Run forward toward the sunlight. An onscreen message informs you that the PLS (which lights up the entire surrounding area) can be used in lieu of flares. Even better, its energy source appears to be unlimited. Go around and jump over two pits, and you'll come to an area guarded by huge darts (arrows, really) that you can crawl under. Go around a third pit and turn the corner toward an open area and Lara will look up to her left. Ignore that for now and continue E toward a wooden structure housing a boulder.

 

Hop up the hill beside the boulder and swan dive over the railing into the structure. Push the boulder so that it rolls down onto the frozen pond, and its weight will soon cause the ice to shatter. Get down, stand at the SW corner of the pond, activate the PLS, hop back into the ice-cold water and quickly pull the underwater lever, turn to your right and pull out N. Go to the NE corner where a door has opened and hop up into the N opening for SECRET #1. Grab the large medipack inside the room and return W to that opening Lara was looking at earlier.

 

Pull up N and make your way into the higher cave, awakening a swarm of bats. Beware of the icicles hanging from the ceiling and head NW toward two snow-covered boulders. Just to the right of them is a crawl space. Get inside a small passage, stand left, pull up N (up arrow and action keys only) for SECRET #2 and shoot another bat. Your reward this time is a small medipack. Return to the cave and loop around left through the N tunnel to an area bearing signs of civilization.

 

Go through the W opening to a fixed camera and continue down to an area with three cages and a central column. Pull the chains next to the N and S cages one time each to raise them, then climb the ladder in the column until Lara's hands are just above the wider rung. Take a rolling back flip to grab the cage, shimmy left, pull up and quickly take a running jump with a left curve to grab the N ledge before Lara's weight causes the cage to drop. Pull up, go around and jump to the SW ledge. Drop from the S end and pull the chain to raise the third cage.

 

Save your game, face SE, stand jump onto the nearest cage and continue in one fluid motion with a running jump to the next cage, followed by another running jump veering right so that you can grab the opening in the S wall. Pull up in front of a wall switch that opens trap doors near the base of the central column. Safety drop to the ground and go to the lowered trap doors. Hop down and go down the steps to another wall switch that opens the door to the next area.

 

Shoot a bat and go up to the ceiling hole at the SW corner, staying close to the wall to avoid the triggered icicles. Pull up near a torch-lit opening and proceed through the passage to an open area where two wolves prowl below. You can run counterclockwise along the ledge to the bridge spanning the area and at least weaken the wolves from up there with pistol fire before hopping down to finish them off. Go to the SE corner for a large medipack, then head over to the N side of the room where you'll find a wall switch. Pull it down to lift a cage door and release two more wolves.

 

Dispense with the wolves, then pull the switch back up and dash W past the lifted gate before it slams shut. Save your game in front of another timed wall switch inside, pull it down to lift both the exit gate and another gate elsewhere, exit and run E toward the bridge, veering right a bit so you bump against the ramp just to the left of its highest level (so you won't waste valuable time finding the right jumping spot). Jump up to grab the side of the bridge, pull up and turn night. Run S past the timed gate to another wall switch (not timed) that opens the exit gate and lifts a stone door up in the NW corner.

 

Two more wolves are also awakened, so deal with them, go across the bridge and follow the ledge to the opened door. Enter the next area, turn right and safety drop from the ledge with the broken bridges to awaken a bear down below. After dealing with him, go W underneath the hanging greenery for a small medipack and push the floor lever to open a door somewhere. Locate the pushblock near the SE corner and push it two times into the next room. Shoot a bat, enter and turn left to find a trigger tile that opens the E door for only about a second. Grab the nearby small medipack, step on the trigger tile facing E and simply run forward past the opened door.

 

You're back in the large area with the bridge. Pull up onto the bridge as you did earlier and go around to the opening in the NW corner. In the room with the broken bridges, jump across N to the other side this time and come to stairs leading down to a large area patrolled by five wolves. You may be able to deal with them more efficiently by simply waiting for them to approach (they come at you two at a time, followed by the last one). When all is quiet, loop around right at the bottom of the stairs and pull down the wall switch to lift a gate in front of a cage.

 

Go back up the steps and past a pushable cage surrounded by trigger tiles, pull down the N wall switch to open a door down below and go to the E side of the ledge. Jump to the ledge jutting from the wall and continue with a running jump to grab the E wall. Pull up and go to the SW corner of the sunken area to find a TORCH hidden in the fern. Light it on one of the nearby wall torches and throw it down to the floor. Drop down after it, pick it up and go back up the stairs. Jump back E to the jutting ledge and light the wall torch there to open the adjacent door.

 

Go inside for SECRET #3 and leave the torch here after picking up the large medipack. Drop from the jutting ledge down to the floor, enter the N opening and look left in the fern at the corner for another large medipack. Exit and turn right to the W door you opened earlier. Step inside and look up to see the trigger tiles surrounding the cage upstairs. Pull the pushpiece once as a support to keep those tiles overhead from sinking when you stand on them, go upstairs and move the cage E. Push it over the ledge, drop down after it and push it two times S onto the marked tile.

 

A block rises on the other side of the room, so go there and use the block to pull down the S wall switch and lift another gate somewhere. Hop down and go E between the walls to see openings at the SW and SE corners. First go to the SW opening to flush out a wolf, enter the small room and walk carefully between the skull sticks to take the PERUVIAN MASK from the plinth. Then go to the other opening and pull the cage you find there to the N end of the trench. Get up on it, pull up to the ledge with the wall torches and insert the Peruvian Mask in the receptacle to the left of the double doors (which don't open, which means that something else is needed).

 

Get back down to the cage, move it two times S, get up on it and stand jump to grab the ledge. Pull up and save your game in front of the timed wall switch. When you pull it down (it wouldn't have worked if you'd tried to pull it down before inserting the Peruvian Mask) it opens the double doors for 13 seconds. Turn left, hop back once, stand jump down to the cage, take a running jump N to grab the ledge, pull up and run forward while turning right to get past the timed double doors.

 

Go up the winding steps past a dart trap to an upper area and shoot the wolf waiting to pounce on you from over your left shoulder. Stand on the S edge of the S breaktile (the N one has a spike trap underneath) and allow Lara to fall through onto a snow-covered ramp. Go through the S opening and pull down the wall switch in the SW corner to lift a timed gate across the nearby chasm. Reverse roll, start running E, take a running jump to grab the swingpole, swing around, jump off and run forward before the gate slams shut.

 

Shoot the wolf that greets you, go where he came from into the NE passage and pull down the wall switch to your left. Yes, it's timed as well, so reverse roll and run back the way you came, looping around right past the timed gate before it closes. There's not much you can do about those health-sapping skull sticks just beyond the gate, unless you got there in time to start walking before reaching them. Hop N over the slope onto the ledge and step forward into the alcove to pull down another wall switch (not timed).

 

Go back a few steps onto the ledge, face W and jump up to grab the monkey bars. Monkey swing across the chasm, enjoying Lara's new animation not seen until recently, using the up arrow key until you're nearly across, then switching to the down arrow key for a short spell before dropping down in front of a final wall switch. Pull it down to hear the sound of the exit doors opening, slide down to the chasm floor and go N past the opened double doors. Proceed toward the closed doors ahead to finish the level.
