Reviewer's comments
"A level that was briefly featured on the main page of the trle site. I always browse through the builds that are young Lara inspired but this one completely passed me by... I had a great time playing this build! The entire adventure and story is well handled and I appreciate the effort that went into making this level. I didn't go for the secrets because I wasn't very interested in them, my main focus was directed to the gameplay. I found some areas a bit empty and too big, could've been filled with some more props IMO." - young Lara Croft (21-Jul-2021)
"It's the cutscenes which make this level, probably at a price of short duration, but I prefer brief and dense over stretched and boring. Could include less crude geometry and better lighting, and definitely should NOT involve a double shimmy, one of those passages while being shot. Still, it's sweet enough to instantly replay for missed secrets. Not a big thing but shouldn't be forgotten." - DJ Full (14-Jun-2019)
"Although I am not so fond of a young Lara level I have to say that Luis made quite an adventurous one. Lots of exploring to do, as well as lots of running back and fro to figure out where to go and what to do. The secrets are very well hidden and if you want them all you have to look in every nook and cranny. I missed one but I am not going back for it LOL. There are several traps and a few timed runs, the one underwater was the pits I have to say. Hardly any enemies and the few you encounter you better avoid. The last “battle” was a nice one. Textures could use some attention but overall it all works." - Gerty (03-Jun-2019)
"Another fine level from this builder, this time using a TR5 environment and objects. Even when it's a young Lara level (no guns, no flares...) the gameplay is entertaining with no much backtracking, but the first timed run could be very tight for many players (at least it was hard for me). There are some enemies to avoid here and there (no problems), but the secrets may be hard to find (I only found one). The rooms are well textured but the best was the great atmosphere with all that cut scenes, special effects and a good use of cameras and sounds. Definitely recommended." - Jose (24-Dec-2018)
"Clearly a nice level in my book. Having a Young Lara level was very nice for a change, and the author created a cool little level. I had a lot of TR5 vibes playing this, love it. The story makes sense and the player is immersed in a good environment. Puzzles are fairly simple but entertaining, I doubt you can get stuck though, as there's always something to pick up or activate depending on the way you go. Honestly, there isn't much to say about this level, except that I do recommand anyone to play this little journey. Worth around 30 mins or an hour of gameplay, and with a few secrets to collect :) Props to you, Kingluis." - Hedteur (06-Nov-2018)
"I'm not really a huge fan of Young Lara levels, but I actually found this adventure to be an enjoyable and worthwhile excursion. The atmosphere and surroundings of the original TR5 Black Isle sections are nicely recreated here, without appearing too similar. The gameplay also manages to entertain without being too difficult (although the use of a few of the items might have you scratching your head a few times). The secrets are just rose artefacts, but they are well hidden and at least they aren't all the same. Recommended." - Ryan (15-Oct-2018)
"It's nice to see at least one builder who has took the time to improve. This is a very accomplished level and by far the best of the builder, with many neat touches reminiscent of TR 5, without being a remake though. The enemy design of which you have to avoid all or get rid of them in other ways than weapons is clever and I liked the boss area very much. There are several decent traps and a timed run to absolve, and progression is generally very clever, but I felt a bit more of puzzles and the like could've helped this game to reach even higher grounds. Texturing is fairly decent, not without mistakes but for such a non-squaric environment they are well applied as well as the lighting. I found a few missing textures in the last water area, though that's a minor issue. The areas are all built with enough care to create a quite special atmosphere, and the FMVs and sounds supported it quite well. The edges of the map could've been handled with some more care, in my opinion, as they do not blend well with the surrounding parts. Overall a very nice 30 minute offering here I wished to have explored even more. On top, there are five excellent secrets to find, so this is of course recommended." - manarch2 (03-Oct-2018)
"A sort of Ireland level starring Young Lara that's not dark as hell - good. It seemed well designed and with some pretty good ideas (the one thing I didn't really understand was why Lara kept looking at the treetops in the lake area - that's just confusing). Mostly a bit cryptic - and aren't most of the levels? - but quite satisfying and with a nice atmosphere. A job well done, no doubt." - Jorge22 (24-Sep-2018)
"We have very few TR5 levels in our inventory, and this one is a worthy and welcome addition to that category. It's based on the Ireland levels where the protagonist is Young Lara, and the environs are faithful to the original. The only enemies can be easily evaded or endured, as the case may be, as no weapons are available, and the lack of flares proved not in the least to be disadvantageous. I played this one and wrote a walkthrough while waiting for Hurricane Florence to pass by our area, and I was grateful for the distraction. The five secrets are cleverly placed and some require a bit of backtracking if you wish to collect them all. I generally find story lines in a custom level to be a waste of time, but the FMVs here were well spaced and provided a sense of continuity. A hour's entertainment is provided here, and I thoroughly enjoyed the raid from start to finish. Recommended." - Phil (17-Sep-2018)
"I'm not generally a fan of Young Lara levels, but, perversely, the original Black Isle levels from Chronicles are among my all time favourites. The recreation here of the wonderful atmosphere and the haunting sound files is really well done and the gameplay is inventive and interesting, especially the way Lara gets to deal with the knights at the end of the game. If you too are a fan of the original levels, you honestly shouldn't miss this. I loved it and I think you will too." - Jay (17-Sep-2018)
"Awesome Ireland level which I Tested,. The secrets are so well hidden Luis had to tell me where all of them are. There are no enemies but the puzzles are super cool,. Excellent job Luis." - JoeTheCrazyGamer (11-Sep-2018)
"I must admit that this young Lara game was definitely different from any other identical games I had seen beforehand this website. At first, I thought this is going to be another boring young Lara adventure, which consists of tiresome gameplay, boxy environment and flat lighting, but as soon as the game started right away, it totally changed my mind and I decided to complete the outstanding adventure to the end! This game reminded me of Tomb Raider Chronicles' young Lara environment. It is worth noting that there was nothing about this game to complain, although I expected to see more Next Generation content out of this debut, such as NG textures , but not a big deal at alp. Well done! Top recommended level!!! Thank you." - Mehrbod (11-Sep-2018)
