Reviewer's comments
"An excellent level from Masked Goon taking us into a submarine-esque environment in the TR2 engine. It's done so well, the lighting and texturing doing a fantastic job in immersing the player, the gameplay flowing smoothly and with many nice touches to really give life to the whole scene. The external cave parts you can see outside the windows in certain sections give a nearly awe-inspiring atmosphere with really solidifies the level as one of the better underwater levels in TR2 TRLE even with the demo status." - OblivionJaw (02-Dec-2023)
"It's been a minute since I've played a level blindly, but I quite enjoyed my time here. It's a fairly standard Offshore Rig style base level, except the facility is deep underwater as you'd have gathered from the title, and I thought things were a bit too dark at times. I think I only came across one or two packs of flares so I was using them rather scarcely and relying way too much on the pistols muzzle flash which made things a bit less than ideal. Otherwise, it was pretty spot on with the occasional combat encounter and a few trap sequences here and there. Now to dive in a second time to prepare a walkthrough... 45 minutes, 1 secret. 08/23" - Treeble (20-Aug-2023)
"You'll almost certainly have sussed out from the title that this little demo involves quite a lot of swimming! As usual, trying to extrapolate a full level from a demo can be tricky. Obviously the nostalgia factor of TR2 can help compensate for what feels like a - clunky' experience these days, but the gameplay here could usefully be beefed up a bit for the full level, involving as it does a lot of switch throwing and baddy extermination. Basically, good potential and let's hope to see that fulfilled." - Jay (25-Jul-2023)
"Very well made TR2 game. Very intricately designed and the rooms are well detailed and eye catching. Seems like every part of the room space is used for something. Can't wait to play the full game. This builder is becoming my favorite go to for oceanic and shipwreck themed shenanigans." - Polar_Bear_Raider (12-Jul-2023)
"While being an admirable attempt to recreate the TR2 Oil Rig atmosphere and environment, I'm afraid to say that my overall opinion is in line with that of Jorge's review. There really isn't a whole lot of substance to the gameplay apart from a few traps, gymnastics, slightly tricky jumps and a bit of swimming (while using switches too) and the flow is somewhat flawed, as it's possible to bypass entire areas completely and end the level in about 15 minutes flat. What I don't quite understand is why make the rooms with the majority of the gameplay optional (particularly the one with the submarine which houses quite a bit of the gameplay, as it turned out) rather than for secrets. This sort of gameplay construction left a bad taste in my mouth and I was left feeling rather underwhelmed. This could have been so much better if the gameplay was reworked." - Ryan (02-Jul-2023)
"This is really short once Lara opens the doors to the pool room. There was yet another room where it seemed like she could have done more (was she looking at a wall?). Thing is once in the pool, the game is over before you can say Jack Robinson or whatever you may say. So, either you can skip most of the level and still end it, or it's really short and uneventful. It's a nice TR2 underwater design, a few thugs, a jump here, a jump there, some swimming and the use of levers and that's it. A bit dark too. Sorry, I'm saying it based on my experience, and the previous reviews leave me a bit puzzled... If I find there's a lot more to do, I'll retry it, but this is what I got." - Jorge22 (01-Jul-2023)
"A very solid TR2 level. Gameplay is engaging and involves numerous interesting tasks. Nothing more complicated though. I missed some puzzles here and there. Designwise it's very good. The perfect lighting combined with good and diverse use of textures makes up an immersive atmosphere of underwater facility. Liked some of the recolors of textures and the customization of enemies. Some minor things: one door had wrong sounds and one enemy got stuck in the door. Nothing more to complain about. It's a very enjoyable and quite short level. Recommended. Waiting for the final release!" - BlackWolfTR (28-Jun-2023)
"An hour of constant, unbroken immersion. It could be a tutorial on how to arrange stock objects in a flowing and creative way. I don't think there is any flaw here, or maybe just the gold secret should give multiple chances to be taken. It's one of those levels which I ended totally fulfilled and if the full version keeps this quality, it's gonna land in Hall of Fame for sure." - DJ Full (28-Jun-2023)
