Reviewer's comments
"The only level released by this builder to date and rather few reviews and I thought the scores do feel a tad bit lower then the adventure maybe deserves. I did have the walkthrough close by and was prepared to deal with some of the technical issues mentioned in the reviews but ended up having none of those problems at all - thankfully. So I got a little under an hour of a rather solid adventure, starting with the multi lever hub room concept and then expanding from that further along. Plenty of use of the torch, some push puzzles that did not always seem so obvious, decent amount of battle (but with plenty of weaponry and ammo available) and 5 nice secrets thrown in for good measure. There are a few adrenalin moments like the boulder chase, the Shiva fights and, well, the timed run - if it were actually a challenge in terms of the time provided. The second part felt like a bit of an unnecessary inrerlude almost with its swamp wading and darkness. But again, overall, this felt like a much more satisfying adventure than I had anticipated based on the scores and the reviews, so give it a try and see for yourself." - MichaelP (07-Feb-2024)
"Could benefit from extra round of betatesting as it's random and unpolished, but I felt good vibes from it. A nice stray from ambitious stuff." - DJ Full (13-Jan-2023)
"I restarted this game twice , the first time i could not proceed as not all torches were lit and the torch had disappeared when i returned in the first area, the second time in reason of savegames not working anymore. If you forget this, the level offers a good play time, not very difficult and rather well built despite the raw distance and the fact that a timed run was not indicated as such ; also the monkeys reappeared again and again after being killed if you return later in the same areas. Good atmosphere Recommanded but better be played in one sitting to avoid the possible savegames problem." - eRIC (10-Feb-2022)
"A fairly decent debut that does nonetheless come with a few downsides, but overall I was left with a positive impression. The gameplay is for the most part smooth-flowing and enjoyable, but the five-lever puzzle seemed a bit bungled in my case as the door that should have opened using the 1-2-4 combination only opened up when using all five levers, and the timed run through the traps was a little on the overly generous side, while the pushable puzzles seemed that they could only be solved through trial and error. I did like the torch puzzles, the trap sequences and the sections where you had to shoot rubble to open up new passages were a nice touch. Enemy fights were very well executed too, and the secrets were enjoyable side quests. On the visual front, the textures are rather crude in places, lighting is a bit erratically dark in spots although perfectly fine in others and there was a bit of a draw distance problem in outside area, but the level doesn't look too bad despite those issues. Overall, a decently enjoyable first level that could have done with a bit more polishing up here and there, but there's definitely potential here." - Ryan (03-Feb-2022)
"For a first-time level, I got to say that this was some good stuff! The puzzles were just difficult enough to keep you in a spot for a minute but not so much that you get frustrated. The secrets were a bit easy to find and some of the supplies was too arbitrarily placed about. The enemies were appropriate and not too difficult. My only suggestion would be to keep the textures copacetic with the theme of the game. There were some that were south Asian, Peruvian and even Egyptian. But this was a good game and I recommend all levels to try it out!" - g12STL (21-Jan-2022)
"Considering it is the first level of the builder it's ok to be easy and not so hard on Gameplay & Puzzles. I really appreaciate the effort he/she puts in this. I love the atmosphere, somehow remembers me of TR Underworld. I love the open area, but not so much the catacomb ones due to the lightning! I suggest you to improve lightning from light and dark spots in the catacombs ambient I barely couldn't see anything but I appreciate that at least the builder put a lot of flares. I really appreciate some secrets that were well hidden, at least for me, even thou I was able to find all of them. For the texture I suggest you to use some more high quality next time to enjoy more the custom and the ambient but in the end is a fluid and enjoyable custom! Keep up the work! I also did the complete video with all items and secrets on my YT channel! 🙂" - Saki Croft (19-Jan-2022)
"(7) Gameplay & Puzzles: This is an easy duo-level adventure that took me ~1 hour 30 min. The first level is robust, with a decent variety of tasks, from puzzles to simple platforming, a couple of timed tasks, fun combat and many different traps. The second level is very short. I think the debut builder did a great job of mixing things up to maintain player interest, and the "2 pushables type" puzzle early in the game is clever and creative. I do however think sometimes there are progression/flow hiccups. For example, in the large outdoor area, in the E end with waterfalls, there are 2 small urns that you can light with your torch. I still don't know what this did (if anything). Another example is that there is an indoor area where you can shoot a giant bell, and it raises a block so that you can grab a monkeyswing which will lead you to a bridge. This is unnecessary, as you can access the bridge without doing this. (8) Enemies, Objects & Secrets: The enemy engagements are great, with some well-executed surprise attacks by the goons. I enjoyed the many traps. That said, there is a timed trap run that is too generous (even if a player takes their time, they will likely have 40 seconds to spare). The static object decor in the large outdoor area is well-done and really brings this area to life. Some of the secrets are super easy. (6) Atmosphere, Sound & Cameras: I think that the atmosphere, or environmental immersion, is the area that needs the most care going forward. In the large outdoor area, the greenish boundary is very boxy looking, as is the lake with the crocodiles. There's a lot of geometry glitching in and out in this outdoor area, and I recommend either adjusting WorldFarView=, and/or adjusting the layout, so it's not a giant rectangle where the player can see from one end to the other. Also, at times I was not convinced that I was exploring Khmer ruins. In some indoor areas, if the builder had said, "This is an Egyptian (or Greek) temple", I would have not thought twice. I think that the builder did a great job with music and sound cues (such as the success sound when lighting torches). There are enough camera hints, and I didn't feel disorientated regarding my objectives, however I recall a couple of confusing camera shots that showed me areas that I had never been to. There's also an annoying fixed camera when 3 boulders are triggered on the slope (I think it's much better to let the player break out of this camera if they want to). There's a number of unpolished "little things" that detract from overall immersion. E.g. The lake has some tiles that you can "waterwalk" on; the revolver ammo secret has a paper-thin ceiling; there's the wrong sound when Lara is shot at. (7) Lighting & Textures: The lighting is generally pleasant, and the builder provides plenty of flares for the numerous dark corridors. However there are some issues with consistency of theme. E.g. you'll be in a dark room but there will be a very bright pillar or plant object, and it just looks like a clash. Misshapen textures are not uncommon, underwater cracks need more care, and the large outdoor area would benefit from transitional textures between natural elements.  All that said, it's not a bad looking level; I would just recommend to the builder to keep up the diligence with visual polish. Overall, despite some immersion issues, I had an enjoyable time and would recommend this level to anyone who wants an easier, "low stress" adventure. It's a good debut, and the builder has laid down solid foundations for their next projects, which I believe will be great. 7/8/6/7." - nerdfury (17-Jan-2022)
"A decent debut level that has a strong focus on puzzles. Most of them are interesting to absolve but there are downsides like a wrong hint in the five-lever puzzle (I had to use all levers to open the rear left door) and missing or vague hints in some others, especially in the elephant room. There are also some traps and timed runs but latter are very generously timed. In the trap corridor I had more than 50 of 60 provided seconds left when I passed that door - this is simply too much. The looks are rather decent but there are several missing textures below pushables and many smaller texturing errors are visible as well. Cameras also go through walls sometimes. On the other hand I rather liked the scale of the large outside area and some of the darker interior rooms. The enemy placement was fine as well as the five not very hard secrets, but objects are often floating in the air or are otherwise misplaced. There are some nice creative touches in this game and I hope that with some more refinements the builder can do a good job in the next one. Finished in 40 minutes." - manarch2 (15-Jan-2022)
