Reviewer's comments
"Not easy to score this one, but regardless of the scores, this is a pure joy to play for the 15 minutes or so that it will last. Kind of a concept level, with a really well executed musical dream idea. All very compact and you end up going back and forth quite a bit, but with the short distances and the nice overall look and feel that really is not an issue. Quite a little gem that should really not be missed by anyone." - MichaelP (05-Feb-2024)
"Incredibly creative level here by Astraf. The gameplay isn't the deepest and it's short but I feel like that's maybe a good thing and adds to what this is going for of not being a full level but a fun short experience to play around the holidays.." - Lorax (09-Mar-2023)
"A sign of artistic sensitivity. A shortie but a needed one. Piano is its forte. Moon could be rounder. Just play it." - DJ Full (29-Aug-2022)
"It was a great adventure on this festive track. No Christmas tree, but no enemies. We're adventuring on a piano keyboard, we need to find a piece of music. However, we need to revive a special move, the speed-run-jump, which was already in TR 4, but we never used it. However, it allows you to jump further, and you need to do it here, at least once. Don't miss this great adventure. Hungaian walkthrough, and savegames, pictures: https://www.treditor.hu/trle/treditor/2021/les_sons_de_la_nuit.htm" - Obig (15-Mar-2022)
"A very pleasant short level to play, where your objectives are clear , with a dose of originality for the setiing, in particular the textures , music notes , animated textures , half transparent textures are well done. Suitable atmosphere for the storyline. No enemies , adequate placement of objects. I did not have a read_me file in the downloaded package so i had a look at the walkthrough to know about the very long jump with sprint. A perfect level in its own kind, like Castle of the moon was." - eRIC (06-Feb-2022)
"This initial offering from the 2021 Advent calendar was a short but pleasant diversion with a musical motif in a floating islands setting. The game map is quite compact and everything is well within visual range. There's a bit of backtracking along parallel strips, but not to the extent that it ever becomes annoying. That looping music track, however, was something else altogether, so it wasn't long before I turned it off so I could play in blessed silence. The only sequence that might be called a puzzle was locating and stepping on five slabs to light a fire, and one of those could be reached only by means that others have declared to be illegal. Use is made on one occasion of the sprint jump, and this could cause problems only for players who never bother to read readme files, since the builder explains exactly how it's to be done. Not really a Christmas level, but off the beaten track and therefore an entertaining raid." - Phil (10-Jan-2022)
"Very relaxing and atmospheric level. I enjoyed it despite of its shortness, pure relax." - Lioness_86 (09-Jan-2022)
"This level had some very interesting geometry and was oddly relaxing to play. Thanks being to the ambient music and the dark but safe atmosphere that was there! I really enjoyed the one difficult jump you had to complete using a modified move, it was very well placed! I often enjoy levels from this author and hope to see more soon! Cheers and happy Holidays!" - g12STL (22-Dec-2021)
"A short, magical, peaceful and most of all original little level, in an environment we've never seen before (what an accomplishment that is!). A rolling piano keyboard, floating notes and small floating parts of Lara's home. Unlike other reviewers, I think the duration and the minimal decoration just add to the atmosphere of this mini level. If it lasted longer (for me it was 25 magical minutes) it would spoil the magic. More intricate tasks would also spoil the magic. The atmosphere, greatly assisted by the background piano music, is up high. The gameplay is simple and there are no enemies, traps or secrets. I like that the decoration is minimal as not to take the spotlight from the reigning keyboard. For me, this is a plus. The textures are well chosen and applied, so is the lighting. Well done, Astraf, I really enjoyed your level and it even managed to surprise me! Recommended for everyone in a peaceful mood. PS: The gameplay doesn't deserve 8 per se, but IMO this is the gameplay suitable for this kind of level. Same goes for the second category." - billie2001 (22-Dec-2021)
"This level is really charming and the setting something never seen before. It was nice to climb up and down the giant piano keyboard, especially with the wide jump; decorative objects and especially textures are used well to accentuate the atmosphere. The gameplay can be summed up by this: you have to jump on some pads, then light and use the torch and get some items and perform one wide jump before the whole thing ends after just 8 minutes. While nothing of that is unpleasant, there is simply not much substance to speak of so I think the builder got away fairly easily with some of the scores here. Anyway, the unique atmosphere alone makes this a welcome addition to the advent calendar. No secrets to find." - manarch2 (21-Dec-2021)
"Now this is how you do a "floating islands" kind of aesthetic. A beautiful, starry horizon, pieces of Lara's home that smoothly fade into existence (so it's not just a block in space), and it certainly leaves a nice impression between the rolling piano keys and relaxing music. By contrast, the gameplay does not leave much of an impression. Lara will use a torch, a key, and a star before she brings the music home to the piano at the end of the road. Using the sprint jump was pretty fun, and activating the music note tiles was a nice touch. There's a fair amount of backtracking, but the level is small enough where that didn't feel like much of an issue this time. A nice primer for the holidays. 12 minutes." - JesseG (10-Dec-2021)
"That's a very original and creative level which has been released for the TRCAC event. Well, there's absolutely no any xmas decorations but still it captures the xmas atmosphere a bit because of the music and story. Level is pretty short, it took me 14 minutes to complete. There's not that much to do in it but there are still some creative tasks implemented in this short level. I liked for example having to jump on five music tiles to ignite a fire in the chimney. There's some parkour but it's pretty basic. We have a new move here so that's also really cool. There was some mysterious atmosphere in this level because we are actually set somewhere in the universe, jumping on some piano boards and Lara's Mansion parts while piano music plays in background. This creates really mysterious and intriguing atmosphere. Textures and lighting are good but nothing outstanding. Overally, it's short, pretty creative level with some mysterious atmosphere. I can recommend it for short and enjoyable raid." - BlackWolfTR (09-Dec-2021)
"What a mesmerising experience. Admittedly the gameplay isn't very substantial and it will be over in a flash, but it was a genuine pleasure from start to finish. The landscape here is truly breathtaking, the musical-themed textures were tastefully chosen and captivates you until the very end. The calming piece of piano music was gorgeous to listen to, never grates on the nerves at any point and is a great fit for this moonlit, dreamlike environment. The object placement was (intentionally) rather sparse and the sprint jump sequence a bit out of step with the otherwise placid gameplay, but otherwise I can pretty much guarantee you'll be charmed by this one. Brilliant stuff." - Ryan (09-Dec-2021)
"Aww what a lovely short xmas adventure! well its definitely original! the only level it reminds me of slightly is floating islands from tr2. You make your way across floating piano keys and music notes and other home themed areas finding square tiles to trigger and then theres a torch puzzle, a key, a star and a crowbar to find and use, its sounds very simple and basic and it is apart from maybe figuring out out to correctly perform a super jump to get to a ledge. There is lots of platforming and jumping around to get to certain areas to progress which i really liked and despite the short and simple gameplay, the lovely background music and great lighting and textures was a joy to immerse yourself with in such a cute and original level" - John (08-Dec-2021)
"(6) Gameplay & Puzzles: This is a pleasant, very easy adventure suitable for children. It took me 15 minutes, I had a good time, and the progression is logical. That said, I find it strange that the bulk of the level is very easy, yet there's one tricky sprint jump. Speaking of the sprint jump, I think it's important to communicate to players in-game regarding new moves, as players often don't read README files. The premise of "mini floating rooms" is really cool, however, I would have liked to have seen more of these, and more problem-solving within these rooms. (6) Enemies, Objects & Secrets: No enemies or traps, which is totally fine for holiday levels. The minimal decor objects look great, but there's nothing very memorable in terms of object usage, and unfortunately there are no secrets. (9) Atmosphere, Sound & Cameras: The atmosphere, on the other hand, is unique and memorable. Well done to the builder. The piano background music is superb, and the static cameras/flybys are helpful and polished. I'm actually listening to the .wav music file now (110) as I type up this review, as I love it so much. There's some brief voice-acting at the end and it is done well. (10) Lighting & Textures: What a beautiful selection of textures, all perfectly applied, and the lighting is gorgeous as well. I think it's totally fine that the builder doesn't utilize colored lighting, as it seems to me that he is going for a more "classic" aesthetic here. When considering the builder's past few releases, he has become one of my favorites in terms of visuals. Overall, this is a very charming level that I would recommend to anyone wanting a short "feel good" adventure. The visual creativity (and beautiful music) uplifted my spirits and I'm looking forward to the builder's next "regular" level. Merry Christmas. 6/6/9/10." - nerdfury (07-Dec-2021)
"A short, relaxing level with simple puzzles, but then again the level doesn't try to be anything more. The storyline is simple, the dreamy landscape is as convincing as can be for something that tries to *not* be real - I enjoyed the semi-transparent textures around the "islands" that representend well that they are little parts of Lara's house emerging from her memories as she's dreaming. No enemies, no traps - a possibility to die for sure, if you misclculate the jumps. Which can be fairly easy when floating in the middle of nowhere so the grid isn't as visible as it usually is, and the mostly uneven "ground" being very uneven can also make you misjudge the distance. But overall it's still a very pleasant level that won't frustrate and won't get you stuck." - Potkanka (07-Dec-2021)
"Pretty good idea for a short original. But that nanometric jump without which we're unable to complete the level, don't even start me talking about it... Merry Christmas." - Jorge22 (06-Dec-2021)
"A surreally beautiful level, too bad that it's so short. It will take you about 10-15 minutes, and it consists of running and jumping around back and forth through a dream level across gigantic piano keys and musical sheets to get a few items and put them in the right places. Cameras are good, the aesthetic is again, amazing, the piano song in the background gives this an air of peacefulness and tranquillity (although I wished the song was either a bit longer or there were another chill piano song). The only problem with this level is that it’s not very substantial gameplay-wise. Perhaps in the future Astraf might give another look to the concept of this level and expand upon it. That would be nice." - Cruzader (06-Dec-2021)
"What a beautiful and magical start to the TR Advent Calendar, I love this level however I was a little bit disappointed with some stuff.

Gameplay & Puzzles: This is a very short and very easy level that requires you to only collect some stuff and put them in the place with slight backtracking also with lighting something with a torch. To be honest I was a little bit disappointed as I expected a longer level which I could enjoy for more than an hour/half an hour however you can complete this in under 15 minutes. More puzzles would be appreciated as there weren't any (easy ones of course for Christmas)

Enemies, Objects & Secrets: I am quite hesitant in this category because there were no secrets and enemies. It's understandable that there are no enemies as, of course, it's a Christmas level however, there were a few spots where secrets could have been hidden. In terms of decorations, there are some but I just don't feel like it makes any difference in my experience (as in I am hooked by this level) it felt more like a showcase or a style unit of the level.

Atmosphere, Sound & Cameras: I think the atmosphere and sounds are the strongest aspects of this level as I thought the atmosphere is beautiful and the music is really magical featuring piano play only. There were also sufficient cameras to show where are the pickups.

Lighting & Textures: Texturing is incredible, I loved the piano stretching in the middle of the area and animated textures of music notes. The lighting is ok, however, I wish it was more colorful to spice out the area as I only noticed white lighting only.

Summary: In Summary, This is a beautiful and magical level. Unfortunately with very short gameplay and it made me feel more like it's a showcase or a style unit level rather than a full adventure which kind of disappoints me. I recommend this level if you want a very quick glance at this magical experience" - Kubsy (05-Dec-2021)
"The Read-Me for this creative little adventure states that it's suitable for everyone. This isn't strictly true - those players who suffer from vertigo will probably be absolutely terrified! It all takes place on sections of rollercoasting keyboards and long sheets of floating musical notation - and it's a highly original concept, actualized extremely well. There's a degree of back- and-forth;but this never gets repetitive,as you're always having to work out how best to achieve it. The various tasks are straightforward;but I loved the long jump, and the elevating blocks; while jumping up and down on the musical notes was charming. My only disappointment was that the elusive tune, which was the object of Lara's quest, wasn't suitably festive. Nonetheless, the surreal environment was achieved with skill and real imagination;and the resultant little adventure was a superb example of what an Advent Level should be: relatively short;charming;and delightful to look at." - Orbit Dream (05-Dec-2021)
