Until 20 years ago lots of our monks had still lived in this temple near the Great Wall to indulge humbly and peacefully in our religion. But 20 years ago the temple was hijacked by an Italian named Bartoli and his men. They were looking for a special dagger or something like that. But they could not find what they were looking for, so they beat and expelled us from our temple, destroyed our furniture, tore our books off the shelves and burned them. They extinguished the sacred fire in the temple and stole our three holy prayer wheels, because they knew how valuable they were... |
