| Reviewer's comments |
"An excellent idea for a level, with some major structural and timing flaws. This is the
first level I've played by DHermogenes, but looking at the author's other work, it looks
like this demo has already served its purpose: judging by the full release's high ratings
and reviews, the author has likely already learned from the experimentation on exhibit
here.
This level features an intriguing setting, truly frigid atmosphere with uncanny elements
of H.P. Lovecraft and John Carpenter creeping in. The main "idea" of racing between
checkpoints in extreme weather is a good one (and as others have noticed, a gameplay
device used before in The Frozen Throne and since in Hashep Oasis). However, I believe
that timed elements require absolute ability for observation *and* predictable traversal
along the way to retain any fun. The number of banana jumps and unexpected slopes or low
roofs preventing jumping or grabbing in ways a player might anticipate made platforming
lose fun very quickly. The wind effects and the Legend-style "slips" that Lara can
experience when grabbing created artificial delays that added to unpredictability. I had a
good *enough* time, and liked the concept, that I would check out the final version
sometime. The textures (especially the rocks) looked misaligned in places, but overall the
atmosphere, the blue fog and creepy messages and enemies, were fun to experience even
briefly." - Cbl (13-Jan-2026) |

"I generally don't play "demo" or beta releases. But I couldn't play this one.
Why?
Because it's a DHermogenes game and I deeply love his style. It's not about "puzzles" or
linear progression through spaces, but rather "thinking" about improving the approach and
options regarding the activities necessary to achieve the objective. For me, this author is,
without a shadow of a doubt, among those who introduced significant conceptual innovations
into the TR Customs world, (He does this in a very particular and unmistakable way!!, Not
only with regard to the form and means which it forces us to interpret the game, as well as
the peculiar narrative it uses to tell "its story"). This game is very difficult. Saving and
Loading is "inevitable", but still within "acceptable". Everything is very precise...
Patience is necessary!!... But the final feeling of duty accomplished is indescribable...
10/10 in all categories, despite some "flaws", which, to be honest, frustration aside, are
actually welcome given the quality of what is offered to us... This author has genius,
inspiration and a lot of talent... I just hope to see more of his work!!! Extremely
Recomended!!!" - CalrOsario (28-Sep-2023) |

"The previous reviewers have expressed my own thoughts about this level, so there must be a
developing consensus among our playing public. This builder has a creative mind, no doubt
about it, but he also has a sadistic bent that shows up in all the levels he's released to
date. I'm not averse to a stimulating challenge here and there, but after all we're playing
a game, and games are supposed to be fun. Some of the required tasks in this half-hour
tidbit border on the impossible, so in a departure from my usual practice I've provided
several savegames for the written walk I've prepared. A nice touch to counterbalance the
difficulty factor is the PLS with unlimited lighting that gives you the ability to see what
you're doing while trying to keep from freezing to death while simultaneously fighting off
ferocious enemies and devilish winds. There's definitely a feeling of triumphal
accomplishment once you've made it all the way to the end of this demo, but unless the
builder demonstrates a better sense of player-friendliness for the final version, I won't
bother to download it when it's released." - Phil (19-Jun-2023) |

"Your enjoyment of this demo will depend almost entirely on whether you like gameplay that
relies solely on fast movement, precise jumping and lots and lots of timed action. This sort
of thing has been done before, in The Frozen Throne from 2015's One Room Challenge contest.
That level was slightly more successful in pulling it off, although this isn't a bad one. It
is somewhat let down though by the somewhat inconvenient placement of some of the campfires,
Lara's jerky running animations and the end sequences with the fearsome bosses, the latter
of which could have been made more forgiving without the annoying crosswinds. Not really a
fan of the red herring text messages either. It does look absolutely beautiful though, the
Tibetan textures are used very well and the atmosphere is suitably chilly. Rather a matter
of taste, I think." - Ryan (12-Jun-2023) |

"I really like Diogo customs and I'm sorry but this demo it's not my vibe at all. I like take
my time when exploring, not rushing like a madman because Lara will soon run out of health.
It stresses me out a lot and I make mistakes because of it. I don't play to get frustrated,
so I hope the whole custom won't look like this." - Sylwia (16-May-2023) |

"A tough freezing timer leaves enough margin to survive but no time to stop, hang around and check if you did everything. As a result, my 100% completion attempt became a lot of save/load/save/load/save/load, and I think you will enjoy this level much more if you care about any% only. For now I think 8/10 is okay, let's see how the full version performs..." - DJ Full (16-May-2023) |
