Reviewer's comments
"An excellent quality level-set that really feels like there was genuine effort put into it. The levels have a consistent amount of effort put into them, the puzzles are interesting and done well, any platforming present feels smooth with slight exceptions, the final chamber section was amazing and absolutely marks this level as one of the best TR2 Levels ever made! The atmosphere and the lighting were done very well as the Thailand theme from TRU was taken and adapted well into the TR2 engine, the result of Zreen's work evident with little to nothing feeling out of place. A must-play :D" - OblivionJaw (05-Dec-2023)
"A solid raid to be had here! For the most part had a good time with it. The first level was gorgeous in the opening section, but once you went into the caves it was a nightmare with how dark it was! Thankfully the subsequent levels weren't anywhere near as dark. Ended a little abruptly, hadn't realised it finished until the final stats came up. Also not sure if it was intended but I couldn't draw my weapons or grab ledges after picking up the final item. But would recommend this to players of all levels of expertise, a quick solid raid for all!" - Feats (12-Sep-2023)
"This level definitely has a few issues but overall was a fun experience for me. Let's start with the positives. The general gameplay is pretty great, it had that classic Tomb Raider feel for me and I really like the setting - it's something a bit different for a TR2 level. There are some nice traps, I really like the springboard section before you find the secret in level 2. (I only found 2 of 9 total, so they were fairly well hidden, although I'm not really someone who looks extensively for them.) I also like the fact Lara has a few voice prompts in this. As for the negatives, I would say these levels are not the prettiest levels I have ever seen. They are not straight-up ugly but some of the lighting is a bit flat and the texture work can be a bit bland in places. Nothing major, and there are some areas that look pretty good. It's also a little on the short side, it won't take you much longer than an 1 hour/90mins (if that) to beat all three levels, even if you're taking your time. Still, if you're looking for a fun hour or so, I would recommend and would definitely play another of this builders levels. PS i like the loading screens, nice little touch." - Passalaqua (26-Aug-2023)
"All in all, I really liked this level set, but perhaps mostly due to part three. The first level, after the initial part in the yacht area (a lot of platforming) is horribly dark. I thought all that darkness basically killed it, even though there were a few moments, namely the final area with the boulders. I played the second level in a flash (that is I quickly and easily opened the door to level three), and I would have thought it was just that way, a passage, if I hadn't taken a look at the walkthrough later. So, it seems one can easily miss a lot of platforming and secret finding. The third level is probably the most balanced, with more tasks to do, and I quite appreciated it. The ending is absolutely sudden. The atmosphere, settings, textures, sounds, all that, are ok for a TR2 level. Recommended, I guess." - Jorge22 (13-Jun-2023)
"TR2 levels aren't normally among my favourites as the undoubted nostalgia factor is usually countered by the clunkiness of the "old" Lara, or maybe I'm just becoming rather jaded with the next-gen stuff? Still, if they're anywhere near as decently put together and enjoyable to play as Bhogavati was, I'm more than prepared to keep playing them. For what appears to be a first-time effort (although Zreen seems to have been a member of this site for quite a number of years), this is certainly nicely done. The environments are refreshing and somewhat faithful to the TRU counterpart (although the indoor sections were too dark and a few of the textures were a bit crudely applied), the atmosphere is good and the gameplay moves along at a fast speed but still offers enough variety, including pushblock puzzles, challenging traps and plenty of exploration, while the enemies provide some enjoyable combat. A good 90 minutes of entertainment." - Ryan (29-May-2023)
"A really good level set in khmer vibes which feels fresh for a TR2 game. I loved the visuals of the game. Locations look beautiful, I especially liked the main areas of the second and third level. Great and diverse use of textures combined with balanced lighting and lots of statics scattered everywhere creates a wonderful environment. The only exception are the caves which seem a little dull - maybe some brighter spots would make them better. Gameplay isn't the most innovative one nevertheless it's still good and really enjoyable. Barely any puzzles. Level focuses on exploration and parkour. Some of the areas in my opinion don't use their fullest potential in terms of the gameplay. For example the main area of the second level. It's big but if we don't strive for collecting secrets then we can complete it in a very short time. Some other minor points: cameras are a bit buggy in the caves (as mentioned in the readme), lizard enemies don't have sounds. For the plus are the secrets which are located in interesting places and it's actually a bit of struggle to get some of them. Overall, a very enjoyable level with wonderful visuals. I recommend it." - BlackWolfTR (09-May-2023)
"Bugs/Functional Issues
  • The large area in Temple Approach seems to be a bit too big for the TR2 engine, causing a slowdown as Lara enters. Turning off the Z buffer helped get the game back up to speed.
  • After picking up the crystal star at the end, Lara loses control of her arms as she is pushed away by a green blast. If Lara is unlucky she can get thrown into a pit, stuck there as she is unable to use the ladder to climb out.
Neutral
  • The visuals do their job pretty well, although some surfaces look a bit wallpapered.
Liked
  • There are plenty of traps for Lara to dodge, including a plethora of boulders, flames, and spikes under collapsing platforms.
  • The secret areas are elaborate and tend to come with extra challenges of their own.
  • Elaborately constructed areas, particularly in the second level, provide a nice playground for Lara.
Time: 1 hour 17 minutes | Difficulty: Medium | Rating: 8.5/10" - JesseG (16-Apr-2023)
"A successful demake which feels like a proper adventure. The only thing ruining the impression is lack of transitions between textures of different kind, and a striking clash between crude geometry versus detailed objects. Also, that underwater switch probably meant to be obvious was not visible enough, guess who missed it and lost a heckload of time... Also, the bats... omg there is always one more, and another, and again. I would keep them in bigger flocks rather than in a sequence." - DJ Full (10-Apr-2023)
"It's an entertaining level set that includes very cool platforming, exploration as well as the combats. There are a few nice customization for the enemies to make them fit into environment and it definitely worked very well.

The visuals are generally good and done well, however there are moments where rooms felt a little too "boxy" and textures were repetitive here and there, not to mention texture cracks (unfortunately, it is a thing that bothers me a lot sdflsjdgl).

Regarding lighting it is done mostly well, some spots that were too dark in my opinion but the author provided good amount of flares, so it is not that bad. There were spots where Lara was reacting to lighting a bit off. (For example: Lara was entering to room that is a bit darker and becomes really bright)

There are more major or minor issues but I don't want to be too negative in this review. All in all, it is an enjoyable level that I can recommened, definitely something different and fresh for TR2 engine. :)" - Mahetus (09-Apr-2023)
