PERUVIAN JUNGLE

Begin by sliding down to a jungle clearing, run forward and prepare to do immediate battle with a pack of leopards (I counted five). Head NW, and between the tree trunk and the short stump is a N opening. Hop inside and run to the end of the short passage for SECRET #1. Pick up the shotgun ammo, 2 x magnum ammo, small medipack and uzi ammo (all in one clump) and exit. Vault onto the stump for another small medipack and loop left around the large tree to the N bend of the river (the W section to your right is piranha-infested).
Jump into the water and pull up into the N opening on the other side. Shoot some bats and pull down the NE wall switch for a dark cut scene that reveals nothing other than the sound of a door opening. Get back to the river, find magnum ammo at the E end and a small opening at the W end with flares and a small medipack. Beyond the opening is a closed door, so wade out of the water and shoot another leopard. Run toward that huge central tree and turn left to find an E ledge leading to another clearing.
Vault up into the connecting cave and light a flare to see the N crawl space. Go in past a closed door and follow the tunnel to another door that opens before you get there. Stand at the doorway, step into the passage to trigger a boulder and hop back before the door closes in your face. The door will then re-open, allowing you to go down the passage past the bones of someone who didn't survive the boulder. Take a running jump at the floor hole to grab the E ladder and climb up to an opening with a wall switch that opens the nearby door.
Go on through as the door closes behind you, shoot some bats and a baby spider, search the corners of the room for 2 x magnum ammo, 2 x shotgun ammo and 2 x uzi ammo and look for a wall crack at the SW corner. Jump to grab it, shimmy right around the corner and ledge jump up to grab a higher ledge where four baby spiders are waiting. Pick up the magnum ammo and go around to the E plinth for the SERPENT GEM (1 of 2). You hear the sound of a trap door opening, so safety drop to the floor below (but not through the open trap door).
Drop further through the NE floor hole and run over a row of breaktiles. Turn the corner and get past four sets of teeth doors. Climb the S ladder and pull up to a tunnel with 2 x shotgun ammo, 2 x magnum ammo and 2 x uzi ammo as a trap door closes behind you to bar any retreat. Safety drop down the floor hole and shoot four waiting jackals. You're back in the cave between the two jungle clearings, so head E toward a campsite and engage five guards. It's difficult to tell in the darkness if anything was dropped, but near the tent with the burning campfire you'll find the SHOTGUN bundled with magnum ammo and shotgun ammo.
The closest tree to that tent has a ladder on the trunk as you face N. Climb up, shift right and pull up past the leaves onto a limb occupied by a friendly monkey. Grab the flares on an adjacent limb and take a running jump from the W end to grab a branch against the W leaf wall. Go through the opening there to find a wall switch that lowers a trap door blocking a ladder. Return to the limb, jump E to the previous tree, go around to the E side and take a running jump (no grab) to the next tree. Go to the NE corner, jump to the next tree where another monkey is roaming about and go around to the N end. Stand jump to the next tree and go to the W end. Take a running jump into the darkness for SECRET #2 and collect a large medipack along with magum ammo, shotgun ammo and uzi ammo.
Safety drop to the ground and run E through the clearing toward the river as Lara's theme music plays. Shoot the advancing crocodile and grab the large medipack on the rock formation. Jump into the water, swim N and turn left between the two rock formations. At the end of the passage relieve the skeletal remains of the UZIS and 2 x uzi ammo, go back and resume your swim N. You'll soon come to a large medipack next to the E wall. Continue around the corner, noting the closed door to your left and the ladder in the N wall ahead. Just before you reach the waterfall, pull out right onto a lower S ledge. Grab the E climbing surface and climb up to a higher ledge for SECRET #3. Grab the bundled magnum ammo, shotgun ammo and uzi ammo, drop back into the water and swim to that ladder in the N wall.
Mount up, climb past the opened trap door and run forward to a floor lever that results in the sound of a trap door opening, although you can see nothing in the pitch black cut scene. Return to the river, swim all the way S and wade out to your right onto the beach. Run W toward the center of the clearing and deal with a trio of natives. Go past the far corner of the tent with the burning campfire and you'll find a large medipack and a small medipack that may have been there earlier. Go through the W cave to the other clearing and shoot two leopards. Continue W to the piranha-infested section of the river and walk left along the bank to a rock ledge. Take a running jump S to grab the next rock ledge, pull up, hop to the higher adjacent ledge and take a running jump W past the waterfall to grab another rock ledge.
Pull up for 2 x uzi ammo, turn right and take a running jump down to a lower ledge near an opening in the W wall. Go on through, vault into the opening on your right and climb down the ladder on the other side past the opened trap door. Go through the short passage, hop down and deal with a host of bats and baby spiders. Find the SKELETON KEY on the nearby plinth and grab the nearby shotgun ammo. Climb back out via the ladder and use the blocks to retrace your steps to the other side of the river. Go E through the clearing and through the connecting cave to the next clearing, climb the ladder near the tent and walk out to the end of the E limb. Jump to the next tree, walk out to the far NE corner and take a running jump without grab to land on a limb of the next tree (face the right side of the hanging foliage).
Hop over to the S limb and jump across SE. Look next to the tree trunk for the MAGNUM, follow the leaf wall through the weeds and take a running jump from the end of the ledge to grab the E ledge ahead. Pull up and continue to the opening in the SE corner. Step inside the cave to awaken a couple of bats and four angry jackals. Continue up into the next section to encounter more bats and jackals. Take a running jump N over a deep pit and come to an outdoor area guarded by two natives and a vulture. Lara will target three fish in the lake ahead, so shoot them as well.
Jump into the water, swim across and pull out NE next to a keyhole. Use the Skeleton Key to open the temple doors and enter. Run across the breaktiles to a stable row of tiles with a dart trap, crawl to pick up the small medipack and continue across more breaktiles into the N opening. Swinging blades will be triggered, so time your way past them and turn left after the third one to find a wall switch. Save your game before pulling it down, as a trap door will drop open at your feet. Slide down the slope, grab at the end, pull up and take a rolling back flip onto the next slope. Slide and jump to a third slope, slide and jump to grab the wall ladder. Shift left, climb up to the W opening and pull inside.
Go through a short tunnel to a bridge, continue across to the companion tunnel for a large medipack, pull down both wall switches to open the door between them and enter the next room as the door closes behind you. Note the closed door at the NE corner. Check the other corners for a large medipack, 2 x small medipack, uzi ammo and shotgun ammo, pull up into the N alcove on the right to find more shotgun ammo behind the statue and finally pull up into the adjacent N alcove to find a pushblock. Push it to reveal a wall switch that opens a floor trap door. Get down, face S with your back to the floor hole, hop back to grab the edge, shimmy right and drop to trigger a series of blade traps. Slide down the slope with minimal health loss, run forward at the bottom to evade the last blade and turn right.
Pull up the W blocks to emerge on an outdoor ledge, take a running jump to grab the W platform, pull up and jump to the next platform beneath an opening with a wall switch that opens a door in a previous room. Continue through the passage around the corner, climb the wall ladder and pull into the crawl space at the top. Flip out at the other end and go through the opened W door to engage four natives. Continue W and N toward double doors that open upon your approach and promptly close again as you go by. Pause for the UZIS, a SHOTGUN, magnum ammo, shotgun ammo, uzi ammo and some much-needed flares.
Go up the steps into the next room and get ambushed by two natives. Take the SERPENT GEM (2 of 2) from the plinth and find a pushblock at the NE corner. Pull it away from the alcove and go inside to find a wall switch that opens a door somewhere. Move the pushblock all the way over to the S wall and use it to access the high crawl space. Enter, crawl until you can stand up and drop down into a lower passage. Run up W toward the poised boulder and scoot into the alcove to your left for SECRET #4. Grab the bundle of flares, magnum ammo, shotgun ammo and uzi ammo.
Go back down the ramp and slide down the slope to trigger the boulder. If you don't do anything, the boulder will bounce over Lara's head as she reaches the bottom. Take a running jump over the boulder hole and two sets of teeth doors will be triggered ahead. Get past them as well as the automatic door
onto a ledge next to a small pool. Jump into the water and pull the underwater lever to open the underwater E door. Swim through the passage to a familiar outdoor area as the door closes behind you. Swim nearly to the S wall and wade out right as you did earlier. Run all the way across the clearing, go through the connecting cave into the next clearing and continue W to the river.
This time, go to your right and jump over the hungry piranha toward a temple entrance. Place the Serpent Gems in the snake head receptacles to open the N double doors and enter the dark temple. Walk to the edge of a deep pit and stand left. Save your game, take a running jump to grab the swingpole and swing around a few times to pick up some speed. Jumping off is a bit tricky, as you have to release the jump key first at the top of your swing, then immediately release the action key while keeping the up arrow key depressed. Save again when you land safely and go to the other side of the ledge to find a second swingpole. Repeat your earlier moves and land next to double doors that open when you step on the marked trigger tile.
Enter the next room, shoot two jackals and look for magnum ammo, shotgun ammo and uzi ammo bundled with a large medipack in the corner. Pull down the E wall switch to open the adjacent door and step forward to trigger a gauntlet of swinging blades. Time your way past them, pause for 2 x magnum ammo and shotgun ammo after the second one, and continue into the passage as the door closes behind you. Go around the corner and greet the horde of natives (a half dozen or so) coming at you. Target three fish swimming about in the water on either side, jump in and note the closed door at the SE corner. Pull back out, go to the far wall and find the GOLDEN IDOL on the plinth. A door opens in a previous room when you pick it up, and four more natives arrive to do battle.
Jump back into the water, look for 2 x shotgun ammo at the NE corner and 2 x magum ammo at the NW corner. The SE door is now open as well, so swim there and follow the long winding passage to a door that opens upon your approach. Continue through the small opening and emerge at a section of the river next to the jungle clearing. Wade out and go all the way E through the connecting cave into the next clearing and climb the familiar tree ladder near the tent. Scroll back up to where you found the Skeleton Key and follow the same laborious path along the tree limbs in a generally E direction until you reach the weeds alongside the S leaf wall.
Jump the rock ledges to the SE opening and go up the ramp. Turn left and jump over the deep pit to the lake you visited earlier. Go left this time and walk across the waterfall onto a jutting rock ledge. Shoot three approaching vultures, pick up 3 x magnum ammo and an extra MAGNUM next to the skeleton and enjoy a panoramic view of the river area below. Walk E toward the waterfall in the distance, turn left past the opened doors and stand jump to grab the central ledge. Pull up in a crawling position to avoid the darts and do the same thing to get to the N opening.
Get past the swinging blades as you did earlier, hop to the W opening and go across the bridge to the temple doors, which are now closed. You can see two natives trying frantically to get through from the other side, and you can actually shoot and kill them from here if you like. Push the wall switches back up to re-open the doors, deal with the natives if necessary in the next room and find the opened NE door. Enter carefully, as three sets of teeth doors will be activated. Get past them and pause for the magnum ammo and shotgun ammo at the corner. Get past one more set of teeth doors and run to the end of the alley to meet another vulture.
Take a running jump E to grab the jutting rock ledge, pull up to greet a vulture and go S over the bridge to find a ladder. Climb to the ceiling, transfer to the monkey bars and monkey swing over the chasm to the other side. Either drop or climb down the companion ladder and continue around the corner to a broken bridge. Jump over the gap and run into a sloped cave. Shoot three jackals coming from around the corner and continue up to meet three more jackals near closed double doors. Open them with the Golden Idol and step out onto a snowy courtyard to meet a flock of angry vultures.
The N exit doors are closed, so go go around them to the left and use the ladder to climb up to the overhead ledge. There are four pushbuttons, each bearing a different symbol. This is no puzzle, so push them all, in no particular order, to open the doors down below and release five jackals. When all have been slain, enter the dark passage to finish the level.
