Reviewer's comments |
"Plays nice and easy. Sometimes is too minimal, we mostly stay in small spaces so a medium sized room feels special. Short chapters make it feel fast. Idk the show it's based on, but I can see the tribute was mostly just a few text lines. Maybe the builder could resume the topic in a sequel with serious references." - DJ Full (01-Dec-2024) |

"Thinking about The Dukes of Hazzard TV Serie you imagine cars chases on dusty roads and a soundtrack of country music. I was aware this levelset have nothing to do with all of that, but I was curious to give it a go. Indeed if the author had titled it "Games of Thrones" or "Happy Days" it was the same. The design is a mixture of everything: desert, egypt, coastal, trenches, jungle, there are also some yetis and raptors to complete the oddity. Was it fun? All in all yes, like every oddity, just to relax after a stressing day, but it's way far from being a professional work." - Teone (20-Feb-2022) |

"A set of five short levels which present you a true hodgepodge of anything you can think of. Enemies, textures, objects, it seems everything has been thrown in deliberately. A modern switch opens a sealed gate in a rocky chamber; a quadbike is placed in a warehouse of narrow corridors almost with the intention of getting stuck into a corner (no reverse gear), and, funnily enough, it's not necessary at all; one of those coastal gates with an embedded keylock is used as a remote keylock to disable spikes - but fortunately it doesn't trigger the gate to open into the wall; etc. There's an overbearing fog rendering you blind in a couple of rooms in the second level. I'm stubborn and pushed through it anyway, as the settings I haven't had to mess around with the settings in any of the last 500 levels I've played. A wrong secret trigger towards the end also skyrockets your counter. This kept me busy, but not necessarily entertained. 55 minutes, 8 secrets. 02/22" - Treeble (20-Feb-2022) |

"I'm not familiar with the source material
for this particular level, so I'll
probably end up judging this level on its
own merits. It's not too bad as such, but
in gameplay terms, five levels don't
necessarily equate to more enjoyment, as
this game shows. All of them are
incredibly underwhelming and very simple
to complete and mainly involve gathering
and placing artefacts, pulling switches
and shooting enemies. The texturing didn't
really work for me, as different ones just
seemed thrown together every which way,
and often in an unattractive manner. The
enemies do require some thought and
strategy, but that's about the extent of
thinking required. My version did have a
finish trigger, so presumably the download
has since been revised." - Ryan (28-Jan-2018) |

"This is another level I downloaded simply because I liked the name! I had such a crush on Bo Duke when I was younger! So how disappointed was I when he didn't make an appearance? Although one of the goons did look like Uncle Jesse. Never mind, I would have been distraught if I had had to shoot Bo! So I had to console myself with shooting the yetis and raptors instead. Yes, I said yetis and raptors! Not too many of them in Georgia, I'd have thought, but this was an after thought because while playing the game I didn't question it at all. {Although that statement probably says more about me than it does about the level.} There isn't anything too difficult to do and it speeds along at quite a pace and is fun. {That is at least like the Duke boys!} And there was"Daisy's key" to pick up, so some Duke references do pop up during play. I thought the areas were built quite well and textured and lit very nicely. And the secrets were very easy to find, which isn't always a bad thing: we all like to collect secrets. And even though the levels flow from one to the other quite nicely there is no finish trigger. So this level; set has good points and it has bad points - But I do think the good points outweight the bad." - Kitkat (31-Jul-2007) |

"Yes, it's not a professional set of levels, but there's some work behind. This levels can be played from everybody, easy to play but there aren't interesting puzzles. Secrets are very innocent. Only a few comments: In first level, the author doesn't must let the player continue without the token, 'cause once in the room with the crocodiles you can't go back and have to reload. In second level is hard to advance through the green fog, you have to move yourself like a blind man. At the end of third level the raptors disappear if you go back behind the door you've trespass (?). At the end of fourth level there's a bug which allows you to modify the number of secrets in your statistics :O. Last level is a real shooter, there are a lot of soldiers to kill, and after ten minutes I found several places with nothing to do and finally slide down a slope and I had to abandone the level 'cause I didn't know how to continue (?) Is there a finish trigger?" - Jose (26-Jul-2006) |

"This, level to me has nothing to do with the title, NO General Lee, Daisy, (unless that is in fact Lara), and the only trace I could find of the Dukes, was only Daises keys. Ok it was a good run round various scenarios collecting bits of jewellery etc to get through doors etc, and did include the usual climbing, swinging and swimming, but no Dukes. I even thought I would ride a quad but no, walkies again. Plenty of bats, thugs Yetis, dogs, raptors and crocs to take care of and also plenty of ammo and weapons etc to pick up. No really large puzzles just small block moving types, and the secrets were not particularly hard to find. The lighting and atmosphere was sound with a good mixture of light and dark areas. The graphics to start with were fine, but constant repeats of the same textures did rather detract from moving from one place to another. Sound was fine with some variations on the standard themes for the musak. All in all not a bad level to play." - Whistle (12-Jul-2006) |

"I was drawn to the title of this one as I used to enjoy the Dukes of Hazzard (yes, I am that old) but I have to say there's not really a Dukes vibe going on here at all, or at any rate I don't remember any yetis, jackals and dinos interacting with good old Bo and Luke much, nor did all the messing about in caves ring any bells. Not a bad level - easy and linear and pleasant to look at - but if you're thinking of downloading it for some Dukes action you'll merely have to content yourself with picking up 'Daisy's keys'." - Jay (19-Jun-2006) |

"It is a real shame that there wasn't anything remotely in this level what had anything to do with Bo, Luke and Daisy. Of course the fans of the Dukes of Hazzard will jump for joy seeing the tile, but that is just it the title and nothing more. The game on itself is rather straight forward and nothing too strenuous. I was really surprised when downloading it that there was no finishing trigger as being one of the beta testers I tested about 4 or 5 times the changes he made and the finishing trigger was there in all of them. There was still an invisible door in from of a door that had to be opened and also you didn't need the Daisy Key as you could shoot the lock and that had the same effect" - Gerty (11-Jun-2006) |

"I leapt upon this short level series with great enthusiasm, because you know what? I spent much of last year compiling my own Dukes of Hazzard website when I should have been building Custom levels, and therefore consider myself something of an expert on the Dukes as well as Tombraider. Imagine my delight upon discovering that someone had actually managed to combine the two.
Well,my delight gradually faded as I played this. It's not too bad from a technical point-of-view,but the Gameplay is all "full ahead;don't stop to think";the secrets are so in your face that they're unintentionally amusing;there's no end-of-level Trigger;and most importantly,it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Dukes of Hazzard. However,it has at least allowed me to advertise my own Dukes website; it's at www.Dukefarm.co.uk - if you're interested.(Go on,you know you are...you can read reviews of every episode, written in my own inimitable style.) Anyway, getting back to this level I can only assume that Lara gets to drive the General Lee and encounter Bo and Luke in the sequel.Until then you're probably best advised to play something else." - Orbit Dream (10-Jun-2006) |

"I happen to not know the series that gave these levels its name and maybe that's a good thing (reading some of the other reviews). I actually found the first of the five parts the most engaging with quite a bit of back and forth, a gem, a portal guardian, a star and a coin to find, even a short timed sequence and a short quad bike ride. After that it turns out to be a bit linear and rather boring. Each of the parts is 10 to 15 minutes long only. The second part has a rather weird mix of textures, part three a lot of enemies (raptors, bats and dogs), part four offers a small puzzle with a pushable object and the last part has you shoot a dozen soldiers before dropping into a rather sudden ending in the water. Not a bad series, but I would recommend to Daniel to rather spend the amount of time he spent on these five parts on a single level and I am sure the result will be much better." - MichaelP (10-Jun-2006) |

"The level seems to be about the old TV series. But I could find anything linked to that TV series, maybe only the Bikers and there wasn't much to do also. A Quad could be driven just around a corner, there were plenty of enemies, but that was about the hardest thing in the whole level. The ending was strange to say the least, he could have put a sign on the wall like"the end" so that you at least knew you were there. Texturing was done with great haste in my opinion, no real attention was paid to lining them up nicely. Some sounds were wrong. Like the harp sound when a pool flooded and on the roof where you get Secret 8 the sound was messed up too. I know I was one of the testers, but when we got the last files for testing my PC went crazy so I couldn't do the last beta version. Average level in my opinion, but with an end like that way below average..." - Dutchy (09-Jun-2006) |

"No, you didn't. You can't name a level after the Dukes of Hazzards tv show and then place absolutely nothing remotely akin to them in the level, well actually I lie, there is a certain enemy that looks uncannily like Uncle Jesse but surely he wouldn't have a bone to pick with Lara, so maybe that bumpkin was one of Boss Hogg's pet cretins. Anyhow in this 5 levelled game, each lasting around 15 minutes, you're main goal is to just keep going forward and that isn't hard as there are really no puzzles to find and the only thing that actually stopped Lara for a few moments was battling whatever enemy popped up, and that odd array of enemies consisted of jackals, crocs, yetis, raptors, skeletons and those guys I mentioned earlier. To top it all off there is no finish trigger but two different routes to go that both lead to dead ends. I feel like there really needed to be some thinking moments to make Lara stop and have to ponder on solutions once in a while as just running through levels doesn't engage the player enough, well at least it doesn't for me. I found 9 secrets." - Sash (07-Jun-2006) |

"There are several parts to this game, caves which don't look much like it, something about a Bo and Luke level to mention a couple but each of them are easy enough to complete. The setting is mixed up and I can't define it, it looks like Egyptian with kind of a jungle influence but not exactly. There are dogs and bats to fight, a star, gems, a portal guardian and other items to get and use with areas that include traps as well which are easy to overcome though. I got five secrets but no crossbow. I found no finishing trigger but a dead end after sliding down and ending up inside a small pool. I think this could have been better and there is no excuse when you forget a finishing trigger." - Kristina (07-Jun-2006) |

"This four part level adventure kept me occupied for just about over an hour in game-play. During your exploration of these levels, you are in search of several important items, which will allow you to succeed in this mission which lay's ahead of you. You will be searching for items like the Ornate Handle, Hathor Effigy, Lukes Diamond, Guardian Keys, Bacartouche, Crowbar, a Star, a Token and a few Gems, just to mention a few. All of which are fairly easily to find, so most raiders should have no problem in locating them during your quest here. Along your journey you will encounter traps, like spikes, lava rooms, timed runs, breakable tiles, trigger tiles and spiked balls, nothing to tedious and quite easy to master and overcome, which allows you to continue on with your journey throughout these levels. Many enemies will be crossing you path, like guards, yetis, bats, dogs, raptures and crocodiles, all doing there utmost best in trying to stop you in completing your mission here, but all enemies are fairly easy to over come and is no match for our good old Lara, as she has a good supply of weaponry which allows her to eliminate and dispose of them fairly quickly and with ease. In General, this is a fairly straight forward and linear set of levels to play, which most raiders should enjoy and accomplish with ease. Saying this, and by no means am I knocking the builder here, but I do feel more puzzles could have been included during this four part adventure, just to spice things up a bit and make this adventure that little bit more challenging for us raiders to play. This builder has created some really good rooms here, with some excellent choice of textures and lighting, but sadly most of them were without any objects in and there was nothing to do in them, which lacked a lot goal seeking in that department. This I felt was a shame, as I would have liked to have seen more challenges, more puzzles and tasks to deal with as you entered each room, as you progressed throughout these set of levels. On the whole, I really liked playing this adventure set, which was given to us by this author and you can see that the author does have some really good ideas to create such wonderful levels for us raiders to play, just by adding a few more puzzles, challenges and tasks I would have enjoyed this adventure even more." - Gill (06-Jun-2006) |
