The adventure starts near the holy site of Phnom Kulen. Lara is looking for the final resting place of Jayarvarman II., founding father of the Khmer Empire. The only agreement between the oldest and later ancient sources is that Jayavarman II. settled on the Phnom Kulen hills north of the later capital Angkor. This the first capital of the Khmer Empire was discovered in 2012. The location of Jayavarman's grave remains unclear to this day. It is said to contain unimaginable treasures and is the origin of numerous myths and legends. A cruel death awaits anyone who dares to disturb the peace of Jayavarman. Lara's curiosity is piqued and she sets off for Phnom Kulen. |
