Reviewer's comments
"Initially looking like a typical Tut1 clone, this soon branched off into its own style. Fairly short and not taxing, it still managed to be surprisingly entertaining, with its brisk pace and effective flame emitter/electrified water room. If you’re looking for a change from the long and challenging levels that crop up fairly frequently these days you could do a lot worse than this." - Jay (16-Oct-2023)
"Second installment from the builder, it's gotta be an attempt to redo the original tutorial level. It is done in a quite satisfying way, straight to the point, without much bloat. Recommended for a quick snack." - DJ Full (28-Feb-2023)
"Short level very easy to play with a fast gameplay. No puzzles to solve, only pull some switches, avoid some classic traps, shoot some enemies and take some jumps. All is "correct" here, but not very entertaining or innovative. I think the author could get better on the architecture, ornate the rooms with more objects, place more musics and flybys and think about fresh situations to hit the players. Playable and with a classic old style, but don't expect too much." - Jose (06-Apr-2022)
"Pretty basic stuff, but not that bad a raid nonetheless. The best part is near the end, where you have to negotiate a room with electrified water. I found it to be much like the TR1-like level I played recently, Temple of Bastet, a mixture of fluff and cotton candy but fun to play. It's short and easy, a bit on the dark side but you can easily get by with the quantity of flares that are provided. The average scores to date are about a point lower than I feel the level deserves, so the players out there shouldn't be dissuaded from giving this 30-minute potboiler a try." - Phil (07-Sep-2021)
"Well, yes, while this does feel like quite the throwback to 2001, it's not a bad one. And it's a short and straightforward raid too, one I longed for after spending nearly two weeks to wrap up the previous levelset I've played. Not much to write really, some of the areas seem quite similar to the standard Tut1 level but there were some nice ideas such as the shallow electrified water pit, as out of place it may have seen. 20 minutes, 1 secret. 07/21" - Treeble (18-Jul-2021)
"A very nice little level ! A beginner++ level I'll call it, because it is beginner-ish BUT it does feel very polished. There are no bugs, sounds and music are well used, enemies well placed, the texturing is very well done and the lighting was very good and in some places amazing (too dark in the first rooms tho). They were a few cameras as well, and the gameplay was not crazy but overall really enjoyable, especially the room with the electrified water which was really good platforming and puzzle-wise. To me all that's left to go to the next-level of quality would be to work more on the architecture to make the rooms look less squarish and more realistic (which is probably one of the hardest things to do with the level editor tbh). Another thing would be to spice up the gameplay more, make it more complicated and creative in terms of puzzles and harder overall. Another tip for the builder : for example there was a room with darts and spike things coming down from the ceiling, but the whole thing could be avoided by just jumping across the room. When you use traps, try to make sure the player has no other choice but to come across them and cannot bypass them easily, so that the player really has to deal with them. All in all a very nice level and a promising builder ! :) Around 35 minutes, 1 secret found." - Revenge (17-Jul-2021)
"While this level was lackluster for the better part of it, it was one that has potential for the next entry. The most difficult room was the electrified water room where you have to navigate carefully and not get burned by the fires around there. There are some fires that you have to navigate with precision timing to get done. Other than that, the level was pretty easy for the most part." - g12STL (12-Jul-2021)
"This is like taking a trip back to the very early years of the Level Editor era. It's another one that's mostly based on the original tutorial level, so nothing entirely original here and gameplay is also somewhat unremarkable. Having said that, the textures and lighting is always competent and efficient, the rolling boulders keep you on your toes, the enemies are engaging enough and the electrified water room and burning lever room were nice additions (admittedly a lot easier than it looks at first glance). Definitely a decent and playable effort, but probably won't linger long in the memory." - Ryan (11-Jul-2021)
"Did we actually play the same level here? I actually did not find this to be any awful as some of the review's mark seemed to make me think about. I was expecting pitch black rooms, NOT FUN backtracking and such, and instead I just found a level that if it were to have popped up in 2001 would have most certainly gotten a 6 or a 7. It is short, yes, and the gameplay is a bit stiff, shamefully the author did not take the opportunity to actually make some more interesting gameplay, such as some timed runs and yes the room with the poison and the screws from the ceiling was as wonderfully useless as Michael pointed it out. Still lighting is for the most part decent and yes some rooms are from the level editor's tut1, but not all of them, there were some cracks here and there, but the level still looked up pretty and had a decent atmosphere without any cameras, yes, but the place to be found was not ON THE COMPLETE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP.
While yes I can say there are better levels out there, this was a short pleasing one and the marks given do not make any sense thus far." - Wolf7 (04-Jul-2021)
"A pleasant little throwback to yesteryear, this compact little Tut1 adventure zips along for 25 minutes or so,with a few neat little moments here and there (the electrified floor;the timed flame levers;the boulder trap over the spike pit). Texturing and lighting is efficient;and enemies are placed for sufficient irritation. It's significant to note that I never needed the use of a single medi-pack (although I'm ashamed to say that I actually got nibbled by a small scorpion);so this level should be ideal for beginners,or those who have a spare half-hour." - Orbit Dream (04-Jul-2021)
"20 minutes for this level inspired by the official tutorial level although only a few rooms are similar. Easy , the deadly water room was the highlight , with some other place with player-friendly fire burners. Not too many enemies which are the usual suspects, the mummies hidden in vases has already be seen before in other levels and that still does not work well (unrealistic and the player just has to reload). Texturing is neat, the lighting pleasant although no work on that has been done on that in some of the rooms." - eRIC (03-Jul-2021)
"A more solid offering than the builder's debut, this time with better lighting and some good attempts on texturing. As the previous reviewers have pointed out, the room with the electified water is certainly the highlight of this game with a few decent fire traps. Other than that it is very much reminiscent of the Tut game and therefore not really recommended as the entertainment factor is only mild. Found the one secret in 17 minutes." - manarch2 (03-Jul-2021)
"This is what a classic beginner level would or should like about 20 years ago when the editor came out. It borrows heavily from the room structure and geometry of the original Tutorial project file and then expands that in two side and one final areas that do at least add a little bit of extra here. The electric water room actually looked quite nice, but the corcscrew room seemed entirely pointless as you can just walk through it. Progression is super obvious and easy, just requiring a bit of patience here or there to navigate the burners without bursting in flames. There is one equally obvious secret (room) to find and it is all over in less than 30 minutes even if you do take your time. Only for the completionists out there." - MichaelP (02-Jul-2021)
