Reviewer's comments
"A lovely little level of just about 25 minutes that makes you explore the hut and the surroundings for two keys. While some things are indeed a bit obscure and harder to find than secrets I liked the pace in this game, maybe also because the atmosphere is pretty convincing and the usage of sounds is very nice. The lighting could be improved at times but the texturing is strong as is the use of design objects. Despite not many clever puzzles or difficult tasks this was a really nice chilly level overall." - manarch2 (05-Feb-2024)
"a nice little christmas level with awesome atmosphere,soundtrack and leveldesign 10/10." - Raider278 (20-Jan-2024)
"A really nice Christmas level that bears the holidays atmosphere, which is also it's stronger asset. Pleasing to the eye, peaceful, exploration-based mostly and on the relaxed/easy side, it makes a very enjoyablet Christmas stroll. Recommended." - billie2001 (27-Dec-2023)
"This is a quintessential Christmas level... Chill vibes, Looks amazing (especially that skybox!) and is a short and sweet experience. Some great work done by Astraf in this level. Would wholeheartedly recommend to players of all skill levels!" - Feats (27-Dec-2023)
"Peacefull, simple but still enjoyable and nice. Merry CHristmas." - Lioness_86 (16-Dec-2023)
"Aaaah, the moment I’ve been waiting for – a charming Christmas level. For me, this ticked all the boxes – peaceful (well apart from an extremely grumpy owl), fun exploration in a beautiful snowy landscape and an all round feel-good factor. It’s not a long level, but it kept me well entertained whilst it lasted. There’s nothing difficult to achieve so this should be accessible to almost all players, although finding all the fires to light took me a few times round the area and the required sprint jump took me by surprise as I hadn’t been called upon to do one for a very long time. Merry Christmas." - Jay (15-Dec-2023)
"Cozy, cute, heart warming, charming and fun are all words that come to mind when I think about my experience playing this level. The setting is in and around a cozy cabin set in a snowy/icy wilderness and the visuals, nighttime lighting and atmosphere are just to die for! with some some lovely tunes to enjoy as well and actually even more if you can find the hidden record and play it. Gameplay consists of exploring and Manoeuvring inside and around the cabin and to the many snowy ledges and cave areas surrounding it looking for items to use for progression, some are easy and obvious and some are more sneaky and hidden: like the new sprint jump move, where the necessary crossbow is hidden and of course how to get to the roof etc. Other gameplay elements include a couple of inventive pushable tasks, shooting tasks (laser sight and explosive crossbow required) and a torch task in our pursuit of finding 4 keys parts to combine together to make 2 keys. The interactions with the man in the cave and the friend in the cabin were cute but the one with the owl was hilarious! after you found it’s egg and returned it to its nest on the roof the owl gives you a key followed by a savage attack as you try and get away from it! (as you can’t kill it) how ungrateful! Apart from the owl attack, any other dangers are few or far between with only the odd icicle, pit, and health deplete in the ice cold water. Overall i thought this level makes a great new entry into the Xmas category as not only was it very enjoyable it also sends out lovely heartfelt sentiments." - John (15-Dec-2023)
"Small and short level with an amazing winter landscape. It really invites you to explore it and to enjoy the atmosphere. The gameplay is unfortunately a weakness. I didn't understand that destroying the crystals or lighting the fires was relevant to gameplay. You get soft-locked if you go into the water without the keys, because it seems you can't get out anymore. On the other hand, I didn't find finding the other items as hard as the other reviews said. Also the level was so pretty that I didn't mind searching more thoroughly. In summary, definitely recommended. At least you should download it and walk around in it." - tuxraider (10-Dec-2023)
"This is a charming release that's ideally suited for the Advent season. It may have even been intended for the Advent Calendar of this year but pulled out for one reason or another. That's not a gripe, merely a passing comment. Being a Christmas level, the gameplay isn't too complicated, although you will have to be on the lookout for crystals to shoot and fires to light, and some of the jumps aren't as easy they look. What really stands out here is the stunning environment and the convincingly chilly atmosphere. The textures are wonderful (lighting could have been less dark in the cave areas although enough flares are available), the audio is on point (loved the music cheerfully blasting away in the cabin) and the cutscenes are charming. The ending flyby is a bit of a tearjerker though. Lovely start to the Advent season." - Ryan (09-Dec-2023)
"This is a short but "busy" level that's packed with multiple tasks to perform in a relatively compact environment. More than enough flares are provided to negotiate the dark surroundings, but I've never understood why builders don't just make their levels with more player-friendly lighting in the first place. It's not clear from the beginning that you have to shoot those purple crystals with explosive arrows in order to progress in the level, and there's a need near the end to perform a sprint jump that I learned about only by consulting the stuck thread. Still, in all this is an enjoyable romp that's just perfect for the Christmas season. Recommended." - Phil (08-Dec-2023)
"Bugs/Functional Issues
  • I can't tell if this is intentional, but I found it surprising that the owl whose egg Lara returns will attack her until she gets far enough away. The owl is invincible too, making it a bit of a nuissance. Luckliy there isn't much else to do on the rooftop so it's not much of an issue.
Neutral
  • The gameplay is pretty lean, which may be right up your alley if you're in a mood for a holiday stroll. It will mostly consist of searching for crystals to shoot and campfires to light, while hunting for a few other items.
Liked
  • This level is a visually pleasing and well-crafted mountainside. Some cave areas are a bit dark for my tastes, but there are plenty of flares and torches available that will mitigate that.
  • Good use of audio and cutscenes will add to the holiday atmosphere. Even the secrets reward players with charming piano music, and I found the final cutscene touching.
Time: 1 hour 3 minutes | Difficulty: Easy | Rating: 9/10" - JesseG (06-Dec-2023)
"Warning SPOILERS cause I'm speaking to the builder: please make a handle for this trapdoor, I was stuck for ages. Same with the roof not grabbable in other levels, a camera hint showing both the roof and the nest would be better as it would give people more idea - and something is also wrong with the portal there, which makes it look like you're not meant to access that place. Last thing is the crossbow, definitely the hardest part, much harder than the secrets - at least move that hay a little bit to indicate someone tweaked with it so there might be something behind (of course I checked every single bale and the correct one was the last...). Therefore the level was as relaxing as it was stressful to me, as I was held back with almost every step. Visuals: lighting is acceptable but you still cannot feel this moonlight, as the land, trees, rocks and Lara stay dark all the time (only the flares and torch make it more vibrant and organic as it should be). Many flaws but still recommended as it was satisfying to solve." - DJ Full (04-Dec-2023)
"A very welcome adventure that offers quite a nice exploration. The lighting and texturing were excellent and superb, shining well and the overall vibe was just to kill for. Beautifully made with the trees and snowy landscape, and the gameplay was really calming, perfect for a chill evening with a hot cocoa... Man I'm craving cocoa now." - OblivionJaw (03-Dec-2023)
