter the room, save your game.

As you enter, the door closes behind Lara, and a wraith starts chasing her. You have to do a lot of things here before you can kill the wraith. So, good luck here. There are three chains in this room, and a pushable statue. As you enter, pull all three chains, and quickly run to the pushable statue. Push it forward toward the hammer as far as it goes. Then pull the third chain again, and push the statue to the last raised block. Once again, pull the third chain, and push the statue toward the hammer. Hop back to avoid the hammer which will break the statue. Pick up the SCHOLAR KEY. Quickly go back to the second chain, pull it to raise two blocks in the middle, jump on them, and from them, RJ to land onto the small balcony with a knight and keyhole. Use the key there to open the door. The wraith will finally disappear after you’ve used the key. Shoot to break the vase to the left of the keyhole to find an LM. Jump over the fence onto the floor, enter the small room that you’ve opened when you used the key, and find a COPPER PIECE on the pedestal. Make your way back to the room with the rotating blade.

Jump to the first pillar, then on the second, making sure that the blades don’t hurt Lara along the way. Jump into the passage ahead, and then onto the raising platform. When the platform is at the bottom, start running, and jump diagonally to the right to land into the passage. Follow it to a metal boulder. Push the boulder into the room below and again, save your game. You must time your jumps across three spike tiles, to lower a trapdoor below. Watch the cycle of the spikes. As soon as the third set of spikes pops out, jump onto the first ledge with spikes, immediately jump diagonally onto the second tile with spikes and instantly side flip to the right to land onto the third tile with spikes. Do not waste any millisecond here. As soon as you land onto the third tile with spikes, flip back to land onto the floor. A knight will attack, so kill him. Once he’s dead, drop into the pit through the open trapdoor and pick up a COPPER PIECE. Follow the passage to the end, slide backwards and drop into the octagonal room.

Run to the broken pillar, jump on it, then jump up to grab the walkway. Pull up and use the broken pillar and the rock to climb to the balcony once again. This time, enter the right-hand passage on the balcony. In the inventory, combine two Copper Pieces to get the MEMENTO OF PHILIPOS. At the end of the passage, there’s a door and a chain that hangs from the ceiling. At the end of this chain, you’ll see the same item as the Memento in your inventory. This is a hint, to let you know that the door will only open if Lara has this Memento of Philipos in her Inventory. Once you’ve combined two copper pieces, the door will open, and you will be able to leave the Archives and get back to the Sunken City.

Back to Level 3: SUNKEN CITY (from the Archives)

Cross the bridge toward the tall, thin tower ahead. Drop through the window on the left and climb down the ladder. Make your way back to the other side of the cave and to the room with five switches. Use switches #2 and #3 to open the Dungeons and go down the broken staircase to proceed to that level.

Level 5: DUNGEONS (from the Sunken City)

You probably already visited this level earlier, from the Archives. This time, you will visit the upper levels of the Dungeons. Whatever you do here, do NOT fall down to the ground level, because Lara won’t survive the fall.

To the left from the entrance, you’ll find a Torch on the pedestal. You can ignite it on the burners. You don’t have to do this, though, and you can proceed without the Torch. From the entrance, cross the bridge in the middle of the room and go right. Go down the stairs, re-enter the large room on the lower floor, and go right. On the other side of the room you’ll find a passage on Lara’s right.

ROOM WITH THE BURNERS: As you enter, jump onto the block to the left from the entrance, then onto a higher block next to it. Save your game here. Turn to face the room. Along the left-hand wall there’s a slope with some burners. RJ onto that slope facing uphill, when the nearest burner goes off. Slide backwards and grab the edge of the slope. Shimmy a bit to the right, and wait for the burner on Lara’s left to go off. Pull up, jump off of the slope and land inside the alcove with the second burner, which is off right now. Quickly grab the crevice on the left and shimmy to the left and around the corner, before the burner activates again. Shimmy toward the next burner. Wait for this burner to go off, then shimmy to the left, where you can pull up. Carefully approach the tile with a vertical burner, wait for the burner to go off, then pick up the Hand Cannon ammo and quickly hop back to the safe tile before the burner goes on again. Save your game here. You have to be very careful with this burner. As soon as the flame goes off, run toward the ladder, jump up and climb up, before the burner below is again active. Hopefully, the burner above the ladder will go off right in time. Turn around and jump up to grab the ledge with the raised cage. Pull up and go to the opposite edge of the ledge with the cage. Drop to hang on the edge, fall onto the slope below and grab its edge. Watch the burner below Lara. When it goes on, pull up, jump off of the slope and land into the alcove behind Lara. Hopefully, the burner in this alcove will be off. Quickly drop to hang on the edge of the alcove and observe the burner in the alcove. When it goes off again, pull up, quickly use the wall switch in the alcove to lower the cage, and drop down to the shallow water, before the burner in the alcove goes on again. You have to climb to the top of the structure again, as you did the first time. The cage is lowered now. When the burner at the top of the structure is off, quickly pick up the JAILER’S KEYRING and hop back to avoid the burner. Drop to the slope, hang on its edge and drop to the shallow water below. Return to the main room.

Go left and use the Jailer’s Keys in the keyhole on the other side. The cells on this level and on this side will open. A giant scorpion will attack, so kill it quickly. In one open cell you’ll find Hand Cannon ammo, and in the other you’ll find Shotgun Shells. Go back to the upper floor through the passage near the keyhole. On the upper floor, use the Jailer’s keys again in the keyhole to open the cells on this level and on this side. Search the cells you’ve just opened. In the second cell you’ll meet another giant scorpion. Kill it and take the Automatic Pistol clip from the floor. The first and the third cell on this side are empty. Cross the bridge to the other side and use the Jailer’s keys in the keyhole to the left. Search the cells on this side as well. In the first cell you’ll find some Flares. In the second, you’ll find Automatic Pistol clip behind the empty cage. Finally, get to the lower level on this side, by going through the passage to the right of the keyhole. At the bottom of the stairs, near an empty barrel, you’ll find SM. Use the Jailer’s keys in the keyhole here as well, and search the cells. In the first you’ll meet another giant scorpion. In the third cell you’ll find an SM. Finally, enter the second cell and save your game before you drop through the opening in the floor.

GIANT SKULL: Prepare the Hand Cannon with the Laser sight. You’ll need at least two bullets for the next enemy. As soon as you drop into this room, run to the right and into the alcove with a ladder. A giant Skull Boss will try to kill Lara with its laser eyes. Take cover in the alcove, keeping as close as possible to the wall on Lara’s left (if Lara is facing the Skull Boss). Walk toward the room step by step and use the Look button and Laser Sight to aim at the eyes of the Skull. You must shoot and destroy both eyes of the Skull Boss to destroy it. If you are low on the Hand Cannon ammo, you can run out of the alcove to the left, to pick up more bullets for your weapon, and then run/sprint back into the alcove, before the Skull Boss kills Lara. Remember, Lara will die instantly if only one laser beam hits her. Once the Skull is destroyed, jump onto the platform where it stood and pick up MEMENTO OF BASILEOS. From the platform, RJ to grab the edge of the walkway, pull up, and go into the alcove with the ladder. Climb up the ladder and get back to the main room. If you didn’t pick up the SM earlier here, do it now. Go up the stairs to the upper level.

MORE CELLS: Cross the bridge and go right. Enter the passage near the keyhole. The door directly ahead is now open. Go through and drop into the hole. Slide down and kill a giant scorpion that attacks here. If you have the torch with you, drop it and leave it. You cannot bring it with you any further. Use the closed gate as the ladder to climb up into the passage. At the T-intersection, go right. I hope you have already visited the Archives and you have the Sword (crowbar) already. Open the door on the right, enter the cell, pull the cage toward the door, go around it and use the Sword to open the door behind the cage. Behind the door you’ll find SECRET #7: Shotgun. NOTE: If you haven’t visited the Archives yet and you don’t have the Crowbar (Sword), you won’t be able to get this secret. Once you’ve finished this level, you won’t be able to return to it. If you want to collect all the secrets, the only solution is to load a save from the Sunken City level, and to visit the Archives first, and then the Dungeons.

Then open the other door and go down the stairs. Kill a giant scorpion and follow the passage to another intersection. You can open the cell on Lara’s left with the Jailer’s keys, but it’s empty. At the end of this passage go down the stairs on the left and save your game before you jump into the water. The strong current will pull Lara toward the blades. So, jump into water, swim with the current and keep as close as possible to the right-hand wall. Hold the Right button and quickly turn right into the alcove with an UW lever. Pull the lever to open the gate behind Lara. You can save the game here as well if you want. Swim out of the alcove and swim hard to the left, against the current. Enter the flooded room on the right, where you opened the door. Pick up the STRANGE KEY. Swim out, fight the current and climb out of water in the passage ahead. Go up the stairs to the intersection.

Turn left here and note one closed door on Lara’s right. Go left here to another T-intersection. There’s another closed door in the passage to the right. So, follow the passage ahead and open a cell with the Jailer’s keys. This cell isn’t empty. Take one Torch in this cell. Exit the cell and go right, toward the intersection. Take the passage on the right, follow it to the end, then go left past the huge barrel and up the stairs. Once you went through the door, go right, drop the torch, open the door (which is on the right-hand wall), and go through. Use the Strange key in the keyhole to the left to raise some trapdoors and deactivate the waterfall. Go out to pick up the Torch again, and drop to the lower floor near the keyhole. RJ across the pit toward the flame, ignite the torch there, and pick up Hand Cannon ammo behind the cage. RJ to the other side of the pit, enter the passage and ignite the wall torch on the left. In the flyby scene you’ll see several torches in the hallways ignite. You don’t need the torch anymore, so you can drop it. Go through the door that opened on Lara’s right (when facing the wall torch) and kill one giant scorpion that attacks from the left.

Go back to the hallway with the cell where you found the torch. This time go to the end of this hallway and through the open door on the left. There’s a triangular hole in the floor behind the door. Drop into the tunnel below, find some Hand Cannon ammo near the skeleton on the left, and use the Laser Sight to shoot the padlock through a small opening in the wall on the right. Climb back up and exit this cell. Go right, at the T-intersection turn left and drop through the hole in the floor. Slide down to the Sunken City.

Back to Level 3: SUNKEN CITY (from the Dungeons)

Use the wall switch to lower a trapdoor above the ladder and climb the ladder. Go up the stairs and you’ll emerge in the small room you visited before. Exit through the double door on the right. Hopefully, you have already opened the double door in the room with five switches. If you have, then go directly into the room with five switches (dead ahead). If you haven’t, then jump onto the low roof on the left and drop into the room between two roofs. Climb through the trapdoor in the corner to get back to the room with five switches. Use switches #1, #2 and #4 to open the Upper District, go down the broken staircase and go through the open door.

Level 6: UPPER DISTRICT

THE BRIDGE: Follow the cave tunnel to a large cave with more ruined buildings. To reduce backtracking, first go left when you enter the cave. Carefully jump across several natural rocks until you can jump onto the large damaged bridge. Make sure to trigger and kill one bird before you proceed. If you don’t kill it now, it will harass you during a timed run later. Note the large wooden gate on the left (W). Remember this gate. When facing this gate, go left to the other side of the bridge and find a broken fence on Lara’s right. Jump down from the bridge onto the natural rocks below. Turn around to face the entrance and the bridge above, RJ to the natural rocks on the other side and find some Shotgun Shells there. RJ back to the rocks where you dropped from the bridge. Carefully make your way across these rocks to the right (some of the rocks are too steep, so be careful). Jump onto the ledge with the switch, and save your game. A trapdoor will be raised for a few seconds, so you have to get there in time. Jump back onto the natural rocks and run toward the SW corner, jumping across the steep rocks along the way. Then jump onto the higher rocks in the SW corner, and RJ toward the bridge, to land on the supporting pillar of the bridge, near the broken fence. Jump from here onto the bridge and sprint to the left (N). Don’t waste any time. Hopefully, you’ve already killed the bird. RJ to grab the ledge under the large gate W with some Greek pillars, pull up quickly, and run diagonally to the right. Jump onto the nearest broken pillar to the right of the large closed gate, then RJ onto the taller pillar ahead (don’t grab, just land onto this pillar). Keep running and steering Lara to the right. Jump to land on the ledge on the wall of the large building. Roll, run, steer to the right and jump to land on the trapdoor (still raised, hopefully). From the trapdoor, quickly jump to grab the horizontal pole before the trapdoor drops. Swing around the pole, jump off of it and land on the ledge ahead. Jump up to grab the bars above and monkey swing to the other side. Drop, turn around, jump up and climb onto the ledge above the monkey bars. From here, RJ onto the ledge with a large button in the shape of a lion with a ring in its nose. One large wooden gate will open elsewhere.

THE TEMPLE: From the ledge with the lion switch, RJ to land into the window of the large building. Kill a bird that attacks here. In the alcove on the left-hand side of the temple you’ll find Automatic Pistol ammo. Note a button with Alpha Omega and Chi-Rho symbol between two alcoves. Climb onto the ledge above this symbol and note three raising blocks here. RJ diagonally to land into the arched walkway on the left or on the right, which goes all the way around the temple. You’ll find a switch on the other side, but don’t use it now. Instead, climb onto the low block near the switch, and then jump up to grab the upper floor. Pull up into the room above. Note three raising blocks here, and three receptacles on the wall. Use the broken wall on this floor to climb to the roof of the temple. Three hydras will appear on three pillars here, so kill them as quickly as you can. Avoid their fiery breath by jumping around and side/back flips. Remember, a hydra is only vulnerable if a ball of fire surrounds its mouth. When you killed them all, use the broken wall around the roof to climb on all three pillars with dead hydras. You’ll find three SIGILS OF THE HOLY TRINITY. Then drop back into the building and place these three Sigils in three receptacles on the upper Temple floor. Three blocks will lower. That’s all we can do at the Temple for now. We’ll get back to the Temple later. Once you placed these three sigils, drop down to the lower floor and go into the window in the SE corner. RJ from this window diagonally to the left and grab the edge of the ruined building there.

THE SACRED BULL: The big wooden gate you’ve opened with the lion switch is on Lara’s left. There’s another Alpha Omega and Chi-Rho button on Lara’s right. Go out onto the bridge on Lara’s left (through the large open gate), and kill another bird. A bull is sleeping on the other end of this bridge. Approach it to wake it up, then run back into the ruin and stand against the Chi-Rho button. The bull must hit this button, so wait for it to come near. Side flip when it gets close, and the bull will hit the button. You’ll see some horizontal poles go out of the wall on the other side of the cave (E). Use the broken pillar to the left of the Chi-Rho button to climb onto the roof of the ruin. Use two broken pillars to get back to the natural rock ledge near the cave entrance (RJ onto the first pillar, then RJ onto the second, and finally, RJ to grab the edge of the rocky ledge near the cave entrance).

Turn to face SE and carefully jump across the steep rocks. Then jump onto the triangular rocky ledge E. From here, RJ to land onto the broken pillar NE. From there, RJ to grab the edge of another ruin with arches. Kill another bird, and find Automatic Pistol ammo in one window. Then RJ through one window onto the broken pillar S/SW (to the left of the very tall pillar with the circular blade). From here, jump onto the slope on the right (below the circular blade), slide and jump to grab a taller pillar near the cave wall. Climb onto the rocks above, then again onto the rocky ledge. Walk to the left and RJ onto a flat rocky ledge in the corner of the cave (SE). RJ again onto the next rocky ledge, and save your game here. The next jump is a bit tricky. RJ with no grab, to land on the rocky ledge N, in front of two horizontal poles and the wall with windows. Jump across some steep rocks and walk to the protruding triangular corner of the rocky ledge, which is the closest to the horizontal poles. RJ from here to grab the first pole, swing around and jump off to grab the second pole. Swing around and jump off to land on another rocky ledge ahead. Jump to clear some steep rocks on the right and reach the flat rock above. From here you can RJ and grab the window of the building where the bull slept before you woke it up. Another bird will attack, so kill it and pick up Hand Cannon bullets from one of the windows. Use the lever to open the wooden gate to the Temple ahead. Before you drop down to the bridge, take the last secret first. Drop through the window on the right (when facing the lever and the Temple) and drop to grab the broken pillar below. Pull up and find SECRET #8: LM and Shotgun Shells. Then drop onto the floor where the bull had slept. Run into the Temple through the open gate and stand in front of the Chi-Rho symbol. Wait for the bull to come near, side flip and let the bull break the symbol. This will lower three blocks in the Temple, on the upper level.

MEMENTO OF THEODOROS: Climb up to the ledge above the button. Now the blocks are lowered, and you can push/pull three tall wooden blocks onto black floor tiles nearby (these black tiles are actually tall raising blocks which are raised with the aid of the switch in the arched walkway above the Temple entrance. If you used that switch, these blocks will be raised. In this case, go back to the switch and lower these three tall blocks). Then jump diagonally onto the walkway and go to the switch above the Temple entrance. Use it to raise three tall blocks and bring three wooden pushblocks to the upper floor. Climb to the upper floor through the opening in the ceiling above the switch. You have to push/pull these three wooden blocks into the windows. When you do this, at the grave of the saint you’ll find the MEMENTO OF THEODOROS Take it, drop to the lower floor, RJ through the window SE to grab the edge of the ruin, and make your way back to the cave entrance, as you did earlier. Go back to the bridge on the E side of the cave, where you did the timed run earlier. RJ to grab the ledge with the Greek pillars and the large wooden gate N, which is now wide open. Go through and you’ll get back to the Sunken City.

Back to Level 3: SUNKEN CITY (from the Upper District)

When you get back to the Sunken city, pick up the Flares at the end of the broken bridge. Climb onto the roof on Lara’s left and make your way to the door between two lion statues. Use the Key to the Past to open the door if you haven’t already. Shoot to break two vases to the left and right if you haven’t already, and pick up the goodies (at this point, you don’t need them, and you should have picked them up earlier). Go up the stairs and place three Mementos into three receptacles. The room will change its geometry and Lara will be teleported to the next level.

Level 7: MEMORIES

When this short level loads, enter the passage to the left and hear the story of Basileos (Memory of Basileos). Then go up the stairs toward the closed doors. The doors will open. Go through and drop through the hole to the lower floor. Enter the library and hear the Memory of Philipos. Finally, enter the passage between the book shelves, drop to the lower floor, and enter the passage on the left to hear the Memory of Theodoros. Finally, go to the other end of the passage to return to the Sunken City.

Back to Level 3: SUNKEN CITY (after Memories)

Go forward and enter the hole below the stairs with three receptacles. Slide onto the looooong staircase. Go down the stairs for some time, until you notice that the room has flipped. Then turn around and start running up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, be careful not to slide into the deep pit. Shoot the cross at the other side of the pit. Then turn around and go down the stairs again. After a while, you’ll enter the Chapel.

THE FIRST CHAPEL: Be careful not to fall into the deep pit ahead. When you enter, go left and climb to the ledge above the entrance. Use the floor lever here to open the big wooden gate on the other side of the room. Drop down to the ledge near the entrance and carefully jump onto the nearest triangular pillar on the right-hand side of the room. RJ diagonally to land on the other triangular pillar. Then jump into the passage beyond the open gate. Follow the gloomy tunnel to the first painting. Then go right toward the second painting. The third painting is just to the left. Take the passage to the right and approach the empty tomb. To the left, a barrier is blocking the passage. Therefore, enter the room to the right. You’ll hear the spirit of the skeleton speaking. The barrier to the left of the tomb is gone now. Go through to end the level.
