Reviewer's comments |
"I came here after tr3 test levels released , so i had a very good idea what was happening here . But the truth is that it isnt chaotic , level and gameplay is solid here . you do every hard task in every area until you finish . didnt notice any unmarked ladder as it was mentioned unless if they mean , in the end where there was a clue about a ladder at the floor . the hunt secrets were very nice also . and u dont even need so much ammo , enemies are almost non existent and easy . About jumps now , i would say that in tr3 engine dont need much preparation , and i have already tasted hellish jumps from scourge-neltharion in other releases" - Petaludas (09-Jan-2024) |

"Has a few nice rooms, not enough. Instead oscillates around hard platforming, building a tension which never resolves, crying for storyline drive. Secrets and audio are possibly the best part. Dat unmarked ladder tho..." - DJ Full (23-Aug-2022) |

"A very hard but very well done TR3 level in desert vibes. Gameplay was very solid, I liked
moving around the main "castle". Level contains some nice puzzles altough I didn't
understand the puzzle with symbols and levers, I just did it on trail and error lol. There
is also a bit of backtracking but I think in this situation it's on plus. I liked much the
desert atmosphere of the level. Lighting was done very well, giving nice vibes. Textures
were good too but sometimes I had feeling they were placed a bit chaotic. Also I think the
skybox didn't really fit into environment; level was located on desert while on skybox we
can see green hills. I definetely recommend this level but only to more advanced players
because beginners can have trouble with some hard sequences." - BlackWolfTR (02-Oct-2021) |

"That's the next challenging level by Scourge05, however it's easier than "Deviation".
There are less pixel perfect jumps but more tight timed runs that require unique
techniques to finish them effortlessly. Gameplay despite very hard moments is
constructed pretty well and for me was quite enjoyable. There are not many enemies
however they are well balanced and I don't have many problems with them. Secrets are
much better hidden than in previous levels by this author. You'll get them easily with a
really good reward if you focus on exploration. There is a lot of variation in texture
placement which makes areas interesting along with the lighting that gives uniqueness to
them. I recommend this level only for very experienced players. Overall pretty good job
on this level Scourge." - Mahetus (14-Feb-2021) |

"I shall not go into all the reasons I have marked this one down as they have already been explained in the previous reviews but players note the following. You will be faced with extremely tight timed runs, absolute confusing game play centering on having no idea of what to do or where to go next, copious jumping sequences of extreme difficulty, unmarked climbables, unmarked monkey swings and a general feeling of being lost in a rats maze. Enter at your own peril. You have been warned. The ONLY way I managed this level was by following a video walk through as without that I would have trashed the thing in the first ten minutes." - Torry (04-Feb-2021) |

"Of course, not a level for everybody because the extremely ridiculous hard tasks. I only could finish it thanks of the savegames provided in the walkthrough. I recognize the effort from this author, but I think he is actually building only for very very few super-expert players all around the TR world. A real pain, because this good builder could bring us very interesting and entertaining levels, suitable for many players, and not all those series of disgusting tasks like the perfect-pixel jumps or the impossible timed runs. What I said: a real pain." - Jose (26-Jan-2021) |

"It's one thing for a builder to make his levels challenging for the more experienced
raiders out there. It's quite another thing to make the sequences so hard that they're
well-nigh impossible to master after multiple attempts, even for players who could
legitimately be called experts. I'm no expert, but the first timed run took me close to
100 tries before I finally made it through the timed door. The second timed run I couldn't
do at all until it was explained to me that you have to use the sprint key to make Lara
run and not wade through the initial stretch of water. Even then, if you squeeze past the
timed door as it's closing, there's a good chance it won't re-open behind you, and if that
happens you can't finish the level since you have to return this way. The final timed run
is probably what the builder sadistically thought of as icing on the cake to cap off (in
his mind) a marvelously entertaining adventure. If you get through successfully the level
ends, so it's no big deal in the scheme of things. However, I could never even get the run
started, because the jump from the slope to the wall opening in the first room requires
pixel-perfect accuracy and I finally gave up trying to make the grab. There are a couple
of other similar spots in the level, but they can be done with perseverance: a jump to the
corner of a suspended pyramid that requires a bit of luck, and a jump to grab a gold
platform that's a lot more difficult than it looks. Other than these crucial points, the
rest of the level is quite fun to play and has some interesting elements. I will be happy
to amend this review and increase my gameplay score if the builder will release a revision
with these changes: (1) Add a second or two to the first and second timed runs and (2)
lengthen the slope in the first room for the final timed run." - Phil (23-Jan-2021) |

"What a great level this could have been! I
had read the two reviews before starting
so I had a very rough idea of what to
expect from this level and yes, this is
undoubtedly an extremely tough nut to
crack. I actually made it nearly all the
way through to completion but I had to
quit the game at the final timed run
because I could not master the pixel
precise jump to the first ledge but there
was only a few seconds left after that
anyway, so I feel like I've played enough
to prepare this review. I like a decent
challenge as much as the next raider, but
when certain sequences become impossible
for even experienced raiders like myself
to complete, the enjoyment and balance is
lost. Maybe Scourge05 could consider
toning down the difficulty level in future
efforts, as this is actually an
improvement construction-wise from
previous offerings. But the sheer amount
of frustration I encountered just spoilt
it for me, sorry." - Ryan (23-Jan-2021) |

"Firstly, this level was extremely challenging. It's not one I would suggest to
beginners. I still had fun with it regardless of my frustrations. This level is one that
is non-stop, the next challenge is right after the previous. The puzzles were decently
easy to figure out, it was just a matter of executing them. The timed runs are very
tight, especially if you are not highly skilled like myself. And it was interesting to
see some of the TR1 textures and objects in a TR3 level, and constructed and blended
well to where it looks like it took a decent amount of time to construct. I look forward
to more from the author!" - g12STL (17-Jan-2021) |

"This is another one definately nothing for beginners but if you can accept the challenge it is a really nice one. While the looks are little more than functional (not badly done and with a nice outside area at the start but with several mistakes and wallpapered areas later on), the gameplay delivers constantly in its lots of unorthodox platforming exercises, rather tough timed runs and also puzzles, although those were a bit behind the rest. The gameplay is a bit flawed at times with some (intended?) ledges you can hardly climb onto, only from very uninituitive places and in general too much to and fro (this level somewhat lacks in terms of overall structure and progression, despite some shortcuts), but the challenges are well done - more of that please. Another welcome change from the standard level design, despite some annoyances, lasting about 40 minutes for me. Found six secrets but one didn't register." - manarch2 (10-Jan-2021) |
