Around 200 BC, the empire of Sovereign Kanasht flourished in complete secrecy, shielded from the eyes of the ancient world. It was a civilization defined by monumental architecture and unmatched prosperity until it suddenly crumbled into ruin, consumed by internal strife and dark, inexplicable tragedies. According to ancient murals, the empire's downfall began during an excavation deep within a forgotten tomb. There, King Kanasht uncovered a bizarre, glowing amethyst fragment, a remnant of a fallen meteorite. Embedded within the crystal was an unknown, otherworldly element known only as Agony. The fragment granted its wielder terrifying powers, enabling them to bend the minds of others and tear open doorways into parallel realms. But such power came at a devastating cost. As the element took hold, it bound itself to the King's soul, slowly driving him into incurable madness and paranoia, ultimately dragging his entire civilization into utter chaos. Realizing the existential threat the relic posed, high priests and survivors managed to banish and seal the gemstone away, severing it from its conduit the Royal Staff of Kanasht. Now, centuries later, guided by cryptic journal entries and ancient inscriptions, Lara Croft embarks on an expedition into the overgrown ruins and floating islands of Kanasht. Her goal is to unearth the truth behind the lost sovereign and recover the scattered pieces of the artifact before its ancient curse awakens once more. |
