Reviewer's comments
"I really did not see a connection to TNT1 (or the TNT title in the first place), but nevermind - this is a very decent level in itself. The whole abandoned cathedral atmosphere works quite well and the variety of TR3 enemies, burners, breaktiles and timed runs keeps you entertained and on your toes. The main puzzle is quite elaborate and requires a fair amount of backtracking, but I still liked the clever approach to it. And the bell tower moment is pretty cool as well. So, overall a very decent raid with a nice amount of smaller challenges to master for a little under an hour of game time." - MichaelP (16-Jan-2024)
"I had to redo a looooot after I moved the metal blocks to a wrong place. Something was also wrong with the sound, as the endings of tracks have a click for some reason. I hope this gets fixed because the level is quite good otherwise, I even had a "wow" moment once." - DJ Full (12-Mar-2023)
"A decent level on TR3 engine where we explore an abandoned cathedral. Gameplay was pretty nice but I feel more could have been done to make it a better experience. There is a really nice puzzle at the end of the game and its the only one in this level. We will try our skills on quite tight timed runs and platforming sequences. The level in overall is quite challenging. Designwise it's fine but quite dull. There are a lot of wallpapered and flat walls present in this game. Textures are pretty repetetive and sometimes they can bore player. Lighting was quite dull as well. Author could have made it a bit more diverse with some more colours here and there. But it's still done in a pretty solid way. I have remark to the big area with timed run. The glowing effect kinda made this room look flat in terms of lighting. In overall rooms look pretty empty. Walls are flat and there aren't really many decorations. However architecture is done in a pretty good way I have to say. There were a lot of quite impressive bigger locations with nicely done geometry. All in all as I said it's a decent level with some nice tasks and quite good atmosphere. I can recommend it :)" - BlackWolfTR (20-Aug-2022)
"Not special tasks or features, but this level was entertaining enough to take a try, with many dangerous situations and a lot of platforming. The timed runs are not too tight, the enemies are well balanced and I found enough ammo for the extra guns. The rooms are too huge and not well ornated, with few objects or furniture; the textures are well applied, but the aspect is monotonous due to the big surfaces. The best were the lighting, the musics and the camera hints. Worth to play anyway." - Jose (02-Jun-2022)
"In this level, gameplay is focused mainly on platforming tasks, which are quite basic but still entertaining. In order to make platforming interesting, author has added flame emitters here and there, a room containing three swinging bells that can push you off ledges, and two timed runs that are lengthy but not too difficult. I liked also placement of the poison-spitting mutants from TR3, which often led to intense situations. I am listing here a couple of things that, in my opinion, could have been done to improve the gaming experience: 1) The push block puzzle involving four metal crates forces player to do quite a lot of backtracking, which was a little tedious, 2) Gameplay could be more interesting if there was a larger variety of tasks including puzzles, 3) Decorative objects could have been used more often, since the areas tend to look rather empty, 4) Although texturing is done generally well, higher variety of textures would help to make the level visually more interesting. Overall, it’s a nice level, which the fans of platforming will surely find entertaining." - Samu (10-Oct-2021)
"This is a pleasant TR3 level with some challenging moments, but there's nothing that can't be conquered with a little effort. It's been some time since I've seen those mutants that crawl around spewing poisonous green gas, and in this case some remain active while others spew once and either die or fall asleep. Strangely enough, no secrets were found or documented in the video walk. Lighting is never a problem in TR3 levels, since the player has the option of adjusting the gamma within the game. I wondered about the harpoons early on until Lara encountered frogmen a bit later, but the grenades made no sense because the grenade gun is nowhere to be found. Another quirk was the absence of the usual TR3 stat screen when the level ended. Oh, and I just loved that opening screen, with Lara chomping down on a fat cigar. There's a lot of backtracking here, but everything is put together quite logically and for the most part the cut scenes let you know what's happening and where to go next. Nothing really memorable, but a fun raid nevertheless." - Phil (24-Aug-2021)
"This remains true to the builder's style, this time properly utilising the TR3 engine. The gameplay has a clearer flow overall and although there is certain backtracking, the gameplay is entertaining enough for that not to be too arduous. There's nothing too complicated in terms of puzzles to conquer, but the admittedly ingenious timed runs and jumping exercises might have you pondering the next move for a well. Maybe some secrets would have been another nice addition though. On the plus side, the atmosphere is incredibly convincing and some of the architecture is impressive." - Ryan (23-Aug-2021)
"More enjoyable overall. The gameplay feels more fluent and also diverse in this one, the platforming is more engaging and the looks are also better overall, perhaps mainly due to the efforts in lighting and not so much in texturing as this still was a bit monotonous. The gameplay has its lengths and there is little in terms of puzzles, but I enjoyed the breaktiles as well as several timed runs and other platforming sequences. Sadly there were no secrets to find in this one (at least two locations would've been perfect for a secret), but I liked some of the new objects, especially those bells and the platforms. The ending after 40 minutes is a bit of a downer, as it was in the first outcome (forgot to mention it there), but this was certainly one of the more enjoyable levels of the builder." - manarch2 (13-Aug-2021)
"(8) Gameplay & Puzzles: This is a medium-to-challenging adventure that took me about 1 hour. It's got an engaging mix of exploration, lots of platforming, traps, a couple of timed runs, and interesting combat. There's a good sense of progression and I always wanted to keep on exploring the next room to find out more. The only downside to the gameplay in my opinion is a lack of puzzles -- I think more problem-solving tasks were needed. There is some backtracking, but not an excessive/annoying amount. While the platforming and traps aren't that challenging, the reason why this level leans towards challenging is that medipacks are sparse. (8) Enemies, Objects & Secrets: There's an enjoyable variety of enemies here. I usually don't care for combat much, however here the enemy engagements are interesting and kept me on my toes as there aren't many medipacks. Because of this, you have to be wise with your ammo usage and positioning (hint: the M16 has a longer range than the goons with the guns, so save your M16 for them). I was hoping for a final boss fight, but not a big deal that there wasn't one. There are many flame traps to dodge, and breakable floor tiles, and there are some neat objects that I have never seen before, such as the giant bells. While they moved back and forth for most of the game, it was weird to see them frozen in mid-air once the door to the artifact was opened. Again, not a big deal though. Often there's a noticeable lack of object decor; some larger rooms seem only to serve a functional purpose with no decor objects at all. (9) Atmosphere, Sound & Cameras: I think that the immersive, eerie atmosphere is the strongest aspect of the level. The background ambient loop is unsettling and fitted perfectly. The camera hints are great; I never felt disorientated regarding my objective. My only suggestion for improvement is that there are a couple of timed runs but there is no tense sound cue to indicate to the player that they are timed. I think player-friendliness is only enhanced if the player knows immediately whether a lever is timed or not. (7) Lighting & Textures: I think this category needed more polish. There are many misshapen triangular/skinny tiles, and wallpapering is evident in larger rooms. I also think that for larger rooms, more texture variety would have been good. Lighting is pleasant, however, I would have liked to have seen more feasible light sources such as lamps, torches, holes in the ceiling, etc., as a way to show where the light is coming from. Otherwise you're just in an underground ruined cathedral area, wondering where all this light is coming from. Overall, I would heartily recommend this level to players who want a classic adventure with lots of agility-based tasks. I don't think it's a good fit for players who want puzzle-focused gameplay. I look forward to more projects from the builder, however I would also encourage the builder to take special care with misshapen textures in the future. 8/8/9/7." - nerdfury (02-Aug-2021)
"This TR3 TRLE was well lit which is something that is difficult to accomplish with TR3 games. All of the textures were copacetic with one another. In this level, you'll find an enormous amount of platforming. There were very many odd and difficult jumps to make for you to succeed. The enemies were not difficult, nor did they inflict a lot of stress from their presence. Though the map was not really small, it relied a lot on backwards- and-forwards traveling along with a lot of long-winded platforming. This is a good level for play, nonetheless. And I'd definitely recommend this level for a beginner 'raider' to play. Good level!" - g12STL (01-Aug-2021)
