Reviewer's comments |
"My scores reflect my appreciation of the brief moment in the end with a bit of platforming
in an Angkor style room. Other than that - read the manarch2 review below - it sums it up
very nicely. Could not have said it better myself." - MichaelP (17-Mar-2024) |
|
"Copycat rooms with no real message to them. I suggest playing Refrain In Hell instead. This
isn't worth it." - OblivionJaw (05-Dec-2023) |
|
"Drobridski style is certainly unique but very disconcerting. Unlike other works by this
author, what is proposed here is not motivating." - CalrOsario (02-Nov-2023) |

"Well, yes, I was "looking for this", referring to the giant save memory cartridge sitting in the third identical room. I persevered and ended up in a strange Angkor Wat room which contrasted a lot with the previous textureless segment. Alas, only when I began to enjoy the metal music (+1 point for Atmosphere & Sound) was I burnt to death by an unannounced timed trap. As I wanted to see the end of this ridiculous joke, I fought against the builder (not literally, don't worry) by changing the script and DOZYed my way out of the level. The final looped Fly-By that give you much needed instruction for reaching the end of this level was the final last touch of humour necessary for me to feel like I hadn't wasted twenty minutes of my life playing this "thing". I had even more fun playing some levels by Cain back in the day. I wouldn't recommend this level to anyone, but it's a first glance in the mindset of a mischievous builder." - TimJ (21-Jul-2022) |

"If you want to torture yourself, then sure, play this level, otherwise, stay away from it." - Cruzader (30-May-2021) |

"I originally wanted to rate this lower, but then i saw someone else streaming it and
came to the conclusion that it is somehow interesting as a joke level! I believe if you
take it for what it is and just accept it for being a joke level it could even become
epic in this category somehow! Soo.... i can confirm its one kind of an experience...
but its your choice if good or not i guess!" - Lilly Jericho (08-Nov-2020) |

"I don't know what a Create a Classic Demon is, but he has some sense of humor. If you accept the rules, not even as mean as in some other levels, you will have a different kind of challenge, in the end rewarding. If you come with fixed mindset, well RIP. Nice style btw, and good lighting despite of cartoonish texturing not really making it obvious." - DJ Full (24-Oct-2020) |

"I can't understand where is the fun by repeating up to five times the same tedious tasks. One of the times the game crashed when picking up the compass and several times, when shimmying over the deadly pit, the camera view changes (too near of Lara) and I was forced to reload a savegame to restore the camera. Only some jumps in the final room are not the final prize I was waiting for after the nasty repettions. Sorry, but not recommended." - Jose (03-Sep-2020) |

"Satan Spawn, The Caco-Demon is a short level by Drobridski
where you collect the "golden skull" in a sequence of 5
repeated rooms, but to add more annoyance - you cannot
save/load and camera zooms-in when you almost finished
going through all of the rooms. Furthermore, you enter an
Angkor wat style room which is timed and you are not warned
about that.
I don't know what was the purpose of this level, was it
either to beat the popular "Lara in a box" or to prank us?
Surely the author has the potential to spend some time
building and delivering a high-quality level, but if he
chooses not to then we can't take him seriously." - Kubsy (03-Jul-2020) |

"I give those credit for building these levels cause takes
time and hard work. You turn it into a waste of time &
talent game. The purpose of these levels is to get that luv
of feeling playing Tomb Raider Classics. That's what the
editor is for to share it with others who have the same luv
for the game. Not to turn it into some Garry's Mod game.
Those who thought it was funny, this was not funny at all!
this is insult to the game. There are bits of trolling here
in there in levels but not this ridiculous. If you got this
far with the editor make a game that you can use your
talents better then trash trolling." - ShadowZia (24-Jun-2020) |

"This level has quickly attached itself to the very bottom
of the Level Index;and with entirely good reason:the way
the builder intended it to be played deliberately renders
it almost impossible to complete. On the advice of the
Walkthrough,I cheated and enabled the Save function prior
to embarking on this - so that fact MUST be borne heavily
in mind by anyone wishing to give this level a go.
Assuming you do the same, you may actually find yourself
eking out some mild enjoyment from the experience. The
level is actually a game of two halves (pedantically
speaking,five-sixths). The first section is a cartoony
pastiche of TR Gameplay, where the same actions must be
repeated four times;all to the accompaniment of cheerful
electronica, and with an increasingly restrictive camera
view (unless you reload). This is then followed by a
really rather effective and atmospheric platform sequence
(the only element of the level that warrants points),with
a timed 'deadly flip-map' (not at all apparent until it
unexpectedly penalises you for taking too long). This
section presents a mild challenge amid a well- built and
atmospheric location. It's too little to elevate the
level, though. Without enabling the save function I would
never have been able to complete this joke/horror
hybrid, and would undoubtedly have penalized it
accordingly - but players who follow the installation
advice provided by the Walkthrough, will get something out
of this;and will even recognise that the builder has a
degree of technical flair." - Orbit Dream (24-Jun-2020) |

"Honestly, I am surprised my sanity didn't drop while playing this... I'll try to keep it short by saying this is probably the most troll level I've played in years, which was definitely the purpose of it. If there was a "Bad Levels" hall of fame, this would be in the top 10 for sure.
Overall, not recommended and not worth your 10 mins unless you want to put your sanity to the test." - Hedteur (19-Jun-2020) |

"Just do yourself a favor and don't touch it. You will hear my words if you haven't followed them. Probably this level might sound interesting now... it isn't. Believe me. "I am unsure what the point of this TRLE is and
why you would waste time creating something
horrendous and uploading it instead of
showcasing what you can truly build and make
the player enjoy a level. The background music
is annoying, the repeated sequence of picking
the skull up and the compass is boring, the
next room makes no sense, not to mention that
you can't save nor exit the game.
If you are going to build something soon which
I am sure you will since you were allowed to
upload this atrocity, please make it
worthwhile otherwise there's no need to troll
players or pester this site where builders
truly dedicate time and put a continuous
enormous efforts to keep this community going.
I would have given you a -10 if I could as I
didn't find anything humourous nor
entertaining, I hope you take all the reviews
as a message and change the way you build and
impress us with something worthwhile." - Lara_Shin (18-Jun-2020) |

"Just Don't play this one." - JoeTheCrazyGamer (17-Jun-2020) |

"I'm known in these circles as an easy grader, so my scores,
such as they are, will raise the average a bit. As others have
noted, there's not much here, but the final room is moderately
entertaining which explains my elevated score in the gameplay
department. For those who share my lack of scruples, the
posted walkthrough provides information enabling players so
inclined to save their progress. After all, the sliding
sequences must be done with some precision, and a misstep
would otherwise require the player to start over from the
beginning. Since the sequence in question must be done five
times before you get to the final room, I would deem this as
cruel and unusual punishment, hence the cheating tip. A step
up from Lara in a Box, but only a step." - Phil (17-Jun-2020) |

"This author hates players. He builds levels with the deliberate purpose of irritating, frustrating and making fun of them. Anyway, since some players are actually masochistic, I guess this level could be an interesting challenge for them. In this game you cannot save. If you die, you have to repeat the game from the beginning. Luckily it's not very long, less than 10 minutes of gameplay. Sadly, apart the challenge, there's nothing worth in here." - Teone (16-Jun-2020) |
|
"What is even this? A succession of 5 repeated rooms and then an ending that is truly insulting, some kinda easy platforming, yes, but it is timed and because of that few mistakes are allowed.
I came with low expectations considering Teone's review and now I know why he gave those marks, this game makes no sense and is no fun. But the 1 in gameplay is too much in my opinion, as there is indeed gameplay but is repeated for a total of 5 times and the lack of saving - especially in the last part - makes this level just insulting, not a joke like Lara in a box.
The builder looks like can really get some way better results if he does care about making an experience that can be fun for everyone. If he only wants to make fun of the players, then I am sorry this is not the place for you.
Please, do not invest your time in this.
Wolfy Regards." - Wolf7 (16-Jun-2020) |

"I understand why Michael didn't put this into "joke" category. The jokes are supposed to be funny and entertaining and this thing is neither. One room that gets repeated several times which includes boring shimmying (with "short" shimmy animation) and some jumping over....lava I guess? The jumping would actually be decent if it was supposed to be done only once. All that without saving the game. The music....Even this version of Lara isn't that young for it to be appropriate. Overall, I fail to see the point of this level. Scourge05 at least had some point with shocking value and his level was at least removal-worthy, while this is just...well...this." - Tolle87 (16-Jun-2020) |
|
"definitely not worth playing im sorry too be so harsh but im
the sure the builders definitely more than capable of making
something better than this. The textures in this hurt my
eyes and the rooms are basically copied one on top of the
other not a long level either and definitely not worth 10
minutes of game play" - lokky99101 (16-Jun-2020) |

"I thought I'd seen some pretty awful joke
levels, but this is probably the absolute
worst I've encountered. Firstly, the music
sounds utterly dreadful, as it if had been
badly ported from an old Sonic the Hedgehog
game and then looped to the point of
insanity. Secondly, the extremely odd camera
angles every time Lara shimmied across the
crevice. But mostly because of the sheer
inconsideration the builder shows towards us
players. Taunting us with a series of mind-
numbingly tedious repeated rooms,
unexplainably removing the save function,
but worst of all, a completely unhinted at
timed exercise at the "end". To be fair,
it's not that hard to make, but only if you
know what you have to do and that it is
timed. And don't even get me started on the
ending. As Gerty would say, this is the
pits. Avoid like the plague!" - Ryan (16-Jun-2020) |
