Reviewer's comments
"If you like short levels with nothing attractive about the surroundings, massive amounts of pickups and dozens and dozens of ninjas appearing out of thin air, then go ahead and download this level. If, however, you'd rather have a bit of enjoyable, coherent gameplay in well built and pleasant settings then I'd avoid this like the plague. Even for shooter level fans, this is hard to recommend." - Jay (03-Aug-2018)
"A simple shooter level without interest. There are a lot of pickups you'll never use and hundreds of white ninjas to shoot while you advance through prismatic and empty rooms with nothing to do. Well, there are some spike ball traps too. In one of the rooms you'll trigger so many enemies that many of them turn invisible! If you're tired of shoot, in the last room you can run up the ramp to avoid more white ninjas. Only for pure shooters." - Jose (17-Jan-2018)
"This is a must-play, no doubt about it: if only to witness the gap that can so often be perceived between the builder’s intentions (explicitly stated in this case) and their execution widen into an abyss that the combined efforts of men and gods cannot hope to ever bridge. Hilarious in its unabashed display of utter incompetence throughout, its sole visual flourish (when the camera pulls out at the very end to reveal a set of three more baddiesâ€"what, only three?â€"to be instantly blown into oblivion) ends up as a veritable howler. Recommended. Strongly." - Mulf (13-Apr-2017)
"What carnage! When you pick up 25 medipacks at the start, you know you are in for a shooter and indeed this level delivers. Not much gameplay or atmosphere to speak of. Just shoot, shoot, shoot." - Ryan (06-Apr-2016)
"Apparently inspired by the Matrix film franchise(according to the builder's readme), this release is yet another classic example of why Tomb Raider just doesn't work as a shooter, with you having to contend with an entirely unbalanced armada of ninjas at seemingly every turn, including brief bouts of swimming and climbing sections in-between the seemingly never-ending gunfights(amongst lifeless and boxy repetitively-textured rooms.) So if you feel like turning off your brain for 10 minutes and start mowing down enemies like a maniac(akin to many action film heroes from the 1980's), then go right ahead. But if you don't fit among that audience however, this is one level that's practically guaranteed to bore you, after spending five minutes alone picking up the generous amount of supplies(because it was certainly the case for me). Overall, better off merely skipping this one." - Ceamonks890 (28-Jun-2015)
"I hope you like shooting explosive arrows with your crossbow, because that's about the extent of the gameplay in this 10 minute level. Pick up a load of items at the beginning and go to town! I'm not really a fan of shooter levels. For me, the point of enemies was to keep you on edge; the chance of death was always around the corner. Here, Lara's gone Rambo. If you really like exploding a ton of ninjas, then look no further! But if you expect more meat to your raiding, you will sadly find little here to perk your interest." - Xela (26-Jun-2014)
"In the beginning, we get 25 medipacks placed on the same square. When holding Action to pick up all of them, Lara stands up and ducks rapidly 25 times, so it looks like the game is locked up, even if it is not. We can also find the revolver, the shotgun and the grenade launcher, which we make no use of, because we get so many ammo for our main weapon - the crossbow - that it could be enough for at least six levels like this one, with dozens of ninjas to fight. SUMMARY: 10 minutes of play, 5 of which is wasted for grabbing the pickups. Recommended only for devoted fans of shooters, who don't mind anything else than wiping out hordes of enemies." - DJ Full (15-Oct-2010)
"Rooms: 11; playing time: 9 minutes; time to pick up all Goodies: About 4 minutes; number of the Baddies: Too many to count everybody; lighting: Monotonously brightly; room size: Gigantically; textures: Hardly variety and mostly stretched; play fun: Completely below in the cellar. What should one else write to this imposition? The 36 big Medipacks would have reached for at least 10 other levels, with about 60 explosive arrows one could fumigate the hell and the level builder has snitched the countless Baddies probably from a dozen other Levels. Even more does not occur to me to this concoction." - Scottie (08-Jun-2009)
"This is shooter game. Lara is in air shaft and must escape from this place. Mostly you pick up ammo, weapons and medi-packs. Many of enemies can be easily avoided. I didn't find any secrets. Not challenging at all, so game is suitable also for beginners." - Oxy (22-Jul-2007)
"Lots of medkits and ammo to pick up at the beginning and as it's a real shooter level, you've got loads of ninjas to kill. It's a nice short 10 minute 'game'. The rooms are quite empty - but it really looks interesting!" - Tinka (20-Oct-2005)
"After 8 min 37sec the game crashed back to desktop.. Sorry Edward, this was not a hard level. It was one of the easiest levels I have ever played :) Next time try with maybe 5 large packs and 20 explosives? Anyway, I had a good laugh and I enjoyed the shooting :) 2005-05-28" - QRS (31-May-2005)
"An interesting title for an 'if it moves let's shoot it' game. The long vents along which Lara had to trundle had some interesting metallic textures but they tended to be somewhat overdone. The explosive crossbow bolts easily dispensed all enemies who simply appeared it seems out of thin air. Use of a few of the copious medipacks means Lara does not have any real problems and can avoid getting 'deaded' very easily. In fact she seems to have few if any problems at all in the game. If you want a short 'if it moves shoot it' time have a go at the game otherwise perhaps not." - Mrs rjb (24-Nov-2004)
"This level doesn't have any gameplay at all because the only thing Lara does is kill ninjas and there are too many objects to pick up (example: 25 large medipacks!). On the other hand the boulders are well positioned (especially the second set which can either kill Lara or prevent her from finishing the level. This only occurs if you don't go to the underwater tunnel immediately). There are also paper-thin walls some stretched textures enemies appearing out of thin air and boring textures. The background music didn't go well with this level the lighting is almost always at R 128 G 128 and B 128 and the water textures aren't animated. I can't believe that the author considered this level as a difficult one." - Sakusha (17-Apr-2004)
"Simple level with not one serious puzzle. All that Lara needs to do here is to kill many ninjas and I mean many coz they show up in every step. Bad level - sorry." - Yoav (02-Mar-2004)
"If this level is based on 'The Matrix' I never want to see that movie. Ever. The author states that this level is so hard that he had to enable DOZY to play through it. Why? Millions of Medipacks and explosive arrows made this level one of the easier I've played. The traps are not the least bit dangerous either. The only good thing about this level is that it only lasts for around four minutes. At least if you ignore most of the ninjas. You get enough medipacks to get you through a hundred levels like this one anyway." - Magnus (29-Jan-2004)
"I read the reviews for this level and thought 'It can't really be that bad can it?' It is. On the plus side though as an eternal beginner with the hand/eye co-ordination of a dead tree it gave me great pleasure to finish a level in 11.5 minutes with 30 large medipacks in reserve and more ammo and weapons than I can shake a branch at. What a blast. As for texturing I am quite impressed at how few were used - must be a record - though they are quite nice. Lighting was bright and flat camera usage was baffling and atmosphere must have been present or else we would not be able to breathe. :-) As much as this massaged my ego I can rate it no higher than other reviewers have. It is a tiny download so therefore worth a look at if you have a few spare moments and fancy a shooting-fest." - Staticon (29-Jan-2004)
"Another one of those massacre levels just a lot more easier this time and could be even classified as a joke level since like many others I couldn't stop laughing through the level. Don't want to sound mean to the author but there was nothing here that reminded me of the matrix and with all the ammo provided the level was just way too easy and way too hilarious. The only part where I felt challenged was a bloodbath where a ninja innocently peeked behind the corner (or should I say wafer-thin wall?) and started firing at Lara and constantly died till I found out that a bunch of Ninjas attack here from the other side too. A truly weak level I can hardly imagine a more worse one but I'd recommend to give it a try nonetheless for some minutes of laughter." - eTux (18-Jun-2003)
"You know I'd moan about this only I spent my time laughing through this level. You get a ridiculous amount of ammo at the start a ridiculous amount of medpacks a ridiculous lot of boulders and a ridiculous amount of ninjas to shoot (I counted 57) but I may be one or two off because they came fast and furious. When I shot one ninja on top of a tall block I laughed at the way he fell down. When you're not running through long 'vents' climbing long poles and running through huge rooms you're pumping Lara with medpacks while she pumps bullets into the enemy. So if you're feeling down and need a laugh or feeling frustrated and feel like letting off some stream get this level for a quick fix." - CC (12-May-2003)
"I locked the doors pulled out the phone plug and disconnected the doorbell because when I read the readme file I thought I was in for THE TR-shocker of my life and all in a The Matrix-surrounding. Instead however you get an aerobics act by poor Lara picking up a quadrillion pickups that are grouped here and there on the same spot. All this in an environment that does not look THAT bad if there would have been more variation but The Matrix it isn't. A shooter may not be your regular TR-experience and I don't mind playing one but having ninja's appear from nowhere when you killed their preceding brothers is just too unreal. Luckily those explosives do the job very quickly and everyone's happy: you because you end the level quickly them because they don't feel hurt anyway for they are blown into bits instantly (put here your evil laughter). A good level though to release a bit of tension certainly if you just played an impossible level who's creator you wouldn't mind to eat alive (another evil laughter)." - bERT (21-Dec-2002)
"As you find 25 big medi packs at your feet the moment you open your eyes in this short quest you think this is going to be a hell of an adventure but as you get so many powerful weapons with it you only need two or three. The author didn't bother at all with atmosphere or lighting but instead provided countless enemies that have to be killed. There is nothing else to do here the traps at the end didn't work and yet there was one good moment when Lara slid down the first pole and an avalanche of boulders was set loose in a big hangar that was teeming with warriors of the desert." - Dimpfelmoser (11-Nov-2002)
"With a title like that it couldn't be anything else than a 'shoot them to smithereens' level. Not my way of having fun. 05-11-2002" - Gerty (09-Nov-2002)
"Even in a bad level you can sometimes find one or two positive things. In this 10 minutes level there are absolutely none and I don't see any sense in it. The texturing is boring always the same. Rooms are huge and empty not even one deco object except two pole ropes. Right at the start you're busy for nearly one whole minute picking up all those 25(!) medipacks weapons and ammo. When you have finished the pick up you just have to run around and shoot all those baddies that appear out of nothing again and again and again. Ten minutes later it's over - thank God! To my opinion this 'level' is an affront to every player and every level builder." - Sheevah (26-Aug-2002)
"What a bloodbath. What a stupid way to portray our Lady. This is Lara Croft meets B J Blazkowicz." - Torry (01-Aug-2002)
"As the crowd goes wild the victor stands and looks at the scoreboards death count Ninjas 58 - Miss Croft 0 as she reads this though she feels slightly uneasy at receiving the unabashed accolades being rained upon her because not one bead of sweat was shed as each chunk of bloody ninja flew past her head if only her unknown predecessor hadn't dropped all that health and weaponry along the way she might be able to feel a tiny sense of pride at her fighting prowess but she knows there's always a next time and next time she promises to herself to only unholster the pistols....as she walks away she brings her hand from behind her back and uncrosses her fingers." - Sash (21-Jun-2002)
"Well what do you expect when your first action in a level is picking up 25 (!) big medipacks? Yep exactly - shooting shooting and then some more shooting. I did not count the ninjas but it could have been a hundred. And don't worry - there is another room which holds 10 big medipacks along the way. Well I finished after 15 minutes - not much more to say really." - Michael (21-Jun-2002)
"Well this is the first level of the author so I wasn't waiting something special but when I read the readme which said that the level was like Matrix I had to play. Shame nothing similar to Matrix. The author also states the level is very hard so the cheat code should be enabled. But with 40 explosive arrows and 25 large medipacks in the same room this is hard to believe. I probably killed about a hundred baddies using only my explosive arrows. The level would be harder if there weren't those rooms filled with medipacks and ammo. Also the texturization is something that should be worked and there simply is no lighting. PS.: from the 25 large medipacks I just used one!" - Treeble (21-Jun-2002)
"You'll know what to expect right away in this level when in the first room you pickup 25 large health packs the shotgun the crossbow the uzis the revolver and various ammo. Most of the items are on one square so all you have to do is stand there and keep hitting the action button. It looks just like the dance scene from Saturday Night Fever with her arm moving back and forth like that. The enemies aren't the ones I was expecting but there were plenty of them - probably over a hundred. Other than that there's only a few big empty rooms with a few boulder traps hot tiles and underwater tunnels thrown in. Then you find ten more large health packs and it's suddenly over after around fifteen minutes. Really all you need to do here is try to stay alive in this giant shooting gallery." - RaiderGirl (21-Jun-2002)
"Well what can I say about this level. Millions of ninja types appearing as if by magic via the wallpaper and (I am being kind here) an ample supply of goodies to collect. Poor old Lara had a bad back afterwards from all the picking up. Unless you particularly like mass killings then give this a miss." - Doug E (21-Jun-2002)
"A totally pointless level of unbelievable violence. Every weapon available with enough ammo for a whole Tomb Raider series and enough medipacs to supply an army. Not recommended." - Fairy Godfather (21-Jun-2002)
"Not really a level but a collection of steel clad rooms with easily killed Ninjas. Easily killed as you have so much fire power. no real skill in navigating the rooms. So much to pick up a removal van must follow Lara round. Have played far better shoot fests and why the author had to use a fly cheat I don't know but he recons this 'level' was hard!" - Whistle (21-Jun-2002)
"Do I play TombRaider because I enjoy exploration? NO. Do I play because I enjoy solving challenging puzzles? NO. Do I play because I enjoy the varied locations and imaginative texturizations? NO. Do I play because I want a lengthy and absorbing gameplay experience? NO. I PLAY BECAUSE I WANT TO KILL EVERYTHING THAT MOVES! All those people who enjoy the other above mentioned qualities should steer well clear of this one although it does provide a fair amount of (intentional?) laughter." - Orbit Dream (21-Jun-2002)
"No that's not an ace level. It was ehm how shall I put it kind of a joke or I don't know what else to call it. Surely the builder is preparing you for the battle of your life. Excuse me but unless I am blind I didn't find it yes I found some enemies ninjas to be exact in one place all together but the million ammo I've been given all the guns and another million medipacks it was a piece of cake. Please oh please let me take all these home I can use them in some levels I have in mind." - Kristina (21-Jun-2002)
