KITTEN ADVENTURE: A VERY MEOW CHRISTMAS

Level by Delca

Walkthrough by Phil Lambeth. You can choose to play in any one of three modes: Standard, Expert or Crystical (which involves the use of limited save crystals). A number of video walks covering all three modes have been posted on YouTube. This walkthrough will document play in Expert Mode (except for Challenge 7 near the end, which I could never conquer and thereby finish the level).

After the enchanting opening flyby, begin inside a cabin and look around a bit downstairs if you like (upstairs is off limits). Exit for a brief conversation with your kittie friend and collect your first floating paw (1 of 70). Turn around, make a circuit around the cabin and collect 8 more paws (9). Go to the W end of the frozen stream, stand jump to collect one paw and back flip onto the ramp and jump off to collect another (11). Crawl under the bridge for another paw (12) and head toward the dark S opening where you see a row of apparent paws stretched across the entrance. However, they only transport you a few steps into the Cavern of Mysteries.

Proceed to an open area and run forward to collect 3 more paws (15). Approach the semi-circle of Christmas presents for a series of separate challenges and begin with the one on the far left (although the order does not seem to be important). Successful completion of each challenge will add a PRESENT to your inventory.

Challenge 1

Open it for instructions on what next to do:"Recolor the floor tiles according to the number displayed on the TV screen. Several rounds." You'll then be taken to an enclosed game board consisting of 64 red and green squares. Stepping on a green tile changes it to red, and vice versa. The number 12 is displayed on the screen in green letters and you can see four paws bobbing near the center of the board. I first collected the paws (19) and then ran at random across the game board until only 12 green tiles remained. "Round 2" appeared on my screen and the number on the TV changed from 12 to 60 in red letters.

I then started eliminating the green squares until only four were left, and "Round 3" appeared on my screen. The TV then showed ALL in green letters, so I dutifully ran across the board changing those 60 tiles from red to green. I was then taken back to the Cavern of Mysteries. The present you first opened has disappeared, so open the blue one on the far left.

Challenge 2

Your instructions are to "survive the falling snowballs and don't fall off the platform. You can't grab ledges." When camera control is restored you find yourself standing on the middle of three slopes with activated boulders rolling perpetually down toward you from each one. Quickly hop back, side flip right and then two times back left for the easiest paws (21) in this section. You might want to save here in a separate slot. You now need to make your way forward and time standing jumps up each of the three slopes for the remaining paws (24), side flipping away as necessary to evade the relentless boulders. Continue in like manner until the onslaught eventually ceases and you're treated to another round of the same exercise.

Part of the middle slope has vanished, so quickly run forward to collect the first paw, side flip left twice for the next two, reverse roll and run to collect the last one (28) while rolling again. Return to the base of the slope, where it's relatively easy to side flip from slope to slope until the boulder flow ceases.

Challenge 3

Back in the Cavern of Mysteries, open the next present for your marching orders: "Jump through 10 rings within the time limit! Each time you get a ring, the timer is delayed." Save your game as soon as camera control is restored, and you may wish to save more than once as you progress through this area. Note that the rings are rotating, so you'll need to jump through them at the proper moment for them to be counted. On the other hand, there are more than 10 rings, allowing you a little room for error. If time runs out before you've jumped through 10 rings, you'll have to resume from your last savegame (so use different slots). Note that there's a paw at each corner and four on the central block, for a total of 8.

Side flip left, collect the first paw and stand jump to the suspended platform and again through the first ring. Continue with jumps to the SW corner, collect the next paw and turn right. Jump to the platform with ring 2, continue to the NW corner for another paw, hop back and save here. Turn right and jump from the corner through ring 3 to the small platform to your left (it may take a couple of tries). Turn a bit right and jump E to the large platform, run and jump through ring 4 on your way to the NE corner for the next paw. Now you have all four corner paws (32).

From the corner of this platform jump SE through ring 5 to the small platform, hop S to the large platform, turn right and stand jump W to land on this side of the small platform. Without stopping, continue with a running jump to grab the central block and pull up. Run through ring 6, collect 4 paws (36) and save again.

There's a ring on each side of this central block, so repeat the following sequence for each of the four remaining rings. Take a running jump from the edge of the block through the ring to the platform below. Reverse roll upon landing, stand jump to the small platform and continue with a running jump to grab the central column. Pull up and repeat until you've acquired the tenth ring. With a little practice this challenge should not prove too difficult to conquer.

Challenge 4

Run forward, open the next present and read the instructions: "Ride the pink unicorn and avoid the obstacles to reach the finish line!" Mount the steed and follow the path, collecting 4 paws (40) along the way. As you skirt a floor hole, mount a slope and approach the next paw (41), continue with speed to clear the gap at the bottom of the slope. Continue up the next slope, collecting 2 more paws before jumping another gap, and gather up 3 more paws (46) just before you reach a dead end. Turn left or right there (it doesn't matter), jump another slope with speed and you'll be transported into a tunnel. Continue forward, avoiding the floor holes and clearing one more gap, until you reach the finish line.

Challenge 5

Open the next present for these encouraging words: "Navigate the spinning obstacles and reach the finish line!" Easier said than done, I'm sure. You're facing a gauntlet of spinning logs that won't kill you if they should touch you, but they'll push you over the edge to your death. Start from the left corner. Time the logs and take two standing jumps, hop back, stand jump forward to collect the paw, take another standing jump and continue with a running jump to collect the next paw, hop back and grab the edge, pull up and take three standing jumps in succession to land safely on the central platform.

Collect two paws (50), turn around and go back the other way along the other side, starting at the left corner as before. Take two standing jumps, hop back and grab the edge, shimmy left around the corner and pull up near the next corner where you'll be safe. Collect the paw, face S and take two standing jumps to the next paw (52). Hop back, grab the edge and shimmy right around the corner. Continue to the next corner, pull up and side flip right onto the beginning platform.

Make your way past the spinning logs again, taking the left or right path as you prefer, and save when you reach the central platform. The rainbow bridge ahead cycles from left to right every second or so, so familiarize yourself with the sequence before venturing forth with periodic jumps to your right until you reach the next platform (not too difficult). Collect another paw, stand left and save again. Your next task is to make it past the next spinning log gauntlet, collecting seven more paws along the way to bring your total to 59. Remember that you can hang from the platforms, and while on the platforms you can duck in some places to avoid being pushed off by the log. I found it easier to start standing right instead of left, and I saved frequently along the way.

When you reach the last ledge from the finish line, you can stand in the center where the logs won't touch you. It's fairly easy from here to run forward and grab the last two paws (59) on either side, then taking a quick hop back. Then take a running jump N onto the checkered tiles to finish this grueling exercise.

Challenge 6

Two presents left. Open the green one to trigger a five-round exercise where you run over all breaktiles in a playing field while collecting additional paws in the process. It's not necessary that you activate all breaktiles in a given round in one go, and indeed it may not be possible to do so. When you step on the last breaktile the round ends.

Round 1: Take a standing jump onto one of the nearest tiles, then jump to the central tiles and loop around to jump to the other tile nearest the starting ledge. From there jump S to the ledge. Go around to the E or W side, take a standing jump toward the "run over the tiles" sign and follow with curved jumps over those four tiles while collecting two paws (61). You should be able to reach the penultimate tile with a running jump, followed by a jump to the ledge. Then go around to jump onto the last remaining tile.

Round 2: These breaktiles are arranged in a symmetrical square pattern, and there are no paws. The most logical sequence is to first take out all but one of the outer breaktiles,  then loop around the central tiles before jumping onto the final outer tile.

Round 3: This one is the easiest so far if you do it in segments. I suggest a running jump from the side of your choice to collect a paw and continue along the tiles to the other side, repeat from that side to collect the other paw (63), then take your time dealing with the remaining tiles.

Round 4: Another easy round. The tiles here are arranged in four horseshoe patterns. Stand jump to one end, run around onto the other tiles and jump back to the same ledge you started from. Repeat until done, but be sure to grab the two paws (65) before navigating the final horseshoe.

Round 5: There are more tiles in this one, but they're arranged in a symmetrical pattern as in Round 2. There's no one right way to do it, but be sure to collect the single paw (66) before you leave.

Challenge 7

Open the last present for your final challenge, which is undoubtedly the most difficult of the bunch: "Avoid the moving walls and don't fall off the platform! You can't grab ledges." I could never beat it after numerous attempts, so the remainder of this walkthrough is documented in Standard Mode. If you like, you can refer to the videos provided by <url=https://youtu.be/tMN-riAkasw?t=1978>Doggett TV</url> and by <url=https://youtu.be/0IXulU81TmU?t=1003>Steven3517</url> to see how it's supposed to be done in Expert Mode.

A fixed camera doesn't make the task any easier for you. You have a few seconds before the ice walls start appearing from ahead. Remember that you can duck beneath the ones marked with a "v" design and you can jump against and over the walls with a "^" design.

Round 1: Run forward a bit to your left as the first wall approaches and stand in the gap between the two sections. Duck as the second wall passes, run around the small third wall to the gap in the next wall. Run around the next small wall and climb over the next wall. Go to the gap in the next wall and when it passes, duck under the next wall and run around the small next wall. Run to the gap in the next wall and duck as the final wall passes by.

Round 2: Run forward quickly to collect the paw and side flip left to collect the next paw (61). Climb over the wall and side flip back and forth several times to avoid the wave of small walls. Duck under the next wall, side flip away from the small wall and climb over four walls in succession. Run against the last wall and jump the gap onto the opposite ledge past its companion to complete the round.

Round 3: Against all your better instincts, take one step back wait for the four small walls to get close, and stand jump through the gap to collect the last two paws (70) that were following close behind. An annoying "congrats" message appears on your screen to block your view and will remain for a few seconds before thankfully going away. Duck as the next wall passes, side flip left and then right to avoid the two small   walls, duck as the next wall passes and take side flips to avoid the final three walls.

When you return to the Cavern of Mysteries, turn around and run back through the tunnel to trigger a concluding flyby through the cabin that has become infested with cats. When the stat screen appears, press the Escape key and wait about a minute for a gallery of Tomb Raider memorabilia to start rolling (as your reward for collecting all 70 paws).
