Reviewer's comments
"A pretty short and straightforward raid through an office building. I appreciate the effort put in a few moments, such as the "progressively" flooding elevator shaft and exploding the wall in the helipad terrace, but all in all this was quite underwhelming on every other aspect. I love the load.bmp file. 10 minutes. 11/20" - Treeble (22-Nov-2020)
"For some reason or other, Lara finds herself in a vaguely VCI-ish building, and in order to make it to the roof and thus presumably get out of there, she has to trigger a local explosion which has, however, unexpected repercussions throughout the entire building (among other things, it causes the flooding of a positively humungous elevator shaft).
Exciting stuff, then, and no doubt this played out as thrilling ride in the builder’s mind, but what made it onto the screen is somewhat less than that. Although the basic elements are there and most things work the way the builder intended them to (except the explosive barrel magically reappears, because the builder placed it inside the flipmap that it triggers), no sense of urgency is ever created during the ten minutes or so that this little level lasts, and it all takes place in a very roughly sketched environment consisting mainly of corridors connected to other corridors and painted in various shades of grey (some of the textures look pixelated, like low-res .GIFs). With surprisingly few enemies to battle (or ignore), the distracting presence of wildly out-of-place Egyptian elements that the builder thought fit to use, and the level’s centrepiece being presented in an oddly underwhelming manner (the explosion goes ‘poof’ rather than ‘KA-BOOM’), the onus of investing the imagination necessary to make the level work rests firmly with the player." - Mulf (25-Nov-2019)
"This short level has low ratings, but it's not so bad; At least the architecture and texturization. Good detail in the elevator area; you can't go back up if you don't get the important gem. I expected some more enemies and pickups, missed some puzzles and some secret, but the level is entertaining enough to take a try. Enjoyable." - Jose (25-Jan-2018)
"Well, that ended before it even got started. A brisk canter through some nice looking rooms, picking up a crowbar and climbing ladders where the level finishes on the roof. Not exactly a substantial gameplay experience." - Ryan (03-Feb-2017)
"Rather well applied texturing. Lighting is constant, and the only thing convincing us the action takes place in the night is the black sky. Nice sound. As for so short game, the gameplay is rather rich - we can get on the top of the elevator and blow a hole in the wall to let some water in the shaft. But the puzzles aren't challenging. There is only one gem we have to search for a little bit. The remaining puzzle items just lay down on the floor, right on our way through the game. Objects are not so many, but they are enough to make a feeling of visiting an office skyscraper. SUMMARY: An average, but not boring game. Recommendable." - DJ Full (21-Nov-2010)
"An early attempt at creating an office building level that is falling to bits. And it's hard to tell if it's just crumbling, or whether the gunmen are destroying it - the explosion at the barrel was the best part of the level! I couldn't understand why a gate dropped at the start, except to force the player to go another way. Apart from the usual office rummaging we come across an elevator shaft. Flooding this and diving in later on was good fun. Some moveable crates can't be moved, so what were they there for? And in the end a climb to the roof, where a dog with red torch eyes awaits. Did that last crate do something? I don't know. But we must presume that Lara knew there was a platform or a helicopter waiting when she dived off the building; otherwise it's goodbye forever Lara. Unless the player has a fast connection I'd recommend leaving this one. It took a few minutes to play, but ages to download." - CC (20-Mar-2007)
"The building and level may have been a little rough around the edges but it was still fun to explore for the fifteen minutes it took to blow a hole in a wall find two gems and then make my escape. Lara didn't get to take anything with her but at least she gets away as the building seems to be flooding and falling down around her. The only thing I didn't like was the music at the beginning because it reminded me of my least favorite level to play ever. It's great to see all these new authors creating levels for us to enjoy though." - RaiderGirl (29-Oct-2003)
"I liked the start to this level with the catchy music and setting off the explosion to obtain the crowbar was a lot of fun. I was just settling down to enjoy this VCI style level when it ended? Basically this is more like a short demo than a genuine level. Kill a guard or two find a key and two blue gems - that's about it really. It's well constructed but needs a lot more fleshing out in terms of gameplay. 21.09.2003" - Jay (22-Sep-2003)
"Well for the short level that this is it was quite entertaining. The title movie and opening fly-by did not give much expectation though certainly the fly-by nearly flew off the screen lol. But the suggestion of a big explosion was quite good though you could put some question marks how a big elevator shaft could get filled way up high with water... All in all this author does have some imagination so we may see something bigger from him in the future my guess. But obstain if the big download (due to mp3-files) scares you off. The load screen clearly made with Microsoft Paint (at least that's my guess) was fun: was it made by the kid of this author or is the author himself still a kid?" - bERT (16-Sep-2003)
"This short level takes place in a tower block. (VCI) The enemies are only 2 soldiers 2 ninjas and a dog. I think many more should have been produced from this level but it maybe will be continued. There were several moveable blocks in a store-room but you can't move any of them. In the beginning of the level there was a short corridor in front of the ladder but it was empty. Unfortunately you can't use the lift. You don't need any special skills for completing this level as there are no puzzles. Maybe exploring the barrel is a good idea. And I also loved Lara's suit. You have to find 2 blue Diamonds a key and the Crowbar. The textures are average but I liked the added sounds especially the Indian sitar :-)" - Obig (15-Sep-2003)
"Well it was fast and harmless with no awful errors (apart from one place where it looked to be impossible to continue if you failed to get it right first time); so the low score seems a little harsh. But if you want to while away a spare fifteen minutes you could do a lot worse than this." - Orbit Dream (14-Sep-2003)
"A base level with..... ninjas and a dog with red eyes yuck. Find two blue gems and push a block and the level ends. I just ran through it as it is rather straight forward. Did die one time before picking up the key as the camera angle threw me off. Intentionally no doubt LOL. Come on Mikel you can do better. 06-09-2003" - Gerty (10-Sep-2003)
"This is a short level kind of VCI like but with ninjas apart from a couple of guards. You need two gems and a key to finish the level. I never understood what the moving block was for in the room with the gems also there were two other blocks but you couldn't pull them or push because there was nothing to help them stand on. You get on the roof kill a dog with bright red eyes and the level ends at the edge of the roof top. That wasn't a review but sort of a walkthrough well what else can I say about a level such as this except that the download is big but the game play is poor." - Kristina (09-Sep-2003)
"The only real enemy in this level is time! 12 minutes get to the top of a building that seems to be collapsing 2 guards 2 ninjas 1 demon dog 1 key 2 gems that's it in a nutshell. I liked the effect of blowing the hole in the wall to get the crowbar and loved the cartoon picture of a building with a chopper load screen. For the size of download this is ludicrous!" - Sash (08-Sep-2003)
"A rather short (took me less than 10 minutes to get through and I even stopped sometimes to push the boxes around) and bleak VCI experience with a few guards a ninja and a dog thrown in at various points of the level. The only highlight of the level would undoubtedly be the explosion that broke the wall in and so allowing you to grab the crowbar - also a gem a bit later. The level has no storyline whatsoever behind it as far as I'm concerned so you don't really have an idea what the heck Lara is here for - to destroy a building and kill more people and so make her list of crimes even longer? Also the music that guided you through the first fly-by seemed very familiar to me (those who've played 'Centre of the World' will recognize it) and makes me wonder if the author of that track gave the author if this level the permission to use it as he wasn't credited for it in the readme. Well - not what I call a good level - the author yet has a lot to learn but the players can give this a try if they don't mind a 16 MB download for a 10 minute game-play and enjoyment." - eTux (08-Sep-2003)
"Geez it took longer to download this than to play it. Some of the audio was new stuff to me anyway but much of it was the same TR audio bits that come with the level. I'm seeing this too often: downloading audio as part of a level but it's audio you already have. Seems a waste of bandwidth and server space. Level got off to a rolling start I liked the elevator bit and then it was over. Made me wonder why I bothered." - Duncan (08-Sep-2003)
"This was a small level and relatively easy. I can't say it had much to offer in the way of gameplay because it was so short. At the start there's a nice intro which kind of made you think it was going to be something a bit special but after going through four areas in particular to collect a crowbar two gems a key and no weapons it was all a bit disappointing. Killing three guards and a ninja avoiding some fire and rocks going back up from a collapsing floor and tackling a dog at the end is about all that happens here. Some movable boxes that didn't appear to have any function see through walls and blank spaces like the view from the top of the out side area which was just black with a single brick pillar in the middle of it and the short sharp ending made me wonder if this level was a first attempt if so fair enough! The explosion to the crow bar was about the most interesting thing that happened in the level so that's a plus and earns it some points along with the intro. Rather a half finished job which could have been improved in many places plus no reason behind it Lara merely seems to escape this area with nothing and her visit served no purpose what so ever. I was left asking if I'd installed this correctly because of the lack of level here if that is the case then I will be happy to play it again and change my review." - Moonpooka (07-Sep-2003)
"Short level with nothing specially to do you find key shot on some baddies and that's all." - Yoav (07-Sep-2003)
"A cute little adventure of about 15 minutes play time with a key and two gems to collect in a VCI and warehouse setting. The title flyby and especially the starting flyby are a bit rough around the edges as is most of the architecture and design here but the effect of the explosion is quite nicely done and makes the level worth taking a look at it." - Michael (06-Sep-2003)
