Reviewer's comments |
"Though minimalistic in visuals, it feels and plays like space enough. The teleport I tried from two sides, couldn't enter, did an extra loop around the map, eventually tried the third side and succeeded - should just work from any side, why not? Also I had a problem with that unmarked ladder in the ending, idk why to damage the game like that." - DJ Full (15-Apr-2023) |

"Even by reading all the extra documents I'm not sure who did what exactly. Clearly this was an attempt to give us a full package. It turned out to be a mixed bag in my opinion but I give without hesitation a big 10 for effort. The level is awkward in the way the movie that is referred too is also awkward viewing it through today's eyes. In that way the level does succeed. Some things however do not work as is the case with the music during the first part. There is a reference to a love story in which case the music does fit but not really in a SF setting. Gameplay wise it is quite linear at times but ok. Not ok are the game stoppers like 'that one moveable block' (I just found by sheer luck) or the reachable place that should not be reachable at that time (you can get behind the big gate without the 2 CD's). Some big areas were well done, others less so (the first big lava room and more specifically the strange side tracks). The 'gravity' jumps are a nice touch. As far as the 'full package' I mentioned is concerned, great to see some FMV's slipped into the package and that made sense within the awkward way of things. Unlike my low ratings, don't let this get you off of playing this level. You will have fun in some way or another." - bERT (25-Dec-2022) |

"I do have a fondness for Franky's futuristic levels even if they are reasonably similar in construction and this one based on the classic movie from the 50's was well constructed. There is a bit too much of the long, long trips between sections but you do get the Mars Rover to help you out in some of these. The tribute to Mugs on one of the rovers was a nice touch. I loved the anti gravity moments when you almost decide that no, that jump is too far and unless you take that leap of faith you will never know. My only one real complaint was nearer the end there was an unmarked climbable on an upright and the raider has no way of discerning this. The beasts that attached were repurposed boars and the squeal when they died made me laugh. I did have to refer to Doggett's walk through in one section when I had no clue that the pinkish red ovals in that room had to be shot." - Torry (05-Nov-2022) |

"Again, another futuristic level in the same line of the previous ones. This time the rooms are very colourful, too huge and textured the same way. There could be a hint in the places with anti-gravity. There were some issues the author could fix: when driving the first rover, once up the high wall, if Lara falls down to the floor there's not a way to go up again; in the big lava room there is an unmarked climbable ladder; when you press the button to open the door of the large room with the big skull, if you wait a moment the door will close and there's not a way to open it. Except for this, the level is not hard to play, but I found nothing interesting here; only pull some switches, drag some blocks and few more things. Also the background musics were a bit annoying. Not a bad level, but I think after many releases, this author got out of fresh ideas." - Jose (18-May-2022) |

"To be honest I expected more from this level as this builder already released 10+
levels. Gameplay is simple with pulling levers. Yes it have some nice ideas like gravity
jumps but they weren't done good. Design is very lazy. Most of rooms are painted with
same texture and they are wallpapered. Just like builder used "texture whole wall"
button. Lighting is another bad point. To most of rooms there was only set ambient
lighting and that's it. No shadows no other colors than main ambient. This all caused
that atmosphere was very poor. Another weak point is architecture which contains mostly
boxy and square rooms. The only good aspect of design was that rooms were filled with
objects and decorations so they didn't felt completly empty. There were some bugged
sounds too. I don't want to sound harsh but I really suggest author to take care more
about his next levels because I expected something better from author with 18 released
levels." - BlackWolfTR (06-Aug-2021) |

"A bit more colourful, yet also somewhat more wallpapered than its precedessor. Otherwise, the gameplay is more of the same we get to expect, with at least one unpretentiously fun vehicle tour and a few jumps to absolve. I still have the feeling that after his now 18th release the builder has gotten long out of ideas to make his levels a worthwhile experience and this won't change in the future, so I'll keep myself short from now on; found all secrets in 30 minutes." - manarch2 (03-Aug-2021) |

"This continues Franky's streak of pleasant
but unexceptional releases. The novelty
may have worn off a bit after so many
levels, but I still tend to find them
rather charming nonetheless. Having said
that, I felt this one was a bit of a step
back from previous efforts as the gameplay
was a bit less exciting this time round
(minus the always welcome anti-gravity
jumps) and the environments were rather
more sterile than I would have liked, with
a few of the textures being rather
repetitively applied. Still, if you liked
the previous installments in this series,
this one should still fit the bill." - Ryan (29-Jul-2021) |

"A space level with convincing alien surroundings, using some nice objects from BtB
Space. The gameplay is mostly straight forward, tasks are on the easy side and secrets
not hard to find. Running down monsters with the rover was fun. It has its own aesthetic
looks, not very much aligned with mine though. An ok level lasting a bit less than an
hour, unless you are backtracking for a missed hard to see switch, like I did :)" - billie2001 (28-Jul-2021) |

"I'm a little surprised at the inflated scores to date. Although I consider myself an easy
grader, I didn't see much difference from Franky's previous offerings. What we have is a
fun, fairly stress-free alien level cut from the same cloth as the innumerable releases to
date. I'm not complaining, I just don't see this series as having Hall of Fame potential.
The most vexing spot in the level is finding an obscure button to open a crucial door that
enables you to finish the game. All this is documented in the posted walk, with thanks to
Doggett for his crisply rendered video. For the first time I was able to see one of the FMVs
on my screen (the ominously plodding footprints), which brought back fond memories of the
classic movie on which this level is based. Enjoy it for the fun factor." - Phil (27-Jul-2021) |

"This was a great TRLE with some good innovations. The space theme was nice as well. I
hardly have any complaints as the level design was very straight-forward and not
repetitive. Backwards-and-forwards was minimal for the most part, but started to become
a theme in the ending of the game. The audio and ambience for this game was appropriate
as well. I look forward to the next installment from the author, good work!" - g12STL (22-Jul-2021) |

"I must have been eight when I watched Forbidden Planet on the black and white TV...
until my parents sent me to bed because they noticed I was actually not only curious, ut
also pretty scared. It's funny when you think of how naive the film is. It's been a
while, and I didn't recognize the original in this loosely based version, maybe because
it's been a while. Perhaps that electricity sound? Still, I had fun playing the Franky
sci-fi formula... Lots of poisonous mutants to shoot down and run over, a room with an
easy skeleton head, plus a couple of automatic machine guns to shoot (and a door I
couldn't open), an unmarked ladder in a fiery room (!), eight secrets of which I found
six or seven, riding a few rovers, the nice low gravity spots, the whole shebang. I
liked the looks of the level. As usual, the ending was incredibly sudden. Nice on the
whole." - Jorge22 (21-Jul-2021) |
