"Box Test. Two near identical rooms that spawn 5 wolves each via a flip map when you travel from one room to the other. End Level Test. Presumably to showcase Lara peering at something to indicate what to do next. Lara Falling 1. Lara falls from a great height and survives due to an absorbent ground. Lara Falling 2. Lara falls from a great height and survives due to a small layer of water. Lara Falling 3. Lara falls from a great height and survives for no apparent reason as the ground is solid in this one. Raptor Test. Three buttons to push and each one spawns a heap of raptors that you kill with the onboard cannon from Tomb Raider 3. This lasts around six minutes and it's amazing how accurate you can get and those raptors don't stand a chance. Sophia Test. Highlighting how Sophia works. Waterflow 2. Highlighting how to engage a current in water. Waterflow 3. Highlighting how to flip map a water fill. Waterscheme. 15 different rooms filled with water but I could not see any discernible differences. Waterscheme 2. Same idea but this time large holes in the ground with water but again I could tell no difference. Waves. Showing undulating sides to a cavern as if imaging through waves offshore. Willard Test. Yes well, Willard works." - Torry (12-Jan-2020)
"Here's a collection of rather creative small test levels. Mostly were built as mere visual reference for the author himself, no doubt, such as water reflections, waves and sink strenght test chambers. On the other hand, there are some peculiar ideas which would be interesting to see in fully fleshed out levels, such as the "moving" camera target; Lara surviving falls from incredible heights thanks to invisible quicksand; and even a shooting range using the Crash Site mounted rocket launcher and infinite (well, not quite, expect around 6 minutes of enemy spawns) raptors rushing towards you. Obviously not proper levels so maybe don't take the ratings at face value but rather consider the concepts behind each one of them. 20 minutes. 12/19" - Treeble (29-Dec-2019)
"Nothing really entertaining for players, but only for the author himself and for another builders. In this small levles the author experimented various features (some of them I've never seen in custom levels) to apply in "real" playable levels. Out of interest for players." - Jose (23-Apr-2019)
"Again, mainly of interest to aspiring builders, but it is worth playing for the Raptor Test 1 level, where you can use a rocket launcher to bump off a shed load of dinosaurs for a bit of mindless satisfaction (surprisingly, my stats registered 210 kills!). Everything else is, as said, mainly for builders." - Ryan (07-Aug-2016)
"Much like a lot of test levels, what's on offer here is intended as more of a demonstration to potential builders, in regards to how specific engine features work and not so much as an appetizer for players/reviewers to actually sink their teeth into. While I do admit to getting a little satisfaction out of blowing up as many enemies as I could in a way not too dissimilar to a shooting gallery in the 'Raptor Test' map, everything else about this release simply pales in comparison(ranging from rematches with the mutated Willard spider/Sophia Lee to simple things like three completely similar fall testing rooms and an end trigger sequence), to name a few. So overall, if you're someone who plans to create levels under this engine at some point, then this may be legitimately worth a look. But as an actual raiding experience however, players are better off downloading something else." - Ceamonks890 (16-Sep-2014)
"About what one can expect from test levels: lots of features being tested without context, story, atmosphere, etc. Builders might find this interesting, as different elements that could drastically impact gameplay are tested. But there is no reason to go through these levels otherwise (unless you're curious like me). Provides exactly what the name implies--nothing more and nothing less." - Xela (20-May-2014)
"This is probably aimed at builders rather than players, but provides an interesting glimpse into some TR3 moments. Box Test: Shoot a pack of wolves. End Test Level: Nine seconds of arrow watching. Falling Lara 1: Lara falls to her death, only somehow manages to be caught by an invisible safety net. Falling Lara 2: As Falling Lara 1 only from slightly higher up. Falling Lara 3: Ditto, plus more height. Raptor Test: Now this is FUN. A recreation of that wonderful scenario where Lara gets to bump off a load of raptors with a Bofors gun. Woohoo. Sophia Test: A partial recreation of the iconic battle with Sophia. Water Flow 2: (No idea what happened to no. 1). A test of water flowing in different directions. Water Flow 3: Pull a switch and change the room into an underwater environment. Waterscheme 1 & 2: These seem to be just a series of water tanks from below and above. Not being a builder, the significance was pretty much lost on me. Wave Test: Admire the effect of light rippling off the surface of the water and by all means have a quick dip if you wish. Willard Test: An effective mini recreation of the scary Willard spider." - Jay (20-Jul-2011)
"These test levels show the most tricky enemy fights in TR 3 and sometimes just single rooms. I found no finish trigger in any level; when reading the walkthrough you can read there is one when killing Sophia, but I never managed to do this. Textures were sometimes standard, mostly rather stretched." - manarch2 (06-Jan-2011)
"These are undoubtedly the most enjoyable test levels so far released,as almost all of them contain a palpable sense of humour and imagination. From a hugely fun 'massed raptor shooting arcade' with a giant machine gun;to a short and swift Sofia encounter;a clever little visual level-ending gag;a shoot-out (easily avoidable) with Willard;and a trio of terrific falls from great heights where the player continually has their expectations confounded by having Lara land on her feet and walking away! You'll be through with these in no time, but at least you'll be leaving with a smile on your face." - Orbit Dream (05-Aug-2010)
"As with most other test levels out there - these are more meaningful to the author himself than the players. The raptor shootout with the rocket launcher is a fun distraction till the novelty wears off, the domino effect on the doors was fun to watch in the end level test, as were a few others, and the Willard sequence did not work as described in the walkthrough for me too even if I experimented with its location in the script." - eTux (20-Jun-2010)
"Most of the points awarded are indeed for the really fun raptor shoot out. The other levels show some references more useful for builders and a few neat technical building tricks. I also did not have to kill willard, as picking up an artifact ended the level, but it is fun to try and kill him anyway." - MichaelP (12-Jun-2010)
"Thirteen tiny test levels, but only two have real interest. About half the tests have Lara being swept along in water at various speeds, or have pools with different shadow depth, or are a display of surface waves. Three separate falling tests have Lara landing in an invisible water band or something, so her screaming fall ends with her landing unharmed on her feet. A fun "Raptor Test" has Lara manning an aircraft cannon, blowing up wave after wave of onrushing raptors. Sometimes they nearly reach her, so this is a good test of steady nerves, and there are three such trials initiated by three buttons. I thought the last small level would be the best, as the walkthrough indicates this is like a miniature "Meteorite Cavern" from TR3, with Willard the giant spider circling a pit to get at Lara. But in my game, whenever Lara picked up any one of the four artifacts, the level abruptly ended. Lara is supposed to be able to shoot the spider, and acquire all four artifacts, and clearly this has worked for other players." - dmdibl (10-Jun-2010)
