Reviewer's comments
"Welcome to the forgotten island, where there are all sorts of creatures and traps to contend with, on top of timed runs and some tricky torch transportation. There is a nice switch puzzle where Lara configures symbols to open the matching doors. There is also a nice little pushblock puzzle combined with a flood lever. The adventure is not easy going, but I enjoyed the challenge. Really the only criticism I have of the gameplay is the T-Rex encounter, which rubbed me the wrong way. Instead of attacking the monster, Lara has to suffer its presence while pushing a block under a switch and grabbing two masks to escape it. I would have much preferred being able to attack it, or have some way of stunning it. At least some medpacks were placed in the area to help Lara survive a good number of bites. The visuals are done well, good use of fog and a nice combination of Tinnos and jungle textures. 1 hour 2 minutes." - JesseG (14-Jan-2022)
"A very proper, classic raid with "nothing too much, nothing too little". I have to take some points for crude shapes, minimal texturing, unbalanced combat and unresolved pickup ending, but the real reason why this level isn't 9+ overall is - for a millionth time - the wrong SFX. Please, don't release broken levels, because it both ruins my time as a player and yours as a builder, especially if a level is that good and doesn't deserve to be rated that low. Recommended." - DJ Full (27-Jun-2019)
"Excellent jungle level of samu with a final fight with the big boss it is better to take the right direction. Some quick races but nothing impossible. Texturing and lighting are correct. Recommended" - Drakan (29-Nov-2018)
"This is definitely one that will put experienced players through their paces. The gameplay is definitely varied and ingenious, but some of the timed runs and traps are tricky and devious (particularly the spinning spiked columns) and will undoubtedly separate the men from the boys. Thankfully I was able to make it all the way through in 54 minutes without having to resort to a savegame. The jungle environments are picturesque and beautifully textured, although the inside areas are a little on the gloomy side in terms of lighting. Music and flybys are also well used. Enemies are fairly scarce, which is fortunate because ammo is too. It certainly gave me a good workout and I thought that the T-Rex fight at the end was a very nice touch." - Ryan (23-Sep-2018)
"What can we say about this professional builder? As usual an extraordinary design, taking much care with the texturization and lighting to create perfect environments. A good use of cameras, flybys and musics; and only the necessary pickups to reach the end of the level, but in this case the ammo for the uzis was very scarce. Unfortunately there are still very hard tasks where you'll need to reload and reload many times until you are successful. Indeed there are some original and fresh puzzles I enjoyed, like the chains with the symbols or the water area with movable blocks, and if you get tired you can always use one of the G&D's savegames in last case so I recommend you take a try with this challenging level." - Jose (03-Aug-2018)
"Definitely not for the faint-hearted, this one. It's very good, but some of the timed elements are tight and one particular timed trap door run defeated me utterly. Luckily, my husband came in handy yet again (and I find it particularly galling that I play every day, he hardly ever plays at all anymore and he's STILL so much better at it than I am. However ...). This is a lush and attractive jungle setting for the most part and the gameplay is a good mix of interesting puzzles and the aforementioned occasionally rather challenging agility tests. I did enjoy the traps that involved avoiding those moving spike columns. All in all, most enjoyable and the boss ending with the T-Rex is definitely different." - Jay (02-Jul-2018)
"I have a weak spot for jungle levels and was quite excited to play this one - it turned out as good as I expected it to be. Even though some of the timed runs were a big tricky and potentially frustrating, they were still entertaining enough to keep you going. The T-Rex part was quite challenging too but it was the best possible way to end the level. Beautiful visuals and lovely atmosphere, reminiscent to the classics. Highly recommended!" - misho98 (06-Jun-2018)
"I have mixed feelings with this level. On one hand I had a great time exploring where to go and what to do but almost at the start I was put off by the gloominess (read dark) and had to use flares, which were in short supply at the start. You will find more much later but it already ruined my mood. There are some good ideas and the ending where you meet a T-Rex is cunning. There are some nasty timed runs and traps and I for one am glad that Dutchy could so some of them for me. Textures could use some more attention but the hunt for secrets are nice." - Gerty (05-Jun-2018)
"I'll get the negatives out the way first. The game is annoyingly dark almost from start to finish, especially in those ubiquitous tunnels and hallways. Insufficient flares are provided to remedy this defect, so I conjured up an unlimited supply early on so I could see what I was supposed to be doing. Instead of rewarding the player with a useless gem for finding each of the four well-placed secrets, the builder would have been better advised to stick some flares in there. Other than that, the level provides more than an hour of action-packed raiding that at times will test the skills of an expert, capped by a harrowing encounter with a T-Rex possessed of uncharacteristic speed, stamina and AI. This concluding part, by the way, is well lighted, perhaps the only such segment in the entire level. There are lots of other potentially lethal traps that must be conquered along the way, explained in clear fashion in Dutchy's walkthrough, and the builder has given us some mind-bending puzzles and clever jump sequences as well. It's certainly a good level, but with a little more attention to lighting it could have been a great one." - Phil (01-Jun-2018)
"The gameplay in this level is really nicely varied and is challenging enough to keep interest even if it's a fairly linear level. The traps, timed runs and jump sequences are all very cleverly set up and the (slightly fewer) puzzles are also fun, especially the one with the four ropes - even if the climbing up and down was a bit tedious. Surviving the boss "fight" is also a nice puzzle in itself. Except of this, the few other enemies are decently placed, but not too much has been done with objects. The four secrets are a bit placed as an afterthought as well. The looks of this level are quite solid, with clean texturing and decent lighting, yet somewhat sterile atmosphere and a few sound issues as well. Musics and cameras are solidly applied. Overall a good level - especially for those who prefer more task-oriented gameplay. 35 minutes." - manarch2 (24-May-2018)
"One of the best levels of this year. Beautiful, challenging and unique tasks (a bit tricky sometimes) and an amazing boss. Very well done. Higly recommended!" - requiemsoul (21-May-2018)
"I should have taken notes and/or written a review right after I finished with this, just when the site was down. But I haven't. Still, the overall impression is that of a well crafted game that starts by being so-so and evolves to something much better. Lighting, atmosphere, sounds and general gameplay seem ok. It's possibly not memorable but still pretty good. Nice puzzles and exploration and a thrilling final part with the T Rex trying to spoil the party but adding to the fun." - Jorge22 (16-May-2018)
"One of the best levels I've played in a while. Some tricky and tight timed parts, especially with the spiked poles. Lighting and texures are all on point. Atmosphere could have used some creepy background music in the slower parts of the game but that didn't hinder the fun any. The builder thought this level out very well making for an enjoyable game with an end that will get your blood pumping. I'll look forward to more levels like this. Thanks alot for the fun Samu." - Cerebralfire (08-May-2018)
