THE VENICE HOTEL (DEMO)

The level loads and we find ourselves in a nice patio with a lot of tables just outside a bar. If you look behind you, you'll see a shattered glass you can't go through, and another very solid glass nearby — that one's for later. For now, run out of this patio and towards the gazebo. In the distance, the red carpet leads towards a hotel: that's our end goal.

 

Squeeze through the opening in the corner to reach a hedge maze. Take the right hand side entrance and follow the right hand wall all the way through, looping around and the few dead ends you might come by. You'll eventually reach a closed door (for a secret, later), and shortly after a button for a building coming up next. Deal with thugs and dogs as they find you and check the human bodies for supplies.

 

Inside the building, dispatch more thugs and dogs. The ladder in the back is currently barred by a hatch, so enter the doorway in the opposite corner for a trapped corridor. In the first part, you find easily avoidable statues with swords. Around the corner, things get slightly more difficult: a series of flames with hardly any room to avoid them. You can do running jumps while rubbing the wall to prevent being set ablaze, but at any rate there's a small patch of water before the bend you can use to douse off the flames (by rolling).

 

Get two medipacks and heal appropriately. The final corridor at first is populated by just sword statues, so get to the switch in the back and see that trapdoor at the top of the ladder drop open. Your way back gets a little heated up, so do the same trick to try and jump over the flames or eat medipacks as you run back to the puddle. The shortcut door is open, granting you a safer way back to the building hall.

 

Head to the ladder in the corner and backflip at the top to fight off two thugs and two dogs. Check the bodies for the BAR KEY and a small medipack. Inspect the corner to the left of the fireplace to find a cleverly hidden switch and watch a trapdoor opening elsewhere. Inside the fireplace, there's a pushblock — you can push it twice and inspect what lies behind it, the silver dragon, but if you drop in to take it you'll find yourself trapped forever. So leave it there, and go out onto the balcony.

 

Jump over the railing to the top of the hedge maze and hop your way to the far left corner for grenades, then hop to the far right corner for a trigger tile. The door just beneath opens up, enter the small alcove for the GOLD DRAGON, which effectively makes this SECRET #1. Glue to the left hand wall now to work your way back to the initial patio with the many tables and unlock the bar.

 

A dog and two thugs await inside, loot their dead bodies for shotgun shells and a small medipack. Press a button in the windowsill to open a door in the back. Step inside the threshold of this door to trigger a boulder, then hop back and move out of the way before going in.

 

In this storage area with lots of crates, there are only two you can move. Find the ones tagged with the Fiamma Nera symbol but also the ones with a crack in the corner on their top. One of them is near the entrance, move it towards the different tile next to the ladder in the corner. The other one is part of the largest cluster of crates in the opposite end of the room, just pull it out of the way once to reveal a locked door which gets opened when the other crate is in place.

 

In the small room, flick the switch to flood the lower level. Now go to that ladder in the corner and drop through the hatch you'd opened long ago. As the room is flooded, you can pull the underwater lever and open the next door, only to find the way through is still blocked by a pushblock, so go back to the switch and drain the room. Back in the lower level, push the block as far as it will go to reveal a second pushblock. Move this one around the corner in order to press a button high up on the wall. Inspect the room to find a narrow opening in the wall, we could swim through that if only there were water here...

 

Go through the door you've just opened and as you approach the ladder, a hatch opens above you. Climb up into the room above and go towards the ledge in the back with a wavy item on it: turns out it's a HOTEL KEY. As you pick it up, the room changes and the floor becomes lava. Literally. Avoid all the red carpet tiles as you jump around to the shattered glass and either drop through the trapdoor or jump and hold Action to glide near the window and run outside.

 

Before using the key in the hotel door, let's flood that basement again. So go through the bar, enter the storage area and flick the switch in the small room again. Drop through the hatch by the ladder and swim to that narrow opening to find the JADE DRAGON for SECRET #2. A barrier prevents you from pulling up in the room above, so swim back the way you came and head out the bar.

 

Now go to that area beyond the tables; the gazebo has gone missing and left a deadly pit in its stead somehow. Use the hotel key to wrap things up here.
