Reviewer's comments
"An hour which felt very long because of slow actions, backtracks and flat light. The interesting core was much shorter. The topic has a ton of unused possibilities, and the level itself has elements which give ideas - you could have giving a beach ball for a kid, prying a crowbar starfish, cleaning the water after the visitors, searching for the lost flippers and more. It's one of those levels which deserve a remake. For now, optional." - DJ Full (02-Oct-2024)
"This reminds me of early 2001 levels with the odd colorful textures combined with a dreaded city.wad feeling (dirty SAS soldiers and the background audio), not to mention the rooms are mostly empty and there's a lot of running, crawling and swimming around in maze-like areas or staight up mazes as you search for the next open door. Thankfully Harry had already laid out the whole thing so I didn't need to roam around aimlessly, but even then I felt this had outstayed its welcome long before it actually ended. Lighting is also flat for the most part, so it's neither an engaging raid nor a pretty one. The setting is unique, don't remember seeing a swimming club before, but it's not enough to hold this on its own I'm afraid. Also be warned there are a couple of rats on the first crawlspace you come across, I managed to squeeze out but not before suffering enough damage to make me upset. 45 minutes. 05/23" - Treeble (28-May-2023)
"This level was an ok level to be honest. It had a lot to like about it, but also a lot to go crazy over. All in all, it was a solid ok experience, just above average. Gameplay and Puzzles - were a little erratic and out of place in many areas. However, some were very clever. Like the maths questions and the block puzzle at the beginning. The underwater sections i could have had less of, but they matched the theming of the level so not bad. Enemies objects and secrets - were very average for what i expect in a TRLE, and that is good for the most part, but nothing groundbreaking. Atmosphere, Sound and Cameras - the location itself was a fun concept i liked it alot, and for the time was executed fairly well. However, the Cairo creepy music felt out of place... or did it? The pool building wasn't particularly convention-able. Lighting and textures - the lighting was very flat, but the textures, although odd in places, did stick to a correct format so i wasn't deterred by it. Conclusion - a very ok level that is easy to play." - JimmyBeon (14-Jun-2021)
"lara has gone out for a day exploring around a deserted leisure centre it looks like, with lovely colored pools indoor and outside, some saunas and shower rooms in what would seem a simple friendly environment to find switches to open doors in and it definitely starts off that way but then gets a lot more interesting, with timed runs, platforming puzzles, spike, fire and boulder traps, some ropes and poles to swing and slide on and what with some sas men and giants rats to contend with as well i certainly wasnt bored! some slightly irritating things was the boring background sound theme, with no other music at all was disappointing, some of the backtracking got a bit tedious and not knowing sometimes what door opened after you hit a switch, but mostly i just had a real good time exploring here, definitely a level id revisit" - John (13-Jun-2021)
"A nice level around this leisure centre called Aqualand however, I was kind of expecting a relaxing level but that was thrown out the window with guards, spikes and fire traps everywhere however it looks so Nice and somewhere i'd like to go to for a swim. Lara also seems to enjoy breaking rules with the No Shoes and No running signs." - JoeTheCrazyGamer (15-Dec-2017)
"The overall setting of this level is nice. A cheerful recreation of a sports, health and leisure facilities complete with showers, swimming pools, saunas and cute use of custom objects. The gameplay is rather routine and the mazes were fairly tedious, as was the backtracking, but, in general, it was pleasant, if a little too easy." - Ryan (06-Nov-2016)
"This seems very different compared to the other level of this builder I played. You kill a few baddies which make water noises when shooting, and rats which block your way, and press switches which don't have the correct switch animations. There is a timed run too. The texturing is generally ok, it reminds you of a different places, such as a holiday resort, office and Lara's home, and the lighting is too bright or too dark, the computer object is far too big, and instead of having proper objects, they're just textured on the walls. The best areas for gameplkay were near the beginning, and best area for texturing is later on especially the children's swimming pool." - sonnyd83 (08-May-2012)
"This was probably the first TR 4 game I played from trle.net, at this time having had luck this worked without installing it (didn't know how to do then). All I remember is that this level had very interesting swimming pool center textures with many signs, lovely objects inside and outside, even if not so much else than running around and opening the next door can be done there; but, I think, the variety of the different areas in the center and the exploration were quite satisfying enough. Many reviewers have mentioned the long corridors you have to run through and I agree, there were too many, exspecially the underwater passages were sometimes getting annoying much, but I found - even if they don't fit - the SAS were placed quite well in this level so there always were few little shock moments in this level." - manarch2 (01-Aug-2011)
"Long crawlspaces, long diving parts (with no airholes), millions of doors to open and a lot of running back and fro are the weak points in this level. Gameplay-wise it is not much more than that. And this is a pity because the settings are so nice within and around this well designed spa-like area with pools, massage rooms, a kids playground and more. But all this running around, opening doors and shooting a guard now and then, was a little tiresome in the end, so I wasn't too disappointed when I reached the end of the level after 50 minutes." - Jerry (11-Jul-2009)
"A generally very pleasant and easy 45 minute raid inside and around 'Aqualand', some kind of a wellness center with fitness area, sauna, planty of pools and plenty of WCs as well. It is spoiled a bit though by some unnecessary long crawl passages, the lack of the occasional additional camera to point you in the right direction and the fact that somehow the dozen or so guards you get to shoot did not really fit into the otherwise so colourful and friendly setting." - MichaelP (11-Mar-2008)
"This level is very colourful, with a lot of new textures and objects, but for me was very tedious. Too much switches to open too much doors, some soldiers to shoot, very few puzzles and many mazes to make the game more tedious. At least, guns and ammo were enough for me and there are enough flares to use in the urderground area too. Although there are cameras to help you when you pull a switch and the door is far, there are a lot of doors you left back and it's easy to get disoriented. Lights are not very worked, too much light in the beginning rooms all lightened the same way, and too much dark in the underground rooms. Although the level is well builded, it's not the kind of levels I like." - Jose (27-Nov-2007)
"This plays out like a routine, straightforward and linear (but with a fair amount of backtracking) level, but when it was all over I found to my surprise that I had exceeded one hour on my game clock. The lighting is fine, even garish perhaps, and the surroundings are somewhat modernistic, certainly nothing to write home about. It's okay for a diversion, but definitely not for your must-play list." - Phil (22-Nov-2007)
"Not needed the TR4 file that is included and I had no clue what did what but this summer resort is vast and remember where you saw a door. This is a level that needs more camera work as I have been running around like an idiot. Prolonging the gameplay unnecessary, in my opinion. But Lara comes to the rescue of all the children that will have a great holiday in this resort; at least she took away all the dangerous ammo and weapons that were lying around. Well I am a romantic at heart (sometimes though). But later you then find out why Lara needed the ammo and the weapons, so Lara Croft came to the rescue once more.." - Gerty (22-Nov-2007)
"This was a nice little adventure with many nice areas where I liked the outside atmosphere greatly, but some of the areas were pretty plain. Gameplay was basic and there were a couple of puzzles to get through. The floor lever puzzle really didn't make a lot of sense at all. The forum said you need to throw all the levers but the number 24, but I threw just a few and the door opened. Another really annoying aspect of the level was the usage of a non-Windows XP patched execute. I realize the builder may not have an XP computer, but it would be nice in the future if an XP patched exe. would be made available. Waiting and waiting for your game to load is extremely annoying. Other than that, the level was enjoyable and worth playing." - Shandroid (20-Nov-2007)
"Plot-wise this was a strange level. It takes place in a sort of indoor water park with surrounding outdoor gardens. There are various swimming pools everywhere you turn. And it's full of machine-gun and grenade-launcher wielding guards. And even though the place looks so fun and playful, there's haunting sort of sound effects throughout the entire level. It's basically a lot of mazes and lever/switch puzzles in order to find a flower at the end. The decor is a lot of fun. The author went to a lot of trouble to make each of the various swimming pool rooms color-themed and decor-themed. it made me wish there really was such an indoor water park. The only complaints i would have would be: (1) There could've been some more music added, especially to go with the water park theme. (2) There was a couple places where you had to do some major, lengthy back-tracking. (3) The ending was very anti-climactic." - drguycrain (19-Nov-2007)
"First of all, this level is playable on the mac, just ignore the .exe. This level looks charming, and Lara is dressed in a nice outfit. Cleanly applied new textures, nice objects, in a bright and airy swimming pool holiday type complex. And deceptively innocent it all looks, especially when we go into the kiddies room and outside play area. Loved the idea of hiding the lasersight in the sand pit, the balls floating in the water, and the movable block with the junior level mathematics puzzle to solve. Then we pick up ammo and know that all is not as it should be. It's not because this action opens a door, but we suddenly realise the place is empty, and now we know why. A gang of gunmen have arrived to spoil the fun. Not sure if this is an initiation trial where we are allowed to join the club if we find the prize, but we certainly have a few things to do to get there. The most pleasant of which is making our way through some beautiful rooms with unusual architecture, ropeswinging and climbing a plant. Things become more serious when we have to dodge spikes, boulders, circular blades and kill the gunmen. It's been said before, but I'll say it again, rats attacking in a crawlspace is unfair, even if the rest of a level is pretty easy, and especially if they don't disappear. The mac had the same problem here as with this auhor's last level... textures will disappear on reloading, but appear again after another reload. Another good level by this author, but I feel it would have been more appropriate for the Easter version of the Advent Calender levels... without the gunmen, rats and traps that is." - CC (12-Nov-2007)
"One could expect something a little brighter from a little summer adventure... It's a nice offer overall or I wouldn't have played it to the end but let's face it: no music and no sounds except for the sound of Lara's footsteps; a serious lot of unnecessary backtracking; mostly based on using levers and switches that work like levers; an exaggeration of underwater labyrinths plus crawling labyrinths (with rats at one moment!); too many grey walls at times, namely where it's hard to see a crack on the wall due precisely to that; and most of all - a Tomb4 exe that loads horribly slowly making it all a nightmarish experience. Does that sound very bad? Well, it's all true but it's not all that bad. For some strange reason, I liked it. Perhaps because it doesn't have any major flaws apart from those and perhaps because it's not the old catacomb/tomb/temple level that we're all too used to by now. I can't downrate it much but neither do I feel like playing it again." - Jorge22 (10-Nov-2007)
"The setting in this game is pretty much like a base one but not quite. The main colour is gray and there are a lot of pools and even more doors to open. That is the kind of gameplay you will see here, just doors to open and a confusing main area. The two mice inside the crawlspaces were a very bad idea, especially if you are unlucky and kill them in the narrow openings. That's it actually with some SAS as enemies and spikes as traps. Give it a try but don't expect too much." - Kristina (05-Nov-2007)
"An original level with many new textures and nice objects for the decor. It is all about discovering new areas , gardens , swimming pools, and undergrounds, in some of the rooms there is nothing to do except picking up something, in others a puzzle or a switch , and sometimes traps. There is no difficult tasks, hints are written on the walls for the few puzzles. Not really my type of level, and not very atmospheric but it is well made. SAS and a couple of rats are the enemies , the level ends abruptly." - eRIC (03-Nov-2007)
"In appearance, this level is bright and zestful; it's just a shame that Gameplay is almost entirely dependant on the "push a lever which opens a door to a previously locked room absolutely miles away, back near the start of the level" ethos, which does little except pad out the duration. There are some delightful thinking puzzles scattered around here-and-there,and a wealth of charming custom objects and textures which combine to create a good-humoured depiction of a slightly off-the-wall (but very well constructed) Health Club; all of which go quite some way to offset the occasional tedium of the back-and-forth gameplay. I reccomend this (with reservations) for an hour so of reasonable fun." - Orbit Dream (01-Nov-2007)
"I see this is classed as a 'home' level, but it certainly isn't the mansion. I'm not quite sure what the building is supposed to be but it has a lot of loos (always a good thing), showers, sauna, pools etc. Well the subtitle is Aqualand so I suppose it's some enormous swimming pool complex. It's a bright and cheerful little level, which I found rather charming for the most part, although there is a short section with a dark maze and rather a lot of shooting of guards that seemed a bit out of step with the rest of if. Nothing at all difficult in the way of gameplay but it has some nice touches and kept me amused enough for over an hour. The end seemed somewhat abrupt - just as you go to pick up a flower the whole thing finishes. Perhaps there is a sequel planned." - Jay (01-Nov-2007)
