"If you're new to a Talos level, and want a relatively brief yet comprehensive experience of her
work, this is as good a place to come as any. It's a pretty compact playing area - which you'll be
backtracking through uncountable times. It's beautifully textured and lit,and absolutely filled
with quirky and imaginative (at times, completely endearing) ideas. Objects are creatively
placed;in particular, the whole environment is filled with those types of motionless characters who
refuse to show any signs of life until Lara has completed some sort of fetch quest for them. Most
of the time,it's pretty easy to determine which objects to fetch and which character to give them
to;but toward the end,it becomes somewhat ridiculous - you need to place a collection of gifts
somewhere within the map...but would it beneath one of the five Christmas trees? Among one of the
many piles of gifts scattered about the place? On a table, perhaps? I resisted the urge to consult
the Walkthrough - which explains why this short adventure took me twice as long to complete as it
really ought.
It's peaceful and seasonal fun, though. It even has a Pirate galleon. No Advent level should be
without a Pirate galleon!" - Orbit Dream (17-Dec-2021) |

"Lovely sentiment, story and good textures and lighting backed up by great atmosphere
here in this short little festive hunt around small buildings or houses set in all that
gorgeous snow environment. unfortunately it just wasnt enough for me to be enjoyable and
that is because of the gameplay which i thought was both irritating and boring. its all
about finding items to place in obscure places, sometimes combining them sometimes not,
theres plenty of switches and keys as well. it all fits very nicely into the story but i
just felt underwhelmed by lack of puzzles or exploration of interesting areas, even some
platforming or swimming/climbing would of broke things up a bit but apart from lighting
fireplaces with torches as well thats all this level has to offer" - John (19-Aug-2021) |

"On my journey through Talos' work, this one follows the same usual style, just as his
other work, so you have a bit of a story, explore rooms full of nice objects, get sent
around back and forth a lot but on quick paths in order to complete your chores: feed
the cat, play a harp, make some tea, place gifts and light fireplaces. This time there
are two secrets and a personal message at the end. Very short, but atmospheric raid of
about 20 minutes, just remember to check for which things in your inventory you might be
able to combine." - MichaelP (16-Aug-2021) |

"Lara helps light a few fireplaces so she can get a sailor his compass. To do this she will explore a few homes and a bar in a small village square. It is certainly structured in a cozy way, but the different homes started to blend together as I played and it would have been nice to get a bit more variety in the environment. In terms of gameplay Lara is on a pure scavenger hunt for several keys and gifts to open doors with, as well as a torch. It was difficult to determine where the gifts belonged, some sort of hint for that would have been nice. Although the level didn't have much meat to it, the ending flyby was quite satisfying. 28 minutes." - JesseG (30-Dec-2020) |

"Gameplay and Puzzles: This level was quite hard to finish, I had to take a look to the walkthrough several times, but the level was not bad at all. Gameplay was quite obscure, hard to understand what to do, how to place things like the gift boxes. It took me few seconds to understand that I had to combine the the Ice Pick with the empty box. Puzzles were quite classic too. Enemies, Objects and Secrets: This level is a xmas one, so no enemies. Objects were for some quite good, and some were not good, I hope that someday people will make "new" xmas objects, because once again I found the cup of tea to place on the cooker. Once again the mug was half Laras size. Secrets were nice, found 2. Atmosphere, Sound and Cameras: atmosphere was quite nice, same for the sound, the cameras were not that good, too close to the target, so it was hard to find out where it was. Lighting and Textures: Lighting was quite nice, but the texture were not always correctly placed, trapezoid shape for instance. Also there were a lot of cracks. To sum up, this level is not bad at all, quite short but ok, the problem like in some other xmas levels there is a lot of illogical gameplay, but it was ok." - Lara_Fox_Croft (07-Jan-2018) |

"A great little Xmas level made by Talos
The gameplay was similar to her others levels, which is
always good for me, just find some objects, doing some
little puzzles and exploring areas for keep going on her
way to help Santa Sailor (which this time is a pirate).
Objects were great and I really liked one of the secret,
showing Talos's father on the TV
The atmosphere was really Xmas, I loved that little town
with it's few inhabitants :)
And also Lighing and textures were great, that blue-ish,
snowy colour outside, and that orange-ish, warm colour
inside the houses.
The final text it's also a nice touch for who lost
someone important in his/her life, but also for who
didn't, and to love them as much as you can.
I hope this builder keeps doing some more levels, since
it's always a pleasure playing those! :)" - LoreRaider (01-Jan-2018) |

"This builder consistently gives us top-flight entertainment, and this delightful Christmas level is no exception. There's quite a bit of back and forth as you open up new areas in the house and in the outdoor courtyard, but the game map is so compact that the backtracking never became more than mildly annoying for me. You meet the eponymous sailor at the very beginning, but you have to perform many tasks and open a plethora of doors before you finally obtain the compass that you offer him to finish the level. In between you're treated to a seasonal romp that I found to be quite fun to play. There are no enemies, and few pickups other than the artifacts that are required for progression. Lighting is perfect, and I never once had to use a flare. An enchanting aid." - Phil (24-Dec-2017) |

"This is an attractive seasonal holiday
raid, and one that contains progression
within a generally confined area. There's
quite a large amount of backtracking to
perform, but usually you're never too far
away from where your next destination is.
The level ends fairly quickly upon finding
Santa's (?) compass and overall this was a
pleasant Christmas level with an emotional
attachment to it." - Ryan (23-Dec-2017) |

"Thankfully I played Elke's city level before this one because
otherwise I could be plainly stuck with the tea mug puzzle.
The whole rest was short, sweet and brilliant, I love small
areas which reduce amount of running and don't get me stuck
for long, and even though I didn't really miss anything in
this cute map I still got an ending cutscene. Puzzles are
bonkers but I blame this on Xmas magic and enjoy anyway,
though I'm still waiting for a torch to melt down a snowman
for a waterskin load. Recommended." - DJ Full (22-Dec-2017) |

"A beautiful Christmas level. The atmosphere looked amazing!
The textures were very nice. I felt the level was
challenging enough in terms of where to look for an item or
what to do with the item. I liked how I got to enjoy the
Christmas theme while using my investigative skills.
Overall, I'm a fan of Talos' levels and this one was
another awesome level!" - Victoria (22-Dec-2017) |

"This is a short and sweet little raid with a nice story included.
Santa which in this level is a sailor needs a compass to be able to sail the seas and find his way around so he sends you to find one for him.
The small part of the town we are allowed to see is charming and filled with custom objects, while the looks are rather nice i sadly can't say the same about the gameplay which is quite simple and lacks a few puzzles in my opinion. The mighty pirates in the bar was a nice addition. It all ends with a pretty awesome cutscene that you just have to see yourself. The level is enjoyable enough for this time of the year :)" - totizedger (21-Dec-2017) |

"I can almost copy and paste my other reviews for Erika's levels here, as this is yet again a sweet, charming and rather atmospheric level with many great custom objects in a tiny space with gameplay that is too heavily relying on finding and using objects and there are few to no puzzles at all for a change (not even speaking of other tasks, which agreeably might not fit to the style of the level). Thus, I can't rate it higher or it would be unfair to builders who really try to add variety in the gameplay. The final cutscene is worth mentioning, as it's a very nice conclusion. Also, the two secrets are well enough hidden and despite of the issues concerning gameplay the 10 minutes are enjoyable at least for the season." - manarch2 (20-Dec-2017) |

"This is a fun little Christmas adventure with a twist. Well, everything is better with pirates, right? Right. It's a pleasant atmosphere and Lara gets to do plenty of running around, lighting fires and finding a gift or two, but the main objective is to find Santa's compass. It's undemanding and gentle, as befits the genre and took me approximately an hour. It probably would have been quite a bit quicker if I hadn't consistently failed to notice the axe in a corner of a room, but I did at least, for once, find all the secrets. Yes, I know there were only two, but I'm counting it anyway! Lovely." - Jay (20-Dec-2017) |

"The thing I don't approve in this level is that it ends too
quickly - the tasks are fun, but you don't face any real
puzzles. I enjoyed exploring the rooms and finding
different custom-made items that by the way looked amazing,
but I thought it was just a warm up for the actual part of
the level...and then you hit the finish trigger. I still
loved it though, everything else is fantastic, although I
wish there were more Christmas tunes included and sometimes
the backtracking may get tedious. The rooms were decorated
beautifully. I think the idea of the level being a tribute
for the deceased is something to admire! A short, but still
highly enjoyable and visually pleasing holiday raid." - misho98 (20-Dec-2017) |

"A nice little level with the pirate's touch and loads of
back and fro, fortunately in a small area, with clear
enough hints of which door has just opened and so on. Not
really innovative (except for the different animation used
in a certain drawer, which is, I must say, an unfair
innovation) but certainly imaginative. I found a particular
sequence to be rather on the morbid side... but everything
else actually feels like a Christmas gift, so thank you,
Talos, and Merry Christmas." - Jorge22 (19-Dec-2017) |

"Another very well designed level, which here we are in a town near to the sea in a Christmas mood. This short level is very enjoyable and rich of decorations, the Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer's music of the third world of Winter Tundra in the beginning of the level gives a magic touch to the adventure and there is the absence of enemies. Relaxing and enjoyable, anti-stressing therapy. Completely recommended." - AlexCroft (19-Dec-2017) |

"Another good level from Talos. This time the level is short, but enjoyable anyway. As usual in this Christmas levels, no enemies to shoot and a peaceful environment. Sometimes difficult to play 'cause you never know what objects you can interact with, where to use the new objects you find or what objects you can shoot. In that sense, I missed some more camera shots when picking up the items so players can know where to go. Found only one secret. Anyway, a solid Christmas level with a good history very worth to play to spend an entertaining time in this special dates. Thanks, Talos, for this new work. Recommended." - Jose (19-Dec-2017) |
