Reviewer's comments
"Some of the earlier reviewers seem to have suffered from technical issues with the initial release, but I encountered none of those with the current version - and as I also shamelessly relied on Mulf''s walkthrough along the way, this turned out to be a really nice experience for me. The whole setup, the great use of objects, the atmosphere, the ambience music is all very, very convincing. Gameplay is rather on the basic side with the usual hunt for keys and cards and the one switch puzzle that used to be problematic. Enemies are the to be expected zombies, zombie dogs and a few SAS guards, plus the boos scorpion at the end. I liked the scene when you douse the fire around the heli and the general cohesive story telling overall. I ended up being a bit lucky with killing the scorpion with almost my last available bullet (as I had really not been conserving them along the way), so there is a chance you run into a softlock at the end if you are not careful along the way. 40 minutes and 3 easy gem secrets to find." - MichaelP (20-Mar-2024)
"I’m totally unfamiliar with Resident Evil and thus unable to speak as to the authenticity of this level. What I can say, however, is that the creepy, bloodstained atmosphere is extremely well done and the somewhat gloomy lighting is entirely appropriate and not too oppressive. It’s not a long level, but packs plenty of punch with lots of enemies to battle – mostly zombies, although the giant scorpion did come as a bit of a surprise. Fire power is initially restricted, but more than sufficient is provided as the game progresses. Gameplay is mainly exploration based, but I found it very entertaining and if you like the genre you should be very happy here." - Jay (25-Oct-2023)
"Purposefully placed objects make the rooms look more functional. Enemies come in arrangements which make sense. Getting the green key and finishing the valve puzzle was satisfying, but I don't understand the switch riddle. It's also not so good you have to run extra a lot if you miss the crowbar. Still, it's a solid escape demo and I hope it will be topped by the full game." - DJ Full (16-Apr-2023)
"I started off spooky month with this TRLE and had a good time in a faithfully recreated version of part of the RPD! Like I say what we got to explore was faithfully recreated to high standard but I was kinda left wanting a bit more of the area to explore. Gameplay was more than serviceable, albeit one of the puzzles was a little bit on the cryptic side even with the hint! I like the fact that all ammo was limited in this level set, adds to the survival horror theme. The enemies I feel would have been better if the pistols did damage to them too. They might well have but the read me file and walkthrough steered me away from using them for combat. All in all a short and sweet level set thats well worth a play, especially if you like a bit of classic Resident Evil." - Feats (03-Oct-2022)
"Again, another level I couldn't finish. My bad luck I think, 'cause I didn't found hard tasks here. All was fluid until I reached the room with several buttons and the movable piece; I read the hint from the book in the corner and I tried several combinations; 'cause the hint is not too clear I decided to read the walkthrough. I did all I found in the walkthrough, but even so the bars door never raised; then I decided to check one of those video walkthroughs, and surprisingly I saw that it was the same I already did it before, so one more time I loaded a savegame, exactly repeat the same movements I saw in the video walkthrough and the door still doesn't open, so I had to abandone the level." - Jose (08-Apr-2022)
"I came to this one late, and it's enjoyable in a spooky kind of way. The ambiance is convincingly foreboding, with a few "gotcha" moments thrown in for good measure. It took me about an hour, so it's certainly not what I would call a "short" level, and everything unfolds in logical fashion when you're guided by Mulf's comprehensive walkthrough. Despite the darkness the need for flares is infrequent, and plenty are provided in any event. You also get a wide variety of weapons and ample ammunition to deal with the enemies you encounter. Cut scenes and remote cameras are used to good effect. Not what I'd call an uplifting raid, but nice for a macabre change of pace." - Phil (10-Sep-2021)
"Not without potential, but I'll admit this didn't work out all that well for me. The overall construction of this "demo" actually isn't all that bad and the atmosphere is convincing enough, but the gameplay fails to measure up to that and in itself is flawed. The puzzle aspect is rather lacking, the corridor-running aspect of the gameplay is a bit repetitive and the button puzzle is either downright buggy or contains a misleading hint, as I could only solve it by pressing all the buttons clockwise from a particular point and even then it took a fair few reloads. Luckily the limited ammo wasn't too much of a handicap. The full version could very well be something special, but the kinks need ironed out first." - Ryan (26-Jul-2021)
"Excellent game, it had some decent scares and the theme was well. The map was easy to navigate as well! Some of the puzzles required some critical thinking to figure out while others required you to be extremely observant of what's around. The enemies were not too difficult other than the final one. Skilled players will handle it well. I look forward to more from this author, this was a great level design!" - g12STL (22-Jul-2021)
"Oh well. Let's just agree this is a bit more enjoyable than the previous RE game of the builder, in that it's not as much of a door maze, but then it is still a maze-like level with a lot of buttons to push and items to find - perhaps some in a slightly more creative way. One or two puzzles, a lot of fairly predictable enemy attacks (with limited but enough ammo to deal with them) and a solid dark atmosphere, but the builder is not very generous with flares, as I found some only in the second level and the first level is quite dark as well. In a few scenes, it shows the builder is capable of more (as he has shown in Skull Temple), but in games like this it seems to be hard to use the skills to their potential. Found three easy secrets in 30 minutes." - manarch2 (13-Jul-2021)
"This is an abandoned project released "as is" so we don't have to expect anything special. It's an attempt to recreate a Resident Evil style in Tomb Raider. The set is the Police Station of Resident Evil 2 (if you know the game). The scary atmosphere is good, the gameplay instead is... like in Resident Evil: find keys, solve puzzles and kill zombies. What you miss the most is some platforming." - Teone (13-Jul-2021)
"Well, one does have to go to the police station, right? Fortunately, the zombies aren't of the poisoning kind, even though the police, and, mainly, the large scorpion in the end, do take some ammo to get rid of. I enjoyed this two level set in the genre, firstly in a mansion, and secondly at the dreaded police station. The settings are ok, the atmosphere is creepy enough but not so as to make it scary, and the main difficulty here is dealing with the limited ammo (knowing when and where to use it), and sometimes, being able to spot tiny objects, such as the T-Cell or whatever it's called (not that that's of any use except for the story itself). Maybe this wasn't the full level as planned, but it was still quite enjoyable." - Jorge22 (11-Jul-2021)
