LEVEL 1 – A RIVALRY OF RAIDERS
The Way to the Great Pyramid
Advance N, enter the temple and explore the left hand wall to find a movable block (darker than the other parts of the wall), pull it out and aside, advance a bit and find another movable block in the niche just in front of you, push it twice to get the SECRET #1: shotgun shells and a large medipack. Exit and continue N; once inside the temple shoot a bat, pick up the small medipack in the S side, drop into the pit and into the water below. In this pool room swim to the back of the room, locate an underwater level, pull it to open the floor trapdoor in the opposite corner and release a floating block, swim back to the entrance, climb the niche (S side) and jump from block to block to reach the high ledge above the underwater lever, grab the crack, shimmy left, pull up and continue climbing to the very top, shoot a bat and pick up the Skull Key; exit through the nearby opening in the N wall and you are back in the temple entrance. Open the N gate with your key and continue to find yourself in a big outside area with a stepped pyramid.
Advance, shoot the panthers and climb the rocks immediately to your left to get shotgun shells. In this area you can do the tasks in any order going to the N, S and W sides of the pyramid to get three cogs. I did it so:
South Side – First Cog
Jump into the river and drop into a lake in an area with a campfire; pick up a small medipack behind the E tree and to get a secret later enter the E tent and push a movable block at the back to reveal a hidden passage, jump over the spiked pit, pick up shotgun shells, jump onto the tree branch, onto the next one, turn right and take a running jump to grab the edge of the rocky wall with greenery, shimmy left to the very end and get the Rusty Key. Drop to ground floor and this time enter the W tent to get the Shotgun, a Note and a large medipack, but this will alert a mercenary; shoot it and he will escape through the W passage. Read the note to learn about the history and go through the W passage. Avoid a rolling ball on your way and slide to an area with a hut which requires two fuses. Explore this area to find a small medipack, shotgun shells, the first Electrical Fuse in the N watery passage, uzi clips and the mercenary who will drop 2 X magnum clips.
Now go through the E dark passage to another outside area (to cross the spiked pit grab the edge of the rocks to your right and shimmy left). Here climb the roof of the E hut to get a small medipack, shotgun shells behind the other hut, climb this roof too, break the tile, drop down, pick up the large medipack, the shotgun shells and the first Pyramid Cog; go back outside, shoot the mercenary and he will drop 2 X shotgun shells and the second Electrical Fuse. If you got the rusty key in the previous area, you can open the door of the E hut to get the SECRET #2: a large medipack, magnum clips and 2 X shotgun shells; this will alert another mercenary who will drop 2 X magnum clips. Go back to the previous area, shoot a panther and enter the hut to place the fuses: the crate drops so you can move it all the way to the W to reach the high opening and go back to the campfire area shooting a panther on your way. To go back up to the main area with the big pyramid, look for an opening in the NW corner, climb the rocks, pull the switch to open the trapdoor and climb.
West Side – Second Cog
Go to the W side of the pyramid, pick up the shotgun shells and jump through the waterfall to find a room with a pit and a wooden bridge. If you want you can drop into the pit, shoot a panther and get a large medipack. Anyway cross the bridge and continue with a series of running jumps to save the next deep pits shooting some panthers on your way and picking up a large medipack and shotgun shells; soon you’ll find a small area with a TNT crate. Pick up the shotgun shells and pull the switch to open the E and W doors; you’ll find dead ends in both cases, but you can move the TNT crate a considerable distance to jump over the S rocks and in both cases you’ll get the second cog. But to get the next secret move the crate through the W passage, climb it, jump over the S rocks and pull the switch to explode the crate, go behind the tree to a room with shotgun shells and the second Pyramid Cog. Exit and turn left to discover an opening covered with greenery near the SW corner, go through, advance, shoot the raptor, cross the broken bridge, shoot more raptors and in the room with hanging raptors get the SECRET #3: 2 X large medipack, magnum clips, uzi clips and 2 X shotgun shells. Now go all the long way back to the main area with the big pyramid the way you came.
North Side – Third Cog
Go to the N side of the big pyramid to find another temple entrance; if you climb to the roof from the left of right sides you’ll get a small medipack and shotgun shells. Anyway enter the temple and the gate will close at your back, go down the stairs timing the darts on your way (there’s a small medipack in one of the niches with the darts), run over the breakable tiles (spiked pit below) and continue to a room with a pit and a movable cage. Your goal here is to create a bridge so you can move the cage onto the trigger tile in the S side of the room to open the S door. Pick up the large medipack in the pit and approach to the E wall with the four wall switches; from left to right pull the first, the second and the fourth to create the bridge, move the cage onto the orange tile in the S side of the pit and the S door opens. In the next room pick up the shotgun shells, the third Pyramid Cog and pull the switch to move blocks in the previous room (W wall), go back there and follow the passage to find a room with a bat and a timed switch; pull it to move a block so you can climb the block in the E wall, jump onto the block and quickly jump to reach the high S ledge (I found easier roll and directly climb the moved block from its W side and take a curved running jump to grab the S ledge). Climb the blocks, shoot the bat, pick up the magnum clips and you are back in the big outside area with the pyramid.
Entering the Pyramid
Now it’s time to climb to the top of the big pyramid; shoot the panther and to get an extra pickup you can start climbing from the very SE corner of the pyramid, from here you can take a running jump to grab the branch of the S tree and get a large medipack. Anyway climb to the top of the pyramid, pull the wall switch in the W side to open the lateral doors, pick up the uzi clips in the nearby corner, enter, pick up the small medipack and place the cogs to open the E door, pull a last switch to open the trapdoor and drop down to...
LEVEL 2 – A TRIAL OF TOMBS
Opening Doors
Drop into a pool room and quickly get out of the water to shoot the crocs, explore the bottom of the pool to find a small medipack in a corner and an underwater lever to pull in the E side, surface and find the open door in the E wall. Enter, shoot the bats, pick up the Inscription, the shotgun shells and the small medipack in the corner, climb the S rocks, take a running jump to grab the ledge in the corner and another running jump (no grab) to the W ledge with the switch, pull it to raise a door outside, take a running jump to the N ledges so you can cross to the E side of the room and pull another switch to raise a second door outside. To get extra pickups take a standing jump SW over the corner, shoot the bats and pick up the large medipack and the shotgun shells. Read the inscription to learn more about the history and go back to the pool room. Now you can take either N or S passages.
North Door
Run over the stone bridge, time the swinging blades and take a standing jump SE; to get an extra pickup you can take another standing jump to the very back of the room to get a large medipack. Climb to the first floor and cross the next bridge avoiding the darts and the swinging blades, take a running jump to grab the crack in the wall, shimmy right and drop into the hole to slide and land into another pool room. Swim through the opening in the E wall, get out of the water, shoot the crocs if they followed you and pull the switch to dry the pool (note the keyholes here), go back there and climb the opening in the W wall, push the movable block twice, go back to the pool room, pull the switch in the S niche to open a door above, push the movable block between the pillars in a E direction so you can climb the central platform and pull another movable block once, placing it under the hole in the ceiling with the breakable tile; now use the movable block in the floor to reach the high opening in the E wall and re-use the switch again to flood the pool. Locate the door you opened in the N wall and swim there.
First Chamber Key
In the next room pick up the large medipack, climb the central ledge and take a running jump towards the corridor with the fires; take the S corridor first and pull the timed switch to turn off the fires, quickly go all around the room clockwise taking the N corridor and pull a second timed switch to open the door, run and jump fast to cross the corridor before the fires turn on. Climb up to an upper corridor, time the teeth doors and in the next room pick up magnum clips and the first Chamber Key; shoot the mercenary and go back to the main pool room with the mask the way you came.
Second Chamber Key
This time swim through the opening in the W wall and in the next room pull the underwater lever above the entrance to open a door somewhere, swim back to the main room and re-use the switch to dry the pool again; go back to the main room, climb the W opening, climb the blocks and the stairs to the very top of the room, shoot the mercenary, pick up the small medipack and the shotgun shells and locate the door you opened moments ago, enter, take a running jump to the breakable tile and in the room with the deep pit take a jump back and forth on the sloped pillar so you can grab the crack in the N wall, shimmy right, drop grab the edge, shimmy right again, pull up, roll and take a running jump to grab the opening in the corner, run down the stairs, shoot the croc and you are now in a higher part of the main room; drop/grab the edge, shimmy right and pull up in the part with the missing fence, enter the new room, pick up the uzi clips, the second Chamber Key, shoot the bats, break the tile, drop down, shoot the croc and drop to the bottom of the pool room, climb to the room with the switch to dry/flood the room and use the keys to open the door.
First Mayan Mask
From this balcony take a running jump to the central platform; to get the next secret break the central tile, drop down, take a running jump to grab the S ledge, pull up, step on the trigger tile with the circle (timed), jump back to the central platform, climb the movable block, go up through the hole in the ceiling, take a running jump to grab the N ledge and go through the opening before the stone door closes to get the SECRET #4: shotgun shells, uzi clips, magnum clips and a large medipack. Go back to the central platform. Now take a running jump to grab the high W ledge, pull the switch to raise several trapdoors and take a running jump to the highest part of the central structure to get the first Mayan Mask and a small medipack; from here take a standing jump to grab the S trapdoor, pull up, take a running jump to the raised trapdoor to your right to get shotgun shells, jump to the raised trapdoor in the other corner, run up the ramps, pick up the uzi clips, break the tile and drop into a familiar area. Go back to the starting pool room.
South Door – Serpent Gemstones
Jump into the pool below, pick up the small medipack in the corner and swim to the S side where you can surface and shoot the croc; go to the back of the room and swim through the hole in the floor; in the next room pick up uzi clips and pull the underwater lever to open the E and W doors; go back for air when you need it and explore both routes: in one side there is a croc and an underwater lever to pull, in the other side there is a large medipack and another underwater lever to pull; once both levers are pulled, a ceiling trapdoor opens in the room with the first underwater lever, swim back there and surface. Drop through the hole in the corner, shoot the bats and continue avoiding a rolling ball until you get trapped in a room. Pick up the Magnums, the shotgun shells, the large medipack, 2 X Serpent Gemstone and shoot all the mummies; the W door opens so go there, pull the block out and aside, pull the switch to open the entrance door and shoot a last mummy. Exit, shoot a mercenary and go back to the starting room with big columns.
East Serpent
Place the gem in the mouth of the E serpent to open the doors and advance to a room with a movable cage and dart emitters; in addition to the movable cage, there are three more movable blocks you can place in front of the emitters to stop the darts and avoid the damage when you move the cage. Do it so and go to the back of the E pillar, pull the timed switch and run to move the cage under the high switch before the fires turn on; climb the cage, pull the switch and climb the blocks in the NW corner to reach the upper central platform, shoot the bats and jump to the high S balcony; pick up the large medipack, shoot a bat, take a running jump to the E balcony, shoot another bat, pull the switch to open the door in the W balcony and shoot one more bat; make your way to go down and re-use the switch above the cage (I took a curved standing jump to land on its top), climb again the blocks in the NW corner and take a curved running jump to the balcony, go up the stairs and pull the switch in the next room to move a block in the main room with the serpents, go back there via the room with movable blocks.
West Serpent – Second Mayan mask
Place the gem in the mouth of the W serpent to open the doors and advance to a room with columns and a blue rays emitter in the ceiling. To get the next secret check the bases of the columns to find three switches to pull, they open the trapdoor in the SE corner of the room, go there and swim to the end of the passage to find the SECRET #5: a large medipack and 2 X uzi clips; swim back to the previous room. Go to the W side of the room and use the blocks to climb the upper ledge, now you need to time the blue rays to jump onto five trigger tiles with circles to open the W door (yes, those 5 dangerous tiles above the columns), do it the best you can and don’t forget the shotgun shells in the S balcony. Run up the stairs and in the next room shoot a horde of bats, pull the switch to move another block in the main room, shoot the mercenary and exit W; advance through the W passage avoiding the swinging blades, pick up a small medipack near the last one, break the tile in the niche but jump back so you don’t drop, take a standing jump to grab the crack, drop/grab the crack below and drop again to minimize damage. You are now in the main room but on a high balcony, take running jumps to the blocks you moved to reach the far N balcony and go around left or right to get the second Mayan Mask; a trapdoor raises so you can go back to the starting pool room.
The Cave
Go to the W opening and place the masks to open the door, enter, shoot several bats, drop through the hole in the SW corner and when reaching the cave go right, climb the block, take a running jump W, shoot the bats, climb the next block, turn left, jump to grab the edge of the sloped wall, shimmy left, pull up, shoot more bats and continue jumping around the cave counterclockwise using the flatter rocks (there’s an opening with shotgun shells in the SE corner with the plant) and shooting more bats; when you reach the E side of the cave, face S and jump twice onto the sloped rocks to grab the edge of the upper one (do it from the very right side or you’ll never get it), shimmy to the very left, pull up and jump back, from this safe rock jump to the balcony. Detour for a secret: take a standing jump over the E fence with a right curve to land on a safe ledge below, go through the opening to get the SECRET #6: magnum clips and a large medipack. Go back to the balcony taking a running jump S with a right curve and repeating all the moves you did before around the cave.
Finishing
Now take a running jump to the S rocks under the bridge and use the blocks in the right side to climb to the top where the bridge is attached (jump back and forth onto the sloped rock in the corner). To get a small medipack, from the right side of the bridge climb the W rock, turn right, drop/grab the edge and shimmy left; go back the same way using the crack. Anyway cross the bridge, go down the stairs and right to a room with many vases, pull the switch to open doors somewhere and go to the E side of the stairs; run over the breakable tiles from the left side, slide and finally fall into the room with the open doors, advance W (beware of the falling debris) and slide down the ramp to finish the level.
LEVEL 3 – A DANCE WITH DEATH
Lava Room
Pick up 2 X uzi clips in the corner and continue S to a room with closed gates, climb the niche, push the movable block several times and pull the switch to open the double gates you saw before. In the lava room turn left and from the part between the rocky fences take a running jump to grab the S rocks, pull up (flatter tile) and climb up the SW rocks; to get extra uzi clips, take a running jump (no grab) to the top of the arch above the entrance and found them in the far NW corner. Go back to the SW rocks and continue running/jumping in a E direction using the flatter parts and from the block in the lava take a running jump E-NE with a left curve landing onto sloped rocks below, sliding backwards to reach a safe block down in the lava river; take a standing jump to the N rock, a running jump to the rocks in the corner and finally climb the other part of the broken bridge. Closed gates here too, so take a running jump to a flatter part of the S rocks and climb to the top of the arch with the closed doors to find a switch to open them. There are shotgun shells easy to pick up in this area too.
Timed Run
In the next room go left and pull the switch to raise bars in an opening above, it’s timed so don’t waste time and jump back and forth on the yellow slope in the right side of the switch to grab the high N ledge, pull up, take a sidejump right to the next ledge, roll, take a running jump to grab the S crack, shimmy right, pull up, roll, take a running jump to the breakable tile under the opening and climb it before the door closes. There’s a large medipack to pick up in a corner, but the time was too tight for me so I had to pick it up before doing the timed run and drop down repeating all the moves. When you are succeed pull the switch to open a trapdoor in the room below and exit through the N opening, slide down the slopes, drop, pull the switch to open the nearby door and exit. For a secret: once you open the trapdoor approach the central hole (spikes below) and run off the edge with grab to safely land out of the spiked tiles and get the SECRET #7: shotgun shells, uzi clips and the Uzis on the spiked tiles; exit N, slide and pull the switch to open the door.
Trapdoors Room
Drop through the hole with the open trapdoor and run down the stairs to a room with lava pits in the corners, pick up the shotgun shells, approach the NE pit and look down to spot an opening in one of the walls; drop/grab the edge of the pit, drop/grab the edge of the opening below, pull up and pull the switch to raise trapdoors above in the S wall; take an angled standing jump to grab the edge of the pit, pull up, climb the trapdoors, grab the crack, shimmy left and continue to the niche in the NW corner. This switch is timed, so pull it to raise the remaining trapdoors and quickly run and jump until you reach the high opening in the NE corner, follow the passage to land into the adjacent room.
More Lava Rooms
Look for a small medipack and magnum clips in the W side of the room, uzi clips on the bridge near the skeleton, continue E, shoot the crawling atlantean, pull both switches at the back of the room to raise bars somewhere and if you want, there is a niche under the last part of the bridge with a large medipack (drop/grab/drop/grab/go up with a curved standing jump). Shoot another crawling atlantean on your way back to the W side of the room and climb the NW rocks; from here run/jump all around the room counterclockwise using the flatter parts of the rocks (not difficult) until you reach the far SW corner, shooting a couple of winged atlanteans on your way. Once you reach the opening with the raised bars, slide down the ramp backwards, grab the edge, shimmy a bit left, drop, take a sidejump left, roll and take a standing jump onto the next breakable tile and run to the safe block; from here take a running jump to grab the W breakable tiles, pull up jump to the tiles in the corner, grab the crack and shimmy right to the other corner where you can pull up. From this safe position you can try to shoot the winged atlantean; take a standing jump to grab the E ledge, pull up, pull the switch, shoot another winged atlantean, jump to the ledge where it was, drop/grab the edge, drop onto the safe block below and take a curved running jump to the ledge with the now open gates.
Broken Bridge Cave
Run up the stairs and in the next room pick up 2 X magnum clips, 2 X shotgun shells and a small medipack in the corners, now go to the corner without ammo (NW), climb the block and run and jump up the wide ramp using the flatter tiles and avoiding several rolling boulders, once up pick up uzi clips and the Drawbridge Key. Slide down the ramp back to the bottom and use the key in the N wall near the entrance: trapdoors raise forming a bridge so you can cross to the S side of the cave, but the centaurs will wake up and they won’t make it easy for you. Save the next broken part with a running jump, pick up the magnum and uzi clips and face E for another timed sequence: step onto the trigger tile with the circle to turn off the fires and run and jump with curves to cross to the far E side with a last slide/jump/grab. Shoot the winged atlantean and pull the switch to open the door you saw in the W side; to go back there exit S and follow the long passage shooting several enemies, avoiding boulders and taking jumps onto the slopes when necessary until you eventually reach the S side of the lava room (there are also uzi clips to pick up on your way). Now take running jumps N shooting more enemies until you reach the part of the bridge where you started the timed run (don’t forget the small mediapack next to the skeleton).
Take a running jump to the ledge with the open door and if you are interested in the next secret don’t enter yet but take a running jump N-NW to the black rocks attached to the wall; when you find the first slope you can’t walk, look down to the lava trench to see a water hole, take a running jump there and swim to an underwater cave with the SECRET #8: 2 X shotgun shells, a large medipack, magnum clips and 2 X uzi clips, swim up the hole in the ceiling and follow the passage to land in front of the open door (slide down backwards/grab the edge/drop).
Room with Timed Fires
Slide down the ramp, shoot the centaur and the crawling atlantean, pick up the large medipack and check the S wall to find a movable block, pull it once and climb it so you can grab the crack, shimmy right, pull up and take a running jump to the central platform; pick up the magnum clips behind the yellow block, pull the switch to turn off the fires, pull the switch in the opposite side and immediately take a sidejump to avoid being smashed by the falling cage; pull the switch to stop the fires again if you need it (it’s timed) and move the cage to the E side of the room so you can pull the high switch there, drop down, shoot the winged atlantean and exit.
Face Tiles Puzzle
Pick up 2 X uzi clips and 2 X magnum clips near the entrance, shoot a crawling atlantean and a centaur, exit through the opening in the W wall, take a running jump to the block with the magnum clips, shoot the winged atlantean and facing the entrance look to the ceiling to know the tiles you must touch in the previous room to open the door; go back there, shoot two winged atlanteans, pick up shotgun shells, uzi clips and step/jump only on the raised tiles you saw marked in the other room, the faces with the open mouth (first row LEFT, second row CENTER-RIGHT, third row LEFT-RIGHT) and the door should open (don’t touch any other raised or floor tiles).
The Escape
In the next room check the corners to get shotgun shells, 2 X uzi clips and a small medipack; eventually the mercenary will appear, shoot him and this time he will die, dropping the Escape Hatch Key and the Camarazotz’s Table. Use the key in the N keyhole to open the trapdoor in the center of the room and drop there. Now prepare yourself for a series of slides/jumps over lava pits; after the second jump you must curve to the left side of the pit and then to the right side; after this last jump you can save your game. Continue sliding to find a very huge cave with a big central rock, jump to the safe rocks all around counterclockwise picking up 2 X uzi clips on your way until you can take a standing jump to the central structure, now you must continue always counterclockwise jumping/climbing and shooting countless winged atlanteans until you reach the very top of this central huge rocky island. Sometimes you’ll be forced to grab cracks or the edges of the slopes and shimmy right to flat tiles, slide/jump over sloped rocks, avoid a rolling boulder, etc. (not so hard at all). On your way up pick up shotgun shells.
Dangerous Corridor
When you reach the top, take a long running jump (no grab) to the breakable tiles, pick up 2 X uzi clips on the platform and continue through the N opening. Go right at the junction timing teeth doors, pushing a block, timing swinging blades and pulling switches to open doors, but don’t waste time because the lava will be hot on your heels. If you are fast you can pick up a small medipack on your way. At the end of the corridor slide down the ramp to fall into a lake.
Finding Camazotz
Pick up a large medipack, 2 X shotgun shells and 2 X uzi clips under the central structure and get out of the water from its low part in the NW corner; now you have to deal with Camazotz (you’ll need to kill him twice) a couple of winged atlanteans and a rolling boulder; when calm is restored go to the SE corner of the platform and take a running jump to grab the S rock, continue runing/jumping clockwise all around the cave (you’ll need to grab a crack and shimmy right too) until you find an opening high up in the E wall, advance and in the next lava room move yourself fast over the breakable tiles and from the last one take a running jump to grab the edge of the N rocks, shimmy left, pull up, roll and take a running jump to grab the ledge attached to the building, enter, jump over the spiked pit, jump into the pool and swim until you find a closed door; look for a hole in the ceiling several meters before the door and pull the underwater lever there to open it, swim there and the current will take you to a beach area.
The Beach
If you want you can finish the adventure now: run E, ignore the enemy, run over the wooden pier and mount the boat, but in this case you’ll miss the last secret of this level. Otherwise get out of the water, pick up 2 X uzi clips and shoot the mercenary, he will drop a large medipack; jump into the water to the left of the pier and look S for a watery passage, swim there and through the underwater crawlspace to get the SECRET #9: a small medipack. Go back to the beach, run over the wooden pier and mount the boat to finish this adventure.
